    Keeping a 1X on a higher mag scope is always going to be a compromise until they perfect digital optics. I'm leaning towards using a 1-6X with a damn good 1X and a simple BDC for general purpose use, and something purpose built for a dedicated precision rifle. Atacr 4-16X, Leupold 3-18X, something in that range. You can always slap on an offset red dot to compensate for the lack of a true 1X, that's probably better than gimping your higher magnification performance for a shoddy 1X.

    Just another video showing 2-12 is the true spr optic master race. A highly visible Reticle at 1x on the bottom end is just too much of a compromise for having a usable Reticle on the top end. Either the 1x works well or the max works well, can't really have both unless you do the dual focal plane thing. 2x min magnification allows you to have a small but still very visible Reticle and 12x can still be thin enough to make precise shots. Plus you get the benefit of having a larger objective lense so you have a brighter image for longer, and you get the larger exit pupil.

    This would be a really good scope for Quantified Performance matches, it still has the 1x so it gets around the 8.5x rule. I am always watching Jimmy B's QP vids and he's got that LPVO cranked to the max and his scope cam the targets are just in the mud. I know some of that is an artifact of where he has his scope cam focused, but it's really hard to get over how bad the downrange image quality is. Optics are always going to be one of those places where features are going to drive demand and price, it's interesting where features are starting to catch up with price.

    • @BrassFacts
      @BrassFacts  10 месяцев назад +2

      yeah this is a excellent scope for that type of shooting.
      But I'd argue shooting matches very often do not stress optics clarity since targets are all often just bright white.
      It's hilarious to do mid range 200-300 yard matches and all of the people with shit magnifiers just time out because they can't see the target in the shade

    • @highdesertdrew1844

I found that myself with 3,4,5k scopes for long range also gong from 36 to 24x for example because it can be annoying shooting for long periods of time without being able to move at all because of the exit pupil issue at the max end.

      @@BrassFactsEveryone wants to see the comparison with the March SHORTY 1-10, but I want to see a comparison/review of the lesser talked about March COMPACT 1-10. On paper it seems like the best execution of this magnification range at least. It has a slightly wider (~10%) field of view angle, which theoretically should help out with the eyebox. It sticks to just Second Focal Plane, instead of their more complex Dual Focal Plane, so it's "only" $600 more than the PLX-C. If I were considering this or the PLX-C in the Nova SFP reticle that's launching soon, it would be a tough decision. Again, all theoretical because everyone is only interested in the Shorty and there's almost no reviews of the Compact.

    Maybe you have answered this before, but if I wanted a variable magnification scope and all I cared about was it has variable magnification and its low-end magnification works as close to a red dot as possible on normal range trips, what would you recommend? No consideration for weight, price, high end magnification capability (4, 6, 8, 10), NV capability, adjustability, durability, reticle options, illumination, parallax adjustment, or even the lowest end magnification being a perfect 1x. All I care about are those two factors with no other "it depends". I know I'm pretty much asking "Which of these Gas guzzling off road SUVs is the best at cruising through a mall parking lot" but great low-end magnification capability with a variability option is what I care about most. And I do not want an ACOG with a red dot or a red dot with a magnifier

    Basically everything that is not made in China or in actual German speaking countries (i.e. top end model lines from Zeiss, S&B, Swarovski, top end Kahles, etc) is made by LOW (Light Optical Works) in Japan. (Yeah, ok, there is IOR and Meopta, but still) Almost all higher end optics that do not have "Made in Germany" or "Made in Austria" on them are made by LOW. The weird overpriced Trijicons like the 'TARS', PA Platinum series, Vortex Razors, Athlon Chronus, the most expensive Sig Sauer optics, Eotech Vudus, all of them, the lot of it, by all the brands, is made at the same place in Japan. That is why they all look similar and have similar features and performance.
    What sets Delta apart is that they tend to deliver better designed (albeit not perfect) products at a significantly lower price than the other LOW made products that other brands put their brands on.

      Check out the SuperSetCA best lpvos video. Delta/credo have top tier japanese glass, the credo has a reticle you can actually use without illum, but both of the fiber models of these are very bright, and are lightweight. Credo vs pst the credo wins out all day, its such a pleasant optic. The reason i mention both these optics is that theres a lot of theorizing that they’re the same oem and glass

    Since 1-10 is the extreme in an LPVO where it begins to stretch itself thin since physics is a fickle mistress, will you do a review on the opposite end of the spectrum? Swampfox came out with their tomahawk 2 1-4x LPVO, and marketed it with an emphasis on it being the most forgiving 1x they have engineered, or something to that effect.
    People will be dying to know if this is an option that brings that near-red dot performance the trijicon TR24 is known for with a side of magnification while costing less than 500 bucks the way the stiener p4xi used to.
    I'm of the opinion that viable red-dot-analogue-LPVOs as you call them is a small neglected category with few options thanks in part to feature creep, and a push for more magnification than most civilians will ever need.

    I still find the bottom wind holds on the tree of most scopes rediculous. Who is using 7-10 mil wind holds? Unless you're shooting in 50 mph winds or 25 mph winds at say 2500 yards, 99% of users will never use these dots and therefore they're practically useless and should be removed.

      well that's my big issue with 1-10x LPVOs, they demand a huge objective, but huge objectives majorly fuck up 1x performance (see all of the >30mm objective LPVOs)

    • @nenadg3665
      @nenadg3665 10 месяцев назад +1

      IMO, that's not LPVO anymore. LPVO has to have main focus on 1x and needs to be fast. If you need 10x magnification and parallax setting, you don't need LPVO.
