The colours in this video are insane. The water. The fish. The shirt.
I do like that shirt…😆
Doesn't get a whole lot better than that...she said! as you would rightly say!!! Great work,
Great day fishing! If you can build you a little smudge fire. the sand flies will leave you alone or maybe the cigar does the same! Thanks for bringing us along!
Awesome! love backcountry trips the best by far. Thanks for sharing the whole trip, not just the fishing!
It’s SO much more then just the fishing aye bro 👍
A+ for camerawork, content and personality..by far my favourite fishing channel on RUclips...keep up the great work alex👍
This is such a great exposé of classic NZ back country fishing and an epic adventure. So stoked to see you both getting into great fish in a pristine part of the country 🤙🔥
Great video. Nothing beats a good brown
Lost world fishing adventures 👊👍. Man that drone footage at about 9:50 of that turbo charged trout....man that fella as fast.
So cool guys. RUclips's best
What a beautiful place! well done Alex, looking forward for the continued adventure!!
Wow. Just wow. That dry fly eat was sweet! Mate, I'd say you are both good and lucky!
What a day!
Great section of water yet again and great quality fish. Thanks for the content as always, great fish and fishing by you and J.P.! Looking forward to the next one and cheers Alex!
Thanks brutha!!!
Stoked you are enjoying he content 💪
Greetings from Norway. Fantastic!
Fantastic video
Alex, the quality of your videos just keeps getting better and better. You never cease to amaze me. That is some incredible looking water.
Just, wow...
Thanks for taking us on your epic trip. Merry Christmas Alex
What an amazing place, well worth the bush bash!! 😍
Big respect on the dry fly fishing bros 😎
Awesome dude 😃✌️🇬🇧
Sometimes I’m shocked to see how much hard work goes into finding fish in your country. You guys are blessed with mammoth sized trout and sometimes it requires mammoth effort to get them. Even in my best days when I could hike forever I wouldn’t have enjoyed this degree of work to find the fish. I salute your seemingly endless resolve to keep hiking through difficult terrain. Perhaps the reward is in just being there and overcoming whatever obstacles arise.
Well done!
The adventure and challenge is a massive part of what I enjoy about these trips.
Not easy, but super rewarding…🙂🤙
Part 3 dropped like an early Christmas bombshell and didn’t disappoint! You keep raising the bar Alex, with your fishing and ability to capture it on film. How sick were those dry fly eats!!
Amazing great work loved the video !
Awesome man such good content. I like that you also show your struggles and how much effort goes into these fish
Love the water. :) Amazing video. I can't wait for Boxing day. I'll pack my backpack and disappear somewhere in the backcountry bush with a fly rod in my hand.
Anyway, I love to watch the differences between your and JPs' fishing technique. You are absolutely calm when you hook a fish. JP is the right opposite. He is pumped up with adrenalin :D
😂 💯 % right!!
Enjoy your your fishing trip 💪🏻
amazing footage Alex, some of the drone footage, especially of JP,s fish that he lost is brilliant. Fantastic trip in a fantastic part of NZ.
Wicked
Kaapai Al..Tino Wehi atu e hoa ✌️..in awe of you guy's in da out back.nice drone footage n area in general..so you guys 'dropped' a few, dem brownies are fiesty critters n they very seldom jump..but yeah fella's ❤️ it 🦾keep on Tripping on Trout bro 🎣🤙✌️Kia Ora 👍😜😎 cheerz 🍻

Awesome!! Thanks!
The most beautiful piece of water I have ever seen!!!
Full send
I’m a kiwi living on Vancouver island in Canada, if your ever over this way my partner and I would show you our favourite spots!
You are killing it with these videos. I actually appreciated the fact that the last video didn't have much fishing in it, it made this one have more meaning. Great work!!
Awesome video all the best from Scotland
Epic trouting. Are you seeing much insect life on these rivers? What do the fish key on? Also, who makes these great black and grey hoodies you guys are wearing?
17:52 is just perfect. The scenery the position just perfect
Amazing back country, amazing river, amazing fishing, amazing fish, amazing footage. Amazing.
Thanks so much!
Stunning Alex. Loving the slow motion casting and surface chomps. Can feel the tension and excitement. Top work. I’m thoroughly enjoying following this trip vicariously. What beautiful water. Insane.
Thanks so much, stoked u are enjoying it🤙
Incredible, stunning !!! Every time I say that's the best video ever you surprise me. Can't wait for another one ! Thank you very much !!!
Another fantastic video Alex 🐟🎣🐟🎣🇦🇺🇦🇺🏴🏴
Aye, there be monsters in size and heart in that wilderness!!!
You are making some really nice videos. Right up there with some of Mike's videos, and Trouboynz's. Well done.
I'm praying they will open back up to tourists by December. My last trip was mid march, but we did get some to take cicadas. Every R is a bit different, all are fabulous. Out west in the US we have a Skwalla stonefly hatch in some of Montana's rivers. Looked just like a NZ hopper. Good for dry dropper, but using a coachman, classic.
Thanks man 💪
What a beautiful place to fish. Great video. Love the underwater shots.
Makes me feel good to see the experts lose a fish now and then ; - )............some pretty tough going there. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this trip. Cheers
Wow!!!
I really enjoyed the part3. Thanks^^
But do you remember the way you came~~😂
These vids are awesome!
Thanks man👊
Film festival quality imagery, and you’re still catching fish, well done!
Awesome man, thank u for the kind words!
This adventure has been great to watch! Lots of action, fantastic footage and that awesome soundtrack!! Keep it up if you can!!! The editing of the sequence beginning at 19:33 is magic!!!
The scenery shots are outstanding. The whole video is awesome. Keep up the great work.
What a place, excellent footage, the drone shots are out of this world.
Loved this series it’s really some of your best work.
Awsome adventure Alex, enjoying it as always, keep rolling!!!
I love the shots in the first couple minutes, beautiful! Absolutely amazing location and great video work! For sure a bucket list trip.
Great video bro you certainly worked bloody hard for those spotted buggers…. The camera can never do justice to how steep some of that country is. Well done loved the footage
So true mate….the camera DOES lie😆😆
Tiger country all round but such a good trip!
Epic stuff guys! Very enjoyable despite waves of jealousy coursing thru the nether regions...
Outstanding as always!!👌💪🏻🥃🤙🏻
Love all the shots from above, awesome! Another stellar day, very nice especially after the trek to get there. 👏🏼👍🏼✌🏼
Absolutely love your videos Man! You bring them to life on my TV... absolutely love it!
Cracking content as usual. Love watching these videos. I have so much more exploring to be done......
Don’t we all!!
This is your best video, brilliant
This series has been wild and adventurous and incredible. Your hard work is greatly appreciated by many. And it’s safe to say you indeed have a few friends buddies and pals. And You’ve been watching a little mike Kirkpatrick lately haven’t ya 😉
Thanks bro. Appreciate that.
No I haven’t been watching anyone….I actually don’t watch any other fishing channels funnily enough!
Another cracking good video Alex, great fishing, great scenery, great video Mate
congratulations boys another masterpiece, footage, tracks just perfect you have made made my day thank you
Beautiful!
What a cool place😍.. Great video👍
Nice series on remote fishing Alex. For the benefit of our younger viewers I think it would be good to cut out the smutty comments though. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely great video, you guys look like professional athletes chasing after those fish. I’m sure the whiskey taste mighty fine after a long day of fishing!
Great edit and stunning browns!
Amazing footage, the walk in and around the gorges would have broken me
I recently discovered I can link my phone to the tv 😅
Watching this on a 50 inch screen is unreal 😂
You really out did yourself with this video. Absolutely stunning photography and fish.
Thank you for sharing.
Way better on the big screen aye!!
Man New Zealand is on a different planet!
I wish I were that fit again. Great water up there. You've certainly earned those fish. Can't rush those browns to the net though. Must have been a buzz getting them on the dries.
Great one Alex, beautiful fish and environment and what a hard slog. Bet you lost some lbs on that trip. Looking forward to the next vid. Thanks man.
Is it just me or does everyone else miss the old into, (friends, buddies, pals, how ya doing…) also great video Alex, your new videos always get me motivated to go out for a fish 😊
Just a great time! This film (not a video anymore) is different in such a big way. I don’t know about filming at all. But the look and sound and editing is just spot on you’ve gone from little vids to short movies. Well done alex. Been watching for a long time and will be as long as your putting these out. Thx for all your work
Alex your videos are so amazing, hi quality artistic masterpieces! Your filming, editing, B roll and music choices are so amazing are so enjoyable to watch. I particularly like your backcountry adventures and camping trips like this series. I am always amazed at how consistently amazing your videos are. Your up there with Todd Moen in my opinion.
Thanks so much bro.
So good to hear that you enjoy them so much. Keeps me fired up to keep trying to up the game!!
What a vid! I think you should consider approaching Orvis about a documentary on NZ wilderness fly fishing... You know how serious they are, so think about the right gravitas, ecological or otherwise, to weave into it ;)
You think the content is worthy..?!! Thanks so much👊
It absolutely is worthy - easily the best fly fishing channel on RUclips. Don’t be bashful Alex, take it to the next level, and get Orgil to give you a solid budget and enough time to make a stunning doco.
Good luck!
Hi Alex. How u both doing. After watching another priceless vid by u. When u move. Are u going to set up camp where u stopped up river before. 🤔 . Wow such another untouched pice of real estate. Water so clear .the bottom matches all rhe colours of those epic browns u both were catching.lol. l hope u both well.and still have plenty of grub.lol lol I would of ate it all by now . All that walking and fishing and fresh air gives a man a hell of an appetite. 🤣🤣🤣. Can't wait for the next installment......goodbye friends ,pals, buddy's.......
Thanks man, last part on weds!!
The 1st scene I was expecting to see the paramount pictures logo to pop on screen. This video is one of the best of yours for sure. Stunning mate, keep em coming....that's what she said 😎
I feel like you talking about the fish running at 14:00 is me when I fish a spring creek catching a 14 inch fish on 7x line with a size 22 fly using my 7.5ft fiberglass 3wt rod. I feel like I hook one and they take off and there’s really not much I can do but hold on for the ride
Brilliant alex. How many of those samdflies did you end up eating lol?
Just a couple hundy or so..
This is sick, but when does the kingfish footage drop tho?
Hey Alex - found your channel about six months ago and can’t stop watching! I’m fairly new to Flyfishing and I’m learning so much from your videos. Also I’ve gotta say your filming is fantastic and I’m always waiting for the next one to come out to enjoy. Keep up the great content.
I’ve noticed you carry the Fishpond submersible lumbar pack. I have one as well but I have a problem with it and wondering if you have the same. I don’t like wearing the shoulder strap and wearing the hip pack without the strap the pack wonders it’s way down and over my hips and eventually slips down my legs. If you have the same issues would love to know how you remedy the problem. Good fishing and Thanks in advance - demos
Stoked you enjoy my channel man, thanks heaps.
He answer to your problem is Squats and Deadlifts..!!!! Get your flutes bigger and it won’t fall down 😄
Sick stream! I always enjoy your videos. There’s some good arguments against wearing gloves when handling fish. I see you wear them and wondered what your thoughts are?
🐟🎣👍👍💮💯✌🎌
Hi Alex what a pleasure to see your video .. Can I ask you if you are in north Island or South Island?
Dude what’s that chimey bells an vocals tune at 9.02 sounds lovely mate ?
Water amazing. The underwater releases have never looked better. As to the strength of the fish I guess this is typical of the rock and stone catchments that have a lot of fall on them. They beef up the muscle swimming up through those gorges. Great bang for buck. What scotch you drinkin bro? Weirdly missing from your extensive gear list 🤪
BTW, I watched a fascinating RUclips video recently that was produced by someone who was studying the effects on fish from wearing the types of gloves we all wear for UV protection. They had a larger trout in a tank and with time lapse photography they demonstrated that by holding a trouts tail with gloves it removes enough of the slimy coating on their skin that over several weeks the fish was covered in bacteria and would die soon as a result. I think I saw it on Fly Lords as I recall? Food for thought.
Certainly Interesting stuff aye. I would argue that the conditions in those rivers are very different from that tank tho - I have seen and caught the same fish on multiple occasions over the years and have never seen any Indication of disease or issues due to those gloves.
That said, I do agree with you and only wear those simms gloves when the South Island for protection from sandflies.
Agreed I’ve caught the same fish more than once and didn’t see any issues. But it was interesting for sure.
@@jeffbrooks8288 Def not ideal to wear those gloves I agree with you bro but I don’t think it’s an issue as long as they are wet and handling is minimal etc etc
I don’t wear them in the north island
Hey Alex (or someone else who knows), I noticed you said in the beginning of the video that there's point going to the river in the early hours. Trout in the Northern Europe are the most active (usually) in early and late hours. Is this not the case in NZ? I do understand why you would want to wait for the sun to come up for sight fishing purposes, but I'm curious whether the fish act differently back there? Is fishing in twilight pointless in NZ?
No not at all pointless bro. I’m speaking purely from a sight fishing perspective
@@TrippinOnTrout Gotcha! Cheers for the reply 👍
Nice fishing man! Reframing that slightly - I'm on a nz wife fishing road trip for a year now. Presently around Reefton at the moment if you need a fishing buddy, heading toward Karamea sometime soon. Just back from a big mission up Waitahu, word has it you were here recently?!
Back up north now bro.
Hope you are doing well down there!!
Great video Alex! I loved the underwater shots and of course the magnificent browns. You mentioned sand flies in this and some other videos. Are these biting flies or just nuisance bugs? We don't have those in Colorado. I lived on the East Coast of the US and fished in the Adirondacks. Early in the Summer I had experience with black flies which were small biting flies in enormous numbers. I remember seeing an angler leaving the river in the middle of a feeding frenzy with blood trickling down his face from all the bites. Though fishing was great, due to the black flies he threw in the towel.
G'day. I hope you don't mind someone else replying, but yes, they are tiny black biting flies. They are in swarm proportions in that part of our South Island. I'm not sure what they bite when humans aren't around - but they drive you silly as soon as you step out of a vehicle etc. Sounds similar to what you experienced. That's mainly why Alex and his mate are wearing clothing head to toe in what is our summer - as well as for sun protection from our harsh sun.
@@thor_6886 Thanks for your response. If I may ask for clarification, you wrote: "They are in swarm proportions in that part of our South Island." Does that mean they're only in certain parts of the South Island? Besides clothing, do you also need to use bug repellent, such as Deet? Also, are they seasonal? ( Sorry for all the questions... )
Bad timing I’m WORKING!!
I know. I’ve said this of your previous movies, and been wrong before. Many times, I admit it. But this time I know I’m right THIS TIME. It absolutely cannot get any better than this. Sad, actually, because that means it’s all downhill from here.
Thanks so much! I’ll try keep surprising u..I intend to keep improving
Broooo please take your gloves off when you handle the fish pleaaaaase! You have an awesome channel with so many people watching you please be a good influence in catch and release practices 🙏🙏
First and foremost bro, I totally agree with you that gloves are best not worn and I generally don’t BUT in the South Island the sand flies are THAT bad that you just have to.
Also, All gloves are not made equal and those Simms sun gloves are the best I have found so far with minimal material on them that, as long as they are wet, there doesn’t seem to be an issue.
I have also never seen a fish suffer from any sign of glove related issues (in NZ rivers) so as long as good handling practices are employed, it seems ok.
All that said, I don’t wear them anywhere else.
🤙
Bad timing I’m WORKING!!
Go take a 26minute poop and when back, make eye contact with anybody that questions your actions with a glare.
Well your in for a treat when you get home, it’s a banger video
