- This video is aimed at rail enthusiasts and shows railway aspects of the 4 day, 3 night Tren Crucero (train cruise) from Quito to Guayaquil, Ecuador. The journey was one of the best travel experiences we have ever had. The train is brand new. The coaches are very comfortable, the service impeccable, the routing is through amazing vistas, viewing Ecuador's volcanoes, beautiful small towns, children waving excitedly as you go by, hard working people in traditional dress tending the fields, dogs racing after the train, cows, pigs,and llamas grazing near the tracks. All are things you do not see on the regular tourist trail. You do not sleep on the train but in lovely haciendas, each different and offering quaint rooms with baths and good food. Lunch is at other haciendas or catered by the villages and places that you pass. All food and most drinks are included in the price. The tour guides were knowledgeable about the train, people, and countryside. They were friendly, personable, switching from Spanish to English easily, and helpful. At two places the diesel locomotives are switched for different restored steam locomotives, which makes the whole train cruise even more special. It's nice to see 2-6-0 Mogul #11 is still up and running and looking better then ever. She appears in the episode "The Good And The Quick" from the Great Little Railways series of 1983.

That was a cool video. I tried to give it a thumbs up but it wont work for some reason.
I wish they'd have something like this here in the United States. A luxury train with modern amenities that's pulled by a steam locomotive (a streamliner like the Daylights, J-Class, Hiawatha, Crusader, or PRR K4 would be fitting)
There are plenty of train rides in the US. Just look for narrow gauge trains rides on the internet . The cumbres and toltec and the Silverton trains in Colorado.
joe Most of those are short excursions and have little in the way of service (for understandable reasons).
I was talking more about mainline passenger service like Iowa Pacific having their trains hauled by steam locomotives for part of the route to encourage bookings (ex. renting out N&W 611 and having it haul part of a New Orleans-New York service like it actually did back in the 1950s).

The railway crossing signals in Ecuadorian railways are always inactive. Not even with the led flashing lights and Western Cullen Hayes electronic bells, they would still fail to activate. Why is that? Can't the signal maintainers do something to make these signals activate for any oncoming trains?

deberian hacer un tren para el pueblo como antes ahora solo pueden viajar los que tienen plata o turistas y los que estabamos antes que viajabamos a visitar a nuestras familias en tren ahora solo los turistas y el que tiene plata viaja deberia haber una locomotora como antes para el pueblo con precios economicos mis hijos disfrutarian del viaje y deberian arreglar la estacion del recinto la primavera esta abandonada
Sin duda, se podría rehabilitar los autoferros con turnos, regularizando las frecuencias y estas serían cortas porque entre poblaciones se podría incrementar turismo fácilmente. Mover las maquinas con vagones, se va más personal y el costo es mayor.
zully nathaly guerrero jimenez este es un transporte antiguo y se dejó de usar como transporte interprovincial porque requiere mucha infraestructura, es por eso que fue sustituido por otros medios de transporte como; aviones o autobuses que son más eficientes. Este es un proyecto turístico y es costoso debido a que se necesita mucho dinero para poder mantener toda la infraestructura que un tren requiere. Me agrada mucho el tren, pero mejor que se quede como proyecto turístico, porque una locomotora como transporte interprovincial sería algo muy estupido debido a que ahora existen transportes mucho más eficientes que este, pero es un buen proyecto. Bueno a trabajar para poder darse un lujo como este, que a mi parecer el precio es muy razonable.
Alfaro construyó el Tren para el Pueblo y Correa lo utilizó para lucrarse y para transportar a unos cuantos turistas extranjeros ricos , inalcanzable para el Pueblo Ecuatoriano para el cual lo construyó Eloy Alfaro....que hpta !!!!

Por favor realicen un crucero mas economico, mas para nosotros los ecuatorianos, ?como quieren q conozcamos lo nuestro ? esto es para los extranjeros. !que pena !
No quiero sonar pretenciosos, pero el precio es totalmente razonable para lo que ofrece. En Europa existan algunas compañías de tren exclusivas para turistas con locomotoras de antaño y sus precios son mucho más costosos que aquí, ¿porque en Ecuador debería ser diferente?, es decir yo como Ecuatoriano creo que deberíamos apreciar un poco el trabajo que requiere un proyecto como este.
Y como cuánto cuesta?
Asi es...Alfaro construyó el Tren para el Pueblo y Correa lo utilizó para lucrarse y para transportar a unos cuantos turistas extranjeros ricos , inalcanzable para el Pueblo Ecuatoriano para el cual lo construyó Eloy Alfaro....que hpta !!!!
