Can't imagine anyone accusing you of not being open and honest with your criticism. Considering how much you love the brand, you're VERY transparent with your issues. I know I'm always really interested to hear your take on vehicles precisely because of that integrity. Great video, man. Still really eyeing one of these for Mrs. JAX. 🙂

Too pricey for a sequoia. Would rather get a Japanese assembled LX with all its advantages and better build quality. Not even a contest. Rather pay more and get a way better product. Always buy a Japanese assembled Toyota whenever possible imho.

At $80K, that Sequoia should be tight as a drum not loose headliner or fabric separating from the seatback or whatever. I really wanted to like the new Tundra and Sequoia but too many issues. The bigger problem, no V8! Toyota could've put a small naturally aspirated V8, NO TURBOS and improved fuel mileage. Thank you for the video, it just reinforces my decision to keep my paid off 2nd gen TRD Crewmax...

I test drive a platinum sequoia about 2 months ago and I can honestly say that I enjoyed the throttle response, the comfort of the seating, the thing that stood out to me the most was when I placed my IPhone in the charger and started to drive my IPhone would shift off of the charger and lose its charging capabilities when turning and I’d have to reshuffle it on the charger and that was a big annoyance.I own a 2021 Land Cruiser,2018 Trd Pro Tacoma and I don’t have that problem with the charger.Another thing is I’m still on the fence about the Hybrid system for that amount of money.I just not 💯% if I want another big vehicle in my fleet especially since my kids are grown up pretty much.Maybe I’ll wait a couple more years and add it then since my youngest is already 17 and learning to drive perhaps she’ll be gifted the Tacoma.(big maybe).

Falken wildpeaks are amazing tires. These are made specifically for Toyota oem vehicles. The normal Falken wildpeak ATs and MTs that anyone can buy online are way more aggressive and have a much deeper tread depth, actually the deepest tread depth out of any AT. Some peiple are judging wildpeaks based on these stock ones coming on the new tundras and sequoias but they aren’t the same. Not as good in every category. They are louder and not as good in the rain or snow or off road. I have wildpeaks on my 4runner and think they are better than ko2’s and terra grapplers in every condition and super quiet even with over 35,000 miles on them and haven’t had to balance them once yet.

Wind noise is a big part in evaluating a vehicle. I know this first hand. I worked at Ford Motor Company for 23 years. My plant assembled the F 150 F 250 and F350 my first 16 years. Then we only assembled F 150 Super and Reg cabs. I learned a lot about wind noise because it was on the huge quality board the hung in the plant as soon as you walk in . All 5 Ford truck plants had the ranking by day on quality. Also we could also see all other Truck competitors quality results. Those were not individual plants. Only as you would see it like in consumer reports. Now for inside information Toyota has all individual make and model trucks in their plants. I learned this in 2007 when my friend was interviewed for a Paint Department Manager. They actually could see for instance our plant production broken down into the 4 assembly areas in all truck plants. In his interview they showed him our daily production numbers from our Paint Department by the days. So he was questioned on a few particular days on why our numbers were down in production? This would fall on the Paint Department Manager ! This is a very big deal because from paint the box goes to the box line in Trim Department and the cab goes to Chassis Department and down the line to count our production numbers that drive off the line. I hope someone found this interesting? I would love to answer any questions that you may have? I worked 10 years in Chassis in the very start of assemble process . 4th job drivers side Rivet Gun stamping on cab bracket front and rear suspension brackets . Then I was brought to the P96 launch team for the F150 super and Reg Cab only now! We lost 250s and 350s to Kentucky Truck Plant. A complete redesign for 2007 ! Ford Motor Company took Truck of the year. Very proud that I was chosen to work with Designers and engineers. After 2 years of launching and getting production up to 58 trucks per hour they gave me options to work in a different department? So I absolutely did my body was done with Chassis line so I went to Paint Department worked 5 years then went to Paint Department Quality Control. My 1st day started at the beginning of assembly to the last job of assembly.

    • @robertwasinger8193

@@christophergodschalk3627 Paint quality is a big one! Squeaks and rattles. Yes there have been times shocks were not tightened down. All trucks go through a small rain storm for leaks. Quality and fit inside the cab called trim. You would think motors would be checked but they are not it’s amazing they start up on the first try after putting all together! paint quality would Intel the body shop also. Fit and finish meaning correct amount of space on both sides of the hood and doors. Any dings or dents would be charged to the body shop. Paint off color orange pill overspray wrong color lol is charge for the paint department in the spray booth. Inspecting the paint and polishing out dirt is charged to final paint shop. there are four areas in the paint shop that has a manager overseeing that department and is responsible for production and quality. And chassis department has five areas I never worked and trim that Hass to be 5 to 7 areas. Body shop I have no idea. That building Is not a building you walk in and think it’s great. All I see is danger with robots sparks flying high everywhere. I have some good friends that did work over there for years and I was taught a lot about door fit hood fit and what to look for. We were hired in the same class and then we were separated and only saw each other in the parking lot coming or going. We came great friends so we hung out on the weekends going jet skiing. I had to replace the OEM tires at 14,500 miles, Bridgestones that were worn slick. Have new tires (not Bridgestone). OEM tires are NOT part of warranty, however it took some doing but my dealer ate the new tires. The acceleration of the hybrid is unreal and there’s not lag between batt/motor. This redesign is for the year 2016…
The competition is way ahead still…. Space wise, cargo wise, driving wise, mpg wise price wise it’s a fail
How do you build such a enormous vehicle like this and have less space??
Why did put twin turbos on a v6 for fuel efficiency to get 15 mpg same as old bullet proof v8
Why you can’t fit a normal size adult in the 3rd row ?
Why is cargo space small and weird?
Why ride quality is harsh ??
    Why is seat so uncomfortable??
    It’s a fail
The Atlas, Pilot, telluride, Lexus gx, 4Runner, Tahoe are way ahead this vehicle

In your opinion would my wife who is accustomed to a 2016 land cruiser (main SUV) and her 2014 Lexus ls460 would she like the sequoia quality wise. She loves the GX and the LX (2016-21) but not sure if the build quality would be offsetting for her (didn't like many other SUVs she's driven).

HEY GUYS FROM TOYOTA, I'M HAVE SEEN THE SNEAK PEAK OF THE ALL NEW 2023 TOYOTA TUNDRA TRAIL HUNTER, SO IS IT POSSIBLE THAT TOYOTA CAN BUILT A PACKAGE FOR THE 2023 TOYOTA SEQUOIA TRAIL HUNTER, PROBABLY FOR THE SAME PRICE, OR THAT FOR $10,000 DOLLARS MORE LIKE THE PRICE RANGE $90,000 DOLLARS, BECAUSE TOYOTA CAN COMPETE WITH THE 2023 GMC YUKON DENALI AT4 EXTREME OFFROAD, THE PRICE FOR THAT SUV IS $90,000 DOLLARS, BUT THEY ARE SELLING IT FOR $70,000 DOLLARS, SO I WOULD RECOMMEND TOYOTA SHOULD BUILT AND PACKAGE THE 2023 TOYOTA SEQUOIA IN TRAIL HUNTER, THAT WOULD BE A TREMENDOUS RACE OR COMPTITION AND RUN FOR IT'S MONEY, NOW IF WAS ME I WOULD PUT THE PACKAGE IN TRAIL HUNTER TO THE TOYOTA SEQUOIA, I IMAGINE THAT THE TOYOTA SEQUOIA TRD PRO SPORT HYBRID IT'S REALLY REALLY EXECLLENT ESPECIALLY FOR IT'S PRICE, SO TOYOTA THINK ABOUT IT, THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX WHEN YOU DECIDE

Got my Platinum last Friday! Picked it up at a dealer 1 1/2 hr away. Was a little overwhelmed with the hood height at first but had heard about it through reviews. Absolutely fell in love with the drive over the hour and a half. I will have to say that the changeover to car play with the apps is hard to get used to compared to my 2014 1794 Tundra. The favorites list access and scrolling on the 1794 vs having to run your finger over the screen is a little distracting. Also, you have to hold the scroll button down on the steering wheel until it beeps, which is about 1/2 sec, to change the channel (or app per se) If you don't wait and just toggle it changes the mode to another operation like FM to satellite. which is odd since there is a mode button right next to it. I'd like to know the engineers thinking on that. I think I have like 40 presets on the 1794. Now, I have not spent a lot of time learning how to set up my favorites so far as I have been busy this week. We drove it to dinner twice over the weekend to spots over 30 min away and loved the ride. My wife's 2022 X5 hybrid was sad as we passed it up in the garage. :)
Anyone with suggestions on the media please advise. Hoping I learn some things this week to open up the functionality.

Gotta be honest, Toyota is bugging me lately with their cheapness. I’ve owned exactly 50 vehicles, most of them purchased new. Currently 4/6 of my vehicles are Toyotas. I love Toyota, but… In terms of new car issues and complaints, Toyota has really lost some steps. In My current fleet - 2020 Ford F250 diesel/platinum/tremor has been flawless after 3 years and a ton of abuse towing and off road. Same with the recent JL Jeep Wranglers including our 392. My wife’s new Sienna on the other hand, our new Prius and new Camry have all had some glitches with the tech, power doors, some rattle issues, etc. From a durability standpoint I do still expect the Toyotas to be the best in the long run.
