Dog screams every time he is touched - so sad to see such a scared dog 💔

- Loreta was quick here and managed to avoid a bite, but in two days, I will post a video where she wasn't that lucky and was bitten TWICE - I will post it here: www.HopeForPaws.org ❤️
When we got a text on the #HopeForPaws emergency line, we headed out to rescue #Arnold. It's important to understand that dogs like him don't usually leave the shelters alive... the system doesn't have the resources to provide the support system that a dog like him needs.
After ruling out a medical issue, Arnold continued to our friends at #FoxyAndTheHounds where Terri Fox had to teach him how to love all over again. She did a great job and she really turned him around! She then did something even more amazing, but you'll have to watch until the end 🥰
There are many more dogs for adoption on their website: www.FoxyAndTheHounds.org
I just spoke to Loreta and she asked if there is any way for her to text our subscribers... she wants to send a message to everybody. I told her that every person who signs up here will get her text: www.HopeForPaws.org/Join
Thank you so much for watching our videos! Tomorrow I will post another video 😉

I am Arnold’s new mama. He had the most amazing Christmas and Santa filled his stocking up with lots of toys. Arnold is by far the hardest rescue we have ever adopted however this little boy wants to love and be loved so very much and every day it gets better. Arnold now spends his days on any and all pieces of furniture in the house. He loves taking a nap on his heating pad most days. He has more toys than he knows what to do with and his diet consists of roasted chicken, boiled chicken, ground sirloin, Kobe beef, roast beef, and turkey. We will spoil Arnold for the rest of his life and love him. We will NEVER abandon him or hurt him. He now lives the life of luxury!!
So grateful for people who get it!!! Much graditude extended from the heart ❤!
Blessings 🌿
Thank you for being the loving family he so desperately needs. We could all see Arnold is loved... spoiled rotten and happier then he has been... maybe his whole life! Best wishes to your family and Happy Holidays!
Congrats on accepting the challenge of taking care of him! Not many people would do that...
A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family, human and doggos! What a miracle you all are for that traumatized little chap!
How wonderful. Happy New Year to you, Arnold and the rest of your family!
I love that the home owners asked a lot of question about where Arnold would go, would he be in a shelter, alone or with people. They are caring people. Thank you Hope For Paws for taking him into your arms, literally, and making it possible for him to have his new best life. Happy Holidays!!
Totally agree. They seem like very good people
🧡
Totally agree. Such kind people. ❤️❤️👍🏻
They were awesome!!
Totally agree there so kind and helpful!
The negative comments about their rescue techniques are ridiculous. The results speak for themselves. Hope for Paws is definitely one of the top 5 rescue channels on YT.
The pets are handled with compassion and patience by everyone involved. I support them whenever I can.🥰
Could you imagine not speaking the human's language and being so terrified? How could he ask or know if the humans are going to hurt him again? I'm no Dog Whisperer but I'll bet that sweetie was beaten and probably spent his whole life trembling with fear. Now look how calm and for the first time in who knows how long, he's happy. Merry Christmas Arnold.
Gotta give kudos to the homeowners - not only feeding the dog and calling in help, but following up with questions to make sure the dog is actually going to be well-cared for. (Not that any of us ever had any doubts!)
Agreed! The best part was the homeowners making sure Arnold was going to an indoor home with his own family and not an outdoor dog sanctuary.
The world is truly a better place because of your organization. Thank you for all that you do 🤩
And a great happy New Year, little guy,,🥰
When she said “ he’s learning that this hands is never gonna hurt him “ 🥺🥺🥺 he looks so happy 🥰
That poor little dog named Arnold. You could tell how he must have been abandoned and abused because he was so afraid to be touched. But Thanks to the people of Hope for Paws they got him to build his confidence up. He is a sweet dog. Hope he went to a good home with lots of love ❤ to give him and take great care. 👍
People leaving mean comments are the People doing nothing... thank you for your amazing work ❤
They are probably the people abandoning their pets because they don't know what to do with a pet.
A lot of speculation in this thread. How did it get from “this method is bad” to “they’re probably abandoning their pets?” What is wrong with you guys?
Marie C//// JUST IMAGINE HOW THESE LOSERS TREAT THEIR OWN PETS,CHILDREN OR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND OTHER PEOPLE IN GENERAL!!!!! THEY MUST LIVE A SAD WORTHLESS LIFE!!!!!!
There not people called them parasite
Marie C That is an unfair statement. It is mostly reacting to the reactions of a frightened animal and not relating this to a human that is severely afraid. If they did this, most would likely feel that if it is okay for a human then the animal will be fine, too. Be careful with your emotions and comments you make. Don't feed the trolls. HFP is about helping not only animals, but helping people to be better pet owners. They do not want people angered any more than they need to be. Nor do they want people to be unreasonable or unbalanced in their anger.
Looks like Arnold received the best Christmas gift EVER!!!!
For sure!!!
As an owner of a small dog who experienced the same things as poor Arnold, I can confirm that the flooding technique works ❤
It forces them to make a choice by them to surrender to love they are safe and loved its a very felt experience 🙏❤️
You guys know what you are doing & the flooding works.Screw the ones who object to flooding. They’ve probably never rescued an animal.
I have had 24 cats in 44 years. ALL of them were homeless before I rescued them.
My girlfriend has 2 cats we rescued from abuse & our beloved Betty Boop cat died 3 years ago at 16 & she was rescued from abandonment, covered with fleas & full of worms. She was one of the sweetest cats ever.
My girlfriend has had many homeless cats and kittens as well.
Her girlfriend took in a pregnant mama cat and now has 5 and a dog.
No animal or human should wind up abandoned and on the street.
So sorry that anyone would criticize you. They obviously don't know you well. I have watched hundreds of videos and know that you know what you are doing. Look at little Arnold now. Your work speaks for its self. Love you guys...
also - flooding is a well known technique even in human psychotherapy - it just works! and while it might be quite hard on anyone during the process, it is safe and super fast
Right like I don’t get why they would think they know more than experts? It’s literally ignorant idiots like that who are the problem.
I has been always impressed by your interrelation with scared yet panicked dogs. Your bottomless patience teaches us a lot.
You both are gifted.
Now I get the confirmation that you have some therapeutic practice.
@@lol-gy9pj not really because there are different therapeutic approaches for dogs And humans, both mammals (the same emotional system). When one method works for one patient (dog or human), it does not work the best for another one
I speak out of experience (i got different therapies for trauma - for me EMDR failed, a method very efficient for others. The best for me is what can be called 'meditative tools', for others in turn this can be of no interest)
But
All therapeutic methods that work are based on the same principles (because the mammalian brain (dog or human) works in a defined way)
For ex the 1st stage is desensitization - for dogs and humans.
The only critic I think is that a discussion can - ought to - be friendly.
@@lol-gy9pj The people who don't get it are a bunch of losers with no life, who probably never come out of their basements. The fact that they think they know more than the experts, and the great people at Hope For Paws really says a lot about them. As you said before they literally are the problem.
He's such a friendly doggie who is just scared. Glad you guys got him safe and sound. Props to the homeowner, Terri, Loreta and Eldad. Sending lots of love
I love it Jungkookie 💜
People actually gave you a hard time on social media? What a horrible world we live in. Bless you
We have had 2 dogs that we know were abused. We had another that we suspected was abused. One came to us on a plane and it took me 4 hours to get her to come out of the crate 1/2 way. The other piddled when she was excited and then cowered because she had been hit for piddling. The suspected abused dog would "shy" and raise one paw to cover her face when she was scolded. It made me mad that she did this as I thought everyone who saw it would think I was the abuser. People who saw me with her quickly realized I was not the one who abused her as she and I had a great relationship and she was always treated like a queen. "Flooding" if used correctly does work. And it is much easier with a small dog. Hope for Paws knows what they are doing. That's why I choose to donate to them. I have never seen a rescue that I questioned what they did. They are professional and loving. Happy New Year!
Education is key! Flooding is absolutely necessary for pups like this and people just need to take the time to see that it is not hurtful to the dog, but so important for him to experience it so he will be able move on. Well done!! Little Arnold is the cutest :)
I agree. Taking it slowly will only prolong the distress, it would almost be like continuing to abuse the dog.
The couple who saved Arnold weren't experienced rescuers, so they did what they thought was best. They believed they were doing the right thing by giving Arnold time to de-stress, decompress, and get used to them by not touching him until he was ready.
The important thing is that everyone did their part in getting Arnold to where he is today...the couple who caught him, Eldad and his team,Terri and her team, and his adopters. All those people taught Arnold that he has value, and that they were all willing to work hard to teach him to be a trusting, loving boy because his life has meaning and importance, and he deserves a loving forever home.
I can only imagine the horrible abuse this little dog was put through for him to be that scared. Hope For Paws has so much patience and so much love they give to these rescues. I love Hope For Paws!
Some chihuahuas are that kind of timid by nature. I used to work with a lady who had two. The male took a week to get used to me. The female too 2 months before she stopped trying to bite because she was so afraid. She had both since they were puppies, and had tried to do everything right for both of them
@@michaeltutty1540 But this owner that abandoned this dog wasn't doing everything right which does make me wonder what all they did wrong.
My mother had a Chihuahua so I know how timid and nervous they can be but he didn't yelp every time he was touched. He might growl to tell someone he didn't know to keep away but not yelp like that.
Eldad, do not let the people who left bad messages stop you. That is the downside to comments, but the upside is the overwhelming majority understands. Happy New year, and this is the place I donate. Thanks!
Can't help but notice that Arnold is quite well-endowed for his size. LOL
I adopted an extremely timid and scared 3lb chihuahua from a hoarding situation. She had never been socialized and was about 1 year old. I didn't know there was a technique called 'flooding' but I decided right away she needed to Face Her Fears. So, for the first few weeks, when I was home, she was in a baby front pack carried around or on a leash so she could not run and hide from me. She lived 14 years and was always timid and skittish but also such a sweet, dear, tiny little girl. She learned to love and trust a few special people. We still miss her.
14 years. You are really lucky. Most dogs don't live that long
Wonder that you took the time and effort to help her.. I had a Chow-X rescue. We were his 4 or 5th home. It took
2 years of training to make him a good, safe boy. One of my greatest accomplishments...
@@dogifish0078 Little dogs can live longer than some larger breeds. I have had many chihuahuas in my life. Mostly they lived between 14 and 18 years.
@@jenscheibner792 Lucky Chow to find you at last! What a rewarding part of life to save an innocent soul. I imagine mine was easier than yours since she could be carted around in my pocket and never tried to bite or even growl at anyone.
I'm so sorry for your loss. But please remember she had a long, happy life with you and was loved all that time. ❤
The end result is what's important, he has a home where he is loved.
Arnold had so much resistance to love...because he was betrayed and he is full of love...beautiful ending...♡
There are people in this world that would criticize regardless of the situation! Pay no attention to them! You folks know what you are doing!!
Abuse was the first thing thatcI thought judhing from his reaction 😪 Poor baby, I'm so happy you rescued him and now he has a new lease on life 😊
It's always the ones who know the least who critcize the most. Put your money where your mouths are and support Hope for Paws as a monthly gift. I am so proud and honored to be a monthly donor so they can do what they do best, save animals that are thrown out like trash as also human babies are. HOPE FOR PAWS FOREVER!

Brilliant statement.
Me too.....all the way from the UK.....THAT'S how much I respect these guys and their selfless care, dedication and hard work!! 😍🇬🇧
They are the best... Team..
I can’t imagine anyone who watches your videos, questioning your methods. It’s obvious that you would only do what is best for the animals, and that only kind, compassionate people are part of Hope For Paws. Love & admiration far outweighs the critics
♥️ 🐶 🐾 🐈 🐀 🐢 ❤️
I know I'm crying of happiness, but this story touched my soul... For a dog to be so scared of being touched by a human, I cannot imagine the abuse he must have gone thru!
It breaks my heart so badly to know someone hurt him so much that it filled every moment of his life with fear. I'm so grateful to his foster for showering him with love and helping him feel safe again. Bless you all!
The monster that hurt him so much to make him scream the way he did deserves to be publicly flogged then imprisoned for life (a bit over the top some might say but honestly if I was supreme leader of the world that's what would happen)
I cannot believe that anyone has the nerve to criticise your methods - HFP and everyone they work with are truly wonderful and you only have to look at sweet little Arnold to see how successful they are.
Thank you SO VERY MUCH for all that you do, you are brilliant 💗
It is very understandable when you consider it from the viewpoint of the person watching. It does look cruel to those who do not understand that with such a high degree of fright, it is best to quickly work to calm the frightened one down quickly.
Everybody on the internet thinks they're THE pet expert
The people who automatically cry "cruelty" are the ones who are trying to convince other people they are animal lovers. But the problem is, they usually don't know what they're talking about, they don't take time to learn about things, and they don't understand the whole situation and don't bother to find out. They only want to fight about something. At least that's been my experience with them. When asked, they can't tell you anything other than "that's cruel". If you tell them to study something or find out the reasons or other underlying factors, they "don't have the time for that".
The term animal lover is used too much anyway. Most are, if at all, "pet lovers". One can not really be an animal lover while also eating animals - especially with so many cheap and nutritious alternatives around.
@@Bloxeh and here it is, the self righteous opinion of veganism nobody asked for.
I can't believe people would leave ignorant nasty comments about "flooding". As if they know better than Hope For Paws! You guys are the best at everything you do!👍❤
I know I'm crying of happiness, but this story touched my soul... For a dog to be so scared of being touched by a human, I cannot imagine the abuse he must have gone thru!.. Thank you again Hope for Paws and Foxy for rescuing and helping him get thru it with a super duper adopting family!.. Bright future for you now Arnold!
I was waiting in my car for a friend when running down the driveway chasing this little dog (which belonged to them) caught him down in the ground punching him with their fists. I did all I could do to restrain myself from getting involved. Being a animal advocate and a lover of all animals, I could not witness this without stopping this cruel act before my eyes. I let out a scream, just as the owners mother was coming out. "STOP IT". The children looked at me in shock. I called the oldest to my car to educate these children of how much that dog loves them even when they hit him. That very dog may save your life some day. Telling them true facts of bravery dogs have done saving a child and adults. They listened intently. The responsibilities lie with the adults, especially parents, to teach the them to respect all forms of life. GOD gave us these creatures, for days like now filled with darkness to see the light of hope through these animals
@@geraldineharkness9534 I'm not sure that method works except with sensitive children. And sensitive children wouldnt do what you described. You tried. Better to educate the parent in my view - carrot and stick!
Happy to see Loreta, been missing her!
I agree with this process.....dogs are unique in getting over trauma faster if they are made to face what scares them and realize they are not getting harmed. As they probably were in the past...
Respect to the people who were worried about his outcomes, not just handing him over to anyone.
Arnold deserves every one of his Christmas toys and the gift of a loving home!
This world needs more people like you guys keep up the fab work love from the uk 🇬🇧 xx
Yeah
😎
Every Single Day I come to Hope For Paws for HOPE to help me believe things will get better for all of us.
The people that owned the home were so concerned what was going to happen to the dog. It was so hard to hear him cry but everything turned out for him and he got a new and better home. ❤️
What a beautiful success story! Thanks to everyone in this video for their role in saving this guy ☺️
I used flooding with my 18 month old rescue dog who is now a very happy & relaxed elderly dog. It enabled her to bond with me more quickly. I think it was kinder because there was one person she could rely on to help her overcome her many other terrors. She was an extreme case and I was warned by my vet about fear aggression - she is sweet natured and has never shown any aggression.
It’s heartbreaking that some humans can be so cruel. To see him scream like that brought me to tears. I’m so glad he found a loving home and will never be fearful again ❤️
Three years ago we purchased a German Shepherd puppy as we're lovers of GSDs and this one was three months old with had perfect markings. Absolutely adorable she looked on the photos so we were wondering all the way why this one was not sold first.
We arrived at the hobby farm and we were approached by the GSD mummy who appears good tempered (that's how we get to know the pups temperament) and we patted the mum very well. It came to the pup where the owner brought it out the pup shrieked and cried at being touched and being held. She was that petrified that she urinated on us.
For a good 20 minutes, we sat at the porch and patted this perfect looking pup. We knew that this was going to be a hell of a challenge and we purchased her. She came home and met our aged border collie where they became instant friends and settled to the family however we knew that she was abandoned or abused even at that very young age.
It took constant dedication where she would not go into a car but we took she to a local shopping centre to be socially trained we wanted every to pat her so she would get used to humans even strangers and children where one time and RSPCA officer saw this and commented with praise at the dedication into training her.
Three years later she is trained really well and while she still does not trust strangers but she is at a stage that she will allow them to approach. She not a dangerous dog but she really has that GSD stare at strangers and I pity any person who would try to enter our premesis without authorisation because her loyalty is exceptional.
To all the people that left nasty messages you should really educate yourself. These people know what they're doing.
Maybe he's been a victim of abused, coz if someone tries to pet him, he thinks he's going to be hit or something! Poor baby. Good thing heroes exists in this world. Thanks guys
The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Arnold went from a little dog terrified to be touched to a happy, affectionate, confident dog so clearly the flooding technique works and that’s good enough for me. It’s not cruel so I fail to see why anybody would object. That’s life though, no matter what you do there will be criticism but if it’s not constructive or valid criticism it’s best ignored. Another wonderful Hope for paws rescue and kudos to the caring couple that changed Arnold’s life by providing him with food and a safe place before calling for help.
It is not like he is hitting Arnold, and he did not any bad effect that I could see. You are right I could see valid or helpful criticism, there is no reason to go after someone that is trying to do the right thing.
I imagine flooding could be traumatic if done by a person who didn’t know what they’re doing - but these guys are professionals.
If Arnold was captured by animal control, he would be immediately put down. Flooding saved his life, the end. Go FLooding!!! 😉
@@mollymcdade4031 Not exactly true. I'm not a professional, but I ended up getting a cat from a friend that was super skittish even from birth, and he'd hiss and get so scared any time someone would pet him. I decided to start with a long pole with a towel on the end of it, and I did the flooding technique. He never really freaked out after the initial touch each time, and within 2 months, he was a totally different cat, cuddling with me and being affectionate as heck!!
@@rain-wanders I wonder if there are cases where the technique doesn't work. For example, in a previous cat rescue video, Hope for Paws kept the kittens but released their mother back into the wild because she couldn't (wouldn't?) be domesticised.
Poor buddy. He looked so much more at ease when he realized he would no longer be harmed.
Awww your doing Gods work helping & loving these sacred creatures...keep up the wonderful work..so heart warming to see Arnold come out of himself & allow your love allowed him to feel safe & LOVED...God Bless you...🙏💜🙏
Flooding seems "mean" to those who don't understand the reasoning behind it. It is a practice also used in mental health situations where some body has phobias fears etc. and the goal is to show them that they are not in danger . Happy Arnold got a furever family.
So happy for him , poor baby who knows what happened in his life , which will stay in the past , thanks to you guys!
Negative people will always wanna say something. I think all of you good people that are these animals voices are amazing and may God bless you all
I’ve seen “flooding” before and know it works. It’s so good to see Arnold learning to trust again. What a great story!
AMEN
Happy for you arnold... ❤️😇 A loving forever home for you.
unfortunately sometimes people react negatively to things they dont understand and if that method of flooding helps any pet to recover faster and happier how could you be against that?
The Net is full of "know better" people and most of them should get their fingers twisted to avoid to flood the medias with BS !
So painful to see an animal so scared of human touch. Breaks my heart every time. Thanks so much for helping Arnold and so many others.
Absolutely poor little thing, rescuers were amazing
I actually didn't know this technique had a name, but I've used it on fosters and shelter animals during socialization. It's obviously not ideal for every animal or situation, but it's often the best and quickest way to show an animal, definitively, that no matter what they do, they will NOT be hurt or punished for it. It can really be the fastest way to show them that they are in a safe environment with safe people in it and that it's okay to relax.
Oh poor doggo was definitely abused. Glad to see he's ok. Merry Christmas Arnold xx
Arnold, you are living your best life 🥰
Anyone criticizing needs to understand that canine behaviour is NOT human behaviour. Dogs are not people. They react on instinct, not by rationalizing. Watching Hope for Paws should convince viewers they know what they're doing! Great job, team!
Breaks my heart in tiny pieces to see an animal react like that to a simple touch. That's abuse, clear and simple. It's a joy to see this little guy getting a home he deserves and settling into his best life going forward. Anyone who induces that kind of fear in any animal should be taken out into the street and beaten within an inch of their lives. See how they like it.
Arnold.. She kept the name. Sweet.
He's defo an Arnold. 😀
Arnold is a brave dog. I am proud of him. He will live happily ever ☺️. Good job guys

What a great rescue! Nice work, Eldad! 😃
Word of advice for those who may want to post about the flooding:
Flooding is a non-aggressive technique often used by professionals as a form of information association. It is a gentle, time consuming technique that *does not* harm the animal. The animal may be terrified, but they are *never* hurt during this process. It's the idea of be the change you want to see, just used with gentle movements and many many rounds of therapy.
For those who'd like a more 'personal' way to understand this, think of it like a person with anxiety, such as myself. The person is backed into a corner and is *terrified* because of the unknown, but the person in front of them is one of their supports. They may not know it, but they are. Sometimes as a person with anxiety, you can be scared over the smallest things and all it takes is constant support and care. That's what Flooding is. Personal 1 on 1 support that shows the animal that you can be trusted, and as long as you're there, the danger is nullified. My boyfriend is my support. Hope for Paws was Arnold's.
Please, before you assume something, take the time to research or consult someone you trust.
I think the issue may be that it claims to both terrify and *not harm* the pet, but a lot of people see putting a pet in a terrifying situation by force to be harm. Idk.
I’m not a dog trainer or rehabilitator so I have no opinions but I think I can see where the confusion is.
@@Hannah-zw9ow And they never think to relate the technique being used on humans, which many have seen it done and found it was indeed necessary.

I’ll never understand how people give up on their pet dogs.
People give up on children it’s not a hard concept to grasp
@@greg20423 maybe you understand it because you have the same scummy morals but some of us would never walk away from children or pets so we don’t understand how the scummy side of society can be so pathetically cold hearted.

Man! Arnold scored big time for Christmas! A brother or sister, toys galore and a new Mom! Way to go, buddy!
My God, I can't even imagine what happened to Arnold in the past. He must be abused so bad to get scared so easily like that. Curse to the ex-owner. And thanks to all of you for doing such a great job. I'm glad that you work together with such an amazing foster house.
So moving!
My little Pax (mongrel with a bit of dachshund and a lot of who knows what) has been more than 6 years with me, and she still has night terrors and screams or growls if she's half-asleep and I touch her. But the 'love flooding' worked for us too, before I knew that's what it was called. Now, in those sporadic moments of fear, I just tell her 'baby, it's me' as I pet her, and she calms down.
As always, thanks for doing and for sharing.
Thanks for not giving up on her!! 🧡
I was so excited to see Arnold's video here! I followed his progress with Foxy and the Hounds and saw when he got adopted. Thank you!!!

My Chiweenie Toby came running as soon as he heard the dog's cries. Poor little dog. Thank you for saving him!
Why would people be unkind about immersion therapy? If the person doing it is kind and trustworthy, it's a good way to go.
Not only has he been on his own for so long…but we can only imagine his history with other human hands. You can see that he accepted your touch just a bit. He’s so scared but still craving a caring touch. Thank you for being that caring touch!
One thing I've learned from rescuing/adopting a shelter animal is...NEVER GIVE UP ON THEM.
Well done! 🥰
