What Do the 'L' Types Mean in a Fire Alarm System Design? M, P, L1, L2, L3, L4 & L5 Explained 🔥

WFP's Founder and fire alarm specialist, Paul, is here with a new version of this video to help YOU understand the different levels of fire detection for your commercial fire alarm system.
The levels include: M, P, L1, L2, L3, L4 & L5, and all pertain to the amount of fire detection used in a fire alarm design, and where it's placed.
This variation depends on the perceived risk in your building; for example, you'll most likely see an L1 system in a hospital, whilst in your normal office building you might see an L4 or L3, depending on the room layouts, size, occupancy and posed risks.

The perceived risk and the level of detection allocated to a building is usually provided by your Fire Risk Assessor in a Fire Risk Assessment, which is a periodical requirement for all responsible persons to have carried out in their buildings.
