    I'd like to thank you for this video. My wife's 400 it was dying on me like yours was, after only a few miles. After watching your video I determined it was the same problem. My rectifier. Only thing was your video is the only one up that shows or tells you anything about the charging issue. Between your video and another RUclipsrs video, where he took the whole front end off. I was able to locate where the rectifier was on this one. I diagnostic and replaced it, and it is now charging up to 14 plus. Once again thanks for your video showing me what my problem could be...

      Was your rectifier upside down like Crohnie Biker. My Burgman 400 is flat on a Brand new battery so appears not to be charging so Ill now check it to see if it is defective. Just curious if they are all this way with the rectifier position? TIA

    Thanks for this. I suspect the 250 circular bought has the same problem. I had no idea where the reg/rec was. Now I feel I can tackle the job myself. You might have saved me a fair wedge of cash.

    Just a tip for you, I have the same scooter, and I replaced the old lead sealed acid battery with a gel battery, because sealed acid battery can’t work better in 90 degree position like our scooter. Gel battery maintain around 13 volts instead of sealed battery 12,7

    Great video. Consider bying a 250 for a bargain price. Why did you not connect the USB charger via ignition? Would work while driving, and no need for switching of.

    • @Crohniebiker

      Thanks for watching, usb was originally on a switch so I could have things charging while away from bike ,locked in glove box. But I did end up changing it to ignition in the end .

    No. It was attached to the right side as you remove the front headlight bearing or bracket. But that's on my wife's 400. The rectifier she had the wires were attached to the rectifier and could not be unplugged I believe they make two types one where you can unplug the wires directly from the rectifier oh, and the other is attached to the rectifier where you at unplug it from somewhere else

    Exactly what's happened to my peugeot citystar 200 scoot,
    I cut out in dovedale,
    Thankfully a family member fetched me a spare battery from home which had enough juice to get me home,
    Ordered a new battery and regulator the other day,

    Is it okay to have the battery in lay down position like this all the time? I had battery problems and my mechanic told me it's slowly depleting due to its position. However, I keep seeing more and more Burgmans where the battery is always laying down. On the other hand, when I think about it, my scooter also has an installed alarm system which may be draining the battery (IMO). Please advise.

    • @Crohniebiker
      @Crohniebiker  3 года назад +1

      Lots of manufacturers are now mounting their batterys laying flat nowadays this is fine due to their AGM "absorbant glass matt" construction so don't worry, if it was wrong they wouldn't be doing it .thanks for watching 👀

      @@Crohniebiker Thank you for the fast reply! "Laying flat" in this case meaning it's laying down as yours is shown on the video, correct?

      I think you can just about get access to the regulator if you remove the trim below the screen but it is tight 👍

    • @Stonefxwalls

      I STRIPPED all of the front off..... I can't actually find a rectifier. (Not like the video) . There is a 5x4x1 inch black box under the screen Area but it's bigger than one I searched on line?????.

      Hi thanks for watching. I got the usb socket from ebay for about £6 its just a case of drilling a hole somewhere suitable then you can just run the black wire to the negative on the battery and the red wire to the positive terminal on the battery. I put a switch inline of the red wire but that is not essential. Hope this helps .

    I have an older Burgman 250cc from 2002 - is it possible to turn off the clock completely? I have this feeling it's slowly draining the battery when I'm not riding the scooter since it's turned on at all times.

    • @Crohniebiker
      @Crohniebiker  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching, I doubt that the clock would be enough to flatten the battery 🔋 ,just think how long a wristwatch lasts on a tiny battery.
      I would get your battery checked first 👍

      @@Crohniebiker Thanks! What battery would you recommend getting for a Suzuki Burgman 250cc (2002)? Please name a few solid batteries, it seems like the one I got is just too weak and quite often the scooter would find it difficult to start

      Hi, yes, search eBay or amazon for twin motorcycle usb. There's loads to choose from for about £12. Then get a multi meter and find an ignition live, I think there's one under the seat base once you remove the tray .it's as simple as that 👌 thanks for watching.
