And it's the people trying to cancel her for this that would also argue that "Taylor can change" Ya know? Matty couldn't have possibly changed at all over time, to them. It's just nuts how much people think they get to have a say in anyone's life. Let alone Taylor freaking Swift
Being a black 1975 fan who goes to to their concerts hearing someone say “as a POC I now feel unsafe going to see Taylor because he might be there” is so funny. I’m sorry The misinformation about him running unchecked online is crazy. 1975 is bigger in South America and Asia than they are in the US, *waves* we black people are in attendance at their concerts.
What is it like attending a concert from the 1975 as a black person? I don't want to assume anything, but I can imagine that poc receive more harrassment going out, especially in predominantly white places. But judging from the backlash to matty healy, I dont think anyone in the crowd would stand for that. At least i truly hope so, tho i know how fucked up the world can be. From my experience as a woman, I have become a bit desensitized to certain 'dangers' like I wouldn t bat an eye at someone shouting wh*re at me anymore, I can't lock myself inside my room. In that sense, your presence becomes a statement, even if you do not always want it to be, sometimes you just want to go somewhere without being perceived as 'the other'. Are there any specific factors that might influence your decision to go somewhere (from your personal experience, not just as a black person)? Do you take any specific precautions? How can we make sure that people feel properly welcomed and safe? Sorry if these are too many questions, and/or too personal. Your comment just interests me and I want to learn more, but these kinds of things you can't just google.
@@yara5502 Lmao Im so tired of white liberals gaslighting black people. Can you tell me the difference between a white liberal making racist jokes and a white conservative doing the same? It's literally just white people making minorities the butt of their jokes for the sole purpose of entertaining themselves. I know you don't realize this but being a lefty doesn't really excuse racism or misogyny. If Stephen Crowder said the same white liberals would criticize him. And anyone with at least 2 brain cells can tell that Adam and Nick only backtracked to save face. Why didn't they say that part was a joke 3 months ago when it was only controversial with 1975 fans?
@@stefano94103 I’m not, the podcast came out on Feb and at the time POC fans were pissed. We know the podcast is satirical and non serious and we know he has an edgy sense of humour but we all felt like he overstepped by going on the Adam Friedland show. The host of the podcast who bought up the ‘GG’ reference in the first place in a later podcast admitted that he (the host) said it as a joke and that Matty just went along with it. I still don’t think he should’ve went along with that joke because it’s not funny but going along with a bad joke isn’t enough to make me stop listening to music I love, we just hope he learns from that situation. He’s a typical British left wing progressive who thinks his politics make it ok to joke about anything, in London you u can randomly throw a rock in any direction and hit one of these type of guys, they’re very common. Matty is just too famous for immature teenage humour & should know better. I still don’t think that’s enough to call him a Nazi hitler bigot though. Even as a fan I know there’s things to criticise Matthew Healy on but the internet has still gone too far presenting lies as facts.
Also from a younger fan perspective, I see the "mother is mothering" thing as a joke. Since I see her as a role model and growing up, have learned so many good lessons from her songs, speeches, etc. But, I think some younger fans kind of overdo it and don't know how to be a fan without attaching their entire identity to becoming a Taylor Swift fans. It's like if taylor does a few questionable things, they feel like their own morals are shaken up. It's kind of insane
@@soulfireonfire6423Eminem has said many times that he’s not there to be a parent. You’re the parent, not him. Britney Spears has said the same thing. They’re just making art and entertaining people, their job is not to parent anyone’s children.
@@one_more_chance4694 I think that's Mitski you're confusing her with. Taylor has played along with the "mother is mothering" joke before the champagne problems set a couple weeks ago (Philly I believe). She hasn't said anything condemning fans' outright online behavior.
Honestly it sounds so cringy when I heard a teenage girl swiftie referring to taylor as " mother" "oh mom that's so sad" while listening to Taylor's sad song in a reaction video...
I have to chuckle. It's the only point of Laura's I've disagree with 22:54 this far in. He absolutely has shaken her music to its core and shaped her into I'd say the pain pressed her into her most evolves self.
The problem is a lot of Swifties don’t WANT to know the whole story. Thank you for this video. I’m less than half way through at this point, but so far…haha, thank you for clearing all of this up. Because I just don’t have all that energy to attempt to set everyone straight on this issue haha.
thank you for this detailed video, lauren. you did a very good job. so couple of things. "i found a grey hair on one of my suits, like context in a modern debate, i just took it out" this is a lyric from the 1975 song "give yourself a try" and it perfectly sums up how conversations happen online. all the context is mysteriously removed to fit and further a narrative. i must say the media has done this perfectly. is matty a morally good person? no. has he ever claimed to be that? no. what many ppl don't know is that he's a satirist and has spoken about and cares about many social issues, it's just that he's abrasive and doesn't really have a filter. he's definitely a di*ckhead but some of the things that are being pinned on him are really concerning. your video has done a fine job to put a context on all the things that have been said about him. does these makes the jokes okay? absolutely not. you have all the reason to be offended by it, however, labelling him as the worst person ever is extreme and using his actions to "cancel" taylor is beyond extreme. ofcourse, taylor's activism has always been flawed and she has said herself that she's learning. if you're upset and disappointed in taylor for associating with this man then it's completely fine and understood. if you decide to not support her coz of it, cool. go ahead and do it. however, what's not okay is writing letters to taylor, her parents, her friends and her management to get her to break up with him is parasocial maxxed out to a 100. you clearly need breathe some outside air and at some point have to stop pretending that this "relationship" is affecting you that much. it is not normal, i'm sorry i have to be the one to tell you. i also want to bring up the fact that matty has struggled with addiction and substance abuse in the past. he has said it has altered the way he looks and yet so many people casually bring up his addiction as a way to paint him as a bad person. that's not okay and might i add, not very morally upright of you. as for me, i trust taylor to know who to hang out with. she knows matty well than any of us and knows him from last 10 years so if he makes her happy then let her be. meanwhile, y'all realise that celebrities are not to be idolized and they will f*ck up. lastly, any celebrity that you like probably has/had ties with problematic people. does it make everything okay? no. but does it establish the fact that human beings are complex and not one dimensional? yes. i'll just leave at that.
The only thing I disagree with here is: “is Matty a morally good person? No.” What measure and indicator are using to determine that he is not a morally good person? I think his ongoing activism, support and work for several different worthy causes, makes him a morally good person. I think someone who has close bonds with friends, band mates and their children, for decades, makes someone a morally good person. I think seeking treatment so as to not further hurt his bandmates, makes someone a morally good person. I think being able to own up to mistakes and flaws makes someone a morally good person. I think that refusing to do meet and greets for $ as it takes unnecessary $ out of the hands of his fans so instead meets fans for free, makes someone a morally good person. I could go on…. The point is you don’t become a morally bad person due to some questionable wording. Your actions and millions of other words spoken, determine your morality.
The absolute hypocrisy of people sending HATE to Taylor Swift because they feel Matty Healy has been known to behave with hate is baffling to me. Be the change that you want to see in the world
Thank you for backing up all these claims with real facts! It’s so hard to be on Twitter and see people just regurgitate click bait and out of context quotes. I don’t defend his actions but the claims need to be backed up by facts.
I am a black swiftie and since ive understood the concept misinformation in the media,im not so quick to have an opinion.I think that sone peoole should just admit they always hate Taylor and are just using who she dates as fuel against her.Its noted that in her song "sweet nothing"she addressed people saying she should "do more" and she said im just too soft for all of it!
As for the masterbating, eating meat on stage, etc it comes in a part of the show where he is mocking hyper masculinity. As if it’s not manly enough to eat a steak it has to be a raw one. Thank you Lauren for this deep dive. Matty also talks about being inspired by people like Andy Kaufman who was a comedian in the 70s who was known for pushing the limits to make a point. We can look at it two ways. Is he using his platform to point out problems in the world using art or is he centering himself in the conversation? Do people miss the mark sometimes even though their intent was good? I guess that’s for us to decide.
Yeah, people don't really get Performance Theater. Taken out of context, it is often offensive....the point, but as a Caucasian, he (and I) must be clear with people if underrepresented communities can misconstrue intention. What is frustrating is most of this is caused by fellow Caucasian women pissed about Joever and who she chooses to be with rather than her art.
I should also caveat my comment above that if said groups are genuinely pained by his statements and actions, of course he should do the self-reflection and work to determine the merits of criticism or the reason not to change or apologize. Online vitriol and trauma really reflects how people just need to step back and live life instead of through others.
When people bring up the eating raw meat onstage in a critical context, I can never tell if they're just poking fun at him or if they think it's an actually appalling thing. Maybe I have an unusual point of view, but to me, it's not the most concerning behavior from Matty (and we have further context for those now), and to me, it's more of a gross-out thing (and also a food safety thing just for him--like, my dude, careful you don't get sick) than an immoral thing unless you're vegetarian or vegan. But afaik no one's been like, "I'm vegetarian/vegan and I hate how he ate raw meat on stage." It's so confusing to me. The questions you pose in the last part of your comment feel, to me, important and relevant. I'll try to remember them when I have concerns about how someone is using their platform.
@@mirandabee2323 someone needs to do a critical analysis of Gaga’s meat dress, Matty’s meat eating on stage and Pamela Anderson’s ads for PETA. Compare to Ozzy Osbourne eating a bat on stage, or Bear Grylls chowing down some fresh roadkill for survival. 😅
This is a super thanks Lauren! Seriously you worked soo hard on this and I wanted to give you some love as a thanks. These videos are no joke and take so much work 😘😘
Regarding the supposed Na*i salute - Matty has been doing a salute at this same moment during Love It If We Made It since the song came out, which was many years before Kanye made any remarks on Hitler and was consequently cancelled. The salute has always meant to resemble a regular military salute. Matty would have to know the future to make a Na*i salute during the moment when he mentions Kanye, as years ago nobody knew Kanye was antisemitic and yet, Matty was doing a salute at that moment in the song. Which shows it was always a usual army salute.
"Thank you Kanye, very cool" is a direct quote from Donald Trump. Matty used that gesture to imply that Trump is a N*zi. Trump said this before the song was written, so you're wrong.
THANK YOU. REAL research. Highly appreciated. The people doing this and creating drama are doing what we're NOT SUPPOSED TO DO. Haters are haters and you were never a real fan if you're boycotting her for this. Judge a woman for a man's behavior, when it's misrepresented to high hell. Taylor is a grown woman, smarter than all of us combined. He's misunderstood for real and I'm so tired of the hate. Her lovelife is nobody's business and it's been embarrassing to watch the stans melt down.
@@VLoLa9119 stans act like this. Not fans. If you're ready to trash a female artist, sell her merch and stop being a fan because of who she's dating, you were never a fan. Seriously. That's what makes this ridiculous. Taylor had stans and fans and it's the stans that are acting like children screaming for their "mother"
Yes Lauren!!! Thank you for doing this and being this person! I so appreciate you organizing actual research into one place. People get so up in arms about such irrelevant things. If you like a singer, listen to the music!! Focus on that and not who they’re dating. Thank you for creating this space 46:26 !
🥹 thank you for watching and commenting this!! it means the world to me that you're here. I worked really hard on this video to make sure I took everything into account!
I feel like Phoebe confirms it for me. Taylor has always been huge on PR and her image as a celebrity in addition to as a person and an artist. But Phoebe Bridgers really seems like she couldn’t care less what people think of her, she’s gonna do what she pleases. And she has seemed to be a woman of extremely left, borderline nihilist, anarchist beliefs. She would not be friends with Matty or work with him if at his core he was truly racist/misogynistic/xenophobic. I think that Matty has the same/similar belief system as phoebe, he just has a more surrealistic, appalling approach to making his points. Cause what gets the people who _really_ care listening? Anger. Get mad at Matty Healy, look for full context because context is important to those who believe in real equality, equity and change, and see the actual points he was making in his work. He’s impulsive, and he’s a pretty bad shot; he misses a lot. But I don’t believe that any of it is malicious.
This is really it for me. Phoebe Bridgers is the canary in the coal mine, if she didn't like or associate with Matty, you'd know he's bad news. Matty clearly supports the same things as her, and Taylor (who brought along a diverse, young, progressive group of opening acts, dancers, back up singers and band members, like Phoebe, on the eras tour)... He just runs his mouth, makes less thought-out statements and performances than Taylor. Taylor is so strategic and measured with her words, in interviews and performances. Matty is devil-may-care about his fame. The media latches on to the negative with both their careers... Matty just never stops putting himself out there.
@@kamalporter706 you know, things were not this bad 15 years ago or even 10 years ago. Many “issues” that are called out today were not demonized to the extent that people do today. People were also not immediately “canceled” over one issue that likely was something that was simply overlooked.
@@fruityloops7600 is it really necessary to demonize someone over one problem or mistake that exists in this person’s life after a lifetime of positive contributions?
Thank you for actually doing the research and highlighting that a lot of things are being taken out of context. Yes, Matty is a controversial figure but he certainly isn't even half as bad as some people on Twitter paint him to be. I hope swifties will move on and let them live
Same. I listen to artists like Machine Gun Kelly, Nessa Barrett, and Morgan Wallen (apparently most Swifties haven't caught up with his numerous apologies and extended stay in rehab following his controversy). I really have no say in any of this. I feel like this misinformation train is getting into 2016 territory again where people are waiting hand and foot to deem Taylor "over".
Swifties have a big problem. They blindly put anyone who Taylor supports on such a big pedestal and shower with praise. But when the relationship ends, they put so much hate into that person without even knowing anything personal that happened. A lot of ex jaylor accounts are now all ranting about how joe was a bad fit for her, like really. It’s none of our business.
What’s interesting to me is I thought they were a great fit from what I saw. It turns out they weren’t. Looking back at music she wrote it was clear it wasn’t a smooth relationship. That’s okay. It doesn’t mean he’s this terrible awful human. They were right for one another for a season and tried to make it work. I don’t understand the hatred people are pouring out for a situation we don’t even understand. We can also appreciate a relationship while also acknowledging it wasn’t right anymore.
Thank you for being the voice of reason Lauren! Honestly, it’s horrifying what people say. This is a case of “guilty by association” and “slippery slope” demonization. I have seen similar things in other places and communities in society.
For those who have now pretended to forget who Matty Healy is (as if he was never there) remember what I write because he will be back soon...I am pretty convinced that Taylor faked the breakup with Matty.
I have this saying that being a Swiftie isn't solely being a fan of Taylor's music it's caring about her as a person and not seeing her as a circus monkey which is something many in the fandom have problems with, thank you for speaking out
This is the most objective and sane take I've seen so far. Thank you. As a fan of Matty and The 1975, yes it was so messed up of him to laugh and go along with those jokes. Matty is not perfect, neither is anyone. I get why people might dislike him but the misinformation going around right now is crazy. Important to note but I believe the profile you mentioned at the very end was actually done before the podcast thing? I mean they interviewed him back in Jan but it was released a couple of days ago. I might be wrong though.
Matty Healy is from a comedic family, his mother is Denise Healy , related to very tongue in cheek British tv show Benidorm so his sense of humour doesn't surprise me. I think everyone stuffs up but at the heart of it he's a good person who would not want to hurt anyone. Why do people think they have the right to tell TS who she can associate with anyway ? Why did they think Joe Alwyn was so great, he wouldn't even say anything about her in public when she spent her life saying how great he was. I think he looked down on her, and she couldn't be herself. I love the 1975 music and that's it, I have that right
Thanks for approaching this like a reasonable adult! There's a reason people think swifties are just a bunch of children, because so many of them act like children.
Thank you so much Lauren for you input on this situation, you are amazing and I’ve loved your content since you first put out your lwymmd music video reaction will forever continue to watch your videos, love you
Your sweater reflects the quality of this video. As for Taylor, it is time for the tabloids, the haters and the oh so self-righteous to stop putting her down.
omg peter hahhaha I couldn't tell if this comment was a compliment or a diss at first 😂 I had to think for a second there hahaha THANK YOU FOR WATCHING & COMMENTING!
yeah we would, we been talking about matty healy lol and swifties were talking bout jacks stupid statement too. her being blamed for being w him is not the same as being blamed for him being him and also not the same as the general public blaming her for kanye west acting a fool until they got proved wrong. this narrative is so weird lol
Um, this isn't the serve you think it is: Dylan O Brien received flack for his girlfriend. So did Chris Evans, so did Harry Styles during the Olivia Wilde relationship. It just wasn't as noticeable because Taylor is the most famous person on earth rn. I am so over feminism being all about lowering the bar for women to men's shitty standards instead of raising the bar for men. It's BS imo, not to be disrespectful.
@@jr0ckz89This narrative is crazy to me. No one is blaming Taylor for Matty's racism, they're blaming her for giving this man a platform. Like, no one should be excused for shitty behavior just because of their gender😭😭
Hey Lauren thank you for speaking out and bringing forward all the research and information it was well done you always do your best to bring forward straight and honest content !
As a fan of Taylor Swift and The 1975 I thank you for doing the research. So many people read a Buzzfeed article and think they have it all figured out. I'm fully behind the rumours that they are still together just laying low. Here's hoping
finally someone on the other side of this that has actually taken the context into consideration!! your perspective on this is so insightful, I just made a vid on my end going through a deep dive on this in the lens of someone who’s been a fan of the 1975 for a decade. Thankfully we’re all on the same page ❤
More from me. Matty is also a satirical performer. The living room set up, the flask, the bottle of wine, the smoking. He is usually sober, it's 'a bit,' he does. He is known to b an absolute sweetheart in the biz. Extremely talented song writer & singer & performer. Very original. Everything u pointed out was taken out of context. He dated Liam Hemsworths current gf for years before Liam. She is gorgeous & very TS like. U mentioned Cipriani 's a very famous, fabulous restaurant in NYC. Tatum Channing was there because he is engaged to Zoe Kravitz (Jewish thru her dad) obviously this video was made before TK. The 1975 have been a band since middle school. They r superstars in the UK & the world. #1 hits galore. I am sure he adores TS, could love her. However her massive fame is a double edge sword. I think by her lyrics she loved him. Ugh, the Swifties...possessive group. Most have her happiness in mind & trust her choice's. But some r just crazy & need to calm down. U Lauren r a very good Podcaster. I love the pink couch, I have 1 too. U need a beautiful colorful print on the wall. That's it, it's a great soft stylist space. I love, love TTPD. Really love it.
I subscribed to your channel after I watched this video ❤. Thank you for doing real research and setting people straight...all these "fans" that are trying to cancel her are delusional and sick in the head!!!!

@@LaurenLipman OMG you replied to me!!❤️❤️❤️ That means a lot to me ☺️ I can relate to the anxiety especially when you have so many followers and it's a video about Taylor who has so so so many fans and is known and loved around the planet lol...but you did a fantastic job 💯 you have great judgement and I love your content 💞☺️ keep up the amazing work 👏💗
I don't think people are sick in the head to be offended by a man who gets off on seeing black women abused. It obviously means nothing to a lot of her fans but it does mean a lot to most POC
@@stefano94103 first of all you have a point it's not okay for a guy to get off on that but I don't think he was saying he was getting off on that I think he said and correct me if I'm wrong he turned on porn and that's what was on I'm sure we've all watched pnorn where it was degrading women of all colors and for them to pick that out and blow it out of context is ridiculous and some of them are sick in the head and a lot of them just like to be offended by every little thing these people need to get a life I'm sorry
Thank you for this video. My take is... it's childish behaviour to want to control your idol's life. Like look how is panning out for KPOP bands? My opinion based in first me being a woman and and second a Swiftie: makes me uncomfortable that a group of Taylor fans are holding her accountable for something that she clearly doesn't have anything to do with what this man said or did, and also how people feel triggered, hurt and not safe just by reading out of context headlines and interviews. It's cringy. It's selfish. Writing a letter to DEMAND someone to stop their relationship based on your feelings and bias? Threatening them by saying you are throwing out things related to them, selling your tickets? Its so out of touch with reality. This cancel culture is getting out of hand, now we also victimize people JUST by association without having the whole context which let me say we WILL NEVER have. These are real people, fame and money doesn't save them pain, sadness, stress, anxiety and loss and of course they will not show it to the media or their fans. There should be more context for Matty Healy and you know, I bet this is just a performance and he has constructed this character to protect himself in a way but also for expression, as part of his stage persona. And Taylor Swift is just like any other person that just broke up a really long relationship and wants to feel wanted again, I mean she wrote Bejeweled for a reason. And if this man is helping her doing that, just leave the woman have her self-steem boost! She doesn't owe you any explanation. And for the record, before all of this bullshit drama I've only heard one 1975 song which I first heard and fan out for a cover by Verité. Also I'm so sorry for saying this, but this ''feelings over facts'' is really damaging society in general. Not having the opportunity to have spaces for open discussions and hearing different ideas which could be beneficial for us as a form of progressing as humanity. When our differences stop being something that makes humans grow apart by labelling them, using them to perpetuate narratives of oppression which leads that this ''oppresed'' groups can't see beyond the anger. Differences are what makes us unique, different should be considered as a beautiful gift that needs no explanations and labels, we are all human beings. People, Just go out and touch grass.
Remember when everyone held her personally accountable for letting Trump win the election by not saying anything, or attending the Women’s March in NYC? Nobody cared for 10 years prior when she said nothing meaningful about anything, and suddenly she’s responsible for all men’s actions?
An alternative headline could read, "Matty Healy gets real on fragile masculinity in new interview," and that headline would actually be less misleading and more factually accurate than, "Matty Healy says dating a STRONG WOMAN is EMASCULATING!" I welcome men openly discussing masculinity and its flaws in a self-aware manner.
Thanks for this incredibly-thoughtful video, Lauren. This is why social media is so frustrating. We can't have these in-depth and nuanced conversations that are so necessary to fully understand complex situations and complex humans. Things can't be reduced to short, outrage-inducing comment sections. (yes, I understand the irony of trying to convey this thought in a RUclips comment section!)
Thank you for sharing proper research. I was never the girl that grew up reading magazines or looking at the gossip columns. I am happy that I never got into the personal lives of celebrities. The media have been hounds, the fans have been sketchy since little pieces of a podcast were *edited* to confuse us, everyone. I adore TS for her charity work, donations and dedication to fans, especially those cancer patients she visits. None which is publicized until the other party shares the donations made by Taylor Swift. I am here for the music. I have no say in her personal life and no fans should dictate what she does with her personal relationships. Everything is speculation until is has been confirmed from the primary source which is TS or Tree.
God bless you sweetie for being so concerned for everyone’s feelings. I’m just so glad I’m not a millennial. How fucking exhausting to constantly feel like you need to apologize for EVERYTHING. Ugh. It makes me tired for you.
I'm a Millennial and I couldn't be bothered to cater to everyone's feeling in a room. I'll never offend/insult anyone on purpose, but I'm also not bending my knee and apologise because someone got something the wrong way and gets offended about the smallest things.
On the clips of him doing some type of salute. First you can see he has his hand up to his forehead before he extends his arm. This is a military salute, yes but it's not the Nazi salute. That was a straight arm raised from the side of the body with the hand flat and held at an angle. The second clip where he has his hand IN A FIST held up straight over his head is the black power salute. Don't believe me? Take a look at the photos of the 1968 Olympics in which two black American Olympians did the salute from the winners podium while the anthem played. There are images everywhere of each of these salutes it's easy to find this info. No one wanted to look for it. I did what you did and researched him and listened to many interviews of his along the way. One thing I want to point out that may add some clarity for some. Matty cites some of his hero's and influences to be Andy Kaufman, Charlie Kaufman and David Bryne. Now I'm Gen X so I know who those 3 people are and what it would mean for them to be your influences. Andy is a name some might have heard but was an extremely controversial comedian and performance artist popular in the 70's. They made a movie about him called "Man In The Moon". Charlie Kaufman is a writer and his movies include, Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind and Adaptation just to name a few. David Bryne was the lead singer of The Talking Heads a late 70's early 80's new wave band. He also did a form of performance art when performing and in general is a very interesting dude who we all knew was on the spectrum before we knew there was one. All of these people pushed boundaries with their work and challenged societal norms. Andy Kaufman being the one who went the furthest. You literally had no idea what Andy might do and if it was real or fake and it was often extremely surreal to watch. The line was so blurry that the vast majority of his fans thought his death to be an elaborate stunt and some still do. I am typing all this not as a defense for Matty but again as a way to understand what he is doing and where it comes from.
It was actually the host who said that he was watching Ghetto Gaggers and he laughed and played along. The host later clarified that he was joking and that Matty didn't watch GG to his knowledge. He was just trying to get a reaction.
I actually became a fan of Matty and the 1975 after I investigated the online "moral outrage" caused by his relationship to Taylor. It was my introduction to the phenomenon of context collapse and social media virality- the astonishing power of a forwarded incorrect/half truth! So few people take the time to research the headline before posting it as their moral stand for the day. It is very easy to find the context and actual quotes from his many interviews. You did excellent research and this held up well.
Thank you for all the research you did for this video! As a 34 year old women, this cancel culture is so out of hand. Todays society is too sensitive, like why are even trying to interpret his gestures on stage? It’s the same thing the crazies did when Taylor did the interview with the hand gesture and people were like omg she isn’t safe and needs help… really… that is CRAZY. Take a chill pill and let her just be a women in the dating scene.
I find this whole cancel culture has become so toxic. People jump on claims and spread information about someone nowadays without doing any legitimate research. It’s honestly like a hive mind mentality and it’s awful and quite scary honestly. Thank you Lauren for making a thoughtful and informative video that covered facts and not just gossip.
Thank you for covering this! I wish I had found this video sooner, because I was bothered by the fact that this interview got SO MUCH backlash! Ridiculous
I'm late to this video BUT knowing that they've now split I fully blame these insane FAKE fans who only care about controlling Taylor Swift. Because of them I had to watch Taylor break on stage singing "I don't wanna live" and they feel absolutely no remorse for the fact that BOTH her and Matty are in pain. They say it's because of Joe and Matty was just a rebound to excuse what they've done. Taylor has made it VERY clear that she is a people pleaser so of course Taylor would leave him to appease her angry mob that was coming after her. She is a 33 year old woman and I don't think these so called fans realize that there's parts of her life that has a ticking clock on it such as her child bearing years. In just 2 years, less in fact, she will be considered a geriatric pregnancy should she find love and be able to finally become a mother. They just might have taken that from her. What she does, who she dates, loves, has sex with or who she gets married to is NONE OF OUR DAMN BUSINESS AND WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SAY IN! It's not her responsibility to support any cause including gay or trans rights. If she chooses to publicly then great, if not then again it's none of our damn business! I am a 44 year old woman and a proud Taylor Swift fan. I've supported her music from day 1. I personally wish she would of kept some of her opinions to herself as it literally brought me to tears when she stated that "republican women aren't capable of having a intelligent debate" and that we're also fascists if we supported President Trump. Lumping all Republicans in the far right box. I am a Republican as are my girls who were raised on her music and told that Taylor was somebody they could look up to. In those moments of hearing how she felt about me and my girls, all because of what political party we belonged to hurt on a level that I didn't expect. It made me question if she'd even want me and my girls at her concert. Should we not go? Should we stop supporting her because she made it clear that she hates us? I decided that at the end of the day that I was still going to love and support her regardless of how she felt about me because I respect her opinion even if she is wrong. Back to topic, my point is, her opinion and life choices is just that, HERS! I think I know enough about Taylor to know that if she actually met me and heard how her words hurt me and those like me who support her that she'd feel horrible. I know of her well enough to know that the last thing she ever wants to do is hurt others. So for her fans to not give a damn about how their actions are hurting her angers me like no other. They want to say "mother is mothering" well this actual mother feels the need to put those so called fans in their place and remind them that they've not caused pain to the one person who would go as far as breaking her own heart to make them happy. SHAME ON THEM! If I was those who are spewing hate about Matty I would be embarrassed for not doing actual research into what was being said about Matty like you did. He's not who the media portrays him as. I can think of several other people the media has lied about and tried to ruin. Johnny Depp being one of them until the truth came out in court. My point is stop blindly following what you hear on social media or the news and look into what they're saying for yourself and then make a decision based on the truth and facts you find. Stop allowing others to tell you how to feel and who to like and dislike. Lastly stay the heck out of people's private lives that you have no part in, celebrity or not. Other people's lives are not your business.
honestly he’s just a very chaotic and impulsive guy a lot of the time and he has absolutely said and done and agreed with some interesting crap that has gotten him in some trouble. but when you actually look at the majority of the things he speaks about and speaks up for i think it’s much clearer that he is not this completely bigoted awful person and actually has some decent morals to him. again absolutely not perfect and i’ve seen some of the terrible things he has said and done. but as with most things in the media it’s truly much more complex and nuanced than tabloids have time or money to get into and people make snap judgments on out of context things. this video was so well done and i commend you for taking such a neutral and factual approach to it! definitely one of the best summaries of the situation that provides context, resources, and gives room for voices that matter to speak on these issues. great job lauren!!
Great video, I think one thing that is easily overlooked, and kind of hard to understand is that Matty and the whole band really change characters with each albums, so like the first album they were angsty teens, the next one they were rock stars on opioids, and the latest of Matty's characters has been the drunken incel, constantly asking to be cancelled. Now are these characters really just him, or does he let the bit take over his life, idk, but it makes him entertaining that's for sure. At the end of the day, he's not a malicious guy, he's just a bit cringe.
Excellent video. I’ve been a fan of both Taylor and the 1975 fan for about a decade now, so it was interesting watching people misunderstand a lot of things about both Taylor and Matty that seemed obvious to me. Which isn’t anyone’s fault! I think being offended makes total sense when you lack context, and even with context…there’s no obligation to suddenly start loving him as a person. But it’d be cool if everyone would just be a bit more rational lol. Well-researched video and thanks for all the work you put into this, and your positive vibes the whole way through!
Love the video, Lauren! I'm glad somebody here finally decided to do actual research and back up claims with facts. It's exhausting to see a lot of Matty's actions be taken out of context on twitter (and social media in general) and twisted to look like something it's not. As a POC swiftie myself, I'm not bothered by Taylor dating Matty at all. I may not necessarily like Matty but Taylor's relationship doesn't affect me in any way shape or form, so there's no sense in getting all worked up over it. Plus, Taylor shouldn't be held accountable for Matty's actions. She's not responsible for what he does, and it's exhausting to see swifties on twitter trying to hold her accountable for something HE did. It's insane that more people are trying to cancel Taylor rather than Matty himself. I will never stop loving Taylor because her music touched my heart in a way no other artist has, and I've delved into who she is as a person and I love who she is. 💗
Calling Healy a Nazi for his song mocking the Trump/Kanye fascist meltdown in the USA is like indicting Swift as an attempted murderess for "Fortnight".
I have had so much anxiety over watching this video, because it’s has been such a sore topic for me, particularly being a part of both fandoms. I truly appreciate how considered you were, not just putting out a video based on gut emotional reactions to headlines/articles without doing any due diligence to understand the actual context. I appreciate you assuring us that all feelings are valid, because it’s true. Even though I don’t agree with a lot of people’s negative opinions of Matty Healy, I understand that it’s not my place to invalidate a person of a particular communities’ feelings, particularly when I am not a part of them. I also can’t believe you read out something that I wrote to you about Matty Healy breaking down toxic masculinity walls, because that to me is a huge part of what I respect about him. He is nowhere near perfect, but nobody ever is. As long as we continue to hold him accountable where necessary, he continues to fight for what he believes in, which I believe his intentions are to do the right thing. We also need to remember that we can’t always hold everyone in our lives nor the people we look up to to our own moral standards all the damn time, because everyone has different morals/standards/beliefs etc. but we can respect each other, and try to educate one another/have open conversations, even if the conclusion is that we agree to disagree. Thank you Lauren, you are always so thoughtful and considerate and provide a safe space for all people to feel validated in their feelings and I really appreciate that x
I don't buy the "happiest she's ever been" comment. I'm sure she's on an emotional rollercoaster- you can see she's happy on stage but also very emotional too
Well people aren’t listening to what she is saying ! If they were really listening to her words they should be elated I have never been happier in EVERY ASPECT of my life! EVERY ASPECT!!!
I just spent the last week discovering this entire love story. I'm not a Taylor, or The 1975 fan (am now) but it all started after watching Scandy on Utube Taylor documentary. I was hooked, and see this as such a wild love story. My heart yearns for them both as it all was destroyed. By her fans, and by his cowardly fear of being overshadowed (which he was) by her fame. Not saying he doesn't love Gabriette, but feel he almost had to propose/getting married to try to stop the Swift fan hate. I still hope for their secret love, and passionate getaways. Because they both turned out some great music from it. But he burnt her to the ground just to try to get away from the hate before he fkd his career. SAD. 😢
I LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU LAUREN!! I agree with everything that you said in this video. Thank you for doing this. For someone (ME!) who doesn't have the time and patience to listen to an hour long podcast that I don't really like and do research and read a bunch of articles, I really appreciate you doing all of this. Thank you for this. Love yah!! ❤️🩹
Good work Lauren. Respect for doing great research and clearing up all the BS floating around Matty Healy. The poor guy has been so maligned for no reason. You did an excellent job. I really appreciated this video.
I love the music of the 1975. And I absolutely love the music of Taylor Swift. Both are genius. And every time swifteys are toxic, then they dont stay behind the Values Taylor has. She would never stay behind her fans being toxic to someone she loves. PERIOD
From what I’ve seen, the GG (adult website) thing is being seen as the “worst” of Healy’s crimes, and that just smacks of the sex-negativity that has absolutely invaded fandom cultures. (Vox recently did a great article on this.) As a kinky woman, I have to point out that our fantasies form very deep in our psyches, often at a very young age, for all kinds of illogical reasons beyond our control. I enjoy content that others would find horrid and sexist. I have fantasies I would absolutely not act out for real, without the consent of everyone involved. I strongly object to the idea that enjoying a certain kind of content or having certain kinds of fantasies automatically makes you a bad person who would like to do those things for real. Now, is it the wisest move to talk about it on a podcast that is not made for that audience, and to make jokes? No. I think Healy is foolish for doing that and he did cause real offense, whether he intended to or not. Let’s focus the conversation on that, where it should be focused, please.
: points to username and waves hello: Also Rule 34. And Rule 34a. And Rule 34b. So much kink is just escapism from real life but unless you're involved in it, it seems crazy or abusive. In reality, things like that are heavily negotiated and there are rules that people who play kinky games follow because they know if they step over the line they're doing something harmful.
I never minded the stuff he did on stage, I’ve always understood that as him leaning into the typical rock star persona. The nazi salute was him mocking Trump and Kanye-good intention, bad execution. That seems to be the case for a lot of his little stunts. What bothered me a lot is the porn story and hearing the ways he conversed with those guys on the podcast. I listened to as much as I could, but it was very agonizing to listen to that conversation. It sort of made me realize that this isn’t just a stage persona for him-he really talks like that even when no one’s watching. That’s when I really took a step back to realize what was going on. Furthermore, his response to this backlash might be the worst of all. Essentially saying that anyone who cares about these things is either lying or just dumb. It doesn’t matter how much he claims to support marginalized groups, not when his actions clearly suggest otherwise :/ I’m still a fan of The 1975 as a band, and I’m still a Swiftie. But definitely to a lesser extent now. His actions are harmful, her choosing to date him is hurtful. Working together is one thing (in fact I’d love to hear a Taylor/1975 collab), but being “madly in love” speaks volumes about what someone values in a person. It’s a major let down to know that she doesn’t see this stuff as a dealbreaker. Especially since we’ve all been led to believe that she is against his type of behavior.
ughhh i know the podcast WAS TERRIBLE to listen to, I hated it, I hated every second of it. Honestly I agree with a lot of what you're saying and I just hope that he's just a quick lil summer thing 🤷🏻♀
@@LaurenLipman I felt I needed a shower after that podcast! But thank you for such a researched, context-driven summary for those that relied it quick clips & tabloids to form their opinions!
@LaurenLipman Leaked images from fans who got accidental prints on vinyl lyrics showing that one of the 1989 vault tracks was allegedly to feature 1975. And that's bringing all this back to the surface.
@LaurenLipman I'm not sure if it's real. It just reignited a lot of the negativity from before. This video helped explain this situation to new swifties. 🙌🏻
you know, i wonder if these "fans" hold themselves responsible for everything that's ever been said & done by the people in their lives? Holding her up on this huge pedestal is damaging to her and them, nobody on this earth is perfect. damn.
I researched this whole thing too cause I didn’t get why Matty was being so criticized. I’m a big 1975 fan. Actually so is Taylor. Matty did nothing wrong. The Swifties decided that they didn’t want Matty with Taylor so they decided to engage in a smear campaign against Matty with the help of the media to bully Taylor into dumping him. They are looking for anything they can get to use against him. Unbelievable. Good video 👍. Cancel culture at it’s worse. That podcast was totally misinterpreted and misunderstood. I heard it. He never said anything about Ice Spice . That wasn’t him. He didn’t mean he watched that porn. It was a bit. It’s not his podcast. Please. 😂Crazy part Matty has always been a vocal supporter of social issues and marginalized communities and the LGBT+. Matty is not racist he is not homophobic he is not anti Semitic. Let’s put this in perspective. He’s not a serial killer or mass murderer. Nicki Minaj s husband is a convicted rapist and killer. He did apologize. Everyone needs to move on. I get what Taylor sees in Matty. He’s very talented and charismatic. Listen to 1975 s new album . It’s great. She’s not dumping him for 14 year cockroaches and the Gaylors. Please. 😂
Ppl love Trump after his grab ‘em by the pussy comments, and his Kanye comments, but they wanna cancel Matty for some porn jokes. The amount of depraved people out there actually doing depraved things far outweighs anything stupid that Matty says.
thank you. i get what she see in him too. unfortunatly i do belive that the break up (if they ever were a couple) has to do with the loud noise so called fans made. that is realy sad.
Love all your videos, but I couldn’t finish this one, not bc of the topic, but just re reading from news/media boring 🙁 but you do great with all your others !!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video, Lauren - and thank you for providing us with sources! I agree with you that Taylor’s life is her own. If people believe she doesn’t stand for the things they value, they can take their money elsewhere and move on with their lives. It is not up to us to change other people EVER, whether they are right or wrong in their choices. But we *can* make choices that align with our values, even when that means leaving someone behind us!
she wrote a whole song on this topic about her toxic fans. But Daddy, I love him: I forget how the West was won I forget if this was ever fun I just learned these people only raise you To cage you Sarahs and Hannahs in their Sunday best Clutchin' their pearls, sighing, "What a mess" I just learned these people try and save you 'Cause they hate you I'll tell you something right now I'd rather burn my whole life down Than listen to one more second of all this bitchin' and moanin' I'll tell you something 'bout my good name It's mine alone to disgrace I don't cater to all these vipers dressed in empath's clothing God save the most judgmental creeps Who say they want what's best for me Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see Thinkin' it can change the beat Of my heart when he touches me And counteract the chemistry And undo the destiny You ain't gotta pray for me Me and my wild boy and all of this wild joy If all you want is gray for me Then it's just white noise, and it's just my choice I'll tell you something right now You ain't gotta pray for me Me and my wild boy and all of this wild joy (He was chaos, he was revelry) If all you want is gray for me Then it's just white noise, and it's my choice
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU!!!!! I’m so happy you were shared on a comment shared on this topic!!! You go girl!!! I 1,000% have the same opinions on Taylor Swift!!!! Love her!!!!!
While I stand by Taylor's life being absolutely NONE of my business. However, her going radio silent after the introduction of more than 350 anti-LGBTQIA+ laws in the US then giving a half-assed tired speech about it really rubbed me off the wrong way. She advocated so much for us during The Lover Era and now she's barely doing anything... well she's done nothing. And don't come around telling me "well maybe she's doing it behind the scenes." No she has a gigantic platform. If she really was an ally then she should've used it to oppose these pathetic laws. Those are just my two cents and I stand by my opinion. Enraged toxic boot-licking swifties come for me or not I honestly DGF ❤
Fans really get TOO invested into celebrities personal lives. I'm sure not all these fans who are complaining and trying to "cancel" people aren't perfect themselves. You can support a persons art without agreeing with their personal choices and beliefs, you'll be okay, I promise. Everyone needs to chill lol
Also I feel like it's the newer generations of Swifties that are doing the absolute most with all of this. OG swifties couldn't care less about her personal choices/dating life, we just want her to be happy and release all her re-records lmao
Oh, I so agree with you about everything. I am a much older swiftie, and seeing these gullible Tiktok generation just spew things without any research is messed up. I wish someone would shut down Tiktok now. Everything is taken out of context these days. Tiktoker's are so lazy, too. I also hate that mother term. It is so icky and pathetic. I am an OG fan from Tim McGraw, and sometimes I wish we were still back then with real fans who are here for the music and don't care who she is dating. Just hope people get smarter, but I don't hold out any hope for that. Great breakdown, and I hope all these Tiktoker's see this video. Probably not because it is 48 min and they have short attention spans.

As a 35 year old swiftie who has adored her since day 1.. who Taylor dates/her personal life is NONE of my business. Simple as that!
Exactly.
Exactly. We are here for her music... Not her life or her love life...
And it's the people trying to cancel her for this that would also argue that "Taylor can change"
Ya know?
Matty couldn't have possibly changed at all over time, to them.
It's just nuts how much people think they get to have a say in anyone's life. Let alone Taylor freaking Swift
@@kaceeharrison3715 i think its the general consensus that it takes more than 3 months for a person to change but idk maybe thats just me
@@Fucorii “i want to be defined by the things i love” -taylor swift, in her music

Agreed !!!!
Yes! Me too
Being a black 1975 fan who goes to to their concerts hearing someone say “as a POC I now feel unsafe going to see Taylor because he might be there” is so funny. I’m sorry
The misinformation about him running unchecked online is crazy.
It’s Americans that haven’t traveled trying to hold foreigners to a standard that doesn’t exist in their country
You're defending someone who gets off watching black women being brutalized.
I am a freelance journalist. This is stand up, independent research and journalism. Awesome job Lauren.
And IMO that’s a failure of parents!
They shouldn’t be letting every aspect of their child’s lives be directed by any celebrity!
She has asked fans many times not to call her ‘mom’.
Obviously, it’s disrespectful to fans real moms and families, not to mention creepy.
"Has nothing to do with Taylor's music. Nothing." - Me, watching this 5 days after TTPD came out: 👀
I have to chuckle.
He is a bit like a current day Jim Morrison.
Would you be defending Matty Healy if he wasn't dating Taylor Swift? Please be honest, Swifties.
This is a super thanks Lauren! Seriously you worked soo hard on this and I wanted to give you some love as a thanks. These videos are no joke and take so much work 😘😘
You might have gotten two from me cuz RUclips glitched 😂😂 enjoy! 😘
Thanks!
Omg not my own mother sending me a super thanks on my yt video 😭😭😂😂 hahaha THANKS MOM I LOVE YOU AND THE FANDOM LOVES YOU TOO!!
AND OF COURSE: I am not in charge of anyone’s opinions in my mind. I don’t love the things he’s said. This is just _my_ perspective.
If you sell your merch and try to cancel your favorite singer for someone else's actions then was you really a "fan"?...
no one is trying cancel anyone lmao its not wrong to call out someone u like she clearly has had no issues making statements before 🤷🏿♀️
Considering the horrifying things that happened in the Little Mix fandom and what a lot of them did to Jesy, I am not surprised by the toxicity.
@@westonding8953 it's sad, Swifties are better than that I'm a proud Swiftie but this whole situation or whatever it is is wild
The racism taken out of context?
@@BrookeDoesScience Exactly 💯
Thank you for being the voice of reason Lauren! Honestly, it’s horrifying what people say. This is a case of “guilty by association” and “slippery slope” demonization. I have seen similar things in other places and communities in society.
"Hate by association" I've been cancelled for calling this out from the Wokes since 2016!
If I was in a relationship for 6 years with a guy who hid me from the world I’d date a problematic unhinged rockstar.
HAHAHA RIGHT???!?! i'm hoping this is just a quick lil rebound 👀 but honestly i'm just here for the music
@@LaurenLipman I kind of want them to have children but I also wish the 1975 was a hardcore punk band
I might be wrong though.
this video is not what I expected at all! Thank you so much for doing this, it was so very necessary for so many people!
Thank you so much Lauren for you input on this situation, you are amazing and I’ve loved your content since you first put out your lwymmd music video reaction will forever continue to watch your videos, love you
Personally I hate this brand of "edgy" humor & don't associate with people like this. But I don't get to control where other people draw that line
It’s not even that edgy. I imagine you must be very boring.
Your sweater reflects the quality of this video. As for Taylor, it is time for the tabloids, the haters and the oh so self-righteous to stop putting her down.

Um, this isn't the serve you think it is:
Dylan O Brien received flack for his girlfriend.
So did Chris Evans, so did Harry Styles during the Olivia Wilde relationship.
It just wasn't as noticeable because Taylor is the most famous person on earth rn.

Hey Lauren thank you for speaking out and bringing forward all the research and information it was well done you always do your best to bring forward straight and honest content !
And then Tortured Poets Department comes out and we find out she was in love with Matty. Shocking!
As a fan of Taylor Swift and The 1975 I thank you for doing the research. So many people read a Buzzfeed article and think they have it all figured out. I'm fully behind the rumours that they are still together just laying low. Here's hoping
This was wildly well researched and greatly appreciated! Well done Lauren!!
finally someone on the other side of this that has actually taken the context into consideration!!
your perspective on this is so insightful, I just made a vid on my end going through a deep dive on this in the lens of someone who’s been a fan of the 1975 for a decade. Thankfully we’re all on the same page ❤
Just tweeted you hahaha glad we agree!!❤️

I did weeks of research. Thank you for doing the same. I can’t stress strongly enough that people need to stop getting their ‘news’ from social media.
Thanks so much for doing this Lauren! I am so looking forward to this!
Thank you so much for this video ❤️
An alternative headline could read, "Matty Healy gets real on fragile masculinity in new interview," and that headline would actually be less misleading and more factually accurate than, "Matty Healy says dating a STRONG WOMAN is EMASCULATING!" I welcome men openly discussing masculinity and its flaws in a self-aware manner.
Matty actually said that dating Swift would be "emasculating." Apparently he doesn't feel that way anymore but it is still on record.
So excited for this video! Thanks Lauren!
Thank you so much Suzanne!!! I really appreciate this comment today 🥰
YAYYYY LONG VIDEO!!! you should do this more often, the algorithm prefers em nowdays
Thank you for laboring with so much love for us over this, Lauren!! ❤
honestly he’s just a very chaotic and impulsive guy a lot of the time and he has absolutely said and done and agreed with some interesting crap that has gotten him in some trouble. but when you actually look at the majority of the things he speaks about and speaks up for i think it’s much clearer that he is not this completely bigoted awful person and actually has some decent morals to him. again absolutely not perfect and i’ve seen some of the terrible things he has said and done. but as with most things in the media it’s truly much more complex and nuanced than tabloids have time or money to get into and people make snap judgments on out of context things. this video was so well done and i commend you for taking such a neutral and factual approach to it! definitely one of the best summaries of the situation that provides context, resources, and gives room for voices that matter to speak on these issues. great job lauren!!
It's good to see some mature talk on this relationship instead of toxic comments everywhere and they call themselves swifties...
Taylor should hire you as her PR! You're awwwwweeeeesome! Such a perfect journalistic research. Subscribed.
Lauren, I am SUCH A FAN of yours. This video is so necessary. Thank you!
I'll suspect you'll get another uptick on this with the Matty tracks. Sending more people your way. Thanks again for this great video.
Thank you Lauren, you are always so thoughtful and considerate and provide a safe space for all people to feel validated in their feelings and I really appreciate that x
i wish i could love this post, you expressed exactly what i feel too. ty for the thoughtful comment.
THIS WAS SO GOOD LAUREN! Thanks for being brave and being a voice to speak for rational thought - there are tons of swifties who agree with you!
I don't buy the "happiest she's ever been" comment. I'm sure she's on an emotional rollercoaster- you can see she's happy on stage but also very emotional too
Yeah that’s kind of what happens when you’re performing songs that are very personal and about your life. Are you stupid?
Well people aren’t listening to what she is saying ! If they were really listening to her words they should be elated
I have never been happier in EVERY ASPECT of my life!
EVERY ASPECT!!!
5 minutes in and this is the realest video i have seen since this whole situation escalated.
thank you for saying that!!!! glad you're here 💜
I just spent the last week discovering this entire love story.
PERIOD
this aint it
No, you’re right @HEY Pictures (Legacy) you’re totally correct about this, in my opinion. It’s crazy how fast some people switched up on her.
@@jr0ckz89 white women are ridiculous at this point
Thank you for doing research & giving original source, documentation and references- that is very refreshing.
thank you for your research Lauren! good video 💜
amen. Thank you so much for this video & for doing allll this research of us. Everything you said is 💯 on point 👏👏👏
Thank you for making this video. It was needed. I think you made a lot of good points and am glad you added context to some of these narratives.
Thank you for the hard work 😊
You just earned yourself a subscriber. Why is it the “tolerant” are most void of grace.
It doesn’t matter how much he claims to support marginalized groups, not when his actions clearly suggest otherwise :/
I’m still a fan of The 1975 as a band, and I’m still a Swiftie.
I JUST found this… INSTANTLY subscribed. This is the content I LOVE! 10/10 recommend watching 😌
This topic keeps coming up again. I'm referring people to your video. It is legit a godsend. Can't thank you enough.
hi!!! that truly means so much to me - I appreciate you!!! I have no idea why this topic is even resurfacing...? she's clearly moved on haha
@LaurenLipman
Leaked images from fans who got accidental prints on vinyl lyrics showing that one of the 1989 vault tracks was allegedly to feature 1975. And that's bringing all this back to the surface.
@@MrJmdamian89 I thought that was proved false? The pictures with the ft the 1975? Is it true?👀 I’d love to see what you’re talking about!
@LaurenLipman I'm not sure if it's real. It just reignited a lot of the negativity from before. This video helped explain this situation to new swifties. 🙌🏻
You did an amazing job on this one Lauren. The set up is great! Well done!
you know, i wonder if these "fans" hold themselves responsible for everything that's ever been said & done by the people in their lives?
But Daddy, I love him:
I forget how the West was won
I forget if this was ever fun
I just learned these people only raise you
To cage you
Sarahs and Hannahs in their Sunday best
Clutchin' their pearls, sighing, "What a mess"
I just learned these people try and save you
'Cause they hate you
I'll tell you something right now
I'd rather burn my whole life down
Than listen to one more second of all this bitchin' and moanin'
I'll tell you something 'bout my good name
It's mine alone to disgrace
I don't cater to all these vipers dressed in empath's clothing
God save the most judgmental creeps
Who say they want what's best for me
Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see
Thinkin' it can change the beat
Of my heart when he touches me
And counteract the chemistry
And undo the destiny
You ain't gotta pray for me
Me and my wild boy and all of this wild joy
If all you want is gray for me
Then it's just white noise, and it's just my choice
I'll tell you something right now
You ain't gotta pray for me
Me and my wild boy and all of this wild joy
(He was chaos, he was revelry)
If all you want is gray for me
Then it's just white noise, and it's my choice
Thanks!
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN, thank you
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU!!!!!
This video explained everything to me I feel better thank you
Thank you, Lauren.
