@@nicksaysboo17You have to react to " Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" its a horror classic. Its the most shadest horror movie i EVER seen. It gives Housewives meets Golden Girls vibes. Stuck living together in a mansion in old Hollywood, Blanche plots to get even with Jane for the car crash that left her crippled years earlier. But Jane is desperate to keep Blanche imprisoned as she plans a new rise to fame, and tries to hide Blanche's existence from doctors, visitors and neighbors while she devises a way to get rid of her sister. In the Bible, Daniel was a youth taken into Babylon, and became an advisor to the king. He interpreted dreams correctly, which won him favor with the king. The other advisors weren’t happy, and some of them schemed to have him sentenced to death by lions. Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, but was unharmed because God protected him. The king had a change of heart, had Daniel removed, and instructed his guards to throw the schemers in. They weren’t as lucky. Honestly, Shadrach, Meshach, or Abednego would have been better choices for him to call out. They had the fire experience; not Daniel. Sgt. Howie only invoked lion protection. 🤦🏻
And his wife, Michele Dotrice, starred in another classic folk horror film, "The Blood On Satan's Claw". That would be another great movie for Nick to watch.
The absolute epitome of folk horror. The scariest thing about this film is how easily something like this could happen (and probably has happened) in real life. I absolutely love the music at the beginning. Folk music is the best.
The reference to Daniel in the end is FASCINATING, especially as someone who didn't grow up religious and took some fairly neutral perspective Theistic studies classes in school. It's most likely a reference to the Bible story of The Fiery Furnace (where three of Daniel's disciples are thrown into a furnace 7 times hotter than normal fire because they refuse to worship the current king's false idols, and all of them emerge from the furnace unburnt), but I also find it possible that Howie is seeing himself as Daniel in the Lion's Den. In that context it would be that Howie's saying that he's prayed every day of his life and it hasn't saved him, he's been delivered to the lion's den anyways. And the truth is is that he isn't Daniel, no angel of God arrives to close the jaws of the hungry lions and save him. In the same vein, I love the detail that in the end Howie prays to not be delivered "into the hands of the enemy" aka Sommerisle's Pagan gods, but in that prayer admits the fallibility of his faith in that he believes they could exist (aka false idols), and that's "why" he was lost.
@@nicksaysboo17 Totally! I mostly find it cool in the context of the film, whereas something like Midsommer is basically absent of Christianity to contrast the Paganism because that's not the point of the underlying story, whereas this story is all about Howie's struggle with (and clinging to) his faith in the face of experiencing a different culture when the opposite (aka falling to temptation) could've saved his life. I imagine it was a much more controversial message to send in a film in the 70s😅
Not finished with the video yet, but this is the theatrical cut rather than the final cut (the superior version in line with the director's vision). The extended version explains how Sgt. Howie heard about Rowan. A letter was sent to him.

Nicolas Cage is the only reason to watch the remake. It takes the concept and removes all the sense, subtly and eeriness and replaces them with Cage freakouts, stupid moments, and lots of Misogyny (the director/writer has a lot of women issues). It also gives us one of the most famous internet memes if you watch the unrated version.
IIRC the director of this movie even said in an interview that he didn't go into it expecting to direct a musical, but that's what he did. The Wicker Man is one of my favorite horror films, but with as self-righteous as Sergeant Howie was, I tend to find myself rooting for the pagans on the island. ;)

Don’t worry I was a bit confused too I didn’t expect a lot of singing when I first watched The Wicker Man but guess it made sense given this was creepy some cult lol. Creepy singing just creeps me out especially if it’s children singing too HELL NO! I kept yelling at the screen for the cop to call for backup like?? 😂🫠
Channel names are weird. I have NO IDEA where Randomology came from (that was the original name before I had to re-submit because someone took it after my website copyright lapsed) but I do remember that I used to have a video series called "Divine by Zero" where I just talked about two or three trending topics. That name came from a conversation I had with a friend where he tried to say "divide by zero" but flubbed it. I just thought "Divine by Zero" sounded interesting.
I first saw this movie when I was like 14 and still catholic so i was GAGGED by the lordly christian lead not just losing but being beaten so hard he was burned alive as a human sacrifice, and it's been so awesome having this movie become one of my favorites ever and watching it hundreds of times and completely flipping. now I like the movie because of the pagans, and also because there's so much going on thematically. Lord Summerisle's grandfather cynically exploited the inhabitants of the island and used their old religion to control them and simultaneously liberate them from the new oppression of christianity. as pompous and wrong as he is for most of the movie, I think Howie's desperate prediction about what will happen to the living Summerisle next year if the crops fail again is 100% correct.
We need a group collab with you two, David and Chuu next 🤭

It takes the concept and removes all the sense, subtly and eeriness and replaces them with Cage freakouts, stupid moments, and lots of Misogyny (the director/writer has a lot of women issues). It also gives us one of the most famous internet memes if you watch the unrated version.
IIRC the director of this movie even said in an interview that he didn't go into it expecting to direct a musical, but that's what he did. The Wicker Man is one of my favorite horror films, but with as self-righteous as Sergeant Howie was, I tend to find myself rooting for the pagans on the island. ;)
My story 'Revert' on 'the dusty tome' is a tribute to this. Kind of. Domino Bathmat. 😊
There's actually a movie about the invention of the vibrator starring Hugh Dancy (in case you're interested).
Oh I hope there are reactions to the remake. It would be hilarious. The original isn't for me but I had to watch the remake when it came out. And oof I was dying
This original is so freaking freaky lol. Man this movie falls right in place with Alice Sweet Alice, Don't Look Now and The Sentinel. Seen one of Jaymeetsworld reaction and she ain't with crawling lol. Hope you guys saw the new Terrifier 3 official trailer
I want to see Alice Sweet Alice and Don’t Look Now so so so bad!
PLEASE do a video of the remake! PLEASE!!
We have been fed with this collab! 😂🫠
I’d love to know what the actual percentage of this movie was that was just people singing 😂
@@nicksaysboo17 I’d like to know that info too😂😂
ICONIC COLLAB!!!✨✨🤗 My 2 favs!!!!! ❤❤❤
Look, I'm not a supporter of human sacrifices. That being said, other than the human sacrifices...their community looks like a good time to me :D
Live your best life!
Like….how long was that girl waiting in the closet or whatever to fall out and scare him? Haha
Jay!! I'll watch every collab you're in ❤ and if it is with Nick the better.
Im surprised you didn’t mentioned that Iron Maiden has a song called the wicker man given you are using a Maiden shirt!
FYI, the Nicholas Cage remake is almost amusingly terrible. 🤣- EDIT: I see you've heard already!
The actor that played the landlord, Lindsay Kemp was gay irl and rumored to have been with David Bowie apparently lol
Good for him! 👏
The dark side of paganism 😅
Fertility rites gone wild 😳
Wicker Man is some bananas rural madness
But at least this version has no 🐻🤜🤕
Bear punching??
Great collaboration! Great editing! Not a great movie (for me at least 🤷♀)- always here to support Nick.
Appreciate you! 💛
