That snowball effect is dangerous! My 89 mustang is sitting as a roller right now because I had that same mind set.
    Initial thought was:
I have to do my rear brakes, well I hate drum brakes so let’s swap over to a 94-04 mustang rear diff. Found a 99-04 diff.
    That snowballed into
    1) I just went from 4 lug to 5 lug so now I need wheels and tires for the rear.
    2) well a 4 lug front and a 5 lug rear is gonna look goofy so I’m just gonna do 99-04 knuckles and brakes to match.
    3) the rear end is 3” wider than the original and there for wider than the frint so I’m going to get the arms off a 99-04 so the front is wider too and therefore it matches.
    4) I’m already there, why not get a light cross member
    5) The car is originally a 4cyl car and the crossmember is out, why not swap to a 5.0.
    6) while I’m there I might aswell get a 99-04 rack and pinion since it allows for more angle
    7) steering shaft from a foxbody doesn’t match the SN95 rack input shaft so now I need the 94-04 rack coupler and modify a foxbody steering shaft to match it.
    8) I already have the car in the air and the engine is out, why not stitch weld the chassis.
    9) the car is in shambles, might aswell do a tubular front end.
    10) the front sheet metal is already off, why not convert to an 85/86 4eye front end?
    11) while the motor is out, let’s get some better heads, intake, and a cam in it.
Then I ran out of time, then I had a kid, then I had a second, then I bought a house, and now I’m finally gonna get back to it. And that’s not even talking about my civic lol that’s a whole other snowball story.
Now with my IS350, I made sure to buy it with the lights I wanted, and on coilovers so that all I have to do is wheels and tires, call it a day and make sure to ignore any inclination I have about more power or better handling. Lol

had them on my car for over two years now, same spring setup, and the car handles superb
once properly set up, you can adjust the car reaction with the shock knobs, pretty solid construction
The only downside is that the hardware to hold the front end (spindle and rca's) has surface rust like it wasn't anti rust treated

    • @pothead503
      @pothead503 3 года назад +2

I'll remember that and coat mine with anti-seize and some other products that will protect against rust.

To answer your question, I’m in Hong Kong. And it’s definitely a lot harder to work on your own car here in comparison to Japan and the US. Japan isn’t that bad. The biggest hurdle for most Japanese is having the space to do it. Apart from that, it’s part of Japanese culture to be hobbyists. They have auto supply stores just like the US does with autozone etc. In HK however, not only is space scarce and expensive, but our culture isn’t big into DIY. Most car owners would rather send their beloved cars to a speciality they trust. In my case, almost everything you see in this video is imported (including the tools!). The garage space isn’t even mine too. I only had a day to borrow it.

@@Progressionmotorsports Oh wow, so it's a challenge in Hong Kong for sure. I appreciate the video even more now considering the effort 😊 Beautiful Trueno you have and I am looking forward to the next video on how the car is after alignment and corner balance. Maybe one day I'll get to do some wrenching on an 86 in Japan....or even Hong Kong!
