I have to say they r remarkably disciplined n in tune at the same level as any protocol military band i have ever seen. And the marching students pretty much ordered. Reminds me of assembly at the start of each period when we formed in column of twos per class and marched to our assigned classroom behind our teacher. Whatever anyone says, discipline and structure at school are essential to any child's growth.
Such happy memories of all the great ceremonies here: Speech Day, the beautiful Christmas services, Lord Mayors Parade, Beating Retreat at the end of term. My daughter was a student here and in the band.
This is almost the last place "Sussex by the Sea" is truly celebrated...here and ironically a football stadium...countless thousands of Royal Sussex lives down the line and we're reduced to this...
What year did you leave? I was 90-97... There as a Horizon documentary but nothing like HD videos or mobile footage to show from my time there :( I was the 4th generation of girls to attend... good times
Brings a smile to my

I loved this school I had such a great time marching for my food
I too felt a sense of pride when marching in to the Dining Hall.
I have say - those girls march a lot smarter than some military units seen elsewhere on youtube.

Yes, happy memories of my time there too. I have other videos on my channel of other years too. A fabulous school.
I was at CH from Sept 1936 to Dec 1943....the tunnel being sandbagged partitioned for a shelter during WW2..
Fantastic School, and outstanding Band
Watching this is pure nostalgia! I wish videoing things was more common when I was there so I could see myself, but in a way I'm glad it wasn't!
HM's Forces' bands should actively recruit from this band,
It's really cool, excellent 👌 🇬🇧
how neat was that, nice post
Me encanta esta escuela y sobre todo su Marching Band, son unicos felicidades

Why 'reduced'?
WE were the subject of a BBC outside broadcast during the WAR I think1940 from the chapel .I wonder if a copy is still about somewhere?
The march being played as the students march is is Semper Fidelis the US Marine Corps March by J.P. Sousa.
Can anybody identify what the band played as it marched in?
It is the Washington Post March commissioned from Sousa in 1889 by the Washington Post newspaper.
Did you miss the English flag on the drums and the Union Flags on the Pennants?
william Henry webb - it’s actually the shield of the city of London on the drums...
Just found out one of my Grandfathers went to this school
10/10
