  • The 965km Guayaquil & Quito Railway in Ecuador runs from the town of Guayaquil (Duran) at sea level, into the Andean foothills, across the Devils Nose zig-zag and a summit at Urbina (3616m) to Quito, 2850m above sea level. After years of neglect the line was re-opened in 2013. At the time of my visit steam traction had returned to some sections but the remainder used diesel locomotives. Currently the line is only used by tourist trains with no regular passenger of freight services.

    Porque no gravas un video que se trata de la locomotora 14 no la 11

      Loco No.14 fue cocido al vapor en el depósito para que pudiéramos filmarlo en acción. El número 11 se utilizó en nuestro tren chárter. Nuestro tren solo requirió una locomotora, el personal del ferrocarril eligió el número 11. No pude filmar el número 14 en la línea.
      Loco No.14 was just steamed in the depot so we could film it in action. No.11 was used on our charter train. Our train only required one loco, the railway staff chose No.11. I was unable to film No.14 on the line.

    This is ridiculous....this locomotive is heavilly priming (incompressible water cary-over to the cylinders which clearlearly has broken an exhaust valve ring from the sound od it. ) and the cause is a stupid driver refusing to blow down excess boiler water before opening thr regulator. The poor locomotive must have lost at least half a boiler of water there and all the oill removed from the cylinders for the next half an hour of opperation. This is painfull to watch1
