Long story short, I was close to homelessness living in San Francisco, so I had to go home back to Texas. There was this job for set building and prop fabrication for a RUclips channel nearby called TBNR. I was slightly surprised because I thought, 'hmm, a company in a smaller town in Texas looking for set builds and fabrication? My speciality?! It's destiny!'. My ten year old nephew almost had a heart attack in delight when he heard my sister and I talking. Apparently TBNR is that RUclipsr Preston Playz. They were expanding their RUclips to a new channel dedicated to these "challenges" and needed a set builder and prop fabricator. So I said hell yeah, eight years in the military doing construction, school background in set design and prop making? I can totally do this. Anyway, I got brutally rejected, so it was NOT destiny 😂BUT I say all of this to say I had NO idea who Preston was, until my nephews told me to get a life, I live under a rock (apparently), and I should be ashamed for not knowing who he was 💀SO yes....I can definitely agree...9-15 year olds do in fact run the world concerning all that is deemed "popular".
There is absolutely a hunger for good stop motion animation, which means there is a market. Do your set building job to pay the bills and set up a stop motion studio at home and use RUclips to get it out there, they and get Corridor Crew to hype it. They talked about one only a few episodes ago a guy that does highend stylised stop motion from home.

I did notice that there has been a resurgence of stop motion over the past few years (a lot of it being in commercial and business which is awesome too). Aardman Studios is still pushing out their amazing work. That new Pokémon series from Netflix, etc. So that gives me a lot of hope!! I’ve never heard of Corridor Crew, but I’ll definitely research them now. You’re right about putting work out there. The set building jobs were slim here where I’m at, so I picked up waitressing to pay the bills and have decided to do just what you said, work on my own projects until an opportunity comes along. Animation and film can be a little tough to navigate, so I really appreciate the encouragement and suggestions!

I just finished school for stop motion animation, but surprise...no jobs in the industry for stopmo lol. Long story short, I was close to homelessness living in San Francisco, so I had to go home back to Texas. There was this job for set building and prop fabrication for a RUclips channel nearby called TBNR. I was slightly surprised because I thought, 'hmm, a company in a smaller town in Texas looking for set builds and fabrication? My speciality?! It's destiny!'. My ten year old nephew almost had a heart attack in delight when he heard my sister and I talking. Apparently TBNR is that RUclipsr Preston Playz.
They were expanding their RUclips to a new channel dedicated to these "challenges" and needed a set builder and prop fabricator. So I said hell yeah, eight years in the military doing construction, school background in set design and prop making? I can totally do this. Anyway, I got brutally rejected, so it was NOT destiny 😂BUT I say all of this to say I had NO idea who Preston was, until my nephews told me to get a life, I live under a rock (apparently), and I should be ashamed for not knowing who he was 💀SO yes....I can definitely agree...9-15 year olds do in fact run the world concerning all that is deemed "popular".
There is absolutely a hunger for good stop motion animation, which means there is a market. Do your set building job to pay the bills and set up a stop motion studio at home and use RUclips to get it out there, they and get Corridor Crew to hype it. They talked about one only a few episodes ago a guy that does highend stylised stop motion from home.
@@kingcosworth2643 Wow!!!! Thank you so much for this 😭 I placed so many applications for the few jobs that I did see involving stop mo set building and fabrication but I didn’t have too much luck. I did notice that there has been a resurgence of stop motion over the past few years (a lot of it being in commercial and business which is awesome too). Aardman Studios is still pushing out their amazing work. That new Pokémon series from Netflix, etc. So that gives me a lot of hope!!
I’ve never heard of Corridor Crew, but I’ll definitely research them now. You’re right about putting work out there. The set building jobs were slim here where I’m at, so I picked up waitressing to pay the bills and have decided to do just what you said, work on my own projects until an opportunity comes along. Animation and film can be a little tough to navigate, so I really appreciate the encouragement and suggestions!

I need to do better at that aspect of film and animation. It’s a field that’s definitely not for the faint of heart lol I picked up a job waitressing to make ends meet. It's a genuine tearjerker about everyone putting their differences aside and coming together during a time of war. A group of kind rich libertines provide a shelter where young, poor workers can come together, discover themselves and what life is all about. The food scene had everyone guffawing. Heart-warming cinema at its finest.
