I would certainly try to add the main keyword to the URL, maybe not for direct ranking impact, but it may also help increase CTR and by that way increase rankings.
Right, CTR should go up, as people will clearly see URL represents something they looked for

That's entirely up to you :) CDNs can help with visitors that may be further away from your origin server.

You can either have it custom coded or if you're a Wordpress user, there are different plugins available. Just search in the Wordpress plugin database and choose the one that best suits your needs.

Hi! Should we use forward domain! What does impact on DA PA of main domain & what about forward domain DA PA, is this good practice?
Link authority will be forwarded to a main domain, but make sure original domain's backlinks are relevant to your new domain to avoid possible penalties for link schema.

Honestly one of the best SEO videos I have ever watched, holy hot damn! I was hoping that the last one would be SSL, and while I know that Chrome is displaying warnings about that shortly, it’s more secure, blah blah, would love to see some data based feedback. Anything on that?

"Looks like over 80% of pages that rank #1 in Google are not secure (based on our data sample).
But at the same time you can clearly see that the percentage of secure pages in positions 1-3 is visibly higher than in positions 4-10."

Great. I am so frustrated when I see new competitors using short URLs, with my key word, starting to take my position. My page URL is so Long....I am wonder if it will be better to change it? The page still ranking in top 5 .☹️
I think there are more things you can do to try and optimize your page better for your target keyword than changing the URL slug.

I don't see anything wrong with having a similar site structure or targeting the same topics as your competitor. As long as you're not merely duplicating, like the content, etc.

The on-page optimization tips would be the same. However, in your keyword research, you'd likely find different results (ie. city name).

Does it make sense to link from articles to my home page?
Marcel, if your articles have some backlinks, then it will share some 'link juice' with your home page, if linked to it. So I guess it should be a good practice to link back to home page.

Top 10 On Page SEO Plays in 2018
Could somebody tell me that some of the websites have a very good DR PR but their traffic value is almost less than 100$, while there are sites who have low DR and PR but their traffic value is estimated in Thousands of Dollars. What is the scale to measure the site improvement? If my intention is to get more visitors to generate leads, why should I bother to gain the DR AND PR when my competitors have low DR AND PR but they are getting lots of organic traffic according to ahrefs tool.
If you're referring to "traffic value" inside our tool, this number represents the equivalent cost of monthly traffic from all keywords that the target website/URL ranks for (if paid via PPC instead of ranking organically).
If your goal is traffic and leads, focus on getting relevant traffic to your website rather than focusing on the CPC/traffic value. Domain rating and URL rating are proprietary metrics in Ahrefs. You'll get a better idea of what these mean here: ahrefs.com/blog/seo-metrics/

You said most (85%) of top-ranking sites do NOT use the target keyword in H1.
So 15% of top-ranking sites DO use the target keyword in H1.
Did you *compare that with the bottom ranking sites?*
Maybe 0% the sites on the 4th page have the target keyword in the H1. Or 85% as well.
Knowing the comparison will make the 85% figure meaningful.
These are top 10 ranking pages. So 15% of these use target keyword in H1, where 85% do not use it. This should add some clarification.

For that reason, we cannot conclude anything from the data.
It's like saying "85% of the fastest Olympic swimmers do not have blonde hair,"
but neglecting to mention that *85% of the slowest swimmers also do not have blonde hair.*
@@Brainbuster Not sure I got your point. Why do you care about those, who do not rank? I guess this study shows, that it is not that important to have your target keyword in H1 tag. So you do not need to go through all of your pages and update your H1s to rank better, as it would not bring too much impact.

However, we cannot draw this conclusion. If 6% of the sites on page 4 have the KW in H1 tag (and 15% of the top-ranking sites have it), then *the conclusion is the opposite*.
It is important to have your target keyword in H1 tag, because 15% of the top-ranking sites have the KW in H1, whereas 6% of the poorly-ranking sites do not do that.
Unfortunately, because we have no idea what the poorly-ranking sites do, we cannot draw any conclusion.
Rather than viewing only one Data Pool A (top-ranking pages), it is necessary to *compare* Data Pool A with Data Pool B.
The data will be useful when we know what the baseline or average is.
It makes sense to me, but I still care about importance of a ranking factor. If you can rank without a target keyword in H1 - that tells me I am OK if I do not have it there. So I would skip H1 tags question and move forward to something more important for me at this moment. Later on, I might test updating a couple of H1s to see if the page can get a better position.

Not sure if anyone else bothered to reference your link, but your data was collected over two years ago. I’m no SEO expert, but doesn’t Google amend their SEO annually? For example, Google emphasized CTR will play a more prominent role this year. Tons of other experts cite this, yet your study mentions nothing about it. I just don’t understand why a two-year old study is utilized for something that gets modified so frequently.
Thanks for your feedback, Justin. As far as I know Google is constantly making little tweaks to their ranking algorithms, which makes it impossible to be completely "in the loop." But we do know that a lot of the on-page "ranking factors" that have been discussed over the past several years appear to hold validity to a certain extent.
Regarding CTR, tip 5 (in this video) does touch on improving CTR on underperforming page one Google rankings and how to do it. While we do make many references from our on page SEO study, this video also includes more recent techniques based on newer data (ie. Google's mobile page speed announcement). Hope that clears things up a bit.
