I don’t know if it’s just my coil, but if I check resistance across my secondary I’m getting 16.48 kohms. I found my issue was a ground to the ignitor and it’s running now. To see if you have a bad ground to the ignitor check for voltage across the primary contacts, if that’s zero you should have voltage from either of them back to ground.. If that’s the case you have a bad ground to the ignitor.
I'm not sure but I know that most coils from various brands unthread as long as the coil is visually the same meaning a plastic base where the wire is attached and a visual separation around the edge of the wire. Sorry, hard to put into words

Coil has pins in same dwell. They cut the connector off and have pins. Does it matter what goes where? What voltage goes on the red wire to the coil? This thing is a mess. Nothing seems like it should. I had spark at one point and it was running then it died and I lost spark.
My ran but when got warmed up it has no spark I replaced the igniter and the coil now no spark at all the igniter is hooked up right it’s the plug then red and orange to the solenoid then the black with the white stripe to ground what is the issue? If this is a bad igniter that will be the 2nd time a bought new a bad part.
Ezgo 1200 1999.... Won't fire.... Everything is new, plugs, wires ignition coil, igniter, solenoid. I bypassed the pedal and ignition switch. While cranking I get battery voltage on red and white on ignition coil.... Is that ok ? I notice on ignitor wiring harness connector red wire and white wire are connected. Hello, having a problem with no spark on my 1999 EZGO 1200. New pickup coil, ignitor and solenoid. Three new ignition coils. New plugs also. All the ignition coils have improper ohm readings on the primary and secondary sides. Book says 3.7 to 5.2 primary and 10.0 to 17.0 secondary. New coils have 2.8 primary and 8.6 secondary. (Is this ok are the new coils made differently, I bought them from EZGO.) While cranking I get battery voltage at red wire on coil and a little less than batt. voltage on white wire. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Have an ezgo trying to get it started, was missing starter/generator turns over, short spark on initial turn over, no continued spark new coil, wires,igniter and pickup, is improperly installed generator possibly an issue ? Ohms check out as stated , Help , thanks
Starter generator would be separate from a spark issue. If you have an adjustable gap spark tester I would recommend trying that at its smallest gap to see if you have any change or improvement.

Hello Blake this is a great video. i have this same golf cart and have been struggling with getting any spark. I tested the coil and received 17 omh on both part and still nothing. if you have any other advice that would be amazing. iv been scratching my head for months with this cart.

My cart got washed one day, and then a continuous beep developed. I was told to let it dry out it was common. Now when you press the pedal nothing happens at all. Any ideas? I can't figure it out. 🤔

There is a coarse threaded screw inside the coil. The old wire unthreads. While jostling rhe new wire, apply a little pressure while threading it on until it gently bottoms out.
OK So I have no spark when cranking. New coil , wires, plugs. I have gas. When the key is on Both wires are hot. when cranking I have no power to them. What else could it be but the box. every thing else ran great upon parking it for the year last year. Thank you
Rough guess would be a rusty pickup coil at the flywheel. I believe its called a pulser coil. Before throwing more parts into it I would also check grounds. When your checking for power while cranking, make sure you're using battery ground. If you have power, move to engine ground, if you lose power you have a ground problem.

1998 EZGO golf cart will not start, it does turn over. Using a spark tester, spark is very weak. I followed your steps up to the pulsar coil. Not sure where it is. Battery 12.55v. 10.88v at coil. 3.7 ohms at coil spade connectors. 18.8 ohms across spark plug wires. Now what? Great video, thanks for sharing.
@@BlakesGarage1 yeah I wasn't sure. When I placed the test light on the red and the white, I got a solid light on the white. Ive checked every wire for continuity, found the pulsar bad and replaced. I know its going to be something simple I am over looking. My grounds are good also and I have everything hook up per the wiring diagram.

@@MagpulMedic211 try a few squirts of oil in each cylinder and check compression again. If it increases drastically, you have a ring problem, if it stays the same, its valves and most likely adjustment.
I'm working on a 03 ezgo with the 2 cyl robin Pulse coil at 20.9 ohm, coil primary at 3.6 ohm secondary is 21.8 ohm ( out of spec, but both new ones also out at 17.7 & 18.9 out the box) All grounds replaced and getting ground. New ignitor (3 actually, but 2 from different year ) New voltage regulator. New solenoid. Still no spark. Cranks, but no spark. Even checked to make sure battery didn't somehow switch polarity. I have run 12v through each individual wire, wiggling and jiggling the wire to see if there was any loss of voltage. Nothing. Replaced all connectors, and still no spark. Any recommendations on a fix from anyone would be greatly appreciated

Straight from the ignitor, I only get a blink of light when letting off the pedal. Its either the ignitor itself, or something is missing from the balancer. I would buy an oem ignitor, but I'm not convinced that three seperate aftermarket ignitors brand new out of the box could be bad. I'm missing something. Good luck!

I just bought a late 80s ezgo with a 2 stroke ive been throwing parts at it for 2 weeks. Now I’ve got it where it will run when a battery charger is connected to the battery (the battery is good) after it sits on charge for maybe 5 min you can push pedal the engine will start and run for maybe 3 to 5 seconds and that’s all. Wait another 5 min on charger it will run again 3 to 5 seconds and die. Will only run when on charger and only for a few seconds. The rest of the time it just cranks and cranks and cranks. Turns over great the battery charger makes no difference on the cranking speed of the starter. It will just only run when on charger. Any ideas?
@@simpleman7129 I got a tester and plugged in between spark plug and coil it would fire and then break down and quit firing. So I got a coil for a late 70s Volkswagen wired it in and it runs like new like $20 for the coil 😁👍

I have an ez go golf cart and when it sits over night it won’t start. It won’t start on starting fluid either but if you put it in nutreul and take out the plugs and crank it for a while and put plugs back it it will start most of the time and it will start the rest of the day
I have the same problem. I am constantly checking the valve clearance to get it to start. It's either that or doing what you do, cleaning the plugs to get it to start. I might try a new coil, maybe the spark is weak
As I watch these vids on EZGO gas carts I’m almost regretting buying one. Mine is only a few years old and does not have that many hours on it as it’s a weekend only use cart, if that, around the neighborhood with very easy use on it. Common issue that I see is and that I have experienced is it’s running and then stops for no reason. Pushing the pedal and nothing, zero, nada, nothing happens. Put it in reverse and it starts and goes. Put it in Forward and off we go. For a little while. Then it happens again. For a cart that probably does not have 25 hours run time total, it’s just not dependable. I’ve named it Garage Queen. It loves being in the shop. 🤦♂️
@@BlakesGarage1 Yessir. Too many issues. Mine is about 5-6 yes old and is pristine looking - even the engine compartment,compared to those that are 1990’s to 2010 vintage. It gets TLC treatment yet gets cranky. Just thought EZ Go was a long time brand that was known for quality. They certainly have had years to perfect the golf cart.

If this is a bad igniter that will be the 2nd time a bought new a bad part.

So if you are not getting enough voltage leading to the coil then what could be wrong? Meaning which part or parts are bad?

Hmm, are you getting battery voltage to the coil while cranking on either the white or red wires?

Really? A rusty fly wheel can affect the pulsar coil? How do you clean off the rust?

What does that white wire connect to that's not plugged into anything to the right of the plug cables.
I'm not 100% but im thinking ground. One wire is 12v and the other is ground and I assume the red wire is 12v.

The compresion is good had all valves set by a mechanic

I'm having the same problem. Got fuel and fire. Compression on both cyclenders are 60 pounds. Could it be valve clearance causing weak compression.

well the white wire goes into the ignitor, and the blk/wht from the ignitor is the ground. And I did do a continuity test on ever wire.

2003 ez go cart very cold starting need to use choke to keep it running
Sounds like a lack of fuel. Could be carburetor, fuel pump, or fuel filter.

You might double check valve adjustment. It sounds like loose valves.

It gets TLC treatment yet gets cranky. Just thought EZ Go was a long time brand that was known for quality. They certainly have had years to perfect the golf cart.

You can lock it in neutral easily by pulling the metal lever free from it's slot on most ezgo

I got a 95 E-Z-Go yesterday for $200 bucks that is not getting spark.
Previous owner converted to a GM HEI coil and a different pickup , so I have to swim through someone else's muddy waters lol

If I put power to the coil it will start other than that it just cranks
Part two should have the diagrams you need but if memory serves, the coil could have keyed 12v
