  • Here's a clip of our engineer, George, showing you how to carry out your weekly fire alarm test on a Kentec fire alarm detection system.
You can find out more about weekly testing, how to do it and why it's important in our article 'Top 5 Dos & Don'ts When Carrying Out Your Weekly Fire Alarm Test': www.w-fp.co.uk...
Your weekly testing of your fire alarm is incredibly important to help you identify faults with your life safety system. You should always check a different call point each week to make sure that each one sets off the alarm as it should. E.g. if you had 52 call points in your building, in a year you'd have tested each one and at the start of year 2 you'll start the rotation again.
All results must be recorded in your fire alarm log book, which is evidence of you carrying out your due diligence within your commercial premises.
Weekly fire alarm testing is not to be confused with fire alarm maintenance; weekly testing is to be carried out by you, the user and 'Responsible Person' for your building, but your maintenance or service (which usually takes place every six months depending on your Fire Risk Assessment) is to be carried out by a specialist to test all devices, including your detectors and not just your call points.

Thank you for your comment! Yes this is a 901 key, although we have come across some older panels using an 801 key!

Hi MS Security, the system is running Apollo XP95 protocol. Discovery can be mixed with XP95 on the same loop and has additional functionality which comes at a small premium. Most clients don’t need the additional functionality therefore standard XP95 is installed on the vast majority of our installations. Apollo have a newer protocol called CORE which allows many more devices per loop and again comes with a wider array of functions, however it to comes at a premium and is not widely supported or promoted by panel manufacturers at the time of writing.

That’s unusual Kamel, it could be a number of things. 1 - the class change terminals are being triggered for some reason by an external input. 2 - there could be an internal fault. 3 - a user could be resetting a ‘fire’ signal that needs to investigated to allow resetting to take place. My advice would be to contact your a service organisation and have this investigated asap. If you need us then please call and if we cover your location we could arrange for a call out to investigate. Call us on 01277 622932 during the week days 08:00-17:00 GMT.
