C emarry A microchip is a small device that vets will put into dogs and cats, so if they get lost and taken to a shelter or veterinarian clinic, it’s very easy to find the owners. And unlike a collar, which can fall off or choke the animal, the microchip is harmless and will always be inside the animal.
@C emarry to expand on what Jewels thecat said, the chip is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted just under the skin of the dog/cat, usually on the back between the shoulders
I was already crying with the whole firefighters, and everyone thanking each other bit. But then when they scanned that chip, I was like "Oh great. Bet you anything the owners are not going to want her back and will probably surrender her to the rescue like the others in Eldad's video, especially since her leg is broken." But the moment they said *"her name is Tinkerbell"* I automatically knew I was wrong, that who ever gave her that name would be back for her. Sometimes names just carry a person's love. You can just tell that that dog was loved by her name alone. I'm so happy to see that the _entire_ family came back just to pick her up. It was a great moment. Every country should make it mandatory to chip your dogs. If Tink's family hadn't chipped her they would have never found her again.
***** You can get them chipped at a shelter or a vet. As for price, I'm from Toronto and if you go to the vet, they'll chip your dog for 50 bucks. If you go to a shelter, they'll chip your dog for 15 bucks. So if price is an issue, the shelter might be a better option for you. You can go get them chipped at either of those places though.
It broke my heart when she looked at him and then let him pet her. Sometimes it takes awhile for dogs to trust again but you can tell that she just really wanted someone to love and take care of her again.
Most breeders provide chipped pups these days, and all shelters microchip dogs and cats before they are adopted. But many people don't register the chip in their name so if they move after adopting or purchasing an animal, the shelter or breeder can't locate them - if the pet is lost and scanned for the chip. So make sure where ever you register the chip you also keep it up to date.

My husband comes from several generations of fire fighters. His father, His grandfather and his great grandfather were all volunteer firefighters. He wanted to become one as well but he developed sever asthma and they wouldn't let him train because of the smoke is a trigger.
Tell your dad a random stranger on the internet said thank you. Being a firefighter is being a real hero. I appreciate the hard live saving work that firefighters do.

Just before the first time I went to live there I was looking at a map and saw the river and thought, cool there is a river there. Then I showed up and saw the fucking river, and smelled it.... "River...." LA River is a LIE, ha ha....!
Living in England, I never understood what that place was on terminator 2 where John Connor gets chased by the policeman liquid metal termintor when he was on his motorbike and the cop was in the truck. Now it makes sense. Absolutely stunningly beautiful reunion & rescue. Tinker Bell loves her daddy so very much. I was glad to see a proper reunion. Take good care every day everyone. God bless 🍀 🍀 🍀
BIG THANKS to the LAFD, Hope For Paws, the vet hospital that cared for her afterwards and put her cast on, and for whoever invented the microchip!!!! This family clearly love and missed their family member who clearly love a d missed them! Tinkerbell is going home--no one could ask for a better Thanksgiving story!
Can you just imagine what it would be like to lose your dog in another city and not be able to find them? What those three weeks without the dog must have been like and then to get that call that someone had found your pet? I had to put my last dog to sleep as he was dying of kidney failure. It was the first time I had to do it alone. Afterwards, I took him home and buried him next to my barn. Then I cried the rest of the night and no I'm not one of those overly sentimental people. It was more a case that he was the only thing I had left, and then he was gone. I can only imagine the joy of getting back a pet you think you've lost.
Honestly you don't have be a genius to figure out that July 4th (and any other time at which people are known to use fireworks) is a dangerous date in which many non-human animals get lost, injured and even die. You have to guess in advance that the dog might jump over a fence specially if it's not his/her home. Besides, in addition to using a microchip, which I am not 100% a fan of, owners MUST ensure their dogs wear a collar with an ID tag with their name and contact phone clearly stated on it. This dog might have been saved much sooner by regular folks who happen to see her had she been wearing an ID tag. This is a commentary for anyone reading. And I am very very sorry for your loss.
@@sasharules2007 I tend to not judge situations where I don't know all of the facts. You might want to try doing that. "non-human animals"? what kind of person uses that terminology. I'm pretty sure 99.99% of the people who are able to use the internet would understand if you used the term "animals" that you're not talking about humans. Sorry if I took your post wrong but it just came across as a self-righteous animal rights rant. I don't feel these people did anything intentionally harmful to their dog. Accidents happen, people make mistakes. Let's not jump all over people we don't know regarding a situation we don't know everything about. This is a nice video about a reunion between a pet and it's owners. Let's keep it that way.
O.K. I'm crying. What a wonderous surprise that Tinkerbell had a family who loved her! Anytime the L.A. Fire Dept. needs to practice drill they should call Hope for Paws. :>)
You can report them. Under their video there is a "more" word (on every video on you tube). Click on that and it opens up. One part says "report"..click on that and follow the instructions. Very easy thank goodness.
I learned of that too. I was kinda confused why some of the videos there were uploaded in just a day(same date). And it came to me there's is a bit difference in the name of the channel it was typed as Hope for paws, oh yeah really fake. The real channel, like this one is typed Hope For Paws.
My hubby is a professional FireFighter and he too gets his phone out and films/videos other kinds of hero's on the job, such as ones like you! In Ohio where we live, we are now lawfully allowed to help injured animals! This went into effect in June 2016, and we have been totally stoked....so stoked that I went to our vet and asked them to donate animal oxygen mask (muzzle type) to our Fire Department, and they were elated to do so, and of course they were pumped when I informed them of our new Ohioan Law regarding FF & Paramedics/EMT's legally allowed to help our beloved animals who are injured and need medical attention ASAP! Yay!! BTW I want to order roughly 6-10 of your Lucky Leash's, and wanted to know if I ordered them today....would they be delivered in time for Christmas? Sorry for being off topic here, but I want to order them ASAP, and to send a special gift to you! A bunch of my fellow animal lovers including our FireHouse want to gather some donation money to send along with my order. I've spread the word about you to many, but I talk about you a lot to my FD family! Our Fire Department is hooked on watching all of your rescue videos now, and because of your videos and myself they have become more aware regarding animal abuse, abandonment, etc., and now call me when they suspect anything wrong relating to animals, even when they are out on runs for work! I'd love to hear back from you Eldad....You're my hero too!
I'm so heart broken when I see any of these videos Someday I wish to be able to help Hope for paws myself! I love animals and I would never EVER want to do anything more than help them like they do here (currently I'm too young to volunteer but, still the idea is to stay!) I cannot wait to officially help Hope for paws in 3 years ;-; Gl Hope for paws keep doing what you do I wish I could donate like markiplier did (aka 1000 dollars) But I cant I LOVE YOU GUYS KEEP HELPING ANIMALS
Why are there always the "they don't love their dog" or "dog is abused" comments on reunion videos? You're not gonna microchip, drive from Arizona to L.A. with kids in tow, and video tape the reunion for a dog you don't give a shit about. Geesh ppl.

How do you think it would feel if you were homeless and were injured like this like actually get a fucking heart and soul cause doesn’t seem like you have any you should have some truth and believe in these adorable animals (unlike you nasty person) and Kim S to me it feels like your not even human ok. And Kim S get a heart and soul
what the fuck dude? the original comment was saying how the dog clearly loves the owners, and you're here hurling personal threats and insults. in their original comment, they where never rude or disrespectful. you must of replied to the wrong comment, because your reply sure as fuck doesn't have anything to do with the original comment.
In all the HFP rescues I have watched, this is the first one where thr family wanted their dog back! Bless everyone in this whole story. HFP's, LAFD, and of course Tinkerbell and her family ❤🙏
My friends dog was reunited after traveling 50 miles away from where we live, after 4 months. She even was happy to see me! And I don't even see this friend outside of school too much! Microchips pretty much secure your dog from being picked up by the pound!
Such a well behaved dog, even after that adventure she was happy but calm when she was reunited with the family. So nice to see the pack together again.
Mastiffs are actually a very chill type of dog. You also have to keep in mind she broke her leg, been homeless for a few weeks and was in pain and probably exhausted from being under so much stress the last few weeks. Once she rest and is off pain meds and takes time to recover from her stress she will bounce back. Animals go under stress like we do and need to recover from it as well.
This video made me miss my dog so much. She was put to sleep just over two years ago and I grew up with her. She was an English bulldog, a chubby little thing. I’m so happy!! Big dogs are often just abandoned and no one wants hem back. They die alone in shelters. I have one dog. One. And he’s my life. I would die if something like this happened to him. DIE. literally die. (I’m blind and deaf in one side of my head and have autism.). My dog is my eyes ears and alarm system. He’s my guardian and my protector. He talks to me like a person and keeps me sane. Saved me from 3 people. One attacker and two creepers. Dogs are our best friends for a reason. Thank goodness for their little furry gurry butts!!

@@maybrad5260 Maybe not, some people find a lost dog in bad shape and take care of it and keep it. I did this back in the... wanna say late 80's, little doggo walked up to our farmhouse, wasn't a puppy, and wasn't a dog from any of the neighbors places. So we patched him up and gave him some dinner and no-one ever came looking for him so he lived with us the rest of his life. He used to go walkabout sometimes, and weeks later he'd roll back up, all beaten up, looking really happy with himself like he'd been on huge week long stag-do bender. We'd put disinfectant on his cuts and give him his dinner and he would be home again for a few weeks. I always think: that coulda been someone's best friend, but we didn't keep him by force, he came and went as he wanted, so I dunno, I don't think I stole someone's dog, more felt like he was a hired hand, would come and do some ratting, then he'd be off looking for female friends and fighting, like all the tough guys ;)
@@tinahayes3903 I agree, I love the videos because they show you rescuing lost and homeless animals, the sad part is they use to belong to someone who no longer wants them.

Wow, you must be a very strong person. I've bawled at pretty much all of their videos. Especially the one of Dennis, which I honestly could not handle.
Yes and no. I've been involved in(especially difficult/risky) rescues for over fifty years, and while some of the chips have sometimes shown marvellous results I've also seen animals returned to arseholes you wouldn't allow to own a dead cockroach. These days we make assessments BEFORE contacting a previous owner.
My dog strongly believes my family is her pack, she’s too big n love with my mom and she doesn’t run away when scared, she either looks for our help or fights it.
I always cry on these because of what humans have done to these poor souls but this time I cried because of everyone pitching in to help and cheering when she was lifted to safety. Thank you Hope for Paws and I donate $5 a month Its not much but if it can help ..
That is because no one pays attention to humans that are in the same condition as that dog was when he was found in the river. If we did, we would learn many stories from them too.

When the Dad approached she lit up; then she almost looked like a child with her head on the Mom's shoulder, & watching her interactions with the kids you could tell how relieved she was & how very excited they were! Tinkerbell was really happy you rescued her & was ready to go home to Arizona!
@@sasharules2007 ?? That's just weird. Personally, I thought the dog was relatively unexcited to see her family. So I wonder how much care they actually take of her. But, they did bring her to LA for a vacation to visit some family out there; And she is a very large dog to be taking on a trip like that. So one has to assume they take better care of her than your average family that owns a dog.
@@SteveKasian Like I said, there's a reason they lost the dog and not the children. I am a rescuer I see hundreds of cases of owners losing their dogs or cats because they do not ensure not to put them at risk. And if you take your dog to another city you need to be extra careful.
@@sasharules2007 Equating children with animals is a bit unrealistic though. Children are intelligent (though some are arguably questionable in that regard!); Animals are not. One tends to keep their children within sight; Not so with animals, even when one is caring properly for them. Children don't get frightened at the loud sounds of fireworks and thunder and react by running away from their parents; They actually tend to do exactly the opposite when they are scared. Animals, on the other hand, do exactly that: They run *away* - as far away from the loud noise as they think they can get. And, because the noises are coming from "everywhere," there is literally no place they won't run (the LA River). So one can lose their pet in situations like that very easily, even if certain precautions are taken. Fact is, while most people don't even consider the fact that their animals will react that way to fireworks or thunder, that is more a reflection of their general stupidity and ignorance than it is a lack of love for their pets.
@@SteveKasian You got it all wrong, 1) humans (children grown ups etc) are animals - unless you show me some paper saying they belong to the plant or mineral kingdom; 2) non-humans animals are FAR more intelligent than some human animals; 3) children are FAR more intelligent than adults, only they lack experience and their SNC is not fully developed at birth; 4) dogs cats and other animales get hurt, lost or end up date due to human negligence, there is no love where there is negligence or stupidity, no PhD is required to keep a child or dog/cat safe, just responsibility, attention and common sense (you don't even need much love!). Best.

Damn, I got tears when the people on the bridge cheered. So good of them to call the fire department. There are good caring people everywhere!!
That was SO COOL! This might have been the best one yet!! :D Man, daddy brought the video camera to go get her too! Loving family reunited. What a GREAT episode. I can't lie, I cried _like a baby_.

Exactly it makes me sick when a person abandones their own dog after they've had them for years and don't care the dog is on the street. But this was a nice ending 👌

I love what firefighters do. My father is one and I love that he goes out to save lives, human or animal.
I hope all the good things come for your dad and your family! Please say thank you to him for saving many lives!!!

Thank you for what you do, Hope For Paws!
She was so happy and it was so sweet to see the dad with the camera...I had some tears in my eyes 😭

LA river, wow I still chuckle everytime someone tells me thats a river.
Just before the first time I went to live there I was looking at a map and saw the river and thought, cool there is a river there. Then I showed up and saw the fucking river, and smelled it.... "River...." LA River is a LIE, ha ha....!
LA river is kinda a perfect metaphor for it's surroundings.

That is so sad

Why are there always the "they don't love their dog" or "dog is abused" comments on reunion videos? You're not gonna microchip, drive from Arizona to L.A. with kids in tow, and video tape the reunion for a dog you don't give a shit about. Geesh ppl.
Kim S I agree. Plus Tinkerbell's reaction to them was nothing but loving. Then she yawned to them. That's a dogs sign of I love u. Seriously, it's dogaluage.
It would not be the first ones door knob.
Kim S I totally agree they love Tinkerbell.
Kim S you are actually so fucking rude and disrespectful. How do you think it would feel if you were homeless and were injured like this like actually get a fucking heart and soul cause doesn’t seem like you have any you should have some truth and believe in these adorable animals (unlike you nasty person) and Kim S to me it feels like your not even human ok. Slikx666 what's with ur profile pic
Slikx666 that’s the nature of the mastiff. So gentle. A gentle giant love them

@@maybrad5260 how do you know their dog doesn't have a microchip?
I'm sorry for you I hope you find boy
You can tell from her eyes she needed help and needed love and a good home thank you guys for saving this dog

Yes and no. When the Dad approached she lit up; then she almost looked like a child with her head on the Mom's shoulder, & watching her interactions with the kids you could tell how relieved she was & how very excited they were! Tinkerbell was really happy you rescued her & was ready to go home to Arizona!
If only they took as good care of the dog as they did with the kids.... there's a reason why they lost the god but not the kids.
Best.
I cried so much for this sweet girl
