Pros please tell the beginners that Drop D means the D higher then the E. Not the one about an octave up :D Otherwise, its always good to have a backup set of strings 😂
I’m buying a guitar tmrw I’m so excited that I can’t sleep omg I have never been this happy in my life . I’ve only had a junior guitar which I bought from my friend for 30$ for 7 months but I got a job at walmart and worked my ass off now I’m gonna buy a awsome guitar and learn to play heavy metal 🤘
I hope you fucking succeed! I am 28 and never touched a guitar in my life, but i had a dream which i commented here also. I wish to also be good at playing heavy metal, it is needed!
I bought my first guitar about 2 years ago and man. I can really hear the difference in my skill. I've gotten kinda close to dimebags tone. My palm mutes and pinch harmonics are heavy and crisp. Nothing more rewardin than playin a song and see people face.
I always wanted to buy a guitar, I realized my dream today (at 36). And this is exactly what I want to do, I don't want to "learn to play guitar" just try to make these sounds and perhaps learn a couple of my favorite songs. Thanks, great video!
6:25 I remember when I was 14 in June 2016 and this was the coolest riff I ever heard. Took me till August to learn it. But here in 2020 good golly I ascended!
that right hand info made my world explode in a fury of metal knowledge. its so hard to find a good guitar explanation for beginners and you nailed it!
Great lesson Simon! I'm 25 and been playing guitar since I was 15 and I still suck because I have trouble understanding how everything fits (probably due to my learning disability.) But your video helped me understand, so thank you for giving an awesome lesson.
Simon; great presentation - your technique is straightforward and easy to understand. I'm 61, had not picked up a guitar in almost 40 years, and my wife gave me an awesome 2014 Les Paul Traditional and a Line 6 modeling amp for Christmas. For the last month I've been relearning chords, practicing chord changes, stretching and training my fretting fingers and learning pentatonic scales. I don't feel ready to jump into playing songs yet although I've learned 3 or 4 easy metal riffs. I don't think the people here in their 20s commenting that they're too old have much to worry about, because I'm determined to get that LP wailing if I have to spend the rest of my life trying. Many thanks for the lesson and inspiration, and I'll be looking for more of your videos to help me get my metal on. Cheers from Florida!
That's encouraging, Simon. Besides that, it's a good likelihood that ppl like Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Billy Gibbons will at some point start feeling the effects of arthritis. Well, maybe not Billy Gibbons. 😎
im going to start a band called kitten paws where we all wear onesies and kitten masks and before the brutal drops with deadly slams the entire band will scream meow!
Simon, I am a new guitar player and really appreciate your video. Its informative and gave me a few techniques to practice that even I can work on. Great job, and it was humorous/light too. Best, from New Mexico.
Great video! I have been trying to learn how to make these sounds and you nailed it for me. I have even been to 2 teachers and they were of no help. Thank you again for this lesson.
I only have an HM Strat logo shirt, a 1988 HM Strat in Drop C, and a Randall RM100 halfstack....I think I may be able to do the metal. Good video man, love checking out how everyone plays "metal". A lot of variety is a good thing.
without a doubt in all the great ocean of the guitar tutorials that are on the internet, please say that you are the best thank you very much for sharing what you know and do, you are a source of learning and inspiration thank you !!!!!
great vid -- man those peavey classic 50's and 30's are just super badass --- so versitile, great, great tone and such a clean palette for the effects.
FUCK YEAH!! That was awesome! I've never played an instrument before in my life, but after seeing the magic broke down a bit, it does look a bit more achievable. Great vid, thanks for that.
Hey Simon! I've only watched the first 4 mins (because I don't have my guitar handy) and already you have majorly impressed me. Most of these "how to" videos assume a certain amount of knowledge, talent, or ability. I like that you brought it all the way down to actual beginner level AND remembered to show proper close-ups!! Thanks! (Looking forward to annoying the wife and kids later as I practice this.)
my dad bought an electric guitar a year back and never used it now I am learning it hahah thanks man will do my best this will be the second instrument i learned through this cool website hahah
Dady Simon you are amazing im only playing guitar for 2months but you really helped a lot i wish you are my father your so cool \m/ sorry for bad english :D

Hi Nic. I'd go with either Ibanez, ESP, Schecter, Charvel, Jackson, or something else with some meaty humbucker pickups. Gibsons have some meaty tones as well. Thanks for the comment mate, and glad my video helped! :0)

Is hair long like Jim
Root count?
Carson Bay yes
Thank fuck ive got long hair I was almost worried I was going to be unable to djent
Hahahahaha lol
You forgot the long hair. dude :)
hahahaha
it's long hair or bald. either or
Yes , it is Kerry King Heritage.
but bald requires unnecessarily long beard
not really, the Disturbed vocalist is bald and has a small small beard
He isn't using a black guitar so it is not metal enough
Les Pauls arent even metal
Sounded metal to me!
it does not matter what brand as far as it has humbucker pickups and u have a good high gain amp you re good to go
black jackson
@@truedarklander black jackson
Anything can be metal once you put Death in front of it. “Death Onsie” see dark AF
