Special thanks to our Patreons for their support of the channel! Sequoia or Tahoe?
Why is dude with sunglasses so femm?
No heated/ventilated 2nd row seats on a +80k vehicle is crazy. Too many compromises on cargo space as well. I'd go for a top trim Grand Highlander or Lux. trim TX/GX over this any day.
agree
Fuel economy on my 23 TRD Pro in perfect late winter FL weather was 17mpg. This review matches my experience. I have no clue who this vehicle is targeted at and I seriously doubt resale will be good because the QC is just awful. Volume knobs falling out, rattles, etc.
Keep it up! You guys are hilarious!
thanks for the love!
It's odd to say, but my 20+ year old 1st gen Sequoia seems superior to this new rig. Real V8 sounds, same fuel economy, bulletproof reliability (mine has already gone 360k miles), better seat/cargo gymnastics, better outward visibility, 1000 lbs lighter, parking lot-friendly dimensions, and dog favorite-roll down rear window. Had mine for 7 years now. 1/10th the $.
2025 Lexus GX550 is superior to this for similar money. You just don't get a third row seating but towing is about the same and it's a legit off-road with full-time 4WD.
Good luck getting one by 2026
Sequoia is a much larger vehicle with longer wheelbase and way better for towing
Agreed.
Rear cargo floor is the deal breaker.
Technically u want headroom in the 2nd row, u can get an inch more with the standard size sunroof although u might scrape your hair. Also, less ground clearance to the predecessor and no tow hooks is a huge oversight
Here's another Pro.
Resale value are very high. They still go for over MSRP new and used which is crazy.
Was. In 2023, dealers were marking up $20K but now nothing. I argue Toyota has some turds have that terrible resale… their hydrogen fuel cell cars basically depreciate 60% the second you drive off the lot. Their EVs too.
We are looking for a 3 with great range/fuel economy, CX90 hybrid is high on list, I do like the style of this
Or the grand Highlander
@@dnice362 grand highlander hybrid is excellent-we have a video on that one too
The entire back of the Sequoia is compromised because of the batteries., which I get. If they would have just eliminated the full size spare and just give you one. That if need arises you put on the top of the vehicle and take it with you. They could have put the batteries where the spare was and had a competitive back end of the vehicle. I've went 5 years without getting a flat. It's just an overblown concern and a functional backend would be 10x more practical on a daily basis.
Or mount the spare on the back door like a Jeep or even better option offer it without a 3rd row. Not too many ppl are going off road with people in the third row. it’s better used for gear.
What sunglasses do you have. They look really cool!!!
Blenders 😎
plus ... one of the few with a solid rear axel , like the grille and shorter wheel base over the tundra ..things I dont like that ,you have to have 2nd row capts chairs , you must have a sunroof, 22:00 fold down 2nd row and 3rd row big holes no space to car camp is why I would want one , not buy a 3 row luxury family school bus , price $83k + mark up ,for the money one can save $15,000 and buy the GX550 over trail and have a better rig and wait a few yrs to get one I have never seen a new sequoia TRD PRO in the desert or in camp grounds
The lack of awareness is stunning in this country. They can’t sell V8s, there are government rules that is making that increasingly difficult for automakers. We no longer decide what we want to buy, the government decides what we will buy now. The number of people I see blaming the automakers for this is fascinating.
You seemed very positive about the cargo area and flexibility of the shelf, etc, on your first Sequoia video. What changed?
Spent more time with it and tried using it for a more diverse set of situations
I tryna decide between the sequoia and tundra trd pro or the ford raptor
Raptor
I want to love the Sequoia because it looks so good, but the lack of cargo space, the twin turbo, and the hybrid system are all turnoffs.
The interior space is a real hard pill to swallow
Do you get the $7500 off from hybrid incentive?
No that’s just EV
Toyota missed the mark on this one. Not sure why 3rd row is not an option because i can see myself doing a 3rd row delete and the rear window doesn't roll down makes me not choose it due to having my pup. All in all i really wanted the updated version but with the mpg with battery, no roll down rear window, less cargo space, i just cannot justify it.
sound like a 4runner man! or Rivian R2 (whenever that comes out)
@@dwnshftAgreed! You know it. They should have considered in the landcruiser. Not sure where landcruiser sits given 4Runner will be so similar in features
You’re right. The ATW3’s on TRD Pro are not what you get off market - and they SUCK. At 15k I have 5mm of tread left and they are wearing on outer edges as though out of alignment. Toyota says “talk to Falcon, we don’t do tires”. Falcon says “Talk to Toyota, the alignment spec is off and the tires are fine”. 22 TRD Pro.
Although it’s clearly too expensive, you can’t compare the pricing with other brands. The Big3 all lose half their value as soon as you buy them and none have the allure of TRD Pro.
My MPG doesn’t exceed 15 in the city and 19 HWY.
This one can last long!
I ordered a TRD Pro, and while waiting, I finally got to test drive one. I nearly cancelled my order, and will if that god awful fake engine exhaust noise is not fixed. I see some here on youtube, suggesting there is a way to shut it off. Can you guys confirm this info???? My truck is to arrive any day now.
I’ve spent a bunch of time in this and the tundra and can’t figure out how to kill the noise
@@dwnshft From what I understand, you need to take it to a dealer to deactivate the enhanced noise coming thro the speakers: ruclips.net/video/k79cQeBvRf0/видео.html
Ugh. That 3rd row mess just took this off my list for a new car.
mhmmmm
The 3rd row can come out. After living with my 24 TRD Pro for 3 months and 6k miles I like it. a lot. The cargo area has been a non-issue after two long trips with the four of us. I came from a 22 AT4 Yukon XL and the wife has a 2018 Land Cruiser. My pros are that it is fast, comfortable, and sticks to wet, ice, and snow conditions in 2H due to the weight., and comfortable to drive. I have not experienced the throttle lag you did. Put it in Sport mode and it is a rocket. THe TRD roof rack is LOUD. I have only woed my boat once so far with it, and it was a mixed bag. All the back-up and safety sensors made backing up the boat trailer a PITA. I did not have time to read the owners manual and learn how to turn everything off. I have a down payment on a new GX 550, but think I am going to keep this Sequoia. Might put a 2" lift on it.
How much?
83k
@@dwnshft haha
What was Toyota thinking?
I am considering the Sequoia vs the Pilot, leaning toward the Pilot trzacksport
The Sequoia will be better off-road and at towing - the Honda will be better pretty much everywhere else
it´s not bad.
it's not a bad vehicle, no! There are just some inefficiencies with space and cabin design
@@dwnshft not the first Toyota / Lexus who has that problem and not the last I think.
Way too many cons for such an expensive vehicle
First 👀
big love
Hey toyota! Heres an solution... make a non hybrid seqouia............
lol that's what we said! agree
First gen Sequoia is better
