  • With the market for 2.5-10x being basically 5 scopes. One of which cost $1500. And the rest being a series of compromises.
The GLx 2.5-10x comes out as one of the "least compromised" option. That mostly understand what the end goal of one of these scopes might be

I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well. With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings. For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance. For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.

Again, just an opinion, and another option in that magnification range that I agree is kind of the sweet spot for the intended role

I had one from the first production run. Got it on sale for $450 after they sued by Leupold for some of the turret design features and some cosmetic issues. I loved the steel on steel construction, glass quality and tracking. I had an Athlon Ares BTR 2.5-15 FFP and had to decide which to keep. The Ares was a touch clearer, but it had noticeable chromatic aberration with darker colors. It was noticebly heavier, too. I kept the GLx.
I did end up selling it. I had to help fund the purchase of a Benelli M4 barrel. It was on the shelf. I had replaced it with a Vortex Razor 1-10. I do miss it though.

Bought the Raptor version for a bolt action build. Honestly most of us are never gonna shoot past 300 yards, let alone 500. This magnification range is perfect for most people. 2.5 is fine for close work and 10x is adequate out to a 1000. Sure, a higher magnification range is good for punching paper, but for maximum versatility and functionality I love this magnification range. I went into their store and tried out the reticle before buying one. The reticle at 2.5 VERY visible, that reticle takes up whole scope at 10x.

I realize that this is a late comment, but I got the GLX 2.5-10x for my "field" rifle. I actually sold my 1-6x Razor. I guess I got tired of the compromises. Anyway, that little issue that you mentioned with the hash marks lining up was driving me crazy. Yeah, a touch of OCD. Instead of trying to force the cap, try this. When you set the zero stop, take note on the red collar that engages the click button on the cap. It is anchored at a single point and allows for a little play. What I did was, when tightening the (red) zero stop collar, put a bit of counter clockwise pressure on it as you hold it up. Then start tightening at the set screw opposite the anchor point. This lined up the hash marks for me. Enjoyed your review. Your and Hop's comments lead me to try it out and went with it instead of the PST. I also had a bit of trouble with the Chevron. I just zeroed using the 2 mil hash mark and dial up 2 mils when I want to use the Chevron. I'm gonna use it like that for a while and see how it works out.

I wanted to ask with the expanding introduction of LPVO with 1-10 FFP capabilities for a general scope used with 5.56 or 308 for run and gun and shooting out to 1000 yards would those be a better option than the 2 or 2.5 to 10? Their tubes are more narrow, so, maybe they are more limiting in terms of image brightness and maybe that is sufficient to justify the move up to the 2.5 to 10. I have not had the opportunity to shoot a 1-10 nor a 2.5 to 10 so your feedback is very helpful.

At the 500 yarder I go to It was very easy to transition between the targets without having to dial at all. The reticle does all of the work, and it's brightness was pretty damn good I'll add. So I have a 13.7 with a swampfox Arrowhead 1x10 and an offset red dot. However I love the pa acss reticle as I have a 1x6 on my 12.5, wife's rifle. I'm debating selling the swampfox and upgrading to this, probably the Griffin mil. So you have any experience with the Arrowhead and do you think it would be worth the extra cash and hassle of the swap. Also I have a pa 4x14 acss on my 16 in mk12.

You likely won't see this, but what would your thoughts be on running a T2 type optic on that piggyback set up where you have your RMR? I mostly ask because that would net you am enclosed emitter, long batter life, and in some cases better NV use (from what I understand). There's been a lot of people using T2's over RMR's on top of magnified optics, both variable and ACOG's. This is happening as companies are finally producing mounts for them. It's definitely a viable option and better than an RMR on paper

I ran an NXS 2.5-10x42 for a while. I found the Paralax to be annoyingly finicky. Also, the reticle choices are 15 years old and you can’t lock the windage turret. I think FFP is better in this magnification range but it being SFP was not my biggest issue with it. With some minor updating the NXS could be a real contender here.
