I should’ve taken more of an appreciation of the conceptual aspects for this video and emphasized those because this story doesn’t feel like original Dragon Ball, yes. However, to me Super just didn’t feel like original DB to me either. Kakumei’s concepts and ideas are really compelling but I’d be lying if at times when reading this story it felt very different from the main storytelling, ideology and heart of the original series that had ended in 1995. In closing, after reassessing my thoughts on Kakumei thanks to all of your added perspectives, I think it is a great sequel because it expands on concepts and characters in Super really well. The core of its direction and storytelling is fundamentally different and not like the original Dragon Ball. Although, I will admit that as a fan work it could be trying to do something different which I respect wholeheartedly. The artwork is an upfront sign of this and one of the reasons I respect it. This is why it’s “worthy” not perfect by any means.
Imo I just wait a bit for multiple chapters to come out then read through them them skim through them after my first read to understand it more. I see what you mean though
What are you, slow? Im not a manga fan but kakumei is well made and I have hated how dbs don't following up on other characters , just focusing on goku. I like their direction unless you want them to drag a single fight over the next few volumes
My favorite scene in Dragon Ball Super is when Goku is training by himself, shadow boxing style. What makes the scene so special is that he's recounting his last fight with his grandpa. Even despite all of super's flaws, this is one of the most special moments in the series to me.
Vegeta did not renounce his rivalry with Goku. He only accepted that Goku was better than him, but accepting that doesn't mean he's going to stop pushing himself and continue his rivalry.
@sky-oq5mr No, he didn't. He only accepted that Goku was better than him. You can accept another person is better than you at something but you can use that as motivation for yourself. That isn't the same as renouncing.
@@Stupaipai he literally did bruh. He been accepted that Goku was better than him in the android arc. Tf you talking about? In the Buu saga the whole reason he took up babadis terms is BECAUSE he accepted that Goku was better than him and he'd do anything to surpass him. This was Vegeta renouncing it, he did not care anymore as shown at the end of Z. You didn't pay attention at all or you are the biggest dbs defender ever.
The reason Super exists is because Toriyama did not want the last of his legacy (db wise) to be Dragonball Evolution. After BoG, one thing just led to another.
“One thing led to another” is Toei pestering him to make another since they wanted to continue milking the hype that they had after BoG. (And the series continued to have well after it ended in the 90s)
@GoozyGang Maybe if it strikes me. I upload what I want and as of rn, I got a schedule written down for what I want to upload. I had an idea for discussing the possible Frieza redemption after seeing TotallyNotMark's most recent video.
I see a lot of people in the comments saying that Kakumei just isnt what original Dragon Ball is, and I agree However, one look at the artstyle should tell us that Kakumei ISNT trying to emulate Toriyama, its trying to be its own thing and expand on the lore in its own way Is it edgy and serious? ofc. But does it neglect its characters and storylines? Absolutely not
To me is so simple as: if its not made by the original creator is not good or interesting. non of this fan made mangas or mini comics are interesting. Is just not. That's my opinion.
I don’t understand where this comment is coming from. Isn’t Vegeta’s whole arc on Planet Sadala about him channeling the more wholesome and feel-good vibes that Goku had to find purpose and lead the Sayians? This series may have brutal fights, but to say that it’s completely dark and entirely depressing is disingenuous.
@@sirgensoid2846 It's cool to see how much opinions can be varied. To me, what I saw in this video was more interesting to me than most of Dragon Ball. That's my opinion.
@@sirgensoid2846 it is very easy for a fan with experience in manga writing and a plethora of references to write a better story then toriyama to follow the end of z. Let us not get our emotions involved in this.
Kakumei does what DBS refuses to do and actually explores the interesting topics it brings about. The story actually moving in the background also makes the world feel much more alive.
@@maliksyv6056 i’m fine with him being out of the narrative because other characters should have their time to shine. It’s just with Goku. He isn’t the same Goku. Idk it is pretty cool just not what I feel dragon ball is to me.
While I agree Kakumei is a FANTASTIC fan project, and probably my favourite fan project ever, if it were in the place of super, or a sequel to super, that would be awful. Especially since it's not in the same direction that Dragon ball super is heading. It is a fun idea, and would maybe be a great spin-off multiverse type story, but, if this was main canon, I personally think it wouldn't really be THAT good.
And you like the current super manga more? With it´s underutilasation of like 90% of the cast and weird written villans and new characters like in the Granola Arc? Because I personally don´t like how Black freeza for example comes out of nowhere and is the strongest character in the series. In any other manga story parts like this would be ripped to shreds on the internet, just look at jjk.
@@halftimebeing6401 I agree I'm not the greatest fan of the super manga, I still personally like it more than Kakumei as a canon story. I'm not saying Kakumei is bad at all, it's a great fan story, but I'll still take the super manga over Kakumei every day of the week
@halftimebeing6401 granola was so disappointing. Hes the titular character of the arc and it feels like toyo forgot about him in the later half. Also Gas is Ass.
The biggest downside I found with Kakumei was that since there’s more characters then ever to focus on that it felt really scatter brained reading it, especially when only a couple of them really went anywhere.
It reminds me of those big DC comic events where there are like 6 different comic series related to the same event, and the only way to truly understand the story is to read everything. I don't hate it, but it can be annoying at times.
Db was so important To me in my childhood that I can’t be critical of it it’s great listening to someone that can and yeah super lacks I a lot of places but gives us good moments too
Love this video, You spoke all my thoughts, One thing I will say, Is that I think super's manga has managed to pick itself back up mostly and I hope they aren't afraid to use some of the ideas that they introduced, like Moro, Lord of lords residing in buu, Merus, Cerelians (A race of snipers is just cool as hell) and the heeters, Ultra Ego, Power awakening/Orange I'd like to not shy away from that stuff even if they'd have to rewrite the way they are introduced into the story. But overall Kakumei actually uses the character's history to it's fullest extent, I've always wanted goten and trunks to do something out of fusion even though I love their fusion techniques, them being heroes and swordmasters like in the dragon ball online lore was always the play to me. Gohan finally progressing after 2 decades of nothing. The humans trying to find something special about themselves. Vegeta FINALLY going to sadala, reintroducing tuffles, even going back to the demon realm. They are all doing something to enhance what has already came before and I for one love it all. It actually feels like they are capitalizing on dragon ball's potential.
It's decent, but the fan service is crazy. It's basically everything that everyone online cryed about in a story. It's hard to say it's better than super when it's just someone's crazy ideas put together
@TheWazzoGames because the story is just things fans were begging for. Like a war with the gods and beerus vs goku again. I mean the list goes on. Fan service isn't just tits
@swbftor403 you understand that's not good storytelling, right? Anyone could write this and just base it on what the internet wanted in super. It takes all suspense and growth to the story because you can guess what will happen next. Most fans think they know what they want, but in most cases. It's something very basic with no real story growth. Like tell me one thing other than the action that's shows any development for anyone. Even the bad guys have no ark. What do we know about them but they are bad angles? On the surface it seems like something, but really it's just something fans said would be a cool idea for super. That is fan service my guy
@@yungKaution100Have you actually read Kakumei? If you did you wouldn't br saying this mess. the villains already had their motivations explained with their introduction, and as we slowly get through the story they will have their arcs explored like they did with Amaron and his subordinates in the war in Sadala. Speaking of Sadala, the writers gave them so much character and development, all brought about Vegeta who is also excellently portrayed. Then you have the various set ups of other characters that are still being cooked in the background, there are critiques to have of Kakumei but "no development is not one of them". Yeah Kakumei is fanservice, because it provides the fans with actual good writing.
9:40 This is one thing I disagree with, Picollo has been training mentally and physically all the time throughout the events in Super. He hasn't been lax and has always readied himself for whatever new threats may arise. He always tells Gohan that Goku and Vegeta won't always be there to save the day. I say Orange Picollo is a well-worth transformation nowhere near as much of an asspull as Beast is. He has been hardworking this entire time, it just isn't shown much or is merely on the backdrop.
Hope to see you cover this/maybe even more dragon ball fan made content. Maybe like one on the Legacy of AF, and how SSJ5 videos and images dominated the mid to late 2000s images because of it. Or just going over the story of it in general.
Its always fascinating to see how the time a fan manga is made/started always affects it heavily. The way that multiverse is pre-battle of gods and works off of that original canon, and then how kakumei was started before we got ultra ego and beast and orange which are all kinda game changers for these characters. But ofc kakumei is still peak and frankly… better than canon lmao
@@LizardKingRequiem yeah but vegeta was never on the path of ultra instinct after the tournament of power so it makes no sense for him to be unlocking it in kakumei
personally I just don't vibe with it some of the choices make DBS infamous moments seem better like the whole Goku being trapped, which became a meme at this point and it's brutality feels...a bit much, like why do we need a whole look at Cabba's heart ripped out? That doesn't feel like Dragon Ball
Here is why: It doesn't feel anything like dragon ball, it's too edgy and serious, it just doesn't has any of the lightweight stuff that made Dragon Ball what it is, it feels like it was made by and for people that only saw edits of the rare times Goku was serious and Mandella Effect havers That wouldn't be a problem, really, the thing that pushes the camel out of the ravine is that people keep acting like this is what peak dragon ball is, saying it's better than super, yada yada yada, when the only thing Dragon Ball on it are the characters and setting.
New Hope, Multiverse, the one that made a wayyy better ending for the Goku Black arc, and the ones about Future Gohan are my favorites. The only thing I liked about Kakumei was Goten and Trunks attaining Super Saiyan God
Not really a fan of it and I wouldn’t call it better or a worthy sequel. Like them killing off Cheelai for Broly’s power up, or Vegeta knocking Caulifla out cuz she wouldn’t shut up. Also… >Constant Callbacks to Z: I get the bringing back Frieza argument, but Broly and Cell Max are legit separate characters… Broly is also an entirely different and better character from his Z counterpart.
I know that they are different characters for sure but the ideas and concepts originate in Z which is what I hate personally. Like Cell to Cell Max is such a downgrade when making a new android design was something that they did with the Gammas. A worse rehash for no reason. Broly is a different and likable character to me, but I hate the reuse of ideas that have characters attached to them to make stuff canon because they can't be bothered to make original villains for the movies. Cell Max is a creatively bankrupt idea and concept. He's literally Cell's 2nd form with that rages like probably and can now bust universes all for the awakening of Beast Gohan. So for ranting but yeah.
Also yeah, the Caulifla thing was definitely dramatic but killing someone dear for a rage boost isn't new it's legit what leads to Goku's transformation so I don't see it being out there at all.
@@maliksyv6056 Yeah and Goku’s Gohan’s SS2 transformation after killing someone leading up to a rage boost is the only time it ever happens… Also hop off DBS Broly he’s way better than Z Broly-
I am not so sure it could be a sequal although the artwork is amazing! Story is well... Amazing! Everything about it it's amazing! I actually want to see it animated! Frieza as a God of Destruction... OUR BIGGEST DREAMS ARE HERE! I mean for that manga lol.
Btw it is actually quite a shame to see them neglect the humans & Piccolo so much. Especially back in the Saiyan Saga (and arguably Namek saga) where all of them became so easily massively more powerful within the span of a year or even a few months arguably. With the only real reason why most of them (besides presumably Tien) stayed weaker is due to being complacent. Super Piccolo should at least be Fat Buu level if he wasn't already, and in theory some of the humans could be just as strong. It's just that the series never really gave them the opportunity to, sadly. So I'm glad to see this series at least continuing that instead of neglecting them.
One issue with some fan manga's is that they restrict themselves to the material the series is familiar with, they don't seemingly tend to introduce many new concepts all together and instead work almost only within the already established concepts
My only problem with kakumei is that I feel like things like ue, granola, Moro Beast Gohan etc could’ve had so much potential for cool concepts in db Kakumei but they stated there not gonna add any super content after dbs broly into it
When I first heard of Kakumei, I thought "Oh just another edgy DBZ fanfic with mid writing that the fandom gonna endorse anyways and then forget abt it in 3 weeks, cuz its mid." Now years later, Im happy that I was wrong. The story looks interresting and honestly the DB Fandom need less slop of Fanfics/What-Ifs anyways. About the powerscalling of DBZ though - I think there is a way to make everyone at least somewhat relevant again! But that would take going back to the Battle of Gods, and erasing Revival of F while rewriting the entirely of DBS. Simply make it so all the saiyans in the God ritual got a little bit of God Ki, which is already implied to be a boost, and it could also be passed down to anyone in close proximity. Then just like Master Roshi, find some way to make the other Humans (and Piccolo) be able to live as many years as the Saiyans, so they can train in the Time Chamber. Theres the fact that Yamcha could still move in Vegeta's increase gravity, so there is room to grow either way. Even if all of what I said is impossible, Humans could endorse the spirit of the DB Classic and have gimmicky techniques that help the fight indirectly, such as Mafuba, or Destructive Disc which was always much stronger than the user itself. The fact that the Humans from DBS could rock the heck out of Perfect Cell, and the Hybrid-Saiyans potential, means that DBZ is never about "Who's stronger", simply "Who's can get stronger FASTER"
Man, i can't believe there are people who hate this. "It's too edgy and there's no humour!" Me when i get all my media opinions off Twitter users trying to pay their rent.
I love manga and fan mangas thanks to Channel’s like these and channels that narrate the story for you my only problems with fan mangas be the pacing with I get you want to add this in or slow things down their not personals and I know that and the feeling of having to wait for the next chapter to release with no word or update only haveing to check their website or follow them witch I get their people with their own life’s and their not on a time frame to get these releases out weekly like other manga but I still love the manga and the art work
I like it. I haven’t gone too far into the manga yet but as long as they don’t make Goku dumber than he already is in super, then I’d say that this would easily be my favorite fan manga.

While a cool story for sure, it leaves me with one pressing question and possible big flaw of the story (if adapted into canon). Where the hell do you go from this point on? Powercreep seems like something that is going to be rampant in a story like this, especially after it ends. This is a cool story but maybe for later down the line. Like where do you go after you supposedly defeat the grandmother e.g. a being presumably on the lvl of the Grand priest..Zeno?? Like there are probably more stories to be told before you jump to something like this.
Vegeta never gave up the rivalry all he did was admit goiu is better than him even in dragon ball z final chapter he says "SOMEDAY, I SHALL BE THE ONE WHO WILL DEFEAT YOU, KAKARROT"
Yoo great vid man! Really good editing, only critcism i have is that the sound effects you added for images appearing and such are very loud and made it hard to hear your voice, due to how much i had to turn the volume down
Yeah, because you're reading the Manga. The anime took liberties from the Manga that were (In my opinion) lame and underwhelming. For instance, the manga gave Jiren a (little) extra motivation and character, along with giving Zamasu a Metal Cooler like army of clones instead of a weird ass Gmod map skin superimposed onto the sky. I'm a little worried what scenes in the Manga will be seen as "deleted scenes" or altered for the Anime. Hopefully not much, and they instead improve on the Dialogue. Moro would be Sick animated.
Idk, I think Kakumei is carried by the art. The story is so weirdly edgy sometimes and feels *very* fanficcy. Nowhere near as good as the actual canon material.
Im sorry ive seen this critisim a few times I have to reply, In terms of how fanfic-y it is compared to Super? I mean, if we're reallyy looking at Super: it introduced this whole hierarchy of gods (kami > kai > supreme kai ) for the gods of creation and just here comes this sole king god of destruction and then had one super divine being training them. Then we get other universes, but the first one we see is basically a copy of Universe 7 their Saiyans and all messing up the power scaling even more. Hit was cool and unique, though. Next, we learn the angels are all siblings, with the Grand Priest above them, and then there's the Omni-King who’s got super-strong bodyguards. Then came the Zamasu arc: an evil Kai and a 'bad Goku' plotline? fanfic vibes everywhere. And don’t get me started on the Jiren 'OC insert' memes. and then the moro arc with a whole angel fighting with the mortals. And the god of destruction vegeta / angel Goku vs Ppl using the dragon balls to be the strongest in the universe all of a sudden. Kakumei has its fanfic moments, sure, like the Mother of Angels, but it's building on Super’s setup. A Saiyan king and giving vegeta a saiyan army? Makes sense, the universe saiyans are just sitting around in canon. The Tuffle-Saiyan hybrid was fanfic-y ill give ppl dat, but the idea of Goku being captured and needing rescue was refreshing at the time before the meme. Besides its edgyness Kakumei just expands on plots Super sort of teased or just let go no where.(Like with most of the characters focused on right now or 17's whole Wish in general.) Most ppl argue Kakumei has been better than Super’s post broly manga. 🤷
I think you're too critical on super to boost DBK. Super has some great things like Broly, Moro, jiren, granola and some more but its still very flawed but the manga makes up for it if you mix them together. DbK is better to me but Super is still pretty cool if you mix both manga/anime. Jiren vs Goku was literally TOP(pun intended) anime fight material… DB does that in general tho. People can't follow fights like the GOAT Akira! I love how they treated Gohsn under the jiren!!! The imagery and context is a chef's kiss to Gohan
For a DB fan takin shots at Toriyama call it lazy or the usage of Goten and Trunks seems a bit disrespectful. Super deserves it's criticism though. I never heard anyone have an issue with Gohan potential boost in Namek or any other power up shenanigans.
dgaf about toriyama's respect lol, even him always was annoyed by dragon ball and yall kept him stuck with this work while he wanted to do so many other stories
This manga is always my example of a fanbase refusing to outgrow their childhood. Dragon Ball is a action comedy shonen made for japanese pre teen boys. This hyper violent take is a desire to "age it" WITH the aging fanbase. Kakumei is trying to be Dragon Ball for 30 year olds..
The Gohan portion of this video made me feel a certain way, your choice of words along with the music accompanying it all really resonated with me. The sick art in Kakumei only enhanced the vibes too, especially at 9:01. It was really well done! By the way, what’s the song that plays during the Gohan section? I didn’t see it listed in the description.
I followed it for a while and it's an interesting project, but it doesn't really have the whimsy or the tendency to make fun of itself. So it doesn't "feel" like Dragonball.
@@maliksyv6056 First, my opinion that I wrote above is purely from objectivity. I will give some examples for this discussion. 1. Design, the "simplicity" of the character design of Dragon Ball that the author of DBK failed to convey. Even SDBH which is only for fanservice still captures the "simplicity" of the character design of Dragon Ball. 2. Paneling, I know imitating Toriyama Sensei in this field is impossible because of how good he is. But at least Toyotaro Sensei developed in this context, while the author of DB?. 3. Tone, even Toyble's DB AF still feels like a natural extension of GT, while DBK doesn't feel like a natural extension of DBS. 4. Taoism/Daoism, the author of DBK didn't even write DBK from a Taoism/Daoism perspective like the original. For example, like the difference in the concept of egoism in the Western and Eastern worlds. 5. Genre, "Dragon Ball" is not shonen in the traditional sense. but rather falls into a "Wuxia" genre, that's why Ki/Chi is not a "power system". this is what the author of dbk didn't realize. actually there are many other problems but it seems like it's just a matter of the lack of "western" knowledge about "eastern" philosophy.
@@thoni9084 I can definitely see what you’re saying with these criticisms and I totally understand it. However, when making this video it was focused on the concepts and ideas introduced by Dragon Ball Super that I enjoyed when picking up this work and why I think it’s a worthy sequel. While it may not take on these aspects that you bring up in the same vain as the original which I will agree with it addresses different things more central to the characters in the universe as I explained in the video. I can agree it’s tone is definitely different from the original but I can’t really hold anything against the art because if they want to make it in their own style I think they have every right to. This story is a character focused one. It puts Goku in a position where the characters have to rely on themselves for the most part something Super didn’t do. It gives Vegeta growth that felt exceptionally natural. Offers the Earthlings a role better than Super canon and give Gohan natural progression. It gives more characterization to the characters from other universes as well and the other erased universes they introduced. Again while this series doesn’t fill everything you brought up and the storytelling can have an edge to it at times, I don’t discredit for it anting to do something different which is something Super does. Dragon Ball to me has always been a story with darker elements and serious messaging to it with a relatively light tone that balances it out. I think that is what makes Dragon Ball so good the ability to balance those two aspects so perfectly and what makes Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball. Overall, this story focuses on something different. It focuses on concepts introduced by Dragon Ball Super and extends on them. Whether you see it as Dragon Ball or not is perfectly fine but I believe it inherits the characters from the original pretty well and gives them unique struggles to deal with which balance out the more serious tones something like Super had. I appreciate your explanation for your complaints which I respect and believe some are definitely valid.
@@maliksyv6056 the simplest problem with dbk is that what the characters do in dbk is only there to satisfy headcanon and not act as close to the original characters as possible. as a fan made comic with interesting ideas dbk certainly has them, but to blatantly remove the "poison" from the characters in the original is clearly missing the root of what makes dragon ball an art form that is accepted worldwide.
@@thoni9084 I definitely see what you mean but in comparison to the extension given to us in super I do see it as an upgrade. It’s natural that this headcanon stuff would be a part of this fan work as well. None of the characters feel too out of character for me and the story rationalizes why they get somewhere and how they go about things. I don’t think they betray the characters’ “poison” per se but sees the arcs they’ve undergone and try to show how post TOP life is for them. How long does the “poison” need to be in the characters? Can they not be more than that “poison”? Does the “poison” define who they are? This story in a way tries to answer those questions. Gohan wants to find a compromise with his studies (granted not much is shown so the point is moot). Vegeta can show respect to another saiyans less powerful than him because he has respect for what the planet values. (This reminds me of Vegeta’s growth shown in the Morro arc when he saved the Namekian child). Krillin having his setback when looking at his uselessness in the wider story post original Dragon Ball and deciding not to fight initially with a few other examples. Something reminiscent of his hesitation pre ToP. If I’m wrong about the “poison” you’re referring I’m all ears on what you’re talking about in specific but stuff like Vegeta taking charge of the Saiyans on Sadala in the way he did is something I see as pretty reasonable considering what he never had. (Him powering up to grab Caulifla’s hair was stupid ngl, also not too much a fan of her characterization at all. Like she’s a gorilla or something no pun intended).

I don't say this as hate; I don't understand why fan mangas are placed on such a high level.. it's just fanfiction, essentially. I'm sure its entertaining but its hard for me to get into them cause non of it matters
Look at it this way, when thinking of a piece of fiction why does it matter at all? It has nothing to do with reality or anything that would affect daily life. It's just a story that doesn't matter. However, fiction can move you. It can change how you view things in life if you indulge it's world, characters, etc. Fanfiction works in the same lane but in different ways. Seeing different people's outlooks, talents, or messaging they choose to emphasize in a story that has already ended or is being told can be refreshing. It can give you a new love for a piece of fiction because of the people it's touched. That to me is why fanfiction is very important and does matter. It's a testament to a person's love for a story that I like, enjoy, and/or love. Yes in the grand scheme of things they don't matter to the canon, however, to a fanbase it is a creative outlet to demonstrate love for a story and by extension the author's work.
I don't like the story and what happens in it at all. It dosn't feel like Dragon Ball to me. The Art is fantastic though and i really respect Poisson Labo's work.

Gathering what I did from the conversation I had with one of you guys in the comments and the reasoning many of you offer I can see the points you makes and that they are valid.
He did renounce it in Z. It was pointless
@sky-oq5mr No, he didn't.
He only accepted that Goku was better than him. You can accept another person is better than you at something but you can use that as motivation for yourself.
That isn't the same as renouncing.
Yeah but Vegeta’s character definitely regressed in DBS from what we seen in Z at the end of the Boo arc in regards to his rivalry with Goku.
Man I miss pre 2009 Dragonball when it was just the shows and four forms. Give or take the Yo son Goku special

@GoozyGang Maybe if it strikes me. I upload what I want and as of rn, I got a schedule written down for what I want to upload. I had an idea for discussing the possible Frieza redemption after seeing TotallyNotMark's most recent video.
Agreed! I had the same thought, I doubt the writer wrote that.
specially since uni 7 has one of the lower planets with life counts. high likelyhood for most planets to be deserted.
I see a lot of people in the comments saying that Kakumei just isnt what original Dragon Ball is, and I agree
However, one look at the artstyle should tell us that Kakumei ISNT trying to emulate Toriyama, its trying to be its own thing and expand on the lore in its own way
Is it edgy and serious? ofc. But does it neglect its characters and storylines? Absolutely not
I think some of these fan mangas fail to capture the humor and the feel-good vibes of reading dragon ball that Toriyama brought
To me is so simple as:
if its not made by the original creator is not good or interesting.
non of this fan made mangas or mini comics are interesting. Is just not.
That's my opinion.
I don’t understand where this comment is coming from. Isn’t Vegeta’s whole arc on Planet Sadala about him channeling the more wholesome and feel-good vibes that Goku had to find purpose and lead the Sayians? This series may have brutal fights, but to say that it’s completely dark and entirely depressing is disingenuous.
kakumei is comical at times and adventurous and fun.

The story actually moving in the background also makes the world feel much more alive.

Just binged it. I'm absolutely floored how great it is. I prefer this to everything that's come out after the Broly movie.
I didn't know fan mangas been around since the start of the original series. That's amazing.
Nah I want it to be canon IT IS canon in my head
@@halftimebeing6401 I agree I'm not the greatest fan of the super manga, I still personally like it more than Kakumei as a canon story. I'm not saying Kakumei is bad at all, it's a great fan story, but I'll still take the super manga over Kakumei every day of the week

2:55 Goku can sense life on planets (90% of planets don’t have life)
Yeah Ik
The biggest downside I found with Kakumei was that since there’s more characters then ever to focus on that it felt really scatter brained reading it, especially when only a couple of them really went anywhere.
Definitely at times o found myself lost in navigating the story and the pacing in some places is rather poor
It's only starting out though, likely we're gonna see Gohan, Goten, and Trunks' perspectives for the next arcs.
It reminds me of those big DC comic events where there are like 6 different comic series related to the same event, and the only way to truly understand the story is to read everything. I don't hate it, but it can be annoying at times.
The art is just beautiful, it looks beyond amazing
Db was so important To me in my childhood that I can’t be critical of it it’s great listening to someone that can and yeah super lacks I a lot of places but gives us good moments too
Definitely man, I respect you can acknowledge that you can’t critique it which I feel the same way about certain shows myself.
I’d like to ask in what way the fan service is crazy?
@TheWazzoGames because the story is just things fans were begging for. Like a war with the gods and beerus vs goku again. I mean the list goes on. Fan service isn't just tits
So it gives fans what they want is your only issue with it? No actual objective criticism?
But ofc kakumei is still peak and frankly… better than canon lmao
pretty sure kakumei started the same month ultra ego dropped in the manga

@@husariuspl117we’ve had plenty of high stakes db fan mangas you should be used to this by now 💀
Here is why: It doesn't feel anything like dragon ball, it's too edgy and serious, it just doesn't has any of the lightweight stuff that made Dragon Ball what it is, it feels like it was made by and for people that only saw edits of the rare times Goku was serious and Mandella Effect havers
That wouldn't be a problem, really, the thing that pushes the camel out of the ravine is that people keep acting like this is what peak dragon ball is, saying it's better than super, yada yada yada, when the only thing Dragon Ball on it are the characters and setting.

Like them killing off Cheelai for Broly’s power up, or Vegeta knocking Caulifla out cuz she wouldn’t shut up.
Also…
>Constant Callbacks to Z: I get the bringing back Frieza argument, but Broly and Cell Max are legit separate characters… Broly is also an entirely different and better character from his Z counterpart.
THEY FRIDGED CHEELAI?

Great video. 👍
One issue with some fan manga's is that they restrict themselves to the material the series is familiar with, they don't seemingly tend to introduce many new concepts all together and instead work almost only within the already established concepts
My only problem with kakumei is that I feel like things like ue, granola, Moro Beast Gohan etc could’ve had so much potential for cool concepts in db Kakumei but they stated there not gonna add any super content after dbs broly into it
When I first heard of Kakumei, I thought "Oh just another edgy DBZ fanfic with mid writing that the fandom gonna endorse anyways and then forget abt it in 3 weeks, cuz its mid."
Now years later, Im happy that I was wrong.

Specially after the anime ended
I can see that too and I do agree the writing at times does get too outta hand especially dialogue
The fanfic feels like a fanfic!? 😱😱😱😱
@@sebastianuglyrat You know exactly what I meant by that, goober.
@@gelatogremlin Not reading all of that.

A wOrThY sEqUeL tO sUpEr, While it doesn't capture the essence of "dragon ball".
Define the essence of Dragon Ball from your perspective. I wanna know what you think.
2:40 most planets are barren. Goku used barren planets.
Yeah I know
@@maliksyv6056 Sorry for not understanding the joke. And thanks for the clarification.
@@eiric6958 don’t worry bout it bro bro. I appreciate you watching. It was like a half serious half joke thing so I understand why you can get wires crossed.
@@maliksyv6056 😁
Story and pacing is alright i guess
Art style is a miss sometimes its okay but it still looks off and certain panels are so abysmal you can barely tell what your supposed to be seeing psss *broly getting enraged*
And the gore is to overused and to abundance compared to how toriyama did gore this is basically like. Jjk or aot with the amount of gore its almost annoying
Tbh the story is kinda meh but I really love the art
GT in a nutshell.
cuz the official work is BAD and toriyama didnt know for YEARS how to write correctly Dragon Ball since Cell's Saga
Lmao no it isn’t. Why is everybody so convinced that dragon ball is meant to be a pretentious edgelord fest?
Because Kakumei is none of what you said. Explain how it is edgy in any way.
Too many growing up watching constant AMV to nu metal that make them think the show was just fights
@@richborn6700 Kakumei is a lot more than just fights.
Where can I read Kakumei?

I don't like the story and what happens in it at all. It dosn't feel like Dragon Ball to me.
