    You are a ROCK STAR for doing all this on your own! Good thing that chimney demo was easy... it was totally disintegrating!! I’m glad you removed it before it fell apart and endangered someone below 😉

    Doing my house up 17C farm house needed to do work on the chimney on the left side of the house removed one brick and centuries of heat had turned the motar to dust and the entire chimney was in my living room. Cost quadrupled but did discover the original stone fire surround which was 6 ft high by 6 ft wide on looks gorgeous. Funny how great things can come out of bad situations.

      Wow! That's an incredible story, and it really is cool how the best things come from the worst situations/experiences.

      Yes, as long as nobody gets crushed under a ton of bricks! Glad you found the cool old fireplace buried beneath! And survived 😉

      You did better than people I heard of who were renovating a cottage in Wales.
      They pulled out the nasty Edwardian fireplace just to find an equally nasty Victorian one behind it.

    A Cherry Picker is great if one has the space and access for one, if not a Scaffold is the only safe option, just ensure the erectors don't damage ones roof tiles as won't be discovered until the next storm and one discovers a leak from cracked tiles.

      V good advice. This cherry picker was certainly quite handy for this job - it would have been much scarier/taken much longer without it, for sure.

    Really enjoying the series Matthew ... also I love the phrase "full brick condition" ... hoping it becomes part of humanities everyday language (somehow?!?!)

      Full brick condition (fbc for short) will be the new "bees knees.". Just someone or something that is awesome.
      I'm glad you are enjoying the series and still watching! Thanks for the comment.

      Arnold Schwarzenegger was in full brick condition back in the 90s ...

    How long did it take to get used to the stilts?

    • @SchaeferFamilyAdventure
      @SchaeferFamilyAdventure  3 года назад +3

      I've used them before actually, but they are pretty stable and have springs do they operate (kind of) like normal legs. It took me a couple of minutes to get used to them again
