Hi Beth and thanks a lot for this from the incomparable Kate Bush. She called this one her getting drunk songs from this album. because she talked about getting drunk in order to do the freestyle ad libs at the end (the other was the wonderful 'Waking the Witch.' Now if you were to do an analysis of 'Hello Earth' from this album you would be giving a gift to the world - for her performance on that song is just spellbinding.
    Thanks again for this.

Great memories - you can see me at the front of the “stage” towards the end. The music was pumping while this was being recorded - took you over completely. Kate gave us all “Big Sky” branded lighters (mine still works) to wave at one point. Trouble is they quickly got red hot. Became a test of loyalty how long you could keep your lighter lit for. This was on the second day of recording for the video - won’t ever forget it. Kate over indulged slightly and needed some time out while this was being recorded,

Kate almost always did her own background vocals. At least until she used the Trio Bulgarka on her Sensual World album. I like it when she uses 4 or 5 different voices within one song, such as Suspended In Gaffa. Can't go wrong with Kate. By the way, have you reacted to Peter Gabriel and her duet music video for Don't Give Up?

@@mysticmerman I would say The Dreaming is her most creative album, Kate at her most adventurous and free. But not necessarily the best place for a Kate newbie to begin. It's more of a master class in Kate Bush.

Back in the eighties and nineties Kate was in a league of her own. From 'Song of Solomon' she sings 'Dont want your bullshit. Just want your sexuality. Write me your poetry in motion'. And in the Sensual World when she paraphrases Molly Blooms soliloquay from James Joyces Ulysses 'And then I took a kiss of seedcake back from your mouth. Going deep south going down. With six big wheels we'll roll our bodies out off Howth Head and into the flesh. You said I was a flower of the mountains. Yes. But now I have the power of a womans body. She really was way ahead of the curve.

The Fairlight synth was named after a hydrofoil ferry in Sydney that the maker used to see out of his window. The ferry was probably named after the Fairlight homestead in Sydney, which in turn was probably named after Fairlight, a village in East Sussex, UK.
The software piracy group Fairlight got its name from the synth... or a C64 game which got its name from the village...

Please can I also put a recommendation in for you to look at some of Laura Marling's material. Perhaps the official video for "All My Rage" might be a good place to start. I honestly believe Laura to be the best female singer and songwriter to have come out of the UK since Kate Bush.

Somewhere I thought I read that she used her sampling board to sample her own voice and add it in so that she could be her own backing vocalist... I may have that mixed up with someone else, but I frequently hear backing vocals in Kate Bush's songs that sound like her herself... Might have imagined that or it might be someone else completely....

Some time it can be just over load and busy. I didn't know how involved she was in the technology her self, amazing. Good recording equipment used to only the in the hands of a few major labels but now many more people have access to it. Another great reaction, thanks.

I saw the younger Diana Ankudinova perform.
Painting 🖌️🎨 with sound ... an excellent description of kates work then theres the whole theatrical dance aspect to her work.
A uniquely creative artist... yet she was almost lost to the newer generations using her pioneering techniques. Untill they used one of her early hits in a cult TV show.... bang shes back with a new audiences and old fans..
