The English translation of "Galette des Rois " is hilarious 🤣 King's Tart?
It looks so easy. But it isn't. I make one every year from scratch. No short cuts. The art in the pastry. Layers of pastry, butter, rolling, refrigeration and repeat. Then the temperature of the oven...This "haute cuisine ".

Just made those...I didn't have big sheets, so I did individual ones. They were delicious :) And yes, I DON'T care that I didn't wait until January 6th ;)

Best dessert you can ever have in your life, but to me incredibly hard to make "right", if you ever go to france during the season where pastry chefs make them, order one asap, its truly something to eat once in your life

The puff pastry is the most difficult part to make, the rest is easy. Please not that the real french "Galette des rois" (only available in January) is filled with frangipane only (almond cream), that's traditional and is by very far, my favourite ;) PS: though, the mix of pear/almond works very well, must be delicious too).

Hopefully, I will get my chance. I would love to be naked, while I eat it, too. Be ONE with nature.

Frangipane is not "also known as almond cream" they are two different things. Frangipane is a mixture of almond cream and pastry cream.

It's not "almond scented", there's a ton of almonds in it. The pears are not in the classic recipe.

+Scott Pegueros It's okay, really, provided you warned your guests to bite the pastry carefully, ideally with the front teeth.

Love Raymond Blanc. BBC is garbage, though. Censoring comments, too much. Going to slap a dislike on this video, just for that reason.
