Yep. I love the hemi half build, have watched that a couple times😊. The revivals are great, have watched a few like the bland national and Buick t-type. I'm waiting to see the Fairlane footage that he and Tony from stay tuned built, will definitely watch that a few times, awesome car. I was laughing the other day watching Derek doing some mowing withe the rough mower. How many people are going to sit through a 30 minute video of someone mowing weeds? The guy whether he's goofing off or being serious just has a way of mesmerizing people. Oh, the Christmas special with the shortcut bus trip-i hurt myself laughing on that one, definitely worth many watches.
As a 75 year old missionary in West Africa from the U.S. with no tv I watch every episode and even go back to ones I’ve not seen. Great wholesome entertainment and educational.
Those little 200's are great engines. Back in the day I bought a '68 Fairlane from a guy for a hundred bucks. It was sitting out in his back yard on four flat tires and hadn't run in ages. I aired up the tires, put a battery in it, poured some gas in the carburetor and drove it out. My plan was to drive it through the winter as a beater but I kept it and drove it for eight years. A kid down the street loved it, so I wound up giving it to him for free and he was still driving it 2 years later when I moved out of the neighborhood.
I had a similar experience with a 67 Valiant. Paid $75, drove 5 years, donated to the kid down the street. Still ride motorcycles with that kid 40 years later.
@@joesmith1067 Most of my cars back in the day were in the $100 range. After the latest gave up the ghost, I was telling a guy at work and he said he had a sister with an old junker behind the garage. Don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure it was under $100. Gotta remember, minimum wage back then was $2.75. Anyway, we went to look at it after work and yep, it ran so that was good enough for me. I didn't care what it was really. I wasn't a car guy. I drove it home and went to bed. I worked the night shift. My Brother came over later and he is a car guy and asked me where I got the goat. He said the G.T.O. I told him and he about shit. Turns out it was a 67 and was much in demand even back then. This was in 79. It was dented and rusted really bad but man did that thing run. That's the kind of thing we'd often see.
Straight 6's do run forever, however they're always gutless. They don't make enough power or RPMs to hurt themselves. The inline design is balanced way better than a V-8 can be, and the pistons being straight up and down have less friction and wear compared to a V or flat (boxer) configured engine, where the pistons are laying on their sides.

This video is packed full of standard and universally recognized automotive jargon. I always learn something from Derek. I only today realized my ride is missing ALL of its drift holes! 😂 Thanks for all of your videos, Feller!
Still making better videos than most movies released these days. So easy to watch. Keeps me smiling at your misfortune the entire way through whilst rooting for you at the same time. Cheers for the smiles per gallon.
His Auto parts commercial is the only commercial I'll sit and watch every time it comes on. "Want to jump a Coke can in the Parking Lot?" Performance Isle. OH Air Fresheners "Bourbon Flavor". Makes a guy crack up laughing every time I see it.
What a legend! 2 movie-length videos inside a week, and STILL somehow has the time to squeeze out another 22 minute video? My hat's off to ya feller, I'd love to shake your hand someday. Can't think of a better guy to idolize.
@@hojo70 He has done diy bodywork before and couple of resprays. Most of the cars don't get it, but some of them do. Guess you haven't watched all his videos.
Derek is a "car rescuer". If a vehicle has any potential for additional life, he saves it, gets it back to driving condition and either enjoys it himself or passes it on to another to enjoy, either as is or full restoration. As Derek has stated; once these old rigs are gone, they ain't coming back. He saves as many as possible.
Honesty, when things go wrong. Integrity and humility, you sir are an incredible fellow! Young enough to be my son, yet, it is I learning life lessons from you. Keep it up and god bless, from across the pond.
I would agree except fix everything as cheap as possible and some lucky high school graduate girl can get the car of her dreams for a price her parents can afford
Thanks for all these killer videos man! Had a really rough week and your videos never fail to get my mind off of things and make me laugh. You’re appreciated more than you know!
99 thousand. I'm old enough I remember people saying once a car wrapped it was done. My experience from old cars agrees but I say just rebuild them. It's comparitavly easier than today's nightmares
I actually love every episode and anticipate these cause I learn some, remember some, laugh, and diagnose/ work right along with you! Never had your sense of humor though but nobody's perfect.
I’d love to see a full restoration on this. Love the revival videos, and even the quick budget build series. Been awhile since a restoration series. Perfect candidate. Keep up the good work
These are my absolute favorite videos. You have such a talent for anything automotive, but you’re also entertaining, and I’m learning the entire way. Thanks for all of the work you put into your videos!
I'm one of the 'lady-fellers' that follows your channel. Always learn so much from the various challenges you face getting these rescues back home. Always helps to keep your sense of humour, doesn't it?
Mr. Bieri you are absolutely positively worth a million billion in this fellers eyes. I fully look up to you Derek and when it comes to being learned on, I absorb all of it. Keep being you and continue to teach all of us the right way to love and respect not only our families but everyone else that comes into our lives. Thank you sir!! I salute you feller. 🖖🖖
I kept looking a the 5 gallon (red tank) and thinking, “why does it look bigger than the ‘10 gallon tank’ in the passenger seat?!?” I can’t imagine having to think of so many various things at once! The fact you are honest enough to admit the mistake, just adds to the authenticity that makes your videos so enjoyable.
Your calm, level-headed approach to dealing with that insecure feeling that you're liable to break down or get arrested at any time has helped me deal with my own near-catastrophes on the road. And I do have lots of them. Thanks, Derek.
Ah, the meditative quality of Derek doing what he does. I love it! Fun to see an old Mustang episode. My first car was a 65 6-banger with a 4 speed. Super fun.
Derek been watching your do Jennifer over here now I really enjoy it I'm 74 years old and I'm still working pinstriping cars at dealership's everybody says when you're going to retire you're crazy to work but you're a a** Sam do you like your job and they won't answer me so who's crazy isn't it great for you to do something that you love and have the support of your family
Love these revivals, Derek. This could be a real gem. I think you ought to go all the way with this one including paint and interior. They make everything for these Mustangs now a days. I think it deserves it and you said you always wanted one so there you go.
The AFTERMARKET is a joke!. Everything comes from China and Dynacorn panels are TERRIBLE. The body's of these are like your teeth. When they go they go. The days of finding a fresh one are gone.. that's why patinas and rat rods are phasing in. You really want donor cars for OEM panels. Motor and transmission parts are good because they HAVE TO WORK.. but little things like thermostats can burn it down.. Corporate America is killing the hobby!
Want to say congratulations to Derek on the TV gig. It's nice to see a small guy get the appreciation and recognition he deserves. I love watching your videos. I hope you don't get too big for RUclips.
Half-hearted "disagree" on this one. Yeah, it's nice to see Derek make the Big Leagues and get his own show, but unfortunately they (MT) seem to have taken some of the best parts of VGG and toned them down or deleted them altogether. Some examples: Where are the goofy finger pointing scenes with the hand-held GoPro/iPhone? "Distributor"? "Alternator"? What happened to the "spark-a-whirler"? Other than a few scenes where Derek gets to be Derek ("fuel-make-it-happener"), parts of the show makes me feel like I'm watching one of those How To Work on Your Car shows that air on Saturdays ("We'll be right back" for commercial breaks, anyone?). Much like how MT (kinda-sorta) ruined "Roadkill", I say, "Hey, MT: Let Derek be Derek, Dammit!"
That cowl vent cover is a kludge to keep water out of the interior, because the cowl vent holds water and rusts out. I bought a '65 once with that "keep leaves out" story, and removed the cover once Fall rolled around and I needed the defogger to work. Then the first time it rained, I found out what the cover was really for.
Hi Derek. Well that takes me back a year or two. My old mate Mat who has now long since past away purchased a 65 mustang direct from the USA imported it to Tasmania (Island off the south coast of Australia.) and had it changed from left hand drive to right hand. Coolest thing since sliced bread. There was no roads in or out of the town of any distance and it was gravel. Anyway a quick burn up the the main drag and then back to parking it outside the shops. The car was brand new so it did not smoke but we made up for that. Cool dudes with nowhere to go. Oh to go back in time. 83 years old now but great memories. Cheers from down under. 😅😅😅
Looking back in times past always brings a smile to my face, times back then seemed simpler, people had more time to say "hi" and if you broke down on the road someone would stop and help. These days you hear of someone stopping to help, only to be robbed, or their car stolen by the people who were "broken down"...... I'm 63.
My first car was a blue '65 Mustang that I bought for $20 from a guy 3 blocks down my street. It overheated in the first block. My dad walked over with a watering can and we limped it home... He was no mechanic, but he and my Ford engineer brother in law, and their inexperienced assistant (me) tore it apart, and $400+ later it was road worthy. I learned ALL about that car from front to back. (It turned me into a lady gear-head, and I'm proud of it) My dad accidentally shorted part of the electrical system, so I had no idea how much gas was in it, or how fast I was going. I learned how to figure those things out. I loved that car, and drove it for years, until I could afford a new car. I should have kept it. Wish I could get another one.
Hi Derek, I am living in Kent, England and have just discovered your great channel!!! I have a large collection of classic cars but have recently bought a 1968 Mustang 289 Convertible that lived all its life in Arizona and this year a 56 Thunderbird so we have a real big interest in Classic American cars. I think your channel is fantastic and I'm hooked on watching it. Thank you for sharing this with us all - Best regards, Dave
@@damiworld The power of the Internet!!!! The big trouble is that I start watching these videos, get pulled in deep and don't get any work done!!! Where are you in Kent? We are between Sittingbourne & Maidstone.
Derek I've got to say there are many channels of "barn finds" and revivals out on the interwebs. You are by far the best with your laid back demeanor and humor and a vast knowledge of vehicles IMHO. Thank you for what you do it's very entertaining and I've even learned things I never knew as well. All the best to you and yours!
The rear facing camera view cracks me up. People are in such a hurry these days. If you happen to actually stop at a stop sign you get rear ended where I live. I had a 66 mustang about like that and the transmission started making a noise shortly before it ate itself. Towed it home in the middle of the night
Awesome! It's really good to see your channel back on revivals! That's what drew me to your channel when you had less than 25K subscribers. Really enjoy seeing these.
I’m impressed with VGG’s growth in the automotive community. Crown Vic racing, SST racing, drag racing, commercials. Making new friends. Unbelievable opportunities. He gets to hang out with like minded individuals having fun. He’s diversified & by the looks of it loving it.
Keep 2 round push button type lights that you would stick on wall, in a closet or cabinet to have light. You could pull those out the tool box and stick them on the front. Cant garuntee you'll be able to see all that well but you cant get pulled over for not haveing lights.😅
Man, this is like a blast from my past... When I was growing up, our family's first new car was a 1965 Mustang, Poppy Red with black vinyl interior, 6 cylinder with the "3 by the knee" transmission. This was the car that I learned to drive in, and was my Dad's daily driver until about 1971 when his daily 110 mile commute took its' toll on it. With almost 200K miles on it, it was using almost as much oil as gas, and he traded it in on a 1972 Ford Courier... so instead of my first car being a Mustang, I wound up with my Grandmother's old 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. I've always wondered how my future would have differed based solely on my first car...
This is the first one that I've thought really deserves the full shiny treatment. Lots of work I guess but it's a beautiful car. Maybe if you don't want to tackle a full resto then maybe it's best that you flip it to someone who does. Sad to see it go tho. Keep it up Derek, great content as ever.
FYI... which you probably already know but.... Aluminum Foil will take out the rustage type stuff...things, off the chrome bumpers. Had a fair amount on my Harley and Hot diggity doggie it worked.
You could pick up those notch back Stangs in the in the late 70's for about $500 with the six in it. Looks like from the paint and everything someone slapped a new set of quarters on it then and sprayed it Firemist Red which was real popular at the time. Someone at least did the top end on the engine or it would have smoked a lot worse from the hard valve seals which was a common problem around 75K.
I currently own and drive one of those 200 ci beauties of the 67 flavour with the 3 speed. I rescued this from a barn after it had been sitting for 30 years, rebuilt the necessaries and been driving it for 5 years now. Starts every time. I have 7 other mustangs in my corral of various years and models, all with v8's. I'm gonna keep this little guy just the way it is, maybe with an engine rebuild and a turbo in it's future...
One of the funniest episodes of vice grip garage, it’s no secret we all love the revivals especially, but this one is an instant classic. Jeremiah’s Bo staff! Great job there fella!
that and Mose's sandal. Just full of the 1 lines that make me laugh. God Bless you and keep going. I was toying with the idea of a 1966 Burgungy Mustang. Gorgeous restoration. Too much $$ for my blood though.

Honestly just ran into your channel yesterday and have been watching just about all day yesterday and this morning. Your videos sparked a fire in me that burned out when my dad passed. Thank you!
Just start: Front to back, back to front, inside to outside, ...... Just pick some simple strategy and start at the beginning. Don't look at the whole thing, look at fixing one thing. The way you eat an elephant is one bite at a time.

1:06:18 The 1964 [and 1/2] Mustang had a Falcon Dashboard. The 1966 had it's own dashboard. We owned a 1961 Falcon and my friend owned a 1966 Mustang. The dashboards were completely different. But the Mustang you have has the 1961-1964 Falcon dash. This was an early model. A real classic. They original Pony car was a marketing gamble - so they held off on a custom dashboard until models [like the one you have] sold well.
Have been waiting for this one since you mentioned it. My aunt had one of these with 3 speeds with the 200 inline 6 as well, the same red and everything. VGG has one of the largest followings with views over any other automotive channel on the "TUBE YOUver", and it truely shoves! This is the exact reason Motortrend along with the genrs from Roadkill chose to get him started on the cable/Satel lit box!

If you use a vacum pump to draw brake fluid through the bleed nipples you are less likley to cut the seals on rust in the master cylinder and no amout of brake pedal pumping will help. Its also eaisier to do by yourself.

The length of these videos is awesome. Almost 2 hours of it, such a treat!
A full length movie
Damn cool of a guy to let a feller use his garage while ya needed it, and a random fan meet to boot. Thanks for the upload Derrek!
Where do he sleep?
Motels😊
This video is packed full of standard and universally recognized automotive jargon. I always learn something from Derek. I only today realized my ride is missing ALL of its drift holes! 😂 Thanks for all of your videos, Feller!
Still making better videos than most movies released these days. So easy to watch. Keeps me smiling at your misfortune the entire way through whilst rooting for you at the same time. Cheers for the smiles per gallon.
Congrats on making it to the big leagues with motor trend! You deserve it.
His Auto parts commercial is the only commercial I'll sit and watch every time it comes on. "Want to jump a Coke can in the Parking Lot?" Performance Isle. OH Air Fresheners "Bourbon Flavor". Makes a guy crack up laughing every time I see it.
I’ll watch that commercial over and over and being a former member of the green mafia I dislike the place but dang if ole Derek gets me everytime
Man I absolutely enjoy the humor , dry humor works well for Derek and the atmosphere of automotive repair.
A heavy, heavy dose of sarcasm 🙃
And he's not afraid to poke a little fun at him self. Derick is a pro.
Holy smokes! VGG was rolling through Orchard Grass! I’ll be dipped….. I spent the better half of 25 years in that neighborhood.
Full restoration is my vote. Those old Mustangs are just one of a kind. Too nice of a car to not let her shine. Don’t be afraid Derek, fear NOT 😂
Especially with dagenham 4 speed
What a legend! 2 movie-length videos inside a week, and STILL somehow has the time to squeeze out another 22 minute video?
My hat's off to ya feller, I'd love to shake your hand someday. Can't think of a better guy to idolize.
never a truer word.
Definitely a worthy candidate for full VGG style restoration. It was a pure pleasure to watch this one.
He doesn't restore them. Just gets them barely running and moves on to the next
@@hojo70 He has done diy bodywork before and couple of resprays. Most of the cars don't get it, but some of them do. Guess you haven't watched all his videos.
agreed
Derek is a "car rescuer". If a vehicle has any potential for additional life, he saves it, gets it back to driving condition and either enjoys it himself or passes it on to another to enjoy, either as is or full restoration. As Derek has stated; once these old rigs are gone, they ain't coming back. He saves as many as possible.
He stopped so much for fuel it's almost like he was driving an EV. That could give a fella an idea.
Honesty, when things go wrong. Integrity and humility, you sir are an incredible fellow! Young enough to be my son, yet, it is I learning life lessons from you. Keep it up and god bless, from across the pond.
Definitely deserves a full restoration on this one
I would agree except fix everything as cheap as possible and some lucky high school graduate girl can get the car of her dreams for a price her parents can afford
🙌🏻 yes!

Thanks for all these killer videos man! Had a really rough week and your videos never fail to get my mind off of things and make me laugh. You’re appreciated more than you know!
One hour and forty minutes of great viewing. Better than any movie going around at the moment. Love your work, Vice Grip Garage !!
Are there any good movies going around? Nothing comes to mind except VGG and a few other YT channels.
Thats the truth, and i aint kiddin ya! Lol
So true. Well said.
99 thousand. I'm old enough I remember people saying once a car wrapped it was done. My experience from old cars agrees but I say just rebuild them. It's comparitavly easier than today's nightmares
This guy is so damn good, u can watch every one of his videos and stay fully entertained no matter how long they are.
I'm so glad he's getting the recognition and views he deserves.
make that money!
your personality and humor is golden!

Keep up the good work
Thank GOD someone else works on "stuff" bare handed. None of that prostate checking glove stuff.
I'll be dipped! It must be true because I'm looking at it and so on!

In 1984, I drove a mile to a gas station in a 1976 Datsun B210 using only the starter and gravity. Good times! Your channel brings back the memories!
As an S197 owner, the door inserts falling off made me feel a special part of the heritage that is owning a Mustang
An hour and forty-two minutes, what a treat. Thank you for the dedication. I bet you made that fan at the gas stations day as well.
Another classic episode from VGG. An hour and forty-two minutes was way too much - perfect
way wayyy wayyyy too much... perfect
I like it.........yeah........ perfect!

Simply enjoy these videos more than most actual TV shows on the TV anymore. Love the vids man keep em up.

@@ViceGripGarage around how much did I guy pay for this old rig if you don't mind me asking
They didn't care much about fuel mileage back in the 60s. That's why your 78 pontiac with the 305 did almost 20 to the gallon at 70 mph!
How is it that you just keep getting funnier with every episode? Thanks Derek, you're awesome.
Thanks for watching

Watch his show in Motor Trend!
@@BIGD-lg1qd what's it called?
Motor trend Show is called Roadworthy rescues
Whatever it takes, Derek is that kinda guy who is not very likely to get completely stranded. Knowledge and ingeniuity! ♥
Most hurtful thing Derek has ever said: "Whoever made these, I just want them audited." Such malice!
that was such a great line...lol
🤣
My favorite is; You'll get the full truth from head liners, children and yoga pants".
Your calm, level-headed approach to dealing with that insecure feeling that you're liable to break down or get arrested at any time has helped me deal with my own near-catastrophes on the road. And I do have lots of them. Thanks, Derek.
I’ve made it my life’s mission to report all these bots. Too bad that does nothing, they make me so mad.
These are 100% my favorite videos watching you overcome all the problems and somehow always making it home. You sir are an inspiration.
I'd love to see this turned into either a budget restoration project or a few episodes on diy bodywork. Maybe with or without the 1 grit.
A lady who watches your 2 hour revival videos just happened to see you at the fuel stop. You meet the nicest people!!!
Want to say congratulations to Derek on the TV gig. It's nice to see a small guy get the appreciation and recognition he deserves. I love watching your videos. I hope you don't get too big for RUclips.
These days, RUclips is bigger than TV.
@@jamesdecanteur4485 but a guys gotta think. If he was making so much with RUclips why even entertain motor trends offer. They had to offer some $$$.
He ain't no "small guy" lol the only vehicle he didn't struggle to get in to was his big ole ambulance firetruck
@@subcoolman reminds me of when Wayne and Garth sold the rights to Wayne's World and the studio commercialized it way too much. 🙄
When are you going to get back to the GTO,that is the coolest car I had one too it was black 🖤.I wish I still had it.
I appreciate your story, Cheers!
Looking back in times past always brings a smile to my face, times back then seemed simpler, people had more time to say "hi" and if you broke down on the road someone would stop and help. These days you hear of someone stopping to help, only to be robbed, or their car stolen by the people who were "broken down"...... I'm 63.
Very Cool !!!! Thank You
😅@@garrylearmonth9313
These are so easy to do lhd to right using falcon steering set up, I notice this one has 4 stud rims too so he must be a oldie
You can and should

That fuel diagnosis and hack in the dark on the highway was pure Derek. Incredible.
Some of his episodes are just amazing and unforgettable...... I believe I've watched them all twice at least.

Have you got photos of your collection?

The rear facing camera view cracks me up. People are in such a hurry these days. If you happen to actually stop at a stop sign you get rear ended where I live. I had a 66 mustang about like that and the transmission started making a noise shortly before it ate itself. Towed it home in the middle of the night
Loving the longer videos. Makes a guy feel like he is watching a hit movie every week. Thanks Derek.
I’m an old school shade tree mechanic and I absolutely love your videos
Keep 2 round push button type lights that you would stick on wall, in a closet or cabinet to have light. You could pull those out the tool box and stick them on the front. Cant garuntee you'll be able to see all that well but you cant get pulled over for not haveing lights.😅
That 200ci straight six was soooo easy to work on. I learned about auto repair on my pony just like yours.
I like the old style videos. They all have their charm but never forget what made you popular. Thanks Derek. Nice car. I'd love that thing.
