Imagine being black and seeing Qc3 ... you go through a range of emotions "what is that" ... "oh no" ... "I have to resign" from a position you thought was fine. Brutal when that happens to you
Vahap is a good friend of mine that I've known for many years. Moves like 16.d5 are his nightmare. As soon as I saw that move on the board, I knew it'd be a very uncomfortable game for him no matter what the engine eval was.
Hi Daniel, thanks very much for your great instructive videos. Could you just turn the board for us, if you give us a questions, what the black should play? Thanks.
What a tricky system and Qc3 is totally unexpected. The long diagonal battery is pretty common but somehow I haven't seen this version before, giving up the pawn and just lining up the queen like a sniper. Brilliant trap!
Nice to see that game and nice to see Matthias Bluebaum win. Played in a simul against him a few months ago (and lost as expected). But what a great bloke he is.
Instead of taking the pawn with the knight which is a bit dangerous if black not careful ,can black play re8 to kick the knight out and that is also prepare bf8 if necessary so that black will be safe on the dark squares?
Nxd5 both prevents Qc3 and clears the problem piece off the long diagonal, so it seems very obvious if Black is alert. I suspect the innocuous nature of the opening caused Black to neglect to ask "What could go wrong here?" which should be the first question in any position.
The correct defensive line is maximal counterintuitive for humans, this is a computer analysis, right? Because you would not exchange/move away the 2 pieces that can defend the black squares around your king.
THE ROOK SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYED TO E8 FEW MOVES EARLIER, THEN THE KING COULD HAVE ESCAPE RUTE OVER E8 TO D8, AND THEN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TRULLY OPEN GAME. I MEAN HOW CAN A JUNKEY LIKE ME SEE IT, AND A 2600 GRANDMASTER NOT??? SOME TIMES CHESS ASKS DIE THE MOST EASY SOLUTION.

Daniel, always thanks for making high quality analysis

He's one of the biggest online cheaters :)
@@d3eztrickz Is that claim based on facts or are you just talking out of your arse?
A very fine sudden win from Bluebaum. Thanks Daniel.
Wonderful, even tho short, model game - great analysis

that game shows how vulnerable the king becomes once you move pawns in front of it
Please , show Pilsbery

This opening is flexible and gives white many attacking options depending on how black responds.
Pawn moves are weakening.
