As of late I wanted to finish some smaller video ideas I had brewing in my head, so now that I’ve finished this little gauntlet of mine I can move on to the bigger videos I want to make.

@@TahjPollockyea cause shes a little kid with insane power that clouds her mind. I understand vegito is in the right about feeling that bra is a monster but we can't place all the blame on bra. vegito being snarky and cocky and having that underlying fear of eventually getting surpassed is the reason she turns out this way. Instead of having patience and nurturing his daughter he chooses to push her away and tells her constantly that she's only alive cause he lets her be and that one day he'll kill her. It's actually really good writing if you look deeper into it. It's masked behind the fact that bra is too strong for her own good but if you read between the lines you see just how insecure vegito is about being the strongest cause even when it isn't about bra, you see it in other scene where vegito feels like he has to be the center of attention or strongest in the room to feel validated, bra learns that way of thinking from him.

  • @godzillakingofthemonsters5812
    @godzillakingofthemonsters5812 3 дня назад +113

Also there is the fact they retconned what actually happened in order to give Bra more sympathy. Babidi didn't snatch her up in her sleep, the original story the comic is drawn too has him promise her power and she willingly agrees, but unlike Vegeta she completely surrendered to his control. Vegito's reaction is also pretty justified, you gut your own family members just to prove a point after years of her being just as volatile a monster as any of their enemies. By all accounts she should be put down. Multiverse making Vegito a massive asshole is the overall weirder thing since they're not consistent with it at all.

Bra also can't just hide behind the excuse of the Majin Seal made me do it since it's not Mind Control but Malice Control. So an example would be that she already had a desire to kill Gohan that the seal simply dug out rather than implanted. One of the U19 troopers was also a target simply for having unspoken feelings for another so even a positive thing like that can be a vulnerability if any desire is distorted enough.
Another major problem in the aftermath about this whole thing is that it has now rendered the character redundant as of now. From what I hear, Salagir needs to always make sure the Tournament proceeds but this particular event I think would have caused it's cancellation if we are being realistic. On a rewrite if I had to have the Majin Riot be a thing, I would have finished the actual event and then do this while it no longer restrains the plot itself.
I've also found another fan comic of this where Gohan, Videl and Piccolo were not revived leading to U16 being disqualified and Vegito ended up disowning Bra as a result of her carnage. Might be more interesting since it's first whole chapter is done.

    • @Naruku2121
      @Naruku2121 2 дня назад

Yeah you're right Babidi's magic technically isn't a mind control thing. It just digs up any existing malice in one's heart and brings it to the forefront and amplifies it. In other words she only fell to it because she had those desires to begin with.

I get what they're trying to do, but canon completely kills any chance of redemption Bra could have.
Vegeta, when he turned into a monster, was _so_ powerful Babidi's control, even at the start was tenuous at best, and then he just broke it completely by powering up to the very limit. Bra shouldn't have a problem with that, given her massive power is probably bigger than Vegeta's.
Also, for Babidi to control someone's heart, that person has to be _vile._ I'm not talking just bitterness in general, I'm talking someone who has done heinous things in the past.
Vegeta met the requirements because he was literally a space viking who wiped dozens of innocents with a callous grin.
I honestly have no fucking clue what they were even doing with this arc, except just trying to make Bra cool and edgy.

The whole thing is a hot mess. Bra being strong make sense to some degree because of her being a offspring of a fusion(not really) but everything else is a giant no. Her getting off with what is essentially a slap to the hand for digging in a cookie jar is completely unacceptable. She WILLING allowed herself to be controlled for power. She murk multiple people and was willing to even kill off her own family so she is 100% the definition of an evil character.
And the whole thing with Vegito is a giant awful attempt at damage control due to the sheer backlash that manga had during that run( i was there with each page release and the comments were ruthless) Like come on Vegito would NOT be like that. Disregarding the very poor conclusion to the Majin Bra arc entirely the main thing that made me drop Multiverse was Vegito’s character. Like honestly I don’t get it, they turned him into a platinum rank, tier-5 tweaker for no reason 😂 a whole entire spaz that crashes out when things don’t go his way, it’s just crazy. Threatening your clearly unstable and unhinged daughter with death? Neglecting her too? Just being a massive ass in general? Who is this guy?!?! This is Saiyan saga Vegeta level. Not my Vegito at ALL!
I’ve heard that whole Vegeta not giving up his pride with the speech and it negatively impacting Vegito but I personally don’t see it because 1. Vegeta was most definitely already mulling on stuff like this in hell. 2. Vegito is a person and has both their memories so he should be able to work through that development himself, especially since half of him is one of the most humble and down to earth people around. It is an interesting path to take but I didn’t like how it was handled at all, half the time it just feels like they hate Vegito. Not to mention him just being irritating the majority of his screentime as well. Nice video too, some Bra slander is appreciated since the story seems dead set on absolving her when’s she’s done basically nothing to deserve it.

The Vegeta that fused with Goku to become this version of Vegeto hadn't let go of his pride and acknowledged Goku as "Number 1" or redeemed himself
that all happens in the Kid Buu fight after they de-fuse, which this Vegeto never does - and Goku's experience with training Gohan would have been virtually the opposite of what Bra needed, Goku was trying to get Gohan to release his anger in the first place so he could tap into his power - he actually didn't teach him to control it, something that really bites him in the ass during the Cell Games (Gohan tormenting Cell and drawing out the fight - leading to Goku's death)
I think killing yourself isn't as easy as you might think - killing the others is pretty nuts (especially loved ones), but if you understand it in the context of growing up knowing you have the "status quo balls", it's like an internal excuse to "cut loose" - but I think a literal manifestation of trying to convince yourself that you are justified is really interesting
But I can acknowledge that I have to do a bit of mental legwork to arrive at that conclusion - I think your point is a good one, there could very easily be a parallel universe where she just killed her counterpart instantly.
I also don't love Vegeto's characterisation at times - I feel like he ought to be a little more carefree, sometimes it's like he's 85% Vegeta and 15% Goku - he's also recently becoming a bit of a "Worf" character, gets defeated or overcome by some means every few chapters to show how threatening other characters are to his detriment.
Bra was controversial long before the whole Majin Revolt ark honestly, just by virtue of being an arrogant female character that was stronger than the main cast in a medium that is consumed by a good amount of maladjusted men - and to be fair some of the criticisms were legitimately compelling like your own, either way though the writers really gave themselves a tough job that I think would have had to be immaculately written to be satisfying to most.
I love the comic and have been following it for almost it's entire run though - DBZ was hardly without flaws either - and I think Multiverse gets at least 2 things right for every 1 thing that might miss the mark, and that's pretty dang decent if you ask me.

I would say I liked Vegito’s characterization because of his constant protecting of the universe. As a result of being the strongest and having that responsibility that would bring out the more impatient and stubborn side of him that just wants Bra to cut it out. Essentially in the very classic saiyan way, he wants to control her anger by getting over it and focus on the task, effectively trying to ignore the problem and solve it at the same time, not affording her the time to learn and grow or even reflect.

There's a theory that Vegito will be the final villain or antagonist, BUT I'd love it if Goku and Vegeta from Uni 18 heat Vegito and weakened him to a point where someone could use the Dragon Balls to unfused him or destory the potara, and the punishment was that he was no longer the stronger warrior in his universe, and both the Goku and Vegeta post Buu have to go through some redemption and fix how they treated their daughter and try and fix what occurred with their families too.

Haven't seen it with downright murder yet, but the pattern is there. Bra not going for her alternative version's throat while having her "oh fuck" moment is pretty realistic, and honestly... I could not agree with you more. When they handed Bra's actions a 'Get Out Of HFIL Free' card (except for Pan), I stopped reading and have never gone back. I mean, they had her brag on the pages themselves that she was not brainwashed - she was 'freed'. Even before this, they turned both sets of Gotenks into her doormats and turned a practical dislike of SSJ3 into a mantra - to the point anyone who uses SSJ3 auto-loses. Damn shame, because otherwise, I enjoyed this take immensely. All fanfic authors have opinions - in my ATLA, I redeemed Mai's parents but took Toph's to task - but for DBM, they chose the wrong hills to fall on.
    Pan-16: I'm glad you lived, Bra-San.

Just wanted to add - looking back, I recall other flaws - the SSJ3 hate mantra was off-putting, but livable - it just made the stories predictable when SSJ3 was used. The 'villains win out' alt-scenarios weren't always the most creative - spam a technique and they win, exceptions being Frieza and Cell, which fit their arcs. I wonder if the super-supreme dark mysterious dude story ever panned out. But all those other flaws were the kinds of things you accept when reading a fanfic.
But in the case of the Majin Rebellion's ending, the author twisted the story to make his original, if canon-possible character correct and blameless, and that is a major DUDE NO! I once thought enough of this series that I did a one-off short 'Elfen Lied Multiverse' (Yes, I'm an EL fan, I know many are not, so no comments needed). But now? I can't even bring myself to watch a You Tube synopsis of DBM.

I love the concept of a spoiled brat becoming extremely powerful only to be defeated or humbled entirely. (Kinda like Hal/Titan from Megamind) because it briefly shows who they really are underneath. Vegito never taught Bra humility, and since she was born from the strongest mortal in her universe at the time she would of course be a cocky prideful asshole, my issues lie with how far they take her getting angry or her killing people than not getting a proper punishment or consciousness FOR LITERALLY KILLING MULTIPLE MEMBERS OF HER FAMILY.
They could've done something like instead of having Bra just murder everyone she probably willingly lets Babidi control her the same way Vegeta did in the Buu Saga so that she can stand up to her dad. Salagir completely fumbled with justifying Bra’s fall, and tried to make it seem like it was all Vegito’s fault, their backstory proves it’s not the case. It’s like Salagir forgot that Vegito actually did preach control, and even took Bra on his space copping duties to learn about protecting the universe.
The fact that she allowed herself to fall to majinization, when the likes of Vegeta and Cell can break it just shows how weak minded of a character she is.
“You thought I did it willingly? How low is your opinion of me..”
Uh, actually, Vegito assumed you were perfectly fine and would’ve handled Babidi only to discover the slaughter you did, including to your own brother (Vegito’s son)

I agree with you for the most part. Bra should be held accountable for her actions. She really needed more time to develop and the weak-minded critique is something I'm divided on. On the one hand, that's her character flaw which is supposed to be fueled by her inferiority complex that she's had since childhood. On the other, this weak-mindedness and inferiority complex is so poorly handled. The whole Vegito judgment party nearly made me drop the story in its entirety, it's that bad to me.
I'm not gonna say Vegito is the best father because I really don't think he's the best, I understand the point of making Vegito his own character, however, I believe both characters were handled poorly. I can't see Vegito dismissing his child until he's helped her control her explosive power.
I also do not see Bra's character and years of emotional issues being resolved after one big, albeit traumatic, event and a conversation that doesn't address her issues but just acts like they are resolved.

i think the alternate bra getting through makes sense, who else can judge you most but yourself, how often do you think of your life and other paths you could have taken, wondered what might have been if you did X instead of Y, and then one of those other paths actually comes forward to say you messed up. itd get through.

It's not that the concept doesn't work, it's that the writing team didn't follow the logic of the rules they set themselves.
Despite the main series making it clear that Babidis magic can only take you over if you are truly evil, they decided to change it to "Oh you have a little evil? Complete mind control"
Bra showed no signs of weakness, regret or compassion at any point. Then her alternate version who she could have easily murdered calls her weak, it breaks her entire mind control which according to their own rules, should not be possible.
They specifically say Vegeta could break through because he wanted to be given power, but because Bra didn't she should not have been able to. So either she actually is evil and the entire scene defending her is pointless or the writers are so focused on making Vegito the bad guy and Bra the victim that they don't even realize how many writing mistakes and illogical statements they are making just to get to the payoff.

All of a sudden, Bra's characterization throughout the story makes sense.

I don't really outright hate or like Bra, but I still think she got off too easy. Not saying she has to die, but she should of been disqualified from the tournament instead of conceding against Ghast. Her taking this timid selfless high ground approachJust feels jarring after her rampage and her general personality prior to that onslaught.
I don't know just hearing her being disqualified showing her consequences of her actions, and her choice in choosing or having to accept that with the weight of what she done denying the main thing she wanted to do there; it would start her character growth more sincerely than the route she actually took.

Figured I should weigh in on this, I've been reading Multiverse for the past 5 - 6 years. A good amount of character perspectives are done better with the websites Novelization version and the U16 Special Novel detailing Vegito's life until the Multiversal Tournament. It gets you into Vegito and Bra's headspaces and makes all of their actions make far more sense. Sorry for the freaking essay dump but all of the details are needed to paint a full picture of both Vegito and Bra.
To explain Vegito in Chapter 17 of the U16 novel was conflicted having his own fullyborn child. While he viewed Gohan, Goten, and Trunks as his sons he felt somewhat distant from them, closer to a step parent in a sense so when Bulma propositioned for another child to Vegito he was both eager but also anxious for what that meant as a he was fearful of how strong a hybrid of his blood would be and he was scared of the possibility of that child becoming evil if raised wrong. He consulted with Android 18 and Elder Moori about becoming a parent and determined that he wanted a 4th child.
Despite those conversations he was a flawed father, in the Multiverse Novel on page 159, Vegito is also clueless on how to truly help his daughter with her self control, as Vegito is scared of his own psychopathic lapses of control in desiring a new challenge that he sort of leaves it up to Bra to figure it out and only steps in when she goes on tantrums. It's made even worse by Goku's nobility in him, he swore to the Kai's of Unvierse 16 that he would be the Universes greatest defender, preventing all potential dangers to the point where the common people view Vegito as a god.
That said he also took Goku's bad traits, that being his desire for a challenge. Chapter 20 of the U16 novel he genuienly contemplates tearing apart earth, Videl, and a newborn Pan to get a real life or death fight from Gohan because he was so bored and at the time Gohan was 2nd only to Vegito. This is made worse by the Vegeta in him. In U16 Vegeta never threw away his pride, while he was willing to become permanetly fused with Goku he nev had the chance to acknowledge his own faults and mutual respect to Goku like with how his counterpart U18 Vegeta. Meaning he's insecure about his own power which is why he was jealous of U18 Goku and Vegeta unclocking Normal Super Saiyan or how in the Novel's he was wary of Buu potentially training and surpassing him.
Bra like any child would of course pick up these nasty traits and habbits from her dad. She views herself as a goddess, the daughter of the greatest hero in the Universe and the younger sister of the 2nd strongest as she looks up to both Vegito and Gohan. This made her desire to grow strong but overtime she grew insecure about not reaching Vegito or Gohan's level, which is how she unlocked Super Saiyan. This is compunded by Vegito trying to help Bra in the Time Chamber, Chapter 161 of the Multiverse novel Vegito tries to coax Bra into going Super Saiyan again after she first transformed. Vegito take sthe same route Goku did against Uub to coax out his power, Vegito shamed her by calling her an embarassment and weak which while it did get her to become a Super Saiyan again but it only furthered her insecurities and unstable mindset that reached it's apex when she went SSJ2, killing Goten, destroying the planet, and making the star go supernova. The reason she's so apathetic to all those deaths is because she believes all Vegito wants is a strong daughter, the moment she proves that she is worthy of his care he tells her he's going to kill her if she gets that strong again with the Chapter 159 of the Multiverse Novel detailing that she was fobidden from going SSJ2, meaning no one helped her with her self control again and Vegito gave up on her.
Now for Bra: Oncemore the Multiverse novel version helps Bra out far more. It explains that under normal circumstances she could've resisted Babadi's Majin Mark, but the trauma of switching bodies with Ginyu along with hatchiyack, the embodiment of evil mentally taxing her even further left her vulnerable both physically and mentally to where Babadi could take her over. Factor in the sheer drunk high she was in to finally controlling her SSJ2 state and her worstened Saiyan traits being passed down from Vegito.
The reason the U18 Bra stuff works better in the Novel is that it isn't a talk no jutsu situation, the two argue and fight. In chapter 159 of the Novel U16 Bra yells about how her counterpart is weak and spoiled meanwhile U18 Bra tells her counterpart that she has Bulma, Gohan and the Son family that love her, that death isn't just some Dragon Ball day trip to fix, and even U18 Goten jumps in to sympathize and help her. The passive line works far better here as well, to take the exact words from the novels version: “Then that’s even worse, you didn’t even try to resist,” Bra spat, crossing her arms. “You didn’t bat an eyelid when you killed Gohan, who was ALWAYS considerate of you - and you’ll never convince me otherwise! You allowed your mind to be taken over, you conceded your heart to a darkness that, through you, committed absolute atrocities! So no, madam “I am the strongest”... You aren’t the best, you surrendered, you handed yourself over. For all your great strength, you just gave in. You’re completely passive.”

  • @burnttoast.2017
    @burnttoast.2017 3 дня назад +9

I think the issue here where I have to disagree harshly is in regards to her not killing the alternate reality version of herself.
The reason she broke free from Babidi's control is because that version of Bra was basically saying everything her surpressed negative thoughts were, a little voice the back of your head acknowledging your flaws and your problems that Babidi managed to surpress with his mind control and bring all of Son Bra's issues to the forefront in full force. For all intents and purposes, and all their different personality traits, Son Bra is still Bra. They are still likely similar in thought processes at least and even Majin Vegeta was able to resist Babidi's control.
It's not about consistency when it comes to Babidi's mind control, it's about circumstances. Vegeta was able to resist his urge to kill Goku to take out Majin Buu. Bra was able to resist the urge to kill Bra because Bra is her.
Vegito also isn't the one we see in Super. He's fresh off the Majin mind control and is before he gets rid of his inferiority complex. This will carry over the fusion and frankly we don't actually know what Vegito's personality is like outside of battle.
Do I think Vegito should have went for the kill? No. Do I understand why he did? Yes. Power on the scale of Dragon Ball is incredibly destructive, you simply cannot lead to the destruction of a solar system to unlock a new form. Son Bra is a lot more Saiyan then any of the other Half-Saiyans and seems to have taken on their worst traits. The comparison to Broly is accurate.

When thinking of this story, I thought about Majin Vegeta's decisions, and I was divided on what my take would be for this character. Rereading the battle royale and looking at how she took down her older brother I just couldn't see her alternate version being the reason she breaks after everything. I still think it was a good decision to have her break the trance of her other self, and the explanation you provide is good too. Hearing about killing yourself from an alternate universe is hard, yes but I would argue killing your blood brother who's watched you grow up and spent probably a lot of time with you that, possibly more than your own father would, has to be way tougher in my eyes. Yet, she does it without flinching.

    • @burnttoast.2017
      @burnttoast.2017 3 дня назад +5

@@maliksyv6056 This is exactly why I think she does it without flinching is that she KNOWS him well. That can have a lot of complicated feelings that can surface in violence imo. She knows exactly what he would say and is prepared to hear it.
What does she expect to hear from Bra, though? Pleas for her life because she's so weak. Fear. A weakling with no power.
She failed to remember that just like her, she had Bulma's fierceness. She may not have the power to back it up, but she has the nerve of a woman who slapped a God of Destruction without hesitation. She didn't think Bra was like her in any respect outside of appearance.

I had been reading DBM nonstop since probably before 2016. Read every chapter, followed every new page the day it released, etc. The outcome of Majin Bra made me completely drop the series and never look back. Ironically, if the writers never did a 180 and went, "She's the real victim here...", it could've been fine. Vegito was extremely hard on her, she had a history of outbursts, a heel-turn via Babidi made sense. But to say that the character who just SLAUGHTERED most of the cast INCLUDING her own family without a SHRED of remorse or pity was only stopped because she got TALK NO JUTSU'D BY HERSELF FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSE? AND THAT WE SHOULD FEEL BAD FOR HER???
Seriously, imagine that. Any efforts by her family and peers to snap her out of it fall on deaf ears and she kills them easily. But main universe Bra yells at her, and suddenly, she regrets everything and the Majin seal is gone. Gimme a break...

  • @inyalgaico1563

I Agree her ending iS LIKE OH MY GOSH DUDE i complained about this when it first came out
She murdered an entire solar system earlier already and then Vegito already made it his duty to to protect the universe. He's bra murder so many of the multiverses contestants and somehow he is the bad guy? I Agree that they should of stopped him from killing her because wether its goku or vegeta i dont care a father killing their own child will fuck them up for life. They could of had the kai's say they have seen enough of creation to know that his heart means well but it would be the wrong thing for him to do given his state of mind
. But her being "understood" is like waaaaaaaaay outta pocket. I Think they should of had her either die and then come back and go to some weird version of limbo/hell Or the reason behind her madness actually explored. I always felt it was a broly like situation where there is a natural madness coupled with something that keeps them going into the deep end..Wether its Z broly (Which was poorly done) or Super broly (Which is must better done)...
But she is a genocidal mass murderer and all she got was a pat on the back for her actions and a "she understands" her ways now like no she don't
I Think vegito not being the best father is somewhat ok due to the fact that goku despite understanding gohan when he was teen didnt really fully understand his needs until the cell games...and Vegeta despite being better can still be stubborn. I think the overconfidence of vegito and currate that scenario but its not really ever shown other than the one line of "You dont get that power and not lose some compassion" which seems more like a remark to be broken and deconstructed than to be adhered to
When goku and vegeta fight in ultimate potential unleashed forms. Vegito is pissed rather than elated to see that his individual parts reached a power that could match him on some level without needing fusion. it would be a good place for him to realise his complacency and how he could of messed up with bra but instead he just hides into himself
Reminds me of that one fan manga where beerus revives cell to push gohan and cell kills pan and shit before gohan crashes out and kills him and somehow Goku is ok....Vegeta justifies it as gohan needing to be better EVEN THOUGH HE DOES NOT LIKE FIGHTING and Beerus telling him to suck it up and Gohan (Despite getting stronger) just takes it like i hate that shit so much its just injustice to the highest degree and removes value from the motive of the story

Sure, his Legendary Super Saiyan lines are memorable, but what is his logical thinking besides of "I want to destroy because that shit rocks"? He's evil, pure evil like Vegeta described the legendary super Saiyan to be. He couldn't even form proper sentences until he finally broke his chance, killed the main that put him in those chains aka his father. It's a deep story for dbz broly. He saves his father from king vegeta and Frieza but losses control when he unlocks ssj as a child and clobbered his dad. His dad thinking this mf is going to destroy everything like the legends states, so he puts some restraint on him. This causes even the dad to be corrupt because he can have his son do whatever he wants now so he gets drunk off power while his son is miserable. Personally I feel like even Goku would have a hard time forgiving what Bra did, she lost control of herself and transformed and in the process she ended up destroying an entire civilization that was under Vegeto's protection as well as killing her brother Goten and later when confronted she seemed like she didn't really care about any of that. Then later she gets mind controlled and goes off to kill even more people including Gohan who was one of the only people who was there for her and yet even he wasn't spared. If Goku apparently couldn't forgive Raditz for kidnapping his son then I don't see how Goku could forgive actual Genocide from within his own family.
As for Vegeta I can see him wanting to prevent his own children from committing the same mistakes he did and would harshly come down on such behavior. Like imagine if Kid Trunks was to destroy a city or something during the Buu Arc, do you think Vegeta wouldn't come down hard on Trunks for that? So to me it makes sense that both Goku and Vegeta within Vegeto wouldn't exactly tolerate their precious daughter becoming a heartless monster who feels nothing as she ends the lives of entire civilizations or even her own family.

Instead of the person evil in there heart is intensified, it should have been changed to something like the higher the emotions or stress the faster you become either a mindless solider or slowly lose your mind and become crazy. I think something like this would make the character killing family members make a bit more sense without all of the controversy. I also think if they added a scene were vegito is about to kill her but hesitant which would flash back to vegito telling her he would kill her was more a tactic to scare her from doing anything evil or reckless. To say Bra was mind controlled is wouldn’t be accurate. More manipulated. Because babidi’s “Mind control” only enhances the the evil that’s already within you. It’s still you doing things that you always wanted to do for the reasons you wanted to do them.
There is manipulation that convinces the victim to serve Babidi. However, as we saw with Vegita, unless Babidi’s shock collar method of control is enough to force them, the victim won’t comply if they would never bow to babadi’s will. This is why he promised Vegita his hearts desire in order to get him to comply. This is reforced after when Babidi realized he couldn’t control Vegita at all after he gave Vegita what he wanted.
This is why when Vigeto decided to put the blame Bra, he not wrong to do so. Since he’s coming from a place of understanding of what’s it’s like to be influenced by Babidi.

  • @AstraSilverhorn

I'm going to sound contrarian here but...
I think Vegito's characterization is actually very accurate. Remember that this version of Vegeta that makes up Vegito is still not there yet. He did not come to the revelation that he was truly wrong nor did he finally admit that Goku was number 1. For this Vegeta, he had just finally come to terms where his emotions and allegiance lies: to his family. He learned to put aside his own wants for the sake of others because that's the right thing to do. However, he was never humbled by Kid Buu and SSJ3 Goku. He's still a cocky asshole. Remember: Vegeta watched that fight and had a long moment of self reflection and got humbled by Goku. He finally understood why Goku was always stronger and why he is number 1 during that fight which is how Vegeta is able to fully become good and move on. Remember that even before this he was trying to Rock Paper Scissors Goku for the chance to fight Kidd Buu. He didn't have that final mental maturity push until after the fight against Kid Buu.
Because Vegito never had that experience with Kid Buu, I can still see him being a cocky asshole that wants to fight strong guys even if the stakes are kind of high (see goku and vegeta RPS for who gets to fight Kid Buu instead of fusing again). Vegeta hasn't mentally matured while Goku is a flat character meaning for Vegito to be more heroic and a good understanding father, Vegeta needed to fully changed.

He'd just do his own thing. That wouldn't be so bad but yeah Bra just confuses me. she feels like the modern day Hollywood take on "strong women": over powered, always has to make the problems about her and her only flaw is she can't control her power. Not compelling at all and Vegito must suck as a teacher if he can't help his daughter tame her power after all this time.

This kind of event is what happens when you have a story be told over years and years of development rather than on a regular schedule with short intervals, which is understandable given the amount of effort it takes to create something this grand with no time or money to really put into it. As time goes and the story develops, new things come to mind or there needs to be innovation and new stimulus brought up.
I will admit, this section of the story as a whole was probably my favorite of the entire manga given that it had some of the best looking shots and actually put emphasis on the whole character flaw with Bra, which was her obsession for power and validation by others. It makes sense to me that she would be so unstable given the environment she was forced to measure up in, not to mention having both Goku and Vegeta as a father is easily one of the worst things imaginable, even as far as fictional universes go. A lot of people don't truly understand how awful a fate that could be, it's one thing with them both separate, they had eachother to always rat on and contest against, but now that they don't, there's no telling what kind of mental fortitude it would take to grow up as Vegito's blood child and be expected to perform just as well as him, if not better.
But this arc, as much as I loved it, had flaws, one of which you pointed out quite clearly. In all honesty, Bra should have fought more against Babidi's control before she fell into it, and the death should have been kept to a minimum, if not 0. Dragonball has unfortunately made death such a trivial concept in story telling that it feels like the only way to truly create an intense and despairing situation, or in other words, high stakes, is to callously kill people off left and right to show how much of a threat x or y is. When in actuality, that is furthest from the truth. I wish they had done better with Bra's arc here.

this is the most thoughtful analysis of bra I've seen. The comment section page to page just ranted about her being too strong or bratty. Like yeah man she's the combined child of the two strongest figters in the known universe raised by the ritchest smartest woman alive. She is literally the kid of the two most important people in the world of course that would lead to some behavioral issues especially if vegito as portrayed here is as short tempered as he is.

2:50 I want to highlight a minor error here. At the point that Vegito was born in the Buu arc, Vegeta had not yet come to terms with his Pride issues or understanding Goku's self-improvement mindset. It was a Vegeta who had just finally fully accepted the fact that he loves his familly, but his grudge against Goku would not be resolved until the fight against Kid Buu.
So I've actually always liked that that facet was still within this Vegito. It's a fusion that loves his friends and family, but has an internal disconnect between what the point of power is.

To be honest, I LIKE the concepts Salagir introduces. Vegito being flawed and unstable, similarly to his daughter - he isn't evil, but it should be noted, that the Vegeta we got to make Vegito, had only JUST GOTTEN OUT OF HIS MAJIN PHASE. Vegeta was STILL a somewhat flawed individual, he STILL had a long way to go (I don't like Super, but it's something to consider that it takes a while for us to see the level of peace in him manifest, over the course of years, multiple arcs. Think the namek saga of super; can you see post-majin Vegeta being ready to take on that responsibility?) - and then there's Goku. This was a Goku that was finally able to explore his more selfish Saiyan nature without much regrets, without much hindrances. This is a Goku with his worst traits amplified, and developed upon further. Vegito isn't a bad person - he's just unstable. The side-stories/novelization adds to this, with Vegito struggling with his marital life and other children, identity issues in relation to the world; general mid-life crisis with lack of purpose and PLENTY of biological issues (like the food shortage).
So then we have Bra. We have his daughter becoming what she is so early on, not because she's dealt any abuse, but because the fundamental instabilities that come with being a half-saiyan/half-human DEMIGOD, with somewhat callous and haphazard parents and/or home life to SOME degree, thus resulting in her empathy being stunted. Bra displays a possibility for exploration on a deeper level, of the saiyan-human dichotomy; she is flawed in the manner of both human nature, and saiyan biology. And that's GENUINELY INTERESTING. I just think Salagir kinda retconned too much to make this happen, and didn't actually flesh out Vegito's issues, while Bra's were taken to lengths of cognitive bias and imposed judgements for us to provide her that levity. It is a DAMN GOOD IDEA to be sure, but I think the entirety of the series would need a reboot, a revamp of some sort, in order to have it all come together just right - The story needed to START IT ALL OFF with not just implications, and presentation of certain ideas, but with a clear vision in mind.
That, and this is a dragon ball fan manga, and there's certain level of intelligence you come to expect from the viewerbase.

While I can see your point as far as morally grey characters being difficult for some to fully get behind, there is a difference in the controversy of a character's ethics prompting discourse and challenging conversation and the controversy of a character who is frustrating due to inconsistent writing. Bra in this comic is mostly a point of contention because even when it feels like we have gotten a good feel of what she's got going on as a character, she behaves erratically in ways that don't make sense, even in terms of her own chaotic nature.
It makes it feel much more "Mary Sue"-like than simply having a complex character, which is very unfortunate because while at this point it is a compliment that has been stripped of any real significance, it is absolutely true that she had so much potential going for her.

The art is gorgeous I’ll admit. At times.
I do dislike their take on GT (as they hate that series, though I respect if they’re not a fan of that series) and the writing later down in the story just seems edgy for the sake of edgy.
    Or badly executed.
I’ll admit I actually love Bra/Bulla Son’s design. The tank top and sport shorts is very appealing design. And I enjoy that the two universe Bra having different tastes is nice to separate the two.
Vegito was done dirty too. The way they place him on a pedestal and how he acts in the Majin Arc… yeah.
I don’t care if there’s novelization versions of their backstory. It feels like damage control.

Huh I always liked Vegito here. Alot of other Mangas I see make him and Gogeta kinda like these perfect characters that are meant to be powerhouses cause thats how the actual series treats them (they only last like 30 min-1hr in canon). How would this Vegito act if its fusion wasnt the main event the DB series treats him as especially with fusees without those full characters arc and Vegitos own experience pass that in an environment where he isnt top dog?
Vegito is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off especially when things dont go his way or that he is judge jury and executioner. The talk after the Majin Bra thing to me wasnt saying Vegito is totally wrong but letting Vegito know that he isnt the end all be all nor does he have the purest intentions in mind as he also has the potential for the same "crashout" moments like Bra. The apple doesnt fall too far from the tree. The situation was over and I genuinely feel like this "punishment" for Bra should come from Gast cause its feels like he has more wisdom than Vegito. Killing Bra as punishment (as Ive seen from others) is just relieving her of not only consequence but change as well and imo is just kinda lazy.

Her character arc isn’t paid off because she doesn’t even overcome it herself the Bra from the other universe pushes her to break free with one conversation. Not to mention that when she’s meant to reflect on the darkness within herself it’s turned into a Vegito bad guy moment which I address in the video. Bra was essentially a mess of a character that gets more credit for stuff she didn’t do for herself by the story and writers in my opinion. This led to so discourse about the character and if she was good or bad in the community when the chapters initially came out. Out of all the characters found within the work she’s drawn the most conversation regarding her character arc. Hence the title.

It feel like people really doesn’t know what fusion really is or in that matter Son Bra. Vegitto depicted in the series is quite good. Being a fusion for so long, he would’ve developed a personality different to that of both Goku and Vegeta. Think it like cooking, if you put two ingredients into a cooking pot, it won’t taste the exact same of both of them but something new. This Vegitto is stagnant, not having anyone to bounce off, his personality and everything about never change. I would go as far as to say this Vegitto might not even be that stronger compare to his Buu saga self. This is further emphasized when Goku and Vegeta reveal their new state and Vegitto being suprised on how they achieved it. Son Bra listening to her self in the other universe is also fine. Bra and Bulla are the same person but different timeline. I would be more include to listen to alternate self them some random ass RUclipsr giving me tip on thing. I find the issues that people have with Bulla in multiverse to be massively hypocritical and tone deaf.
For one: These are the same people that act like Vegito is the strongest character to ever exist in Dragon Ball. That if Vegito never defused Beerus and Whis would need to fuse to stand a chance (which isn't even remotely true. Not even realistically close to reality) but these people will say all this about Vegito and then be surprised that Vegito's daughter is just as strong as they say and not stronger. And will endlessly complain that she's a mary sue when we've seen her train with Vegito and Gohan in the story before and has had to deal with Vegito's abuse multiple times during her developmental years and has been shown that she is indeed weaker than Vegito in the story. He's the one keeping a leash on her the entire time.
I just don't know what this community wants or expects. She's the daughter of a fucking potara fusion. Did they expect her to only be as strong as Namek Frieza or some shit? She's got the DNA of Goku and Vegeta flowing through her damn veins. To expect anything less that what we've seen just leads me to believe these people have no idea what they want.
