  • If you have an oil leak coming from the middle of your 84-95 Toyota 4x4, this is likely the culprit. In my case, the seal was fine, but the nut had backed off and was loose. I was lucky enough to catch this before anything catastrophic happened and replaced the seal anyway. In this video I show you step by step how to replace the seal. My total time was 45 minutes.
    Parts needed:
    90311-38140
    Tools needed:
    Hammer
    2 14mm wrenches
    chisel or punch to crimp nut
    30mm or 1 3/16th
    rubber gloves
    wire brush
    wd40

    Hey man! Appreciate the video. I see a part number for the seal in your description. Is it a Toyota part number?

    Thanks for a great, short and succint video.
    What's the white paste you put on the threads? Some sort of anti-sieze?

    • @kelvinb
      @kelvinb  2 года назад +1

      that is RTV. it is suggested for use on the input shaft and threads.

      Hmm. To keep fluid from creeping through the threads?

    newbie question: what do you mean by set for 12 hours? Is this just letting the truck sit for 12 hours and watching for leaks? Is that standard and in the repair manual? Thanks!

    • @kelvinb
      @kelvinb  Год назад +1

      Yes I just let it sit. I did not use the manual for this project. I figured 12 hours would be long enough.

      At the 3:45 mark, it mentions the specific torque rating.
