Mel, your panel is going to stop blind shading for Lebron (lol) because that 2008 Boston Celtics squad was NOT a superteam. Let me get on my bully pulpit right quick: Kevin Garnett - 5th pick in his draft class (1995) Ray Allen - 5th pick in the draft (1996) Paul Pierce - 10th pick in his draft. (1998) Lebron formed a team that had 3 Top 5 draft picks in the same draft class. It was NEVER done before him! He was the VERY first superteam creator. Lebron James - 1st pick in the draft (2003) Chris Bosh - 4th pick in the draft (2003) Dwayne Wade - 5th pick in the draft (2003) AND on top of that, he wanted Melo, the 4th pick in that same draft class, to play with them in Miami. Sad...(I know I'm only stating the obvious here, but bear with me) It's been established a superteam consists of multiple Top 1-5 players originally set up to lead their own respective NBA franchise. Don't mistaken Paul Pierce's come-up as an excuse to call them that because when Paul was drafted, he came to a team that had Antoine Walker already taking the reigns of that franchise with multiple veterans already playing above Paul Pierce's level. He was NOT the guy running the Celtics, unlike Bosh, Wade and Lebron from Day 1...who ALL had their own teams. Not even Golden State technically could be considered a superteam WITH KD!! And let's look at their draft selections: Steph Curry - 7th pick in the draft (2009) Klay Thompson - 11th pick in the draft (2011) Draymond Green - 35th pick in the draft (2012) If that was their Big 3, where is the "SUPER" in this line-up? KD came out of the 2007 draft at #2 so he was the only Top 5 player Golden State even had since drafting Curry. As a matter of fact, Curry and Harrison Barnes were both drafted as 7th picks. They were the only 2 to have that success together as teammates. So whoever calls them a superteam is being funny. So, the argument can only be one or the other: Draft position (players anointed to LEAD an NBA team from the beginning of their careers or slides into that spot after Season 1 based on performance) or All-Star Appearances before team creation (level of stardom acquired to before said team is created) Either or, people will constantly move the goalpost to make their arguments for what a superteam is.
