Are you from Kazakhstan? This is a documentary channel. I want to shoot an extensive video about Kazakh wedding. If you can help me, please reach out to me! My details are in the about section of this page 😊
I'm impressed by your Kazakh pronunciation. It is much better than the pronunciation of russian speaking population of KZ. Good job!
confirmed
Exactly
Considering the fact that we use the same Cyrillic alphabet..
Wow, if you listened all of Kazakh granny's endless speeches and survived - you are Hero)))
for me, it was the most typical kazakh wedding EVER, like literally every aspect of it. Even the separate tea room haha.
1) the fat you ate was Құйрық-бауыр btw. It's the liver and fat of a sheep. Liver (бауыр) sounds like "sibling" in kazakh, and it symbolizes that two families are now together, and fat is a symbol of prosperity and money.
2) the second party is also really callrd құдалық. So you were right.
3) and bride familiy comes only after betashar, because it was typically done right after the bride comes to the groom's village (in the ancient times ofc). So bride is familiarized with the groom's village/family. And the second құдалық is when the bride's family comes after the bride after some time. After which the wedding is conducted. Nowadays, people still just keep this order.
Thanks for the explanations!
On no 2) the first part isn't "құдалық", but "құда түсу", which is done before the wedding and in essence is a proposal. The "құдалық" is done after the wedding and is a meeting of the two families, where they get to know each other
Haha. Now it reminds me of time when I was getting married to my Spanish husband. His relatives were shocked from our traditions, especially when they had to eat head of the sheep as respected guests of the wedding. However, at the same time they were having a fun 🤩 Great explanation from your side 😊
Kazakhs do not critisize each others weddings simply because in different regions we have different traditions, so rituals and everything changes according to where the wedding is:)
Nice video!) thanks for making it)
You missed another important part of any Kazakh wedding on both the bride and the groom parts: " Al ende ozymis otyryp asykpai chai isheiik".... :)

Ahahah
🤣🤣🤣👍

Of course it was interesting! Wow! 😯🤯😍 I'm Costa Rican and I love every single bit of what I learn about Kazakhstan, so yes! It was super interesting to watch all this video. I loved it! ❤️

Every time it’s so exciting to hear about our culture and traditions from your point of view :) And I really appreciate that you pronounce correctly kazakh words and do respect our culture. I can totally understand your enthusiasm about the wedding, cause every time I’m abroad I also want to attend this cultural event, but unfortunately I couldn’t still. I guess one of the reasons is that in foreign countries people tend to get married comparably late, over their 30s.
Kazakhs love guests, and you were special guest in their wedding. Because you are foreign guest 🥰 Kazakhs called this "сыйлы қонақ" ) I think because of that they give you a speech in the weddings)

According to what you said in this video, it was ordinary modern Kazakh wedding. Of course, it was different long time ago, but now most Kazakhs try to follow traditions and cover at least main wedding process. Also they add something new which differ from past kazakh weddings.
@@al1999 I don’t know which city you live, but in my city kazakh people wedding is exactly the same as in this video - qyz uzatu, bet ashar, kudalyk, syrga salu etc. I’ve never been in european style kazakh wedding yet
@@al1999 i don't know why you are so proud by this, but forgetting your own culture and traditions is not okay
@@al1999 with all respect, it has nothing to do with the topic. Furthermore, in my opinion Almaty is number one city among all Kazakhstan cities where such weddings (described by Rocky in this video) are held. I was a witness of such weddings in Almaty several times
Kazakhs arguing ‘bout wedding under the english speaking video. I’ve seen all.
Actually “Betashar” is made separately from the wedding (Uilenu toi), it was in the past like this. “Kudalyk” is also made separately from Uilenu toy. Traditionally all this parties made separately from each other. However nowadays people are doing so, for minimizing expenses on parties. It’s Ok.
You explain our traditions so well and informative. I think it's very understable for foreigners. Thank you so much
aww thank you!
@@rockyjourneys OMG I CANT BELIEVE YOU ANSWERED ME
I'm so glad that you've already seen many things during your stay here. Hope you're enjoying it :)
I don't like our big ceremonies and skip them, but I can't wait for my parents to come back with 'sarqyt', a bag with some piece of meat and various desserts, and you are lucky if they were put in separate bags, otherwise you may have a cookie that tastes like 'qazy'))
In my region on the day of the main wedding but before the event itself, bride and groom and their families and close friends all go to the mosque, where they get married by Islam traditions. Then the family leaves, but the friends stay and they go to all the famous and beautiful sights of the city to take photos. They go by cars or limousine cars which are decorated, and they make long loud signals all the way on the road, so that people know those people are getting married. They look out of the windows and wave, and people who sometimes wave back to them, make noises or just say "Congratulations!" loudly.
Other parts are almost the same as you told
Actually Syrǵa Salu is not the part of Qyz Uzatu, it is something different, it is happens before the Qyz Uzatu, but nowadays, it is comfortable to do it together. Also about white carpet, it means like, let everything be good in new family, like actually family of wife gives their girl to the husbands family, and husbands family should be with her like with the it own girl.
Also about signing for official marriage. Usually kazakhs do it in another time, becouse it doesn't matter. But before the wedding party, young family goes to the mosque to be married by religious rules, it is like part of the wedding party also.
Really amazing to know about Kazakh culture!!
Thank you so much for sharing!!

Finally, thanks to Rocky, I started understanding all those traditions, how they are called, and they mean, and what you are supposed to do at a kazakh wedding.
This was great. So different from here but with clear meaning and what a party, great job and thanks for sharing

Thank you for this cute video. It’s so venerable to know that foreigners appreciate this cultural experience ☺️
This is great that you are really interested in the Kazakh culture. This is the example how the other foreigners(not just by geographic mean, but also by mental mean) should do.
I think most foreigners in Kazakhstan would like to see a Kazakh wedding :)

Appreciate it. About the ‘чайный стол’ (tea table), in the east and northern part of the Kazakhstan they have it, but in Almaty and some parts of the country they don’t have it sadly. It’s the best part actually in my opinion 😆
Yes I agree, my Нагашылар are from notth and I geot used to this Чайхана, byt in Almaty its not like this
If you were in Western part of KZ, you would see different tradition toy or wedding. Invited around 500-600 guests.
These weddings were also during quaratine times, so they had to reduce the numbers
@@rockyjourneys oh right then. After kudalyk there is no other event I believe, but annually during the Korisu (at 14 March) Greetings as we call ( western tradition) to visit bride’s house ( Kuda and Kudagai) 😀

Im so happy to hear your opinion
You have such a pleasant voice, great pronunciation, i understand everything without subtitles 🙂
Lol that’s a typical toi, glad you were part of that iconic experience
Thanks for your video! It is interesting to see it from a different perspective.
The second day after wedding party( Uilenu toi), second party called "Domalak stol" literal translation "Round table" where present only kudalar (parents of bride's) and closest relatives. They're special guests. So they're having more time to get to know each other and talk.
Also in central KZ it called Qaitarma
Thank you for this video ❤️
Thank you very much, you are a good person. Always welcome to Kazakhstan
Muchísimas gracias, increíble y útil video
Awesome! Great explanation!
I hate when you're forced to give a speech ugh gives me so musch anxiety
but it's a requirment, i guess, you can only avoid it if you're not a relative or close friend, if you're a child or if there are a lot of guests
so in a sense, if you were required to give a speech, means you are important person to this wedding c:
you also attended both uzatu and toy! i never got to go to both weddings (it's ok to go to only one of those depending on what side do you belong to, bride or groom, if you're not super close, so one wedding was always more than enough for me thank you very much 😅😅😅)
Hi, we all support you from Kazakhstan
