@wheat636 - Chicken feet are great for pups, just make sure you supervise your pup. Also, they type of skin on feet is somewhat different than the skin on wings. I don't think you would have an issue with loose poo, but that's always a possibility, especially with a newly introduced food.
@twistyness Raw pork is approx 1,000 calories per pound. There is not much calories in chicken feet. It is mostly cartilage and small bone. The calories come from the skin. I would say they serve as a snack more then a meal since there is little calories in chicken feet, like a human eating a celery stick or carrot. Vitamins and minerals but not much calories.
@sanfranciscobay - We tend not to worry about calories. There is no need to get too technical when feeding dogs. We just feed a bunch of meat, bone, organ, and watch the dog's waistline until we pinpoint the right amount of food per meal for each individual dog. And by watching a dog's poop, you can figure out the ratio of meat to bone to organ that your dog does best on per meal. Would I feed chicken feet for a week? No. But I have fed them as meals 2 or 3 times consecutively at most.
@PinkSander - Not at all, feed whatever goodies you can get your hands on. It may just take some trial and error with possible loose poo problems. You will figure out how to adjust things pretty quickly. If you are going to feed both kibble and RAW, I would recommend that you feed the RAW meals separate (rather than just adding raw items to kibble meals), since they digest at different rates, etc.
@twistyness - I feed them as a snack or treat, or as the bone portion of a meal. Although when I forget to thaw out food on time, I'll break open a bag of frozen chicken feet and give a few to each dog to hold them over until the next meal.
Mary Smith Grab some raw chicken and boil up some salt free broth... pour the broth into his meal or simplymix a few ounces in his drinking water. They love it
Do you have to do anything to the raw pastured chicken feet before giving them to your dog, i.e. - wash/clean, thaw, etc.? Is it safe for them to eat the nails?
@PeanutButterGtr It depends on where you buy it. And if you buy lots of meat and freeze it you don't have to go and buy more meat every single month. That saves alot.
@sanfranciscobay - It's important to note that chicken feet wouldn't be feed as consecutive meals, short or long term, because of their bone content, not lack of calories. A piece of meat will obviously have more calories than a chicken foot. But feeding too much bone, without any "substance", has the potential of causing your dog some harm.
@rawbasics I plan on feeding a high end kibble, and supplementing in Raw as treats. Is there anything that just should not be feed unless it's with a full Raw diet? In my area, you can get Chicken feet, necks, backs and giblets at the normal grocery story, you just have to ask for the feet, necks and backs. I would love to feed Full Raw, but my budget wont allow it.
Are chicken feet OK for puppies under 6 months to eat? My puppy had a chicken wing with skin on it and had diarrhea problems because of the fat content. Any thoughts on whether feet would be any better?
HI, I NEED YOUR HELP, CAN YOU TELL ME WHATS YOUR DOG DIET , I WHAT ELSE DO YOU FEED IT , I HAVE A HUSKY IS 6 MONTH AND WEIGHT 20 KG , TO ME LOOK TO SLIM
My dog likes to crunch them too. Question: Can anyone estimate the dose of glucosamine in a chicken foot? My dog gets 500mg doses of glucosamine pills (wrapped in small pieces of sandwich meat) 2x/day. I'd like to switch partially or completely, to giving her a chicken foot or two. Anyone have any idea?
if i'm reading correctly, your dog ate cooked bones? that is VERY dangerous as the bone can splinter. raw is fine. but if your dog is vomiting blood i would take him to the vet.
Thanks it was about a month ago, now he is fine and yeah it was boil chicken, since then I am giving boneless. So raw met I can give him right? Its a 6 month Rott.
i live in namibia and chicken feet are raw here where i live. i looked for months and by chance they sold them at the super market near me. i suggest that because they arnt so common you should buy them in bulk if you can and maybe you will get lucky

This is humanity❤
Chicken feet are also a good natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin, and are great for arthritic dogs!
how is your dog doing?

is it true that chicken feet are a good all natural joint supplement for dogs?
*Better than Human Feets ;)*

Typically 1-1.5 lbs twice per day. Sometimes 2-3 lbs at a clip, skipping the next meal. Just depends on what I remembered (or forgot) to thaw out ;)

I just gave this to my rottweiler for the first time yesterday. I read you can make excellent chicken stock from the feet as well.
No you have to give it to them RAW. Never give cooked chicken, that makes it brittle and they can choke. :)
No problem. You can give it to them frozen too, as long as it's not cooked. :)
Dont feed cooked bones to your dog
I know that. They are RAW.
Mary Smith Grab some raw chicken and boil up some salt free broth... pour the broth into his meal or simplymix a few ounces in his drinking water. They love it

At what age should I start feeding this to a puppy of Tiberian mastiff?
What a good dog
I love very much to feed my dog🐶 and dog is the best animal in the world🐕
Hi! What is the ration of raw food to dog's weight?
2 to 3% of there weight.
80:10:10 80% meat 10%bone 10%organ
:)
Omg, I dunno if i enjoyed that more than the dog! Thanks :) Ok, I know this won't sound right, but I love watching a dog gnaw on a bone... =))

Do we take off nails ? or it is safe ?
Amit Srivastava you can leave them on or off. I choose to snip them off as they can be very sharp sometimes.

My dogs love chicken feet and heads. So cheap to buy from chicken farms.
RTILA NASRO absolutely do not cook it. Cooking will make it brittle and may harm your dog.
Raw Dog Food Master Just avoid cooking them because they splinter and destroy the dog’s insides
Do you feed chicken feet as more of a snack, or do they stand alone as a meal? Just curious! Regardless, look at those chicken feet disappear! Wow.
Do you give glucosamine for a specific reason, or just as a precaution? And what type of dog?
Aske if dogs can attack chickens to eat ?
Crunch Crunch Crunch. LOL
wow that dog living good life .....lololol
I enjoy chicken feet as well. This pooch has good taste.

+Gauranga Kalita Raw meat and bones is fine and good for them
+Gauranga Kalita Yeah NEVER give cooked bones of any sort, especially chicken. RAW go right ahead it's very good for them.
+Gauranga Kalita only ever give dogs raw bones. cooked bones are extremely dangerous as they will splinter and the dog bites through them.

@latinevil666 no :D

crunch lol
Do they need to be cooked at all?
no, never feed any animal cooked bones. Cooked bones become dry and brittle, they will splinter and make risk for cut insides.
LITRALLY, if you didn't cook the feet the dog will become infected with worms
Osama Ibrahim Hafez They will not get worms. As I said before NEVER feed a animal COOKED bones!
aiden l Dogs cannot eat cooked bones because they tear open their insides and it's not healthy...
