Calby is such a humble gentle man this area is so beautiful and peaceful and a simple life is the better life I come to find out in life so far, its.not money that makes you rich it's just being at peace with the beauty and family love around you that's gives the biggest rewards.
Now if we could only get all Jamaicans to appreciate what we have, instead of doing everything to wreck it. Sigh. I'm keeping hope alive though. Hopefully one day we will all come to appreciate this piece of paradise on earth.

I grew up in St. Ann and of course, go back to visit often. I knew about White River (used to be a huge Reggae Festival by it annually), but have never "toured" it or been on it. I knew about Ras Calby in your "10 Things I Love About Jamaica", but didn't know it was located on White River. So, loving this video. I'm not a "Camper", but one day I will do a day trek to Ras Calby's Hidden Beauty...to just check it out and to do some Tubing. Thanks again Irina for highlighting our Beautiful Island "Hidden Gems"

I went to Calbys after seeing this video, and have to say, it doesn't disappoint! It is a magical, beautiful, lush place hidden in the rainforest. It is definitely worth the drive. 100% recommend

The same man 👨 who he is talking about named Melvin, that place where he bought out by Richmond and Land dovery .I know when that place was the sugar estate, before it was closed down. Then Melvin bought some of the lands and called it Checka Cove,where he useto rides Polo races 🏁 out there. I useto go by Richmond where the sugar estate, besides the river. There is a nice playground ,I useto ran in the all Baptist churches competitions out there as a little boy 👦. I heard 👂 that playfield is currently used by a little district name mines.That playground is on the same hand going towards Priory,where they built that building useto named northern industrial garage. I don't know what they are doing with now,because I haven't been into that area since 2016.I was talking about the same playground, and someone took me on. I told the person I was born in St, Ann on the north coast, and I am almost 70years and. Let him know that where the road is now, I know when the road was only moved in the 1970s. That piece of road ganja planes useto land 👌 there, before the road was properly opened. The government let them planted some train lines rails in the ground, preventing the planes them from landing on the road,before it was opened. I also heard someone was saying that is them started, to ride the horses 🐎 in the sea and. That is not true at all, I born see people been riding horses in the sea at Runaway by the free beach ⛱ and. The property them useto used the sea to backed their young horses 🐎, because the young horses 🐎 is very hard to trained. So the Whiteman named Peter Plagrove,he useto own Caddihall and. He useto backed the houses in the sea,until people useto sell the Runaway Bay hotel tourist horse 🐎 rides.I useto go by the beach and watch them rides the horses 🐎 in the sea.Anybody is from Runaway Bay can tell you about those days, if they are old enough to know about those days.

Yup, that's how most Jamaican boys learn to swim. We get thrown off in the deep end and told, "dog paddle, dog paddle". I love the calm livity of Sir Ras Calby. When I visited the location I did not get to meet him, but it was a blast. I have a large wood carving as my Bedhead, it is absolutely beautiful.
Irene asked Calby if he has any problem as a dread in Jamaica he replied 'when you are brown you get around'. This shows the depth of prejudice in Jamaica.
