Yeah honestly you are right. I get that his story is done but that doesn't mean Sega has to put him on the back burner so heavily. He should get his own game or a more important role in the next game in my opinion because his personality and abilities could be very fun and very useful in the series.

I heard a different RUclipsr bring up info that the clothes that Maddie wears in each Sonic film installment hints on who would be entering the SCU next, by in the first movie she wore a shirt that matches the color of Tails' fur and he got teased in that movie's mid-credits scene, then in the second movie she wore a red shirt with a black jacket that match Shadow's furr colors, and he got teased for the Sonic 3 movie. She was next shown wearing a pink shirt in the Knuckles show hinting that Amy could possibly be in that movie too. Along with her wearing in a different scene a pair of clothes that have colors that match the color of Silver's furr and the auqua green color that is on parts of his own clothes, so he might appear in that third movie's mid-credits scene. Along with the fact that that RUclipsr released a video about which Sonic games that Sega is allowing Paramount to adapt copyrighted source material from into these movies, and the list that got shown in that video has Sonic 06 written on it as one of the games that are allowed to be adapted by that studio. So if Silver does appear in the movies then I think that it's possible that he might get made playable in future Sonic games. I hope that I'm right about this possibility because in these recent years Silver became my third favorite Sonic character beside Sonic and Shadow, so I want him to be treated better by Sega in the future.
Ohhhh I haven't heard that theory but I really hope its true. Ngl as an Amy fan I would be super excited to see her in the movies too but seeing Silver come as well would be so cool. I think he would be a great addition to the movie cast as well honestly. I also think that you are correct and that him being in the movies could open up more opportunities for him to be important in the games as well which I hope happens.

His telepathy would definitly be entertaining to be seen on the big screen, especially by them showing it with the type of hyper-realistic CGI that they use to make the Sonic characters be visible in those movies and for any special effects.
I see Silver Support, I go to it! He’s my favorite character and I want more games with him. Major role games. But at least we get more in IDW now. During the Metal Virus arc, Silver was the key to stopping it. He even went Super (first time in 14 years)! Hopefully, with him hanging out in the past for now, someone will give him a real story.
I am really glad to see him in the comics and I think they did a great job giving him the spotlight but he definitely needs his spotlight in the games too. I also think he should get his OWN game but that might be asking for too much right now lol

Great video man. I feel that after Sonic 06 Sega decided to cut most of Sonic’s friends which caused many like Silver and Team Chaotix to lose relevance and importance to the story. And unlike Shadow he was in a widely beloved character in SA2 onward. Along with having story importance in SA2, Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and 06. While Silver had only one game to make an impression on fans. Which obviously didn’t work. It’s sad though I like Silver, but Sega never gives him a shot.
Yeah exactly it kinda feels unfair cause Silver never got the same chance that Shadow did. Cutting off Sonic's friends is understandable somewhat cause there are a lot of them but I feel like the way they did it was a little distasteful in regards to Team Chaotix and Silver especially. I hope they give Silver the proper chance he deserves cause people clearly like him but they are kinda just using him as filler. Also wouldn't mind Team Chaotix coming back too I used to love Espio as a kid lol
Tbh due to silver's relation to time I always imagined him being related in some way to little planet and the time stones from CD as it has the idea of preventing a bad future which is something silver does in 06 so a game with silver venturing on little planet going through different eras in time would be a good story idea as it still involves time and we could also learn more about silver, little planet, and what the true power of the time stones are while getting a good look of what little planet looks like in 3d Sorry for the wall of text
That might be one of the greatest ideas I have ever seen for a Sonic game by a fan you need to work for Sega or something. Also dw about the wall it is a pleasure to read such a banger idea I really hope Sega makes a game like that or at least some type of animated movie or something about it
@@twagsak23 thank you I don't really put ideas out there silver is one my favourite characters with sonic CD being one of my favorite 2D sonic games so to me this is the perfect way to bring silver and little planet back especially as the time stones would bring a new sense of mysteriousness considering as we basically see the emeralds all the time while also already knowing what the phantom ruby and super emeralds are

To be fair the only mainline game where he is playable is 06 if I remember correctly so there isn't much of him out there which definitely is a shame. I would love to see him come back as well because he genuinely deserves it. I hope next game he is playable and you are able to get to use him
Blaze also needs that treatment man. It sucks most people only remember her in 06 and not her Rush rendition. She's basically a closed off princess from an alternate dimension who learns to open up and trust people more. Oh did I mention she also has a super form that Sega does nothing with?
He would be perfect for an action rpg genre, maybe metroidvania, he starts weak like in 06 but you start to level up and buy upgrades for him, superhero style. Leaving him unused is almost criminal. He would fit perfectly on a frontiers gameplay.

Sadly either he comes back in time again. Or he stays on the past. Otherwise he just can't show up with the rest of the cast. His own title set in the future could work. It's really sad to see my boy Silver get panned on from the beginning. I think Sega is to be blamed for this because they rushed Sonic 06 out of the oven and sold it off as a half baked product (even though it's in my top 5 Sonic games list despite it's problems). Recent games haven't done Silver justice by not acknowledging him as THE third hedgehog in the SSS trio from what I seen and heard, but rather another one of Sonic's friends. He's way more than that in my eyes, Silver is a hero, a survivor from a doomed world who wants to bring peace and restore the world to it's former glory. He went through an arc that shows that he's good intentioned but didn't have proper guidelines into questioning his actions until Amy and Shadow lecture him and knock some sense into him. Yeah he's a fish out of water in Sonic's timeline, but it makes his character so interesting to see how he reacts to the peaceful and colorful life Sonic and the gang live in. I like to think of Silver as the hopeful Sonic version of Raven from Teen Titans where both come from a doomed world and both try to do what they can to be heroes and learn how to be more like everyone else in the peaceful world around them. However, there might be a hint of that in the IDW comics (even though I haven't read any) but he's too much of a happy go lucky dork from what I seen. There may be hints of his old self sure, but not enough for my personal liking. It would be really cool to see Silver play a major role in the story again as well as him being playable again because he has potential but Sega just doesn't think highly of Silver, despite the recent notice of fan reactions.
Silver is my favorite character so i really wish Sega would do more with him. As we know, whenever Sonic’s timeline gets messed up Silver’s timeline gets messed up too (like when eggman took over the world in forces silver went back to help fix it, and the metal virus arc in idw, etc) so there is potential to make an amazing story using that. Obviously, Silver should play a major role in it like he did in 06. I am tired of Silver getting pushed to the side🥲

Yeah I think it would be great if they kinda redid the same idea but this time gave the dev team the proper time and resources to make the game properly.
what sucks more is that at the end of the silver campaign in the game is there was no happy ending for silver his world was still ruined and blaze his only close friend had died, they could have made an aftermath game to show silvers new adventures solo either in a ruined time or fixed city but they just left it after blazes death and played happy music to celebrate🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love silver but i can't really see a way to fit him in the story, a huge hurdle with his character is he's tied to being a time traveler from the future, like in the way that he's always directly associated with it (i dont read em, but i've seen silver appear in the comics a couple times and its always something to do with time travel). Trunks is the son of two pretty major characters, he's the best buddy to both of the main character's sons AND he has an actual presence aside from his future self, he has a reason to be there aside from just future business. Silver doesn't, there isn't a natural reason for silver to be in sonic's story, like how he was in generations i always found it weird that silver was there, but at the same time your buddie's birthday is a pretty good reason to show up, but see with silver it always has to be an occasion. He still can appear in stories, like how in forces he had an appearance because it was a pretty dire situation, or he could be helping just because he's a good guy, but then at that point his time travel trait becomes pointless and silver becomes less special because of it, i honestly think silver has the trickiest situation in the whole sonic cast I think that they probably could do some great things with that idea in mind though, treat silver like the special character he is, y'know the problem must be pretty serious if a guy from the future shows up, or maybe it could be the reverse, maybe taking the idea of trunks, silver goes back to bring his friends to the future to help because he isn't sure if he can do it himself, hell if they really wanted to they could just have silver be the chaporean for all of the anniversary games and stuff, oh sonic has to deal with some weird time eating monster or red time travel rock? good thing he's got his buddy sivler, i was just going to keep going on and on here but i can see how much i've typed already and i think you kind of get the idea already lol
I like how detailed your response was and honestly you are correct. They did put him in a tricky situation with the time travel stuff but there are definite ways to still incorporate him into the story. Like you mentioned with the birthday stuff in generations and the battle against infinite in forces. I also think it would be a cool idea for him to be playable in his own game where it takes place in the future and we get to play as Silver and defeat whatever enemy Sega decides to make up. That would probably be the perfect scenario for a Silver game like how they did with Shadow. I think that the time travel thing is definitely holding him back a little but knowing Sega they can make a way to make him relevant again.
@@twagsak23 im not sure if sega or sonic team would take the risk of making a silver game, but i think it would probably be the best case scenario, something i was even thinking is that maybe they could give a proper silver origin game since in 06 everything got erased, maybe it could be like silver is trying to alter time somehow but keeps screwing up or something and he learns some deep message by the end, i think it would certainly be cool, maybe if they really want to go all balls to the wall crazy with a silver game they could have silver face off against enemies from other timelines again kind of like what trunks did, which could have us see silver dealing with "bad futures" from previous games maybe, another possibility with this is they could probably have silver face off against like evil versions of the characters we know, or it could just be him getting help from alternate ones like generations i guess, anyway, comment too long again, the end
I feel like the absolute main thing as to why Silver isn't prevalent is he's not that marketable. ¿Think of it like this, what would sell better; A box with Sonic, Shadow, and Silver... Or a box with just Sonic and Shadow. I think Sega struck gold with Shadow being the perfect character to pair up with Sonic which leaves Silver feeling like he's just the third hedgehog.
It's difficult being someone who's favorite Sonic character is Silver. I got into Sonic from the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series, so my first impression of Silver was that game. I didn't have an XBox 360 or PS3, so I just watched his cutscenes on RUclips. So I didn't have a bad first impression of his boss battle or unfinished gameplay. I see some people say that Blaze (my 2nd favorite) and Silver being in another dimension or time makes it hard to bring them in, and to that I say.....they are writers. They can control the game's world. If they don't have a justification for how to team up, then make one!
You are SO right. Yeah they are in a different timeline and stuff but they made it to the normal one before so why can't they again? On top of that, Silver is STILL present in the series even as recently as in Sonic Forces so clearly they have ways of making them appear in the series again. I am sure there is a way they could make it so that Blaze and Silver are able to appear in a bunch of unique ways story wise but they just decide to not for some reason and it is really unfortunate.
@@twagsak23I think it's mainly from Sega seeing the mistakes of 06 is wanting to get as far away as possible. Completely changing the tone, gameplay, and use of characters (it's a miracle they still use Silver in any form) As a game designer, Sonic 06 is my favorite game not for what it is, but for what it could have been. Even if the game is crude, I see the passion that was behind it that got lost to deadlines and executive meddling. There's a quote about the game I heard online that explains how I feel about Sonic 06: Sonic 07 would have been amazing
@@gamemaster2819 I honestly think that's what they are doing which makes sense for most companies but I think that Sega is in a different position. The Sonic fanbase is EXTREMELY passionate and regardless of if some of the games are bad, they always love the characters and stories and stuff. Sega still has fans of Silver that are very open about it and I think that the hate for Sonic 06 has died down enough for them to stop running away from it. I also agree with your take on Sonic 06 as well. One thing I tell people is that Sonic 06 is one of my favorite Sonic games because I also see the passion behind it and I can still have fun with the game despite its technical mishaps. That quote hits extremely hard because it is so true and Sonic 06 isn't the only game to experience something like that within the series which is very sad because I think games like 06 and Sonic Boom could have been a lot better if they were given the time and resources they needed and deserved.

Silver is one of my favorite characters and everybody disses him for minor things that they don't even take the time and look at. like 1 "oh shadow beat silver in a fight, look he round house kicked him". dude. first of all in both cutscenes is both stories we can see that silver and shadow are OUT OF BREATH. meaning they were close in terms of power. also in Silver's fight Shadow HAD to go Chaos mode to prevent him from getting grabbed. 2 "Oh Silver is so weak he lost to infinite." Name one other character at the time of the battle to beat Infinite. Not Sonic Nor Shadow, Even after the fight between sonic and Infinite we STILL LOSE. Infinite kicks Sonic off of the path and that counts as a loss Silver is the only character seen to actually go head to head with infinite and actually LIVE besides Sonic. "He is so slow, not as fast as Shadow or Sonic." Ok let me put it in simple terms, Silver's partners are both Amy and Blaze. If Blaze doesn't send of red flags then Amy should. Amy can keep up with Sonic almost SURPASSING him in terms of speed when determined to catch him. One of the many reasons why Sonic was so afraid of her. AND BLAZE IS JUST SONIC FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION. Silver can keep up with both of them, and you know what He has surpassed sonic in speed as well. Sonic rivals silver would win races. SONIC GENERATIONS he would be faster than sonic WHEN FLYING. as well as running with sonic on foot on the 3ds version.

I don't know if I would necessarily say that cause Sonic is always relevant which makes sense but Shadow and Silver both deserve better imo. The year of Shadow thing is a good step and Shadow does appear a bit frequently in the series but they need one for Silver too because he is in dire need of relevance. I do think they can handle all 3 of them better in the games though story wise.

Ohhhhh yes I understand what you are saying more now. I agree with the frontiers thing because I genuinely think thats the best version of Sonic we have had so far but you are right about Shadow too. He is being pushed as this super edgy character when that just isn't how he is. The entire project Shadow story is extremely sad and extremely deep but it feels like they forgot that it exists and is the reason why Shadow is the way that he is. His development in those games really does get overshadowed and you honestly make a great point. As a Shadow fan I am glad they brought him back instead of killing him off but I wish they still kept the story he had instead of making him so one note.

Silver really did get hoe'd in his own debut. As my favorite Sonic character, I pray for a day where he's playable in a mainline Sonic game again. It's why I love the IDW comics a lot since they're able to consistently utilize characters you just flat out don't see often in the games nowadays. There are plenty of Sonic characters that can carry a standalone game on their own honestly, dudes one of the strongest characters in his universe for crying out loud!

Good vid, but I disagree on the bit about the story of '06. I always thought that Mephiles was technically telling Silver the truth but in a misleading way, because Sonic IS the Iblis trigger, as it is HIS death that causes Elise to cry, and nothing Mephiles could've done to Elise himself directly would've worked. Obviously Silver was fed a narrative that suggested Sonic was a villain that brought Iblis out of Elise deliberately for evil, which wasn't true, but I think identifying him as the trigger wasn't a lie.
That is true you are correct. I just said he was the trigger instead of Sonic because it isn't like Sonic is deliberately the trigger. Mephiles didn't lie but he basically told a false truth in a way that made Silver think Sonic was about to blow everything up when that wasn't what happened so you are correct in that aspect and I probably could have explained that more in the video instead of just dumbing it down.

While you do honestly make a great point and child you is also right, I do think we have to cut Silver SOME slack. He didn't really have any lead other than that and while the evil looking guy is probably evil, I don't fault Silver for using his only lead to try and save the future. I do think that he should have at least questioned why this crazy looking guy has pictures of Sonic on his Chaos Emerald iPhone and he should not have come back to the past guns blazing ready to kill Sonic on sight though. Except Silver had literally nothing left to lose by believing Mephiles. His world was fucked and he was shown losing faith that things would ever get better. You kinda cant do anything with Silver since 06 came and went without it feeling bad or awkwar. Hes the Trunks of verse and has the same problem which if he appears it can only mean something fucked up again. Its No Use to hate the manhog since hes badass though, but id rather him be "born" in the modern day and just be main cast.
Its crazy man, shadow is on top this year, sonic is the main character and amy is widely loved recognized yet silver is mostly irrelevant . Characters like blaze and silver have so much potential for very similar reasons actually. Sure blaze has a stronger reputation with 2 games and some genuine character but theres still so much that could be done with blaze and even more so silver so I hope they both get the time to shine someday. They don’t need a whole year like shadow but some acknowledgment by sega would really be enough for me

I have a friend that basicly hates every single other character cuz they don't deserve to be played Slow on a game named Sonic, that its suposed to be a Fast game, he's also the type that don't care about the story if its not extremely good righting
Sonic Project 2006 which is a man made PC port of Sonic ‘06 with quality of life improvements actually shows how great Silver can actually be. They just took the gameplay and addresses the parts that didn’t work including giving him a quicker means of travel in his levels. They even add in upgrades to his skills and abilities that expands his move set. The difference between Project-2006 versus Retail 2006 Silver is night and day.

When I was a kid Silver was a huge part of the cast and quickly became my favorite character, him being set up as the successor to Sonic or Shadow and his design and powers were just really cool to me. Sadly I feel like Sega are scared of using him more, because no matter what he plays like people would just make jokes about 06. He's kinda like Axl from Megaman, and even then Axl was still playable past his debut
Yeah and I agree and understand why they would be afraid but I think that instead of leaving that bad taste in our mouth by keeping Silver in 06, they should redo him and give him a chance to shut everyone up
You brought up that Mephiles obviously looks evil and show his “crystallized” form. Mephiles actually never showed that form to Silver, he kept his base Shadow form. So unless muted colors is a red flag, it would almost be like saying Shadow looks evil and shouldn’t trust him (however, he also didn’t have a mouth, so you could call that suspicious too I guess). Love the video, I love hearing a fellow Silver fan talking about Silver and brining counterpoints to gripes that have been said 😊 Really helps me realize how much Silver has fallen, and I’m pretty sad about that. Yeah honestly you are right. I get that his story is done but that doesn't mean Sega has to put him on the back burner so heavily. I heard a different RUclipsr bring up info that the clothes that Maddie wears in each Sonic film installment hints on who would be entering the SCU next, by in the first movie she wore a shirt that matches the color of Tails' fur and he got teased in that movie's mid-credits scene, then in the second movie she wore a red shirt with a black jacket that match Shadow's furr colors, and he got teased for the Sonic 3 movie. She was next shown wearing a pink shirt in the Knuckles show hinting that Amy could possibly be in that movie too. Along with her wearing in a different scene a pair of clothes that have colors that match the color of Silver's furr and the auqua green color that is on parts of his own clothes, so he might appear in that third movie's mid-credits scene. Along with the fact that that RUclipsr released a video about which Sonic games that Sega is allowing Paramount to adapt copyrighted source material from into these movies, and the list that got shown in that video has Sonic 06 written on it as one of the games that are allowed to be adapted by that studio. So if Silver does appear in the movies then I think that it's possible that he might get made playable in future Sonic games. I hope that I'm right about this possibility because in these recent years Silver became my third favorite Sonic character beside Sonic and Shadow, so I want him to be treated better by Sega in the future.
Ohhhh I haven't heard that theory but I really hope its true. Ngl as an Amy fan I would be super excited to see her in the movies too but seeing Silver come as well would be so cool. I think he would be a great addition to the movie cast as well honestly. I also think that you are correct and that him being in the movies could open up more opportunities for him to be important in the games as well which I hope happens.

But at least we get more in IDW now. During the Metal Virus arc, Silver was the key to stopping it. He even went Super (first time in 14 years)! Hopefully, with him hanging out in the past for now, someone will give him a real story.

Great video man. I feel that after Sonic 06 Sega decided to cut most of Sonic’s friends which caused many like Silver and Team Chaotix to lose relevance and importance to the story. And unlike Shadow he was in a widely beloved character in SA2 onward. Along with having story importance in SA2, Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and 06. While Silver had only one game to make an impression on fans. Which obviously didn’t work. It’s sad though I like Silver, but Sega never gives him a shot.
Yeah exactly it kinda feels unfair cause Silver never got the same chance that Shadow did. Tbh due to silver's relation to time I always imagined him being related in some way to little planet and the time stones from CD as it has the idea of preventing a bad future which is something silver does in 06 so a game with silver venturing on little planet going through different eras in time would be a good story idea as it still involves time and we could also learn more about silver, little planet, and what the true power of the time stones are while getting a good look of what little planet looks like in 3d

Blaze also needs that treatment man. It sucks most people only remember her in 06 and not her Rush rendition. She's basically a closed off princess from an alternate dimension who learns to open up and trust people more. Oh did I mention she also has a super form that Sega does nothing with?
He would be perfect for an action rpg genre, maybe metroidvania, he starts weak like in 06 but you start to level up and buy upgrades for him, superhero style. Leaving him unused is almost criminal. He would fit perfectly on a frontiers gameplay.

It's really sad to see my boy Silver get panned on from the beginning. I think Sega is to be blamed for this because they rushed Sonic 06 out of the oven and sold it off as a half baked product (even though it's in my top 5 Sonic games list despite it's problems). Recent games haven't done Silver justice by not acknowledging him as THE third hedgehog in the SSS trio from what I seen and heard, but rather another one of Sonic's friends. He's way more than that in my eyes, Silver is a hero, a survivor from a doomed world who wants to bring peace and restore the world to it's former glory.
He went through an arc that shows that he's good intentioned but didn't have proper guidelines into questioning his actions until Amy and Shadow lecture him and knock some sense into him. Yeah he's a fish out of water in Sonic's timeline, but it makes his character so interesting to see how he reacts to the peaceful and colorful life Sonic and the gang live in. I like to think of Silver as the hopeful Sonic version of Raven from Teen Titans where both come from a doomed world and both try to do what they can to be heroes and learn how to be more like everyone else in the peaceful world around them. However, there might be a hint of that in the IDW comics (even though I haven't read any) but he's too much of a happy go lucky dork from what I seen. There may be hints of his old self sure, but not enough for my personal liking.
It would be really cool to see Silver play a major role in the story again as well as him being playable again because he has potential but Sega just doesn't think highly of Silver, despite the recent notice of fan reactions.
Silver is my favorite character so i really wish Sega would do more with him. As we know, whenever Sonic’s timeline gets messed up Silver’s timeline gets messed up too (like when eggman took over the world in forces silver went back to help fix it, and the metal virus arc in idw, etc) so there is potential to make an amazing story using that. Obviously, Silver should play a major role in it like he did in 06. I am tired of Silver getting pushed to the side🥲

I love silver but i can't really see a way to fit him in the story, a huge hurdle with his character is he's tied to being a time traveler from the future, like in the way that he's always directly associated with it (i dont read em, but i've seen silver appear in the comics a couple times and its always something to do with time travel). Trunks is the son of two pretty major characters, he's the best buddy to both of the main character's sons AND he has an actual presence aside from his future self, he has a reason to be there aside from just future business. Silver doesn't, there isn't a natural reason for silver to be in sonic's story, like how he was in generations i always found it weird that silver was there, but at the same time your buddie's birthday is a pretty good reason to show up, but see with silver it always has to be an occasion.
He still can appear in stories, like how in forces he had an appearance because it was a pretty dire situation, or he could be helping just because he's a good guy, but then at that point his time travel trait becomes pointless and silver becomes less special because of it, i honestly think silver has the trickiest situation in the whole sonic cast
I think that they probably could do some great things with that idea in mind though, treat silver like the special character he is, y'know the problem must be pretty serious if a guy from the future shows up, or maybe it could be the reverse, maybe taking the idea of trunks, silver goes back to bring his friends to the future to help because he isn't sure if he can do it himself, hell if they really wanted to they could just have silver be the chaporean for all of the anniversary games and stuff, oh sonic has to deal with some weird time eating monster or red time travel rock? good thing he's got his buddy sivler, i was just going to keep going on and on here but i can see how much i've typed already and i think you kind of get the idea already lol
I like how detailed your response was and honestly you are correct. They did put him in a tricky situation with the time travel stuff but there are definite ways to still incorporate him into the story. Like you mentioned with the birthday stuff in generations and the battle against infinite in forces. I also think it would be a cool idea for him to be playable in his own game where it takes place in the future and we get to play as Silver and defeat whatever enemy Sega decides to make up. That would probably be the perfect scenario for a Silver game like how they did with Shadow. I think that the time travel thing is definitely holding him back a little but knowing Sega they can make a way to make him relevant again.
@@twagsak23 im not sure if sega or sonic team would take the risk of making a silver game, but i think it would probably be the best case scenario, something i was even thinking is that maybe they could give a proper silver origin game since in 06 everything got erased, maybe it could be like silver is trying to alter time somehow but keeps screwing up or something and he learns some deep message by the end, i think it would certainly be cool, maybe if they really want to go all balls to the wall crazy with a silver game they could have silver face off against enemies from other timelines again kind of like what trunks did, which could have us see silver dealing with "bad futures" from previous games maybe, another possibility with this is they could probably have silver face off against like evil versions of the characters we know, or it could just be him getting help from alternate ones like generations i guess, anyway, comment too long again, the end

I feel like the absolute main thing as to why Silver isn't prevalent is he's not that marketable. ¿Think of it like this, what would sell better; A box with Sonic, Shadow, and Silver... Or a box with just Sonic and Shadow. I think Sega struck gold with Shadow being the perfect character to pair up with Sonic which leaves Silver feeling like he's just the third hedgehog.

The Option To Fly Or Run Fast At Will On The Fly
It's difficult being someone who's favorite Sonic character is Silver.
I got into Sonic from the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series, so my first impression of Silver was that game. I didn't have an XBox 360 or PS3, so I just watched his cutscenes on RUclips. So I didn't have a bad first impression of his boss battle or unfinished gameplay.
I see some people say that Blaze (my 2nd favorite) and Silver being in another dimension or time makes it hard to bring them in, and to that I say.....they are writers. They can control the game's world. If they don't have a justification for how to team up, then make one!
You are SO right. Yeah they are in a different timeline and stuff but they made it to the normal one before so why can't they again? On top of that, Silver is STILL present in the series even as recently as in Sonic Forces so clearly they have ways of making them appear in the series again. I am sure there is a way they could make it so that Blaze and Silver are able to appear in a bunch of unique ways story wise but they just decide to not for some reason and it is really unfortunate.
@@twagsak23I think it's mainly from Sega seeing the mistakes of 06 is wanting to get as far away as possible. Completely changing the tone, gameplay, and use of characters (it's a miracle they still use Silver in any form)
As a game designer, Sonic 06 is my favorite game not for what it is, but for what it could have been. Even if the game is crude, I see the passion that was behind it that got lost to deadlines and executive meddling.

The Sonic fanbase is EXTREMELY passionate and regardless of if some of the games are bad, they always love the characters and stories and stuff. Sega still has fans of Silver that are very open about it and I think that the hate for Sonic 06 has died down enough for them to stop running away from it. I also agree with your take on Sonic 06 as well. One thing I tell people is that Sonic 06 is one of my favorite Sonic games because I also see the passion behind it and I can still have fun with the game despite its technical mishaps. That quote hits extremely hard because it is so true and Sonic 06 isn't the only game to experience something like that within the series which is very sad because I think games like 06 and Sonic Boom could have been a lot better if they were given the time and resources they needed and deserved.

YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT FROM MY MOUTH! Silver is one of my favorite characters and everybody disses him for minor things that they don't even take the time and look at. like 1 "oh shadow beat silver in a fight, look he round house kicked him". dude. first of all in both cutscenes is both stories we can see that silver and shadow are OUT OF BREATH. meaning they were close in terms of power. also in Silver's fight Shadow HAD to go Chaos mode to prevent him from getting grabbed. 2 "Oh Silver is so weak he lost to infinite." Name one other character at the time of the battle to beat Infinite. Not Sonic Nor Shadow, Even after the fight between sonic and Infinite we STILL LOSE. Infinite kicks Sonic off of the path and that counts as a loss Silver is the only character seen to actually go head to head with infinite and actually LIVE besides Sonic. "He is so slow, not as fast as Shadow or Sonic." Ok let me put it in simple terms, Silver's partners are both Amy and Blaze. If Blaze doesn't send of red flags then Amy should. Amy can keep up with Sonic almost SURPASSING him in terms of speed when determined to catch him. One of the many reasons why Sonic was so afraid of her. AND BLAZE IS JUST SONIC FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION. Silver can keep up with both of them, and you know what He has surpassed sonic in speed as well. Sonic rivals silver would win races. SONIC GENERATIONS he would be faster than sonic WHEN FLYING. as well as running with sonic on foot on the 3ds version.

I don't know if I would necessarily say that cause Sonic is always relevant which makes sense but Shadow and Silver both deserve better imo. The year of Shadow thing is a good step and Shadow does appear a bit frequently in the series but they need one for Silver too because he is in dire need of relevance. I do think they can handle all 3 of them better in the games though story wise.

Ohhhhh yes I understand what you are saying more now. I agree with the frontiers thing because I genuinely think thats the best version of Sonic we have had so far but you are right about Shadow too. He is being pushed as this super edgy character when that just isn't how he is. The entire project Shadow story is extremely sad and extremely deep but it feels like they forgot that it exists and is the reason why Shadow is the way that he is. His development in those games really does get overshadowed and you honestly make a great point. As a Shadow fan I am glad they brought him back instead of killing him off but I wish they still kept the story he had instead of making him so one note.

Silver really did get hoe'd in his own debut. As my favorite Sonic character, I pray for a day where he's playable in a mainline Sonic game again. It's why I love the IDW comics a lot since they're able to consistently utilize characters you just flat out don't see often in the games nowadays. There are plenty of Sonic characters that can carry a standalone game on their own honestly, dudes one of the strongest characters in his universe for crying out loud!
Yeah its really dumb that they gave him 1 chance in one of the worst Sonic games of all time and then when it failed they just put him on the sidelines. I agree that the IDW comics are great with character usage but I think Sega needs to follow in their footsteps more in that regard. Silver definitely needs his own game because it would go so hard

Good vid, but I disagree on the bit about the story of '06. I always thought that Mephiles was technically telling Silver the truth but in a misleading way, because Sonic IS the Iblis trigger, as it is HIS death that causes Elise to cry, and nothing Mephiles could've done to Elise himself directly would've worked. Obviously Silver was fed a narrative that suggested Sonic was a villain that brought Iblis out of Elise deliberately for evil, which wasn't true, but I think identifying him as the trigger wasn't a lie.
That is true you are correct. I just said he was the trigger instead of Sonic because it isn't like Sonic is deliberately the trigger. Mephiles didn't lie but he basically told a false truth in a way that made Silver think Sonic was about to blow everything up when that wasn't what happened so you are correct in that aspect and I probably could have explained that more in the video instead of just dumbing it down.
Of course shadow gets an entire year for him while silver has only ever been playable in 1 mainline game that was literally the first game he appeared in

While I love Silver, I think he's written like an absolute moron in 06. I cannot mentally reconccile with any remotely intelligent being handling the Iblis situation like Silver unless the plot just demanded they be some kind of character that didnt ask questions about anything ever in their life
While you do honestly make a great point and child you is also right, I do think we have to cut Silver SOME slack. He didn't really have any lead other than that and while the evil looking guy is probably evil, I don't fault Silver for using his only lead to try and save the future. I do think that he should have at least questioned why this crazy looking guy has pictures of Sonic on his Chaos Emerald iPhone and he should not have come back to the past guns blazing ready to kill Sonic on sight though. Silver definitely should have thought it through a little and did his own research in the past to see if what he said was true instead of spawning in ready to put Sonic on a T-Shirt
Except Silver had literally nothing left to lose by believing Mephiles. His world was fucked and he was shown losing faith that things would ever get better. If someone offered him a solution to all his problems, at that point what reason would he have to distrust them?

Right before they meet Mephiles, Silver starts losing hope, so if nothing else has worked as long as he’s been alive and even before, and he desperately wants to save his world, he’s gonna follow the only seeming way to do so. He asked what they should do, and Mephiles barged in with an answer
It's really sad to see silver being just a background character but i still believe that one day he will get recognized maybe being introduced in the movie universe would help.

You kinda cant do anything with Silver since 06 came and went without it feeling bad or awkwar. Hes the Trunks of verse and has the same problem which if he appears it can only mean something fucked up again. Its No Use to hate the manhog since hes badass though, but id rather him be "born" in the modern day and just be main cast.
I also hope Silver gets more relevance in the franchise soon. He and Sonic are tied for my favorite character.

Its crazy man, shadow is on top this year, sonic is the main character and amy is widely loved recognized yet silver is mostly irrelevant . Characters like blaze and silver have so much potential for very similar reasons actually. Sure blaze has a stronger reputation with 2 games and some genuine character but theres still so much that could be done with blaze and even more so silver so I hope they both get the time to shine someday. They don’t need a whole year like shadow but some acknowledgment by sega would really be enough for me

I have a friend that basicly hates every single other character cuz they don't deserve to be played Slow on a game named Sonic, that its suposed to be a Fast game, he's also the type that don't care about the story if its not extremely good righting
Sonic Project 2006 which is a man made PC port of Sonic ‘06 with quality of life improvements actually shows how great Silver can actually be. They just took the gameplay and addresses the parts that didn’t work including giving him a quicker means of travel in his levels. They even add in upgrades to his skills and abilities that expands his move set.
The difference between Project-2006 versus Retail 2006 Silver is night and day.

I both love and hate Silver. He’s a basic, simple but great concept for a character, his whole premise is cool, his design is cool, his powers are cool, but he’s been done dirty with bad writing and bad game design that doesn’t give him a good look
Silver is the story where if trunks stayed in the past with goku and instead of going back to future hindsight’s future trunks woulda have just been a filler character like silver

When I was a kid Silver was a huge part of the cast and quickly became my favorite character, him being set up as the successor to Sonic or Shadow and his design and powers were just really cool to me. Sadly I feel like Sega are scared of using him more, because no matter what he plays like people would just make jokes about 06.
He's kinda like Axl from Megaman, and even then Axl was still playable past his debut

You brought up that Mephiles obviously looks evil and show his “crystallized” form. Mephiles actually never showed that form to Silver, he kept his base Shadow form. So unless muted colors is a red flag, it would almost be like saying Shadow looks evil and shouldn’t trust him (however, he also didn’t have a mouth, so you could call that suspicious too I guess).
Love the video, I love hearing a fellow Silver fan talking about Silver and brining counterpoints to gripes that have been said 😊 Really helps me realize how much Silver has fallen, and I’m pretty sad about that. I hope he’s able to shine again someday 🥲
