Just did the update following your instructions (thank you!) from 2304140.1 to 2307211.1 because my car somehow was stuck at that previous version. It worked flawlessly, but some slight differences from what was described in the video: 1. Soon as I inserted the USB the upgrade started straight away without any prompt to confirm (although it did say you can unplug USB to cancel) 2. After upgrade all my side-loaded apps were still there. Hopefully I will get the prompt to install v1.7.
Is it just me, or after upgrading to the latest version 2312, I don't seem to have the BYD Store or the Wireless Apple Carplay as mentioned in the patch log? The System Info indicates that I am at the latest version.

I have a couple of things I wanna kindly ask you: 1- After downgrading, should the car still be able to get OTA and update to the latest? or I have to upgrade manually also? and would it get future updates over OTA? 2- Does downgrading/upgrading or installing external apps affect the warrenty ?
1. Yes still can get OTA, that function is irrelevant to downgrading process. 2. No, because you can always upgrade back to latest version (either yourself or service centre).
Thanks for sharing this. You drive a Atto 3 with the steer on the richt side. At my country, it's at the left side. Do they use the same update-files? Because the important icons are at the steering-side. Right side for you but they should be on the left side for me. (ex. the home-button)
Same files. The OS is the same for all cars that have version starting 13.1.32 etc., the button locations change based on the region your car is in. If you are from a LHD country, the software will know to show you LHD stuff.
Great video but seems like my dolphin came with protections, when I plug in the USB I get a message telling me to scan a QR code with VDS or WeCom, guessing this is something only a dealership can do.
Thank you very much for sharing. This video segment is very useful for those who have upgraded to version 1.7 but intend to downgrade to 1.6 for the purpose of installing some third-party software. If I downgrade to 1.6 and then use sideloading to install some third-party software, and later the system automatically updates to 1.7 via OTA, will the previously installed third-party software still be present? Regarding BYD, despite having a 360° camera, there is no Sentry Mode after the care power off. The recording while driving only captures the front and not the rear, and it does not record external sounds as well. I have seen some third-party software of BYD on Xiaohongshu that support Sentry Mode and enhanced driving recording. However, I'm unsure if it can be used on Atto3. Due to my car been upgraded to 1.7, I have not personally tried those softwares. If you have any recommendations of those kinds of software, could you record a video demonstrating their functionality? Cheers!
That is the case. I have not personally performed downgrade, but installed 3rd party softwares on 1.6 (including package install unlocked) -- that stayed with 1.7 and there I have no problem using them.
Sorry I missed this comment. To answer your first question: whether apps will be present after OS upgrade, answer is yes. This also applies to PackageInstallerUnlocked and ADB toggle switch enable. Both of these will remain active until you factory reset the screen. There is indeed a Sentry Mode application available for BYD cars. It was made by a developer who designed it specifically for BYD vehicles. The app is currently undergoing international testing to ensure stability and compatibility with exported vehicles. I will be publishing a full how-to guide in the coming months.

Is there no other way to sideload app. Now. I have a Dolphin with 1.2 Update. And i really want to sideload a bunch of apps. And the "old ways" are closed.
On my German Atto 3 I get an other screen when I plug in the USB stick. The titel is in white text "Media upgrade". In blue text "The upgrade will take some time, please be patient". In white text "Preparing for media upgrade, and unplug U disk will cancel the upgrade! ...". And also in white text "Disclamers". I don't get the screen that you have with the two buttons. I have already upgradet from V1.4 to V1.5 and now I upgrade to V1.6.

The versions from my iCloud share are official versions released by BYD. This is Android OS. The correct term would be "rooting", not "jailbreaking". This video guide has no relevance to Android rooting.

Google Play Services cannot be installed. You can try using an emulator like Gbox. Join their Telegram group for more info. They also have a website. Inside Gbox you can use GMaps. For RUclips, try RUclips Vanced or RUclips ReVanced.
Thanks so much for this video. Do you think the 2309 will be available for Seal anytime soon? I downgraded from 2310 and I have the annoying AVAS pedestrian warning noise present on the 2307 version, with no option to turn it off.
Considering BYD Seal owners this week have picked up their car with 2401 pre-loaded, I would say either 2310 or 2401 will become available via OTA very soon.
Trying to install the latest version in my Atto 3 after OTA update didn’t upgrade the entertainment system. So downloaded and successfully install the 2403 via USB but my version still remains on the 2310.. any clues why? Tried multiple times.

Hello. Thanks for the video and sharing your knowledge. I’m currently on 13.01.32.230520. Based on what you say in the video I have the Atto 3 variant and I’m a few software versions behind. Someone told me this is actually the date of the last received update so mine would have last updated (or from factory came with) 2023.05.20. I’ve had the car for around 4-5 months now and I haven’t received anything. When I click on update software in the Infortainment (multiple times) it says I’m on the latest version. I’m from Sri Lanka and I imported the car personally from Japan (it was a Japanese Design version) and there aren’t dealers or anyone who knows a thing about the car. Mine is literally the only one in the whole country. Do you think I’m not receiving updates because I’ve changed the country? I have the original sim from Japan and the app works just fine. I even have 2GB internet on the sim per month. Thanks mate!
There's a few issues with your situation. 1. Because you personally imported it from Japan, your car may not be be officially registered on any BYD databases. Official registration needs to happen with a legal entity in your jurisdiction, that distributes and/or services BYD vehicles. 2. Why is this important? Because your car is not officially registered, you will not be receiving OTA updates, as BYD is unable to identify your car (VIN) or your location. You mention your app is working, which is odd. This is actually evidence that your car is in fact on at least one of BYD's databases - the one they use for app connectivity. To my knowledge, OTA is strongly related to SIM functionality. Since you have SIM functionality, I think you should be receiving OTAs. Your best bet would be to join some Japan BYD groups. See if owners in domestic Japan are seeing OTAs - it could very well be the case that BYD Japan has simply not delivered any official OTAs for Japan BYDs, if that makes sense. If the above doesn't work, then you'll have to just manually load OTA by following this video - keep in mind manually loading OTA only affects the Android side of the car - it does not improve ADAS or any other functionality that is non-Android.
Thank you for getting back to me. Your answer makes perfect sense and is in fact exactly what I was thinking myself. Yes my car is registered in Japan. I’ve got a friend in Japan who purchased it from a dealer in Japan, registered it in Japan, got the app registered with the sim and everything on behalf of me. So like you said I must be having the equivalent of whatever Japan gets. And since the sim and other services work (I even get Japanese ads on Spotify and RUclips when streaming using the car’s SIM card) I assume I must be getting whatever updates Japan gets. I’ve tried joining some telegram groups but it was really hard to find any Japanese ones + I’ve got obvious language barriers there barring a translator. Anyhow, thanks again mate! It will to a certain extent. While BYD has not officially confirmed this, if your software version is 2-3 versions old, it MIGHT not receive OTA for latest version. For example, in 2023 we has a few versions: 2302, 2304, 2307, 2310 and 2312. Example would be, if 2312 was released as OTA, and you were on 2304, you may not receive it. You will then need to manually upgrade to 2310, and wait for 2312 OTA to pop up. Again, this isn't an exact science and is solely based on what I've observed over the years. Hope this helps.
hi thanks for the great downgrade guide, Ive just done downgrading my seal to 2307 and tried successfully sideloading some apps onto the car. but it seems all the sideloaded apps cant work, most just exited after pressing the app. do you have a guide for installing revanced example microg and revanced youtube on 2307 appreciate it.

This doesn't seem to work for BYD Seals with version 2310, you can't load the update through an USB anymore. You'd have to find a way to downgrade and then update from the older version.

Hi Xinger, I've tried to downgrade in my Yuan Pro (Yuan Up in other countries) and I couldn't get it. I used your files for 13.1.33 because currently the car is on 13.1.33.2403010.1 but it doesn't allow me to install apps. From your repo I saw a folder with the 13.1.3323 version but it is not compressed, I created the UpdateFull.zip file with all files from your repo and I created the folder schema as you mentioned, but when I insert the usb into the car the ota upgrade process says this update couldn't be verified. I've got another OTA file from other repository with the same 13.1.3323 version, but the error with this is update failed. When the package load and start the installation percentage this don't take more than 2 min and restart the screen with a error "Update Failed". Could you please help me with this issue?
13.1.33.2307210.1_ is already in compressed ".zip" form. All you need to do is set up correct folder structure, copy the above folder in, rename it to UpdateFull and off you go. If you are using Windows, careful with the name. If you "name" it UpdateFull.zip it may actually be UpdateFull.zip(name).zip(extension) because the extension is hidden. If this is the case try naming is just UpdateFull without the ".zip". Good luck.
Well it looks like im now stuck on the pre v1.5 version down from v1.7, i think only a dealer visit to update to v1.7 will fix this, ill just tell them I haven't had any updates since I had the car in March and that the Dirac Live settings are missing along with the standard and brand options in the notifications menu.
it seems not a good idea to do manual downgrade as we just want to install apps. So, we should wait for next OTA and hopefully BYD would kindly open USB access again.
You are naive if you think they will open up access again. If you have seen the level at which BYD has gone to to block access, you will know it is a very sophisticated blocking system. They would have spent weeks implementing it.
Downgrade was successful. Thanks a bunch for the clear instructions. Android Auto now removed. Safety warning sounds are loud again. Turning on/off DRL tab no longer found in Lights option tab. DRL will not turn off when gear is not at P(ark) with mandarin command. Is there a new way to turn off DRL while vehicle is in motion, permanently or everytime a car is switched on?
Those settings are exclusive to version 2310 (and newer, probably). You'll need to wait until version >=2310 gets released, so you can upgrade and get those features back.
@@XingersTechLounge1I was able to turn DRL off and it stayed turned off, with the Mandarin voice command, at 2307 and older. Today I further downgraded to V1.5, at Park, I was able to use Mandarin voice to turn off/on DRL, however, as soon as I change gear away from P, the DRL turns on again. So I guess the DRL gear shift dependency effect is not related to the Android software. I'm out of idea how to make my Atto 3 DRL turn off while in motion.

ok followed your instructions and formated the USB as fat32 and directories are checked but when I plun in the car nothing is getting recognised. in a seal with the latest 2041 version and 23XX FWC. any help will be appreciated. USB files can be seen in the directory in the car so the format is ok

It is the same, there is no way of backing up. You will need to go service centre to bring your car to latest version (if latest version is not available online).

Nah it will work. What's important is the prefix. 13.1.32 is for Atto 3, Dolphin and apparently M6. The software is interchangeable between all 13.1.32 cars. As mentioned before, because the version your car is on is not available online, you won't be able to go back to it without going back to service centre. With that said, there is no issue with loading other 13.1.32 software versions.
@@XingersTechLounge1 as you mentioned 'PASSWORD SIDELOAD NOT WORKING AS OF V1.7 13.1.XX.2310' i tried downgrading to various version prior to 2310 such as : - 13.1.32.2307211.1 - 13.1.32.2302170.1_2 - even 13.1.32.2310180.1 This happened when trying the above versions : 1) Prompt for formatting, and data loss (YES) 2) Started loading the IVI upgrade 3) Prompt for restart 4) Progress for installing upgrade (% increase quickly, 0-100% in less than 10 secs) 5) System reboot 6) Shows IVI Upgrade failed Upgrading works though, now im currently on 13.1.32.2407250 and stuck :/
Check the pastebin link in the video description. Then, highlight and copy any one of the 10 iCloud links in to a browser. You can then log in with Apple ID and start browsing. Do note each link has a maximum access limit of around 50-70 users. If that limit is reached you will get an error. Simple try the other links.
Thank you very much for making this tutorial. I was struggling to install apps because my system was v17 and nothing works, but I was able to downgraded it and install many apps! One question though. Do you have any idea why some of the APKs don't work. Netflix and Google Play store dosn't open Disney + and Star + can run the app, but when you play any video the screen stays black, but there sound and subtitles Any tip on how to fix those issues?
Google "DRM black screen issue". Google Play Store won't work, the system lacks crucial Google software dependencies. Most Google apps won't work. Look up "GBox". It's an emulator. You can run apps inside GBox and it will have Google capabilities. Check out the "App Availability" section on GBox website to install apps to the homescreen - this acts as a shortcut to the real app inside GBox. Good luck.
I'm expecting my BYD Dolphin to arrive soon with the latest OTA update, which I assume is version 1.7. However, I have the option to install version 1.6 (2307) or version 1.5 (2304). I'm wondering if it makes any difference which one I install if all I want is to have the option to install the Sentry Mode app.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work my Atto3. I tried use Mac and PC to format the usb drive, checked all the folder name and file name are correct. It has nothing happen when I plug in the USB with update file with it. Also, My Atto 3 will create lot of different folders (eg ringtone, DCIM etc) after I plug in the USB drive . Any suggestions? Could I try different usb stick or this method doesn’t work for my car at all??
Hi, I picked up my Dolphin earlier this week, came with 2310, which is says is v.1.0 (not letting me upgrade OTA yet) trying to downgrade, but getting ‘Incomplete upgrade package information, upgrade failed!’ error, am I right in thinking that’s because sideloading isn’t available on this version, so will be stuck with this until the OTA pushes through to upgrade?

I just wanted to bring to your attention that I noticed something when I went to purchase my BYD Dolphin today. The cameras on the mirrors don't seem to show much of the side doors when they are folded. However, in your video, the cameras seem to show a wider area. Is it possible to adjust the cameras to show a wider view of the side doors when folded?
It was via the vehicle image app so perhaps the icons at the bottom of the screen could have interrupted the view, hopefully when I do have it and install the app it’s going to record the sides fine with more view angle.

Since I bought my BYD Atto 3 a month ago, it has not received the OTA. I then updated from V1.4 to V1.6 following your instructions and using your file. Now my car at least has the German language on the tablet and in the voice assistant. The OTA is still not running. The problem is that the characters on the small display keep reverting to Chinese characters. In addition, my car probably has an outdated ADAS software version. What can I do to get the OTA? I am located in Germany.
@@XingersTechLounge1 After I spoke to my dealer, he gave me a USB stick with an update. After I installed the update, a factory reset was performed automatically and all my installed apps were gone. I now have system version 13.1.32.2304140.1 and FWC version 13.5.2.2303290.2.13.5.2.2208170.1. Have I now upgraded to V1.7 or V1.8? Or was this a downgrade to V1.5 and therefore a system refresh was performed? I don't know. Can you tell me which version I have installed on my Atto with the stick from my dealer?
V1.8 But be careful when you use the term "V1.8" In Europe, V1.8 means something different to what it means in Australia. Best to refer to it as 2403, which is the latest upgrade for Atto 3. An upgrade should not have reset your system. Something else happened.
@@XingersTechLounge1 But the version I now have on my Atto 3 is not the 2403, it's the 2304. The display says system version 13.1.32.2304140.1. In your OTA directory this corresponds to V1.5(2304) but with Android Auto. Or am I wrong? And the Chinese characters on the speedometer have not disappeared.
@@XingersTechLounge1 The USB stick from my dealer was not an upgrade, it was a downgrade. That's why my installed third-party apps were deleted. I found this out today. I can sideload apps with the password BYD6125F.
hi guys, I am planning to downgrade my atto 3 OTA1.7 to 1.6. Upon the upgrade by BYD, I did notice the BYD dash cam videos are inaccessible anymore and you cannot play your video recordings. Does anyone know how to access the files anymore?

That doesn't make sense. That means you didn't do the downgrade properly. Also, V1.5 means nothing. You need to speak in 13.1.32 terms. I need to know the 13.1.32.XXXX software version number to assist you.
Hello, do you know if i do the downgrade, the ADAS version will downgrade too? Because i have one updated ADAS version that allows me to save the configurations after turn off the car and i don't want to lose this functionality.
What version are you on right now? Settings > DiLink/System Settings > Software > Software detail > View > System version I have not heard of older versions causing ADAS config reset issues. Only from the latest version (2310). It should be OK.
What ADAS features do you want to keep off? I haven't done extensive testing but I can confirm AEB turns back ON after each restart. There is also a warning when I try to turn off AEB, something about it will turn on during each ignition cycle. Perhaps the other settings will have a similar issue. I am on 2307. If it is an issue, you can downgrade to 2307. Sideload your apps. Do the PackageInstallerUnlocked method too (check my video). Once you upgrade back to 2310, PackageInstallerUnlocked remains ACTIVE unless you do a screen factory reset.
@@XingersTechLounge1 here in Brazil we have an ADAS upgrade that allows us to save the configurations after turn off the car. I don’t want to loose this adas version after downgrade, but apparently it will happen.
What is the latest software version for SEAL? Already have Apple CarPlay via Wireless? The car is from Portugal, does it make any difference if you update it with these files?
Hey Xinger, it looks like I have received the OTA push for my BYD Seal today, I'd like to downgrade and sideload, however still upgrade to the latest version. Have you tried downgrading after you've seen updates? WIll you see the OTA upgrades again after the downgrade? or you should do it before you receive it. TIA
This isn't an exact science but if your car's Android version is older than one, sometimes two versions, it will no longer receive OTA. Keep in mind OTA updates contain more than just Android updates. Downgrading/upgrading using the methodology in this video does not affect the other updates installed as part of OTA.

No. Downgrading your Android version removes all of your data. Only when you upgrade, does app data get retained. Sorry I should have made that clearer in the video.

Hi, The 1.7 version - In the iCould drive there are two directories : one with the OTA version and the other one with apps. How should the app directory be used or uploaded to the 1.7 version ?

I installed the 2207 software in my Dolphion coming from 2210, everything was fine. The only thing is that now in the official smartphone application it gives me an error as if the doors were always open and when I put the car on charge the image is no longer of a Dolphin but it is as if it were an ACT 3. Solutions ?
Which country are you from? HK? Some HK owners have reported similar behaviour - their smartphone app stops working. I've tested all compatible versions with my personal Atto 3 and no issues.

I have the 1.8 OTA installed and want to downgrade to 1.6 so I can sideload again. I do not have an apple accoint so I do not have access to your iCloud. When I tried to upgrade my BYD Seal, it brought up a popup for Media Upgrade and was asking for a Verification Code. A 6 character long code. Where should I look for this code?

Thanks so much for this. I downgraded successfully my seal from 2401 to 2307. Everything works as expected but my DAB radio is now no longer working: when I open DAB, it says DAB module connection error. Any idea? I am hoping once the car is eventually upgraded back to 2401, then DAB would just start workibg again...

So if I purchased a new Dolphin right now with the latest version I won't be able to sideload apps like the Sentry Mode for example when you release a tutorial in the future?

I can't reveal my source sorry. Check your car's system version. If the prefix number (i.e. 13.1.32.....) matches any of the version formats that I have in my iCloud, it will wo rk.

You can ask them to not update anything. Whether they abide to those instructions is a whole other story (i.e. big dealerships). My local Mycar is lovely. They'll do exactly as I say.
Hi, I had noticed that in the Icloud folder, there is a DiLink Upgrade Assistant. What is the use for this? Whenever I tried to install the global software to a CN version, it asks for a verification code, wondering if this could be useful
The Upgrade Assistant is an APK. Install it to your Android device (phone, tablet, whatever). When you open it, it will ask for IMEI. Type in the IMEI of your car into the field, then it will give you a code to use. Type the code in to the pop up that shows up in the car, then you can proceed.

I want to try the old versions for the air conditioning problem in my vehicle. In some of the tests we conducted, although the air conditioning settings were the same, one vehicle's air conditioning heated less, while the other vehicle's air conditioning heating performance was much better. Air conditioner gas and installation were checked, but no problem was found. Older versions may be a solution. If you have any experiences on this subject, I would be very grateful if you could share them.
@@HE-je4mu v1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 are on the share.. if you've tried all those versions and your AC issue still exists, I would say it's more of a physical hardware issue of the AC rather than software... all the software really does is send the temperature command to the AC unit and the unit does the rest.

@@XingersTechLounge1regarding fastboot, on yours is there anything special you need to do to keep it in fastboot mode or enable usb/OTG? In my Seal if I 'adb reboot bootloader' it shows the fastboot screen for a few seconds then automatically reboots to OS, and there's nothing on any USB port, including the hidden OTG port on the computer itself.

Hi Xinger, my Atto3's is currently on version 2309 (between v1.7 and v1.6) since i collected the car. I find it to be the best version since it has Android Auto, still able to sideload APK and no low speed humming sound. I couldn't find this version in your folder. Can you please teach me how do I backup/extract this version from my car like you did to other version? Just in case if my car updated to the latest version, I will be able to downgrade to 2309 instead of 2307 (v1.6) which doesnt have Android Auto. Thank you
No such thing as "extracting" it from your car. The files I have are captured as they are downloaded to the car as part of an OTA upgrade. Or, they have been provided courtesy of the dealership. No other way to capture the file, at least not to my knowledge.

Thanks for posting this. I followed your instructions to downgrade to 1.6 in order to restore adb and unlocked installer after I needed to factory restore because I messed with too many settings and ended up with a pin protected lockscreen that I couldn't turn off😂. Just did the update following your instructions (thank you!) from 2304140.1 to 2307211.1 because my car somehow was stuck at that previous version. It worked flawlessly, but some slight differences from what was described in the video:
1. Soon as I inserted the USB the upgrade started straight away without any prompt to confirm (although it did say you can unplug USB to cancel)
2. After upgrade all my side-loaded apps were still there.
Hopefully I will get the prompt to install v1.7.

1. Yes still can get OTA, that function is irrelevant to downgrading process.
2. No, because you can always upgrade back to latest version (either yourself or service centre).
Thanks for sharing this. You drive a Atto 3 with the steer on the richt side. At my country, it's at the left side. Do they use the same update-files? Because the important icons are at the steering-side. Right side for you but they should be on the left side for me. (ex. the home-button)

The OS is the same for all cars that have version starting 13.1.32 etc., the button locations change based on the region your car is in.
If you are from a LHD country, the software will know to show you LHD stuff.
Great video but seems like my dolphin came with protections, when I plug in the USB I get a message telling me to scan a QR code with VDS or WeCom, guessing this is something only a dealership can do.

Thank you very much for sharing. This video segment is very useful for those who have upgraded to version 1.7 but intend to downgrade to 1.6 for the purpose of installing some third-party software. If I downgrade to 1.6 and then use sideloading to install some third-party software, and later the system automatically updates to 1.7 via OTA, will the previously installed third-party software still be present?
Regarding BYD, despite having a 360° camera, there is no Sentry Mode after the care power off. The recording while driving only captures the front and not the rear, and it does not record external sounds as well.
I have seen some third-party software of BYD on Xiaohongshu that support Sentry Mode and enhanced driving recording. However, I'm unsure if it can be used on Atto3.
Due to my car been upgraded to 1.7, I have not personally tried those softwares. If you have any recommendations of those kinds of software, could you record a video demonstrating their functionality? Cheers!

That is the case. I have not personally performed downgrade, but installed 3rd party softwares on 1.6 (including package install unlocked) -- that stayed with 1.7 and there I have no problem using them.

To answer your first question: whether apps will be present after OS upgrade, answer is yes. This also applies to PackageInstallerUnlocked and ADB toggle switch enable. Both of these will remain active until you factory reset the screen.
There is indeed a Sentry Mode application available for BYD cars. It was made by a developer who designed it specifically for BYD vehicles. The app is currently undergoing international testing to ensure stability and compatibility with exported vehicles. I will be publishing a full how-to guide in the coming months.

Where did you get those cool theme from? The Chinese theme app from your iCloud doesn't has many choices.
I got it from the Chinese theme app. Check the other tabs inside the app.

What have you tried so far?
On my German Atto 3 I get an other screen when I plug in the USB stick. The titel is in white text "Media upgrade". In blue text "The upgrade will take some time, please be patient". In white text "Preparing for media upgrade, and unplug U disk will cancel the upgrade! ...". And also in white text "Disclamers". I don't get the screen that you have with the two buttons. I have already upgradet from V1.4 to V1.5 and now I upgrade to V1.6.

The versions from my iCloud share are official versions released by BYD.
This is Android OS. The correct term would be "rooting", not "jailbreaking".
This video guide has no relevance to Android rooting.

In my iCloud share there is a folder called "Chinese BYD Theme Store".
Install the APK in that and off you go - tens of options to choose from.

Google Play Services cannot be installed.
You can try using an emulator like Gbox. Join their Telegram group for more info. They also have a website. Inside Gbox you can use GMaps.
For RUclips, try RUclips Vanced or RUclips ReVanced.

Hello. Thanks for the video and sharing your knowledge. I’m currently on 13.01.32.230520. Based on what you say in the video I have the Atto 3 variant and I’m a few software versions behind. Someone told me this is actually the date of the last received update so mine would have last updated (or from factory came with) 2023.05.20. I’ve had the car for around 4-5 months now and I haven’t received anything. When I click on update software in the Infortainment (multiple times) it says I’m on the latest version. I’m from Sri Lanka and I imported the car personally from Japan (it was a Japanese Design version) and there aren’t dealers or anyone who knows a thing about the car. Mine is literally the only one in the whole country. Do you think I’m not receiving updates because I’ve changed the country? I have the original sim from Japan and the app works just fine. I even have 2GB internet on the sim per month. Thanks mate!
There's a few issues with your situation.
1. Because you personally imported it from Japan, your car may not be be officially registered on any BYD databases. Official registration needs to happen with a legal entity in your jurisdiction, that distributes and/or services BYD vehicles.
2. Why is this important? Because your car is not officially registered, you will not be receiving OTA updates, as BYD is unable to identify your car (VIN) or your location.
You mention your app is working, which is odd. This is actually evidence that your car is in fact on at least one of BYD's databases - the one they use for app connectivity.
To my knowledge, OTA is strongly related to SIM functionality. Since you have SIM functionality, I think you should be receiving OTAs.
Your best bet would be to join some Japan BYD groups. See if owners in domestic Japan are seeing OTAs - it could very well be the case that BYD Japan has simply not delivered any official OTAs for Japan BYDs, if that makes sense.
If the above doesn't work, then you'll have to just manually load OTA by following this video - keep in mind manually loading OTA only affects the Android side of the car - it does not improve ADAS or any other functionality that is non-Android.

Yes my car is registered in Japan. I’ve got a friend in Japan who purchased it from a dealer in Japan, registered it in Japan, got the app registered with the sim and everything on behalf of me.
So like you said I must be having the equivalent of whatever Japan gets. And since the sim and other services work (I even get Japanese ads on Spotify and RUclips when streaming using the car’s SIM card) I assume I must be getting whatever updates Japan gets.
I’ve tried joining some telegram groups but it was really hard to find any Japanese ones + I’ve got obvious language barriers there barring a translator.

It will to a certain extent.
While BYD has not officially confirmed this, if your software version is 2-3 versions old, it MIGHT not receive OTA for latest version.
For example, in 2023 we has a few versions:
2302, 2304, 2307, 2310 and 2312.
Example would be, if 2312 was released as OTA, and you were on 2304, you may not receive it. You will then need to manually upgrade to 2310, and wait for 2312 OTA to pop up.
Again, this isn't an exact science and is solely based on what I've observed over the years.

hi thanks for the great downgrade guide, Ive just done downgrading my seal to 2307 and tried successfully sideloading some apps onto the car. but it seems all the sideloaded apps cant work, most just exited after pressing the app. do you have a guide for installing revanced example microg and revanced youtube on 2307 appreciate it.

If nothing pops up then either:
1. Your folder structure is wrong.
2. Your USB is formatted incorrectly.
Are you using front USB-A port?

This doesn't seem to work for BYD Seals with version 2310, you can't load the update through an USB anymore.
You'd have to find a way to downgrade and then update from the older version.
Nope, it does work. Your folder structure is probably wrong. Or your USB is faulty.
PS I have tested 2403 -> 2309 -> 2401 -> 2403 without issue.

I've tried to downgrade in my Yuan Pro (Yuan Up in other countries) and I couldn't get it. I used your files for 13.1.33 because currently the car is on 13.1.33.2403010.1 but it doesn't allow me to install apps. From your repo I saw a folder with the 13.1.3323 version but it is not compressed, I created the UpdateFull.zip file with all files from your repo and I created the folder schema as you mentioned, but when I insert the usb into the car the ota upgrade process says this update couldn't be verified.
I've got another OTA file from other repository with the same 13.1.3323 version, but the error with this is update failed. When the package load and start the installation percentage this don't take more than 2 min and restart the screen with a error "Update Failed".
Could you please help me with this issue?
13.1.33.2307210.1_ is already in compressed ".zip" form.
All you need to do is set up correct folder structure, copy the above folder in, rename it to UpdateFull and off you go.
If you are using Windows, careful with the name.
If you "name" it UpdateFull.zip it may actually be UpdateFull.zip(name).zip(extension) because the extension is hidden.
If this is the case try naming is just UpdateFull without the ".zip".

Well it looks like im now stuck on the pre v1.5 version down from v1.7, i think only a dealer visit to update to v1.7 will fix this, ill just tell them I haven't had any updates since I had the car in March and that the Dirac Live settings are missing along with the standard and brand options in the notifications menu.
it seems not a good idea to do manual downgrade as we just want to install apps. So, we should wait for next OTA and hopefully BYD would kindly open USB access again.
You are naive if you think they will open up access again.
If you have seen the level at which BYD has gone to to block access, you will know it is a very sophisticated blocking system. They would have spent weeks implementing it.

Downgrade was successful. Thanks a bunch for the clear instructions. Android Auto now removed. Safety warning sounds are loud again. Turning on/off DRL tab no longer found in Lights option tab. DRL will not turn off when gear is not at P(ark) with mandarin command. Is there a new way to turn off DRL while vehicle is in motion, permanently or everytime a car is switched on?
Those settings are exclusive to version 2310 (and newer, probably).
You'll need to wait until version >=2310 gets released, so you can upgrade and get those features back.
@@XingersTechLounge1I was able to turn DRL off and it stayed turned off, with the Mandarin voice command, at 2307 and older. Today I further downgraded to V1.5, at Park, I was able to use Mandarin voice to turn off/on DRL, however, as soon as I change gear away from P, the DRL turns on again. So I guess the DRL gear shift dependency effect is not related to the Android software. I'm out of idea how to make my Atto 3 DRL turn off while in motion.
Probably a control module firmware update with a newer 13.1.32 update. Those are not reversible unfortunately.

ok followed your instructions and formated the USB as fat32 and directories are checked but when I plun in the car nothing is getting recognised. in a seal with the latest 2041 version and 23XX FWC. any help will be appreciated. USB files can be seen in the directory in the car so the format is ok

It is the same, there is no way of backing up. You will need to go service centre to bring your car to latest version (if latest version is not available online).

Nah it will work. What's important is the prefix.
13.1.32 is for Atto 3, Dolphin and apparently M6. The software is interchangeable between all 13.1.32 cars.
As mentioned before, because the version your car is on is not available online, you won't be able to go back to it without going back to service centre.
With that said, there is no issue with loading other 13.1.32 software versions.

i tried downgrading to various version prior to 2310 such as :
- 13.1.32.2307211.1
- 13.1.32.2302170.1_2
- even 13.1.32.2310180.1
This happened when trying the above versions :
1) Prompt for formatting, and data loss (YES)
2) Started loading the IVI upgrade
3) Prompt for restart
4) Progress for installing upgrade (% increase quickly, 0-100% in less than 10 secs)
5) System reboot
6) Shows IVI Upgrade failed
Upgrading works though, now im currently on 13.1.32.2407250 and stuck :/

That's not temperature. It is PM2.5 reading inside and out. Not all cars will have it. Depends on your country.

Then, highlight and copy any one of the 10 iCloud links in to a browser.
You can then log in with Apple ID and start browsing.
Do note each link has a maximum access limit of around 50-70 users. If that limit is reached you will get an error. Simple try the other links.

Google "DRM black screen issue".
Google Play Store won't work, the system lacks crucial Google software dependencies. Most Google apps won't work.
Look up "GBox". It's an emulator. You can run apps inside GBox and it will have Google capabilities. Check out the "App Availability" section on GBox website to install apps to the homescreen - this acts as a shortcut to the real app inside GBox.

I'm expecting my BYD Dolphin to arrive soon with the latest OTA update, which I assume is version 1.7. However, I have the option to install version 1.6 (2307) or version 1.5 (2304). I'm wondering if it makes any difference which one I install if all I want is to have the option to install the Sentry Mode app.

@@XingersTechLounge1 If I downgrade my OTA and later decide to upgrade to a newer version, the USB method that I used before may not work for the new version. However, if I downgrade again from the newer version, will the USB method still work?
Unfortunately it doesn’t work my Atto3. I tried use Mac and PC to format the usb drive, checked all the folder name and file name are correct. It has nothing happen when I plug in the USB with update file with it. Also, My Atto 3 will create lot of different folders (eg ringtone, DCIM etc) after I plug in the USB drive .
Any suggestions? Could I try different usb stick or this method doesn’t work for my car at all??

Hi, I picked up my Dolphin earlier this week, came with 2310, which is says is v.1.0 (not letting me upgrade OTA yet) trying to downgrade, but getting ‘Incomplete upgrade package information, upgrade failed!’ error, am I right in thinking that’s because sideloading isn’t available on this version, so will be stuck with this until the OTA pushes through to upgrade?
Incomplete package issue means you didn't set up your USB structure properly.

I just wanted to bring to your attention that I noticed something when I went to purchase my BYD Dolphin today. The cameras on the mirrors don't seem to show much of the side doors when they are folded. However, in your video, the cameras seem to show a wider area. Is it possible to adjust the cameras to show a wider view of the side doors when folded?
It should be the same. Have you compared the imagery side by side?
Could be placebo?
It was via the vehicle image app so perhaps the icons at the bottom of the screen could have interrupted the view, hopefully when I do have it and install the app it’s going to record the sides fine with more view angle.

Since I bought my BYD Atto 3 a month ago, it has not received the OTA. I then updated from V1.4 to V1.6 following your instructions and using your file. Now my car at least has the German language on the tablet and in the voice assistant.
The OTA is still not running. The problem is that the characters on the small display keep reverting to Chinese characters. In addition, my car probably has an outdated ADAS software version. What can I do to get the OTA?

@@XingersTechLounge1 After I spoke to my dealer, he gave me a USB stick with an update. After I installed the update, a factory reset was performed automatically and all my installed apps were gone. I now have system version 13.1.32.2304140.1 and FWC version 13.5.2.2303290.2.13.5.2.2208170.1.
Have I now upgraded to V1.7 or V1.8? Or was this a downgrade to V1.5 and therefore a system refresh was performed? I don't know. Can you tell me which version I have installed on my Atto with the stick from my dealer?

But be careful when you use the term "V1.8"
In Europe, V1.8 means something different to what it means in Australia.
Best to refer to it as 2403, which is the latest upgrade for Atto 3.
An upgrade should not have reset your system. Something else happened.
@@XingersTechLounge1 But the version I now have on my Atto 3 is not the 2403, it's the 2304. The display says system version 13.1.32.2304140.1. In your OTA directory this corresponds to V1.5(2304) but with Android Auto. Or am I wrong? And the Chinese characters on the speedometer have not disappeared.
@@XingersTechLounge1 The USB stick from my dealer was not an upgrade, it was a downgrade. That's why my installed third-party apps were deleted.

hi guys, I am planning to downgrade my atto 3 OTA1.7 to 1.6. Upon the upgrade by BYD, I did notice the BYD dash cam videos are inaccessible anymore and you cannot play your video recordings. Does anyone know how to access the files anymore?

That doesn't make sense.
That means you didn't do the downgrade properly.
Also, V1.5 means nothing. You need to speak in 13.1.32 terms. I need to know the 13.1.32.XXXX software version number to assist you.
Hello, do you know if i do the downgrade, the ADAS version will downgrade too? Because i have one updated ADAS version that allows me to save the configurations after turn off the car and i don't want to lose this functionality.

I have not heard of older versions causing ADAS config reset issues. Only from the latest version (2310).

What ADAS features do you want to keep off?
I haven't done extensive testing but I can confirm AEB turns back ON after each restart. There is also a warning when I try to turn off AEB, something about it will turn on during each ignition cycle.
Perhaps the other settings will have a similar issue.

If it is an issue, you can downgrade to 2307.
Sideload your apps. Do the PackageInstallerUnlocked method too (check my video).
Once you upgrade back to 2310, PackageInstallerUnlocked remains ACTIVE unless you do a screen factory reset.

But, check my previous comment. You can downgrade, do what you need, then wait for OTA to upgrade again.
What is the latest software version for SEAL? Already have Apple CarPlay via Wireless? The car is from Portugal, does it make any difference if you update it with these files?
If you already have wireless CarPlay this is the software you're already on. Everyone else is behind.
As Jonesy777 has said, if you already have wireless CarPlay then you are already on this version. No need to update.
Hey Xinger, it looks like I have received the OTA push for my BYD Seal today, I'd like to downgrade and sideload, however still upgrade to the latest version. Have you tried downgrading after you've seen updates? WIll you see the OTA upgrades again after the downgrade? or you should do it before you receive it. TIA
This isn't an exact science but if your car's Android version is older than one, sometimes two versions, it will no longer receive OTA.
Keep in mind OTA updates contain more than just Android updates. Downgrading/upgrading using the methodology in this video does not affect the other updates installed as part of OTA.

No. Downgrading your Android version removes all of your data. Only when you upgrade, does app data get retained. Sorry I should have made that clearer in the video.

The 1.7 version - In the iCould drive there are two directories : one with the OTA version and the other one with apps. How should the app directory be used or uploaded to the 1.7 version ?
App is as the name suggests - contains app for that OTA version.
Irrelevant to installing that specific version. It is just a folder of apps (APK).

I installed the 2207 software in my Dolphion coming from 2210, everything was fine. The only thing is that now in the official smartphone application it gives me an error as if the doors were always open and when I put the car on charge the image is no longer of a Dolphin but it is as if it were an ACT 3. Solutions ?
Which country are you from? HK?
Some HK owners have reported similar behaviour - their smartphone app stops working.
I've tested all compatible versions with my personal Atto 3 and no issues.
@@XingersTechLounge1 i write from Italy. However, I think it is a problem with the app update as it seems to have been resolved now. The only thing that hasn't changed, and which is strange, when I reload the car the image of the car is not a Dolphin but an Atto 3

Chinese Seal does not use 13.1.33 files. My files will NOT work with Chinese Seal.

If your car uses the same version prefix, then it will work.

Everything works as expected but my DAB radio is now no longer working: when I open DAB, it says DAB module connection error. Any idea? I am hoping once the car is eventually upgraded back to 2401, then DAB would just start workibg again...
I have got the same issue as you. My car is BYD SEAL Premium. After the downgrading, DAB radio shows loading like forever. Could @Xingers TechLounge1 help address this issue?

I can't reveal my source sorry. Check your car's system version. If the prefix number (i.e. 13.1.32.....) matches any of the version formats that I have in my iCloud, it will wo rk.

You can ask them to not update anything.
Whether they abide to those instructions is a whole other story (i.e. big dealerships).

Yes, install to an Android device.
Use it with your car's IMEI number, and it will give you a code to use.

The Upgrade Assistant is an APK. Install it to your Android device (phone, tablet, whatever). When you open it, it will ask for IMEI.
Type in the IMEI of your car into the field, then it will give you a code to use. Type the code in to the pop up that shows up in the car, then you can proceed.

I want to try the old versions for the air conditioning problem in my vehicle. In some of the tests we conducted, although the air conditioning settings were the same, one vehicle's air conditioning heated less, while the other vehicle's air conditioning heating performance was much better. Air conditioner gas and installation were checked, but no problem was found. Older versions may be a solution. If you have any experiences on this subject, I would be very grateful if you could share them.
@@HE-je4mu v1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 are on the share.. if you've tried all those versions and your AC issue still exists, I would say it's more of a physical hardware issue of the AC rather than software... all the software really does is send the temperature command to the AC unit and the unit does the rest.
My OTA files are for Android multimedia only.
I don't gave V1.1 - V1.4.
It will have no effect on A/C operation even if I had those files.

OR, do I run Magisk on a Mac to patch boot.img instead? I ask because in your iCloud share, you have the expanded Magisk zip (app-debug), and I'm wondering what you need that for since Magisk runs on the car? Also, does fastboot work via wireless ADB or only USB? Thank you
You can patch it via Magisk in-car.
Fastboot is USB only.
Atto3-ROOT-SUNNY contains pre-patched files already. It is for version 13.1.32.2212
@@XingersTechLounge1regarding fastboot, on yours is there anything special you need to do to keep it in fastboot mode or enable usb/OTG? In my Seal if I 'adb reboot bootloader' it shows the fastboot screen for a few seconds then automatically reboots to OS, and there's nothing on any USB port, including the hidden OTG port on the computer itself.
You need to run the command within that really short window where it says it has entered fastboot.
I don't know why it only lasts 5-10 seconds.
@@XingersTechLounge1 I did, using 'watch -n0.2 "lsusb; fastboot devices"' on every accessible USB port in turn, and the inaccessible OTG port with an OTG cable, nothing at all....

Hi Xinger, my Atto3's is currently on version 2309 (between v1.7 and v1.6) since i collected the car. I find it to be the best version since it has Android Auto, still able to sideload APK and no low speed humming sound. I couldn't find this version in your folder. Can you please teach me how do I backup/extract this version from my car like you did to other version? Just in case if my car updated to the latest version, I will be able to downgrade to 2309 instead of 2307 (v1.6) which doesnt have Android Auto. Thank you
No such thing as "extracting" it from your car.
The files I have are captured as they are downloaded to the car as part of an OTA upgrade. Or, they have been provided courtesy of the dealership.
No other way to capture the file, at least not to my knowledge.
