OMG i almost died when I saw that you went to the nasi ganja place. That place is my family's fav! We live almost 3 hours away but we would decide to go on the spot, whenever one of us has a craving for it. My dad used to go to school near that place in the 1960s and he said he'd skip school to go eat there sometimes lol. We have a new nasi ganja restaurant near us but it is NOWHERE near as delicious as the one in Ipoh. Another amazing video, guys!
That is awesome marumaru morimori- it's amazing that it's been there since your dad was in school- love the history of some of the eateries and stalls in Malaysia. Perak...the Silver State is actually golden in terms of its foods...lots of authentic foods made in old-school ways and in rustic settings...lots of homemade foodies with secret recipes well-kept for years and small-medium food industries living on the passion for making it and keeping the tradition alive against advent of technologies...time are kept still in rustic and charming Perak...the old towns inhibited by people with lots of history and food secret recipes...and charcoals availability spurred the usage of it in making and baking foods the old-smoking-ways...I cant write enough about Perak food scenes...and the food tour along the old trunk roads of mining towns and coastal settlements...😀😇
You are so right tomie myspace- we absolutely adored visiting Perak and taking the time to visit some of the smaller villages and towns along the way. There were so many foods that we found that are being made the same way they were nearly 100 years ago. The history is really mind blowing! We are desperate to return soon and spend more time exploring. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment mate. Cheers, Sheena

Wong kee is my primary school mates shop ! btw Welcome to Ipoh ! The coconut sambal you ate with nasi ganja is called chutney. The chicken you ate are free range chicken that run in a huge enclosed mountain or field area. Only in ipoh you could get those chicken and the oils are onion oil on the chicken and bean sprout, the rice noodles you ate also is only found in ipoh, its more silky, springy and soft and doesn't have heavy rice taste to it.

Lucky you catch this restaurant open. They are often close more than they need to open. So its very difficult to eat at this restaurant. This is the best tasting bean sprout chicken and kway teow chicken soup in Ipoh City. Try their side dishes also best 1. Chicken intestine. 2. Braised soft chicken feet.

It seems like this is the first tau fu fah you've filmed, eh? Quite popular in KL from videos I've seen in the distant past...I think. Epic food day indeed. 👍
Yep it is Tosh- this one was a cut above though. Jack and Carol who own the business have really nailed their craft. I'm sure Ipoh would be right up your alley. Perak in fact in as a state had so many incredible long standing artisan food businesses- many going back over 100 years and a lot still using the same methods to make their product. It was such an eye opener to travel around the state! And I'm sure you would love it too! Thanks for watching this one mate. Cheers, Sheena 😄
Hainanese chicken 🍗 in sesame + ginger sauce always for me...over dry roasted/fried chickens to pair with Chicken Rice...juicy, succulent, tender...strong 💪 in flavours...+Chasing a Plate...I wish that chicken can come to me now through the screen like the long hair ghost/spirit in "The Ring"...😀
It's so tasty shela kroes! Hope you get a chance to try it soon. We loved it- in fact we loved everything we ate on this food day! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. Cheers, Sheena

next time you're in Ipoh, you have to check out hor hee noodles. it's unique to Ipoh. ask the locals which stalls are good. also check out dai shu geok food court's famous yong tau fu. it's so popular that there's always a queue waiting for the next batch of stuffed tidbits to be fried up and what follows is a grab fest. seriously, people will sometimes pick 20, 30, 40 pieces at one go!
Thanks so much for the tips. We're really looking forward to our next visit to Ipoh for more of the incredible food. It's such a great food destination! Thanks so much for watching and commenting on this one! Cheers, Thomas 😀

Hi FlamerzZz! Jack and Carol were the best! We loved eating there and getting to meet them! That's interesting about the chutney and the chickens. Thanks for the info! The chicken was so special.
Absolutely delicious! We were so happy we got to try them. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena

Three Wows from Thomas. That's a first.
😂😂😂😂 he was most impressed! Thanks for watching this one Chong Keong- hope you enjoyed it! Ipoh is such a great place for food hunting! Cheers, Sheena
Me too tomie myspace! Imagine if you could just reach in and pluck the food out of the screen! 😍 Cheers, Sheena

next time you're in Ipoh, you have to check out hor hee noodles. it's unique to Ipoh. ask the locals which stalls are good. also check out dai shu geok food court's famous yong tau fu. it's so popular that there's always a queue waiting for the next batch of stuffed tidbits to be fried up and what follows is a grab fest. seriously, people will sometimes pick 20, 30, 40 pieces at one go!
Thanks so much for the tips. We're really looking forward to our next visit to Ipoh for more of the incredible food. It's such a great food destination! Thanks so much for watching and commenting on this one! Cheers, Thomas 😀
