    Guy and Jean are the rockstars of this project! Being able to store the shell indoors also makes the work so much easier in the middle of winter.

    Personal opinion / suggestion: honestly you'll probably be much happier if the dinette outlets are over the table rather than under... it'll also be way more apparent something is still plugged in during a bed conversion.

  • @adriankung1625

    That wood framing is really a must -- I see so many van-builds where people install roof vents and just screw the flanges into basically nothing -- just thru the roof, lol. Crazy.
    Two suggestions -- you probably want to use a "lagune" table for your dinette area, so you can swivel and swing the table easily to where it is most needed, or get it outta the way easily too. Also, consider putting your fridge where it is in the Escape -- you'd get really tired of bending and/or reaching down every time you want to get something from the fridge or put anything back. Shoulder height fridge -- trust me.
    You've certainly got the right idea with the roof-vents. Truth is Maxx fans are rife with motherboard issues -- best thing to do is wire right past those mother-boards and use a separate motor controller which you can put somewhere convenient for you and wire it to the fan.
    Coming along great though -- interested to see what you do for insulation...
    Cheers!...from North Vancouver

    I don't usually comment on RUclips- but stumbled across your account when looking for others with old bigfoot trailers. We are bringing home a very similar model of bigfoot - 1985. And we also have a baby about the same age - about 8 months now. Anyways - super invested in you trailer reno and also appreciate your family content :). Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Levi's Dad, peeking in from the roof! Levi's Mom taking point, so cool! Props to all! So great that Mom and Dad or Frankie's Grandparents are so versed and even willing to research for the trailer. Really others that may come across another older trailer like yours can use these videos for their blueprint on refurbishing a classic trailer. Sustainability to a newer, better, improved trailer of your dreams! I'm so excited for you! Always all the best to the three of you! Plus both Mom's and Dad's too! 😊❤

    If you are not going to have a shower, I am not sure why you need a water heater. They take up space. Doing dishes - use a spray on, wipe off cleaner (like dawn, but you can mix your own refills, so it is greener) and then rinse in cold water. When you do need hot water, use an electric kettle, which you will also appreciate for cooking, etc. One less thing to go wrong.

    • @Autumn1988

      BecuAse if they’re travelling with a baby having easy access to hot water for washing hands, baby bath is really important

    • @weedysea7002
      @weedysea7002 3 месяца назад +1

      well, for washing hands, hot water really doesn't kill germs, unless it is hot enough to do damage to your actual skin. And, as for bathing the baby, he will outgrow a baby bathtub very soon, meanwhile they can just heat enough water to get the tepid water needed for a baby bath.

    • @LeahandLevi
      @LeahandLevi  3 месяца назад +1

      After living in a Prius for a year with only cold water the one luxury that we wanted was to be able to have hot water haha. It’s maybe not the most necessary but it’s going to be nice to have haha

      @@LeahandLevi yeah, I guess I came at it for the opposite direction, our first trailer (all our trailers were folding) we did not have HW. The second did, and at first it seemed cool, then it just seemed unnecessary. The third one also had it, that was because I did not have a choice.

  • @lisaphares2286

    I would put the fridge in the cabinet by the bed that hasn’t been purposed yet. You can access it from both sides, it will have more space around it so easier access and better lighting. I would also think drawers over cabinets for your bed base, they can be deeper as they would sit over your water tank(s). Have you thought of arches to support the fiberglass that will be imbedded in other structures and part of the walls with insulation?

    Look into a LAGUN table leg system somewhere for moving added table space.

  • @grit5133
    @grit5133 3 месяца назад +6

    Putting the water tanks at the back of the trailer could make the trailer tow poorly. You need to study how the weight distribution from front to back affects towing.

    • @LeahandLevi
      @LeahandLevi  3 месяца назад +1

      The water tanks will rarely be filled while travelling. Only on short stints to and from a campground once we’ve arrived in an area. But we have already adjusted the plans to have the tanks closer to the axle 👍🏼

    Is the kitchen table able to convert to a bed? Because where will the kid(s) sleep as they get older? I doubt they’ll want to cuddle up with mom & dad as a preteen & teen. Plus with the way boys sweat at that age, I doubt mom & dad will want to smell that after a day of hiking either.

    Having a trailer without a bathroom is a big NO. You will have your fridge next to your toilet ? For pull out..😂why not build the fridge into the kitchen area? Also fun pulling out a toilet in the night for anyone who needs it , not , no privacy , the smell 😂😂😂 good luck … I’m sorry but it would have been easier to just purchase a trailer with a bathroom probably cheaper .
