This was sort of just a trip down memory lane, for me, haha. It's probably not smart to release a video that I know isn't going to do well, but I'm doing it more for me and those few people who may be interested.
It's supposed to be "nice" this upcoming week... or so that's what people have told me. I just checked and the 14 day high is supposed to be 6C (43F) Gross ! haha... Looking back at this footage makes me think I should have become an illegal immigrant ... but I'm pretty sure they would have come for me, haha.
@@JoelArseneaultRUclips I hear you, when you know a video is going to bomb because of the seasonality of it but you really really want to give your hard core fans something to watch. It’s though choices to make no doubt about it. I think you should move here for real and just do all the paperwork to do it legally👍
@@JetSkiBrothers Hey, you never know... I'm already a Nomad, 2800 miles from my "home town"... I'm not sure what would be more tricky ... Immigration paperwork or karting all my belongings... What am I thinking... Obviously, the paperwork.
Great collage of clips, it was fun! BTW, I still planned on responding a while back on your CNC video where we talked a bit about my lack of CNC experience. I intended to clarify so I'll just do so here... I actually was a CNC operator in a small machine shop for about a year, basically unloading parts, reloading blanks, checking critical dimensions using a myriad of metrology to make sure parts were within tolerances, adjusting tool offsets as needed, routine maintenance of the machines, and all the things somebody operating a CNC in a production shop would do. I mostly have manual machining experience and is where I'm most comfortable and have zero experience setting up a CNC, g-code, and that whole side of CNCs.
Oooooh ... Okay... that totally makes sense now. I think even a little experience full manual milling gives a person a slight advantage over someone who has never been around machinery ... People often make the mistake of assuming that metal doesn't move or flex (or take this into account when machining for the first time) and can't understand why you don't just make a .040" cut and assume that it will be exactly .040...

Ha! Jacob did a mod that he thinks will suck. Jacob is willing to try anything, and that's why I stay tuned, trial and error. This is how we learn
Yes ! I very much enjoy Jacob's view of the world ... He's very much just about trying stuff. Like "I'm pretty sure I know this is going to suck, but it will be fun and I might learn something"
I had always assumed that this was caused by boredom... but after meeting him, I look at it in a different way. He's never bored because he's endlessly curious about "what happens if" haha. I think he and I are a lot alike.
My boss asked if I wanted to buy an Okuma cnc mill for 500$ the other day. I didn't get it but it probably would have been perfect for you. I probably would have got it if it was the right time.
That's crazy... I'm not really familiar with that specific mill, but I'm guessing that you could have bought and resold it... I checked them out on google and even their small machines seem pretty legit.
Wow, what a steel but yeah, I hear you If you don't have the space, and it's not the right time, it's hard to accept something like that. I really could use a bridgeport if I could find one that's not three grand, or even two...
@@AtimatikArmy I agree... space and time are things most of us don't have enough of.
Also, lol.... Two or three grand seems like a bargain for a Bridgeport... but that's here in Shitsville Canada. Before I decided on a mill, I went shopping at the local supplier the smallest turret head, knee mill they had was $13,900 plus tax. Beautiful machine tho.
