New subscriber. Thankful your video popped up in my algorithm. Love gardening. I just told my grandson we’re going to start an herb/vegetable bed. I recently moved in with my daughter because they wanted me to not be alone. I lost the love of my life,their father this past September. I’ve always had a beautiful flower garden. Now my daughter wants me to upgrade her yard🤣. Can’t wait to see your garden grow.

This was a reminder for me to keep saying no to my children about getting a dog. I wouldn’t know what to do if my garden was destroyed. I already battle one squirrel who is just relentless in my garden.

I understand Ms. Helen. The bunnies DESTROYED my gardens earlier in the season i quit for a few weeks. And my neighbor came thru with the bunny control and my garden is coming back and im so grateful i didnt throw the towel all the way in. Enjoy the reality of your videos!!!

Sis, if you have an iPhone you can take a picture of any plant you dont know what it is, a plant looking icon will pop up, you can click on it and it will tell you what the plant is. Just an fyi if you weren’t familiar with that feature

I definitely can relate to the fur baby digging and destroying but you are so right. We have to keep going because this is a journey. I’m at the same point you are, whatever is going to to grow will grow but we are not giving up.
I had a garden buddy that loved to dig up my carrots and eat my strawberry and pumpkins. He was a good boy and could frustrated me and make me laugh. Hes done passed and i do miss his happy silly dog self. Im sure your fur baby thought he was doing something good hopefully he will behave now youve went out and straightened up. He got you back out in the garden so its a mess that turned in to a small blessing.

Helen I am so sorry about your garden. I know how much it means to you and your family. I always admire how dedicated you were to Your garden. During the pandemic I planted a lot of vegetable seeds in pots in a planter that my husband made for me. A lot of them were seeds from the DT and I was excited to see a lot of growth. However at one point I realize they weren’t vegetables. They had very thick roots. I used a vegetable identifier and it was some strange weed plant from the Midwest and I live in California
Oh my goodness.. I have heard people say that sometimes those seeds aren't actually vegetables. I know what most seeds look like so I always look before I plant them. Wow that's wild

Hi Helen it's my first time seeing your video I was just thinking because it's so hot in Texas why not just put a cover so your soil doesn't get dried out and ruined for the summer. then garden and fall and spring. Lots of people in Arizona does this. Use the summer as family get-togethers if you don't have a pool put one in even if it's a doughboy relax and enjoy the heat but don't work so hard and your vegetables yell will be so high during fall and spring 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
Sorry to hear about the garden being destroyed by Journey. Hearing everything that she did I believe that she is bored. The type of dog that she is requires a lot of exercise. She doesn't like being locked in the cage. I understand this because I have a young dog that stays in the house but gets mad when I lock her up, Your suggestion about taking her to the farm is a good idea. She can run around until her heart is content. I also would like to suggest that when you and Penny go walking that you might take Journey for the walk. This would probably help with the exercise and make her tired. This is just a suggestion.

Helen have you tried Diatomaceous Earth for the bugs? I use it indoors and outdoors because it's a food grade safe product.
Yes I have. The problem is that the rain kept coming and we had horrible storms thos month and last month. I just said I'm putting it out today. No rain in the forecast so I'm clear to treat everything.

I haven't started a garden yet but I was able to start tending to my indoor plants and they are starting to thrive! I was going to say I'm sorry that your puppy (i still call my 12yr puppy) tore up your yard, but then I thought about the possibility that you can have even more than you had before...my wish for you! Helen, I’m so sorry! Journey will probably out grow this once she gets more mature. I am wondering however, if she sees you and your family digging and is imitating you. I bring this up because there is a squirrel that likes to dig right along side me when he/she sees me doing so.
Please keep your spirit high and don’t let this get the best of you. As I have said before, this has been a trying gardening season thus far. ❤

Oh yea..I can see that. We are always in the dirt. She is usually out there with us. We tell her no and she usually doesn't even go over there. My son said she could have seen worms or the garden snakes.

As pretty as Journey is; It’s hard to believe she’s so manish. ☺️ Helen, I planted 12 rows of seeds on Good Friday, only 3 rows produced something. I can relate to the frustration. I don’t hve the energy to start over, I’ll just wait till Fall.

Journey was just trying to help out, she knew the soil was missing something so she tore it up so that you could fix it, and it will be more bountiful when it regrows.

It can be the smell of your fertilizer. I started using blood meal and bone meal fertilizer last year and as I remember in the morning the garden was always dugged by some kind of animal or critter (never found out what) It was until mid May I planted my seedlings and in the hole added blood meal and bone meal fertilizer. A couple of days later all that area of the garden was dugged out and seedlings destroyed. That when I realized that it was the fertilizer attracting the dogs or other critters to the garden. I stopped using it no digging and no problem so far.
Helen, I think your decision to take your tomato plants out of your towers is a good decision. Tomato roots require a lot of room to grow, which could be the reason why some of your other plants have not done as well in the towers. I wish you much success with your fall planting. I’m still trying to get my garden planted; however I’m in zone 6.

l hardly ever comment but l always been intrigued by your gardening. I planted Lemon cucumber from The Dollar Tree because of you. Girl,l was so happy when l saw my first cucumber l was like Oh my God, Helen l grew cucumbers. 😂 They're still producing. l also grew lettuce. Every year l grow beautiful flowers bu not vert successful when it came to food. My pepper and green beans came up and are growing. You have put me on to seeds from Dollar Tree and l have had more success with the seeds than buying plants from Home Depot and Lowes .

We had a puppy do this ...I let that slide..lol....she started chewing on my fruit trees that were just starting to fruit...bruh...she had to be rehomed...with the quickness....I was heated!..3 dogs left ..N i had THE talk with them all!

I did the round (that looks like a baby pumpkin)and patty pan zucchini /squash in my towers last season and they did amazing! 💜. I’m thinking about reworking my beds and just gardening along side the fences to open up my yard more. Right now I have raised beds all smack dab in the middle of my small yard.too busy and too crowded!! Poor Ms. Journey.I’m going to be praying for her and that destructive digging spirit!
