Another great video, Joe. Although battery-powered detectors are permitted in Scotland, I'm fairly sure that the only designs that comply with Scottish Building Standards are those that use an integral battery (usually lithium based with a 10-year life) - i.e. a battery that _cannot_ be changed. This stipulation was based on research that found lots of residents just didn't replace the 9V battery in their detectors when it ran out. Do the BG devices in the video have integral batteries? Also, in Scotland the detectors must be interlinked, which can be wired or wireless. Not sure what E&W Building Regs say.
