YES!! going for a modern borderline minimalist aesthetic doesn't really work with that ottoman (it looks out of place), that item is made for a more busy, patterned and bright-colored house
Maybe for a future community challenge you could do a build inspired by a specific item challenge instead of having the same shell everyone needs to use the same item or the same few items picked by you. It would be very interesting to see what crazy ideas people could come up with given the same items.
Kayla, I love this build! I love seeing you branch out & experiment with colors/patterns! I know it’s out of your comfort zone but I promise majority of your subscribers appreciate seeing a different build where you have fun with no budget/pack limitations! You’re better at this than you think & thank you for letting us in on your creative process! These kinds of builds are a lot more fun & entertaining! More of this!
This is the one Simsie house that I would 100% love to live in, seeing as my entire room is dark green, gold and white modern decor with leaves/floral patterns everywhere LOL
Part of me is thankful that she pack restricts, and the other part of me thinks that videos like this where you're matching a specific item you should just use all the packs available so that you can get the best matching things
I would have completely flipped her downstairs floor plan lol, as soon as she blocked off the right side I was thinking that would be a good kitchen and dining room since it has the door to the outside, kind of makes me want to download this and rebuild the downstairs 😂
Same here, the whole time I sat here thinking "why on Earth would you have a back door in the kid's room?" Once I get the High School pack, I may download this house and change it up.
I was thinking the same. Although I usually prefer an open floor plan, I think it would have worked well with an archway under the stairs into a kitchen. But her finished product is very nice. Kayla, you are a very talented builder and decorator. Love your builds❤
It's nice to finally see a build that is different and actually uses colors, and textures, and different styles. Not the same old boring "challenge" build with the same furniture.
You should have more confidence in your wall choices because they are great! The green leaf wall, the few dark green accent walls, plus white walls are just perfect! I honestly really love this house.
This house isn’t modern though? It looks like an older home. She doesn’t struggle with using modern furniture, she struggles with making an actual modern house.
kayla, i beg you, USE TINTED LIGHTS IN YOUR BUILDS!!! a warmer tinted light would be amazing in this build and it totally makes everything blend together. please try it😭 it’s a life saver
I've completely given up on the sims 4 at this point, mods or no mods, the game is so broken it's unplayable at this point so I'm living vicariously through sims 4 youtube content. Thank you!
Genuinely love the fresh video with no limitations, fully creative, different wallpapers which look really good, and new items. It's a good change of pace. Don't be so hard on yourself. We like this stuff.
i actually like when the build is more improvised, it definitely makes you try new things and use items you might not have normally, and i feel like the results are always more unique
This house feels really Sims 2 to me in a weird way, especially before some of the extra interior walls/cut offs were added. This sorta brightly coloured wooden house and the light wood furniture along with the huge back porches... it's just a Sims 2 vibe.
I was crying the whole time because of the floors had been a lighter color, it wouldn’t have really been as hard to pick colors. The floors were just slightly too yellow-y and ended up clashing very subtly with a lot of the swatches.
Yes! As a maximalist builder my rule of thumb is "when in doubt, use a lighter, understated floor" It makes the room look bigger, doesn't clash and you can put as many rugs on top as you want to!
Simsie, you are such a comfort right now. My little sisters and I are home alone right now, it's storming out, and we just managed to get rid of a bat that got into our house. It was absolutely terrifying but watching you calms me down. Thank you so much for your videos. ❤
The beauty of decorating with green is that you can mix shades and it looks good because it mimics nature imo, I love greens with jewel tones as well :)
Ooh you should do a series/challenge of houses where each one is just base game and one pack/kit. I know you did those when the packs came out but would love to revisit them and get re-inspired to build with them!
kayla i absolutely adore you, you make my day every day that you post. you’re such a light, and kind person. just want you to know how much we appreciate you. Love you so much. 🥰🥰💚
i actually think the brighter yellow rug works really well with the green bedroom. it looks really interesting and gives kind of a midcentury modern bedroom vibe :>
Dont worry, every build of you is just so beautiful, never stop bc u doing a great job to show us an interesting and beautiful way of the Sims 4 how to play it and how it could feel and look like
Will go SO well with Blooming Rooms kit, Cottage Living, the leaf paintings from Tiny Living...would even make a great apartment. Don't forget the leafy wallpapers.
Hey simsie, to fix the gap in the fridge and the wall you can put a cabinet above and then go one down and place it underneath and then repeat it’s still use able and it should look right! I Hope you see this and it helps! I got this information from Emma Nicole’s RUclips short- How to create a built-in Fridge in the sims!
I feel like Kayak had a hard time because that ottoman is very art-deco, maximalist, "trendy" as she said, and she's usually more comfortable with a suburban, minimalist, traditional style. It's great to see her branching out tho! Simsie, I love seeing you trying new stuff, I hope you'll try to do other challenges like this and be a little more bold and experimental with the finished build. Love your videos!
Simsie this is one of the nice houses you have built in a while! I love the colours and patterns and different furniture than usual and its so refreshing to se some more modern touches 💗💗💗
An idea for a build (idea came to me at the end when you said "dark woods/dark wood floors"): can you try building a medieval style tavern, complete with upstairs being a few bedroom/hotel rooms and bathroom? It could have a kitchen in the back and tables and a fireplace in the main room. I'd love to see you try the challenge of making a fantasy/medieval build!
I was mainly a SIMS 2 player until last year, and I swear one of the main reasons for my CC addiction is because EA is incapable of giving us complete matching things/sets. Have this random thing that's blue, but not the same blue as anything else.
spent the entire video wishing u would put the kitchen in the downstairs bedroom space (with an archway or just no wall at all instead of the door), and put the dining room where the kitchen ended up being 😭 it just makes so much more sense to me that the kitchen is the room with the backdoor
We can‘t have a build without the round table, planter boxes and gigantic trees outside! I love how simsie herself has these things she just does every single build
As soon as you showed the ottoman, I immediately thought of the leaf wallpaper. I haven’t ever used that in my game, but it looks perfect in this house with the yellows and that ottoman.
as a builder who furnishes every house in a maximalist style, you saying "is it too much?" absolutely makes me cackle!! my houses are ALWAYS so colourful & have patterns on patterns so i'm here like no lil, you CAN go over the top there's no such thing as too much!
Love watching your building videos. I find myself trying to talk to you over the video because it feels like I'm in a conversation XD Thanks for being you!
Simsie you should start like a game of tag with other builders- like you pick an object for someone to make a whole build around, and they do it to someone else, etc etc Or just make more vids like this. I like seeing it all come together around one little object
Had an idea for a possible challenge - build tiny homes where each one is build around/inspired by a different mailbox. That way, each house kind of has to be a completely different style!
Maybe you should build a house inspired by the golden toilet, a ridiculously expensive monstrosity made of pure gold. Just iconic.
She would do that 😂
Putin's palace
Where the bathroom is the largest room with all the luxuries and amenities!
yess
She built a 1 million mansion and she used that toilet
I feel like that would work so well in the maximalist pack aesthetic
Also some of the things from Vintage Glamour and Paranormal ;)
YES!! going for a modern borderline minimalist aesthetic doesn't really work with that ottoman (it looks out of place), that item is made for a more busy, patterned and bright-colored house

I love that idea 😃
Would love this!!
Yes!
Ea is good at making swatches just not enough or not matching ones 😂
RIGHT!!!
fr
Mind you, in the real world, you couch does not already exactly match the color of your rug unless you're super rich.
@@robertgronewold3326 yes but you should have matching swatches for sets of things
@@EvelyntheG Usually if you work exclusively within a pack, it works out. But not every pack has super matchy furniture.

Fr! I always listen to her videos while I’m drawing

100% agree
are we watching the same video?????
yes!!! love this and love her
she barely "branched out", she pretty much just used a few new objects, and still made the same kind of house as always
This is the one Simsie house that I would 100% love to live in, seeing as my entire room is dark green, gold and white modern decor with leaves/floral patterns everywhere LOL
Omg you are living the dream ♡~♡ Hope you have a good day!
oh noo you're a stereotypical english teacher
Sounds like a nice aesthetic
Part of me is thankful that she pack restricts, and the other part of me thinks that videos like this where you're matching a specific item you should just use all the packs available so that you can get the best matching things
The amount of times Simsie does something, I love it, then she says it’s weird and undoes it!!
I mean... We already did more for less (talking about the time when lilsimsie made a whole house inspired by a single bathtub)
From the strangerville pack too 😂
not to mention the Cheese house from the other day 😂
@@acvines YES AND THAT ONE TOO
God, I love simsie
@@MirAilon simsie is a treasure and must be protected at all costs

I love when you use multiple packs. I like your base game only builds too but I feel like your creativity is limited. You’re so good at what you do!
I love when Kayak builds "with us" and not a speedbuild from her stream. My serotonin levels rise when i see her thought process! xP
It's nice to finally see a build that is different and actually uses colors, and textures, and different styles. Not the same old boring "challenge" build with the same furniture.
“I feel like the room needs to be smaller” - one of simsies tried and true go-to solutions for LITERALLY everything 😂
it works, too!
Mean while, I throw in a rug, some plants and a bookshelf and call it good.
In her defense, decorating large spaces is so hard. I run out of ideas so fast just for one room
You should have more confidence in your wall choices because they are great! The green leaf wall, the few dark green accent walls, plus white walls are just perfect! I honestly really love this house.
Lilsimsie: in the next one I’m thinking of dark tones, edgy, mysterious…
When we press play: classic colonial home with gracious landscaping
I feel like those dark green cottage living cabinets/counters would have looked rlly good in this build. Love that swatch
OOO yes
I am absolutely in love with the new objects from the pack, they are all just so gorgeeous
I know you think you struggle with more modern builds but this is absolutely stunning and adorable
This house isn’t modern though? It looks like an older home. She doesn’t struggle with using modern furniture, she struggles with making an actual modern house.
This house is so cute and is making me very happy just by the color scheme, so I think you did a great job!
kayla, i beg you, USE TINTED LIGHTS IN YOUR BUILDS!!! a warmer tinted light would be amazing in this build and it totally makes everything blend together. please try it😭 it’s a life saver
But you need to have a household in to be able to change the light color and then it restrict you in the building.
It’s so refreshing to see her use lighter wood floors in a build! I like this build a lot! It looks so good 💚
she almost always uses lighter swatches lol
I've completely given up on the sims 4 at this point, mods or no mods, the game is so broken it's unplayable at this point so I'm living vicariously through sims 4 youtube content. Thank you!
Simsie: im gonna make a build inspired by this swatch on this ottoman!
Also simsie: doesn't use the matching swatch on the rest of the furniture set
I feel like that would of been too much though. You want the ottoman to stand out and be a accent piece.
This house would be so much easier to furnished with a moore closed off floor plan
Really? I thought it seemed fine to furnish with the open floor plan.
@@rachelcookie321 it looks great, but i still think a closed floor plan would have worked better

Ya know what, I like this build! It’s outside of the blue suburban builds, which I love, but I love switching it up more
I was really not vibing with this build but then somehow the leaf wallpaper really made it work. Trust the process XD
I thought this garden was perfect for a little greenhouse, with the pretty glass roofs 🌱♥️
Genius idea.
