Patient Thought Her Bridge Can No Longer Be Saved. How To Save a Patient's Teeth and Bridge

  • Due to the Pandemic.. the patient has limited funds and can't afford a new set of crowns or implants. So we did something that used to be impossible. and thanks to the innovations in the dental field we were able to save her teeth and bridge.
Disclaimer: 5 to 10 years was a little bit too optimistic.. it might be lesser than that due to the compromised situation... but it was only to prolong the teeth until a longer and more permanent solution is available..

Actually this is a very expensive treatment with a fair prognosis if not poor. Its possible to do anything but I dont recommend that a professional turn something hopless to poor because patients don't appreciate the effort. All they know it's a poor treatment and it will show one day

@@DrArkhedeLeon good response here. The idea of improving the patient's quality of life during their difficult financial circumstances at the moment by reusing their old bridge is very much appreciated and a good call too, even though guarantee as to how long the reused bridge will last cannot be predicted. It might be that if ever her bridge fails, that their circumstances will have changed for the better and at that point might be able to afford a new set. But for now, this suffices and meets the patient's current circumstances perfectly. Good job doc. Appreciate your videos.

Doc I can't help but be amazed. I've been to 4 dentists over the years...never skipped my visits but later realized most of their work were botched (having unnecessary extraction, terrible ortho planning and execution, non replacement of already damaged pasta, uncaught cavities etc) which should have been mentioned during the yearly cleaning.. but they.choose.to.ignore it until pain is felt thus my current oral problems. Mind you these were known dentists...old dentist who have perhaps chosen money over service. I hope to meet you soon to get my oral concerns addressed correctly. And I'm excited to visit your clinic soon.

I have done similar temporary repair in the past. Life span of the repair is unpredictable. The strength of the patient’s bite and remembering to not tear food with the bridge are factors. There is insufficient amount of core material above the gum line to be a well retained bridge for long. The roots will eventually split

Much appreciated. But i would like to add 1 point about its longevity. Since both the abutment teeth are post & core treated, they cannot withstand any kind of non-axial force. Thus, i hope the anterior guidance during centric & eccentric relation is absolutely free to avoid any kind of detrimental force in anterior FPD for its longevity. Anyway, the final outcome was great. Keep it up.

Great job on this one Doc. I like how you customized the treatment to fit the patient's budget. I have 3 questions :
    1. The post used, was it made of fiberglass?
    2. How many centimeters was the dowel into the normal tooth structure?
    3. Can the patient bite normally, or does she need to still be very careful and not use her upper incisors too much?
The reason I asked is that I recently had a zirconia crown with a dowel because the existing tooth structure was too little. The root canal treatment was 20 years ago, yet I took care of it. I was also wondering if I should bite normally or I should be careful.

Không thể an tâm như răng lành ban đầu những phương pháp đó làm tốt thì bạn vẫn ăn nhai tốt bình thường và tốt hơn nên hạn chế cắn vật cứng ở vùng răng đó.

The fact that the root canals are absolutely compromised and you didn’t retreat them???? Hmmmm…. Bridge may be salvaged but the apical pathology that soon will occur will be a whole other problem…

I used to play hero like this, but pts always come back mad and angry if and when it does fail. Lol. So I just make them pay more for solid options from the start or get a flipper. Less headache in the end. Haha.
