    This is the best video I've seen to date on the TSC 55 KEB, so thank you for that. I will point out two small points. First, the Makita blade is not the same thickness as the Festool. You corrected that by the end of the video, but it IS the same exact 1.8mm thickness as the Mafell, and if you watched the Toolbox Buzz (A Concord Carpenter) track saw comparison testing, the Mafell had the best cut of all when tested against both Festool's 2.2mm blade and the thinner Makita blade (and Festool ranked between them). I imagine the new Festool [with the 1.8mm blade] is comparable to the more expensive Mafell saw now and the gap has probably become even wider when compared to the Makita. Second, the new Makita 40v track saw has the same (or similar) electronic anti-kickback feature. Otherwise, great job! Like I said, it is by far the best video I've seen for this saw. I do have a question. Does the Festool come with both the imperial and metric positive click scale? I have heard different stories on that.

    • @HuntsWorkshop
      @HuntsWorkshop  2 года назад

      The new KEB has a 1.8 blade now, since that video. The makita blade I have is 1.68 mm tho? It comes with a sticker you can put over the imperial depth gauge to make it metric. Thank you for watching and your comments!!!

      I’m curious, are you sure the 40v Makita has some form of kickback tech as the Festool? I’ve read a couple of people say that but when I rang Makita, they told me it doesn’t.

    • @HuntsWorkshop
      @HuntsWorkshop  Год назад +1

      You are correct! I also have the makita and it doesn’t have the kickback stop. Otherwise very comparable saw though.

    Bought the last one in stock at my local woodcraft. Employee said they stay on shelf less than a couple days upon arrival.
    I was holding out for as long as I could for Milwaukee to drop their tracksaw but this video changed my mind. Have an older corded dewalt track saw but like the idea of cordless for portability. Thanks for the vid

    • @HuntsWorkshop
      @HuntsWorkshop  2 года назад

      Depends on what you use it for. Unless Milwaukee has the thin kerf blade and makes a super clean cut like Makita and Festool it won’t be great for woodworking. A DeWalt for example doesn’t have the cut quality of the Makita, but it’s a fantastic saw for a lot of construction projects.

      @@HuntsWorkshop Yeah I think the hardest part is making that decision off some RUclipsrs at Milwaukee's pipeline event demonstration today. Looks like it does have some nice blades available...For the same price as the Milwaukee m18 track kit you could go festool also, but either Makita 40v or festool is me adding a new battery system. Tough call!

    Well done. Very informative presentation on the features of the new plunge saw.
    The blade on this machine is very well made.
    I think I will buy another 6.2 amp hour battery if anyone has that available.
    I think this machine comes with the 5.2 amp hour batteries. I wondered why this was the case when the higher amperage batteries are available.
    It could have a lot to do with air travel with any batteries exceeding 100 watt hour. So tool suppliers had to change their format to suit laws regarding lithium transport.
    This is the reason the hikoki sell the multivolt 2.5 and 5 amp hour batteries.
    As they already have the 4 and 8 amp hour multivolt.
    After having a big portion of my festool tools stolen along with metabo. I have restocked my tools since that time.
    I bought the festool contractor saw ( my second one as the first was what was stolen)
    As I have been saving up I'm in the process of buying this machine.
    I'm pleased I held off till now as I was looking at the metabo plunge saw.
    The metabo doesn't have a rifing knife although it may have other features. It may not be as powerful as the festool. Although do you really need it? Well more power is always a good thing.
    You use common sense when cutting and can make do with any machine you decide to get.
    I seem to steer back to this machine.
    We cannot get mafel and maybe there is no service if something goes wrong.
    Thankyou for uploading.

      Yeah mine came with 2x 5.2 batteries. They do pretty well now that the blade kerf is thinner. You got me thinking I’ll try 6.2 for fun though, I didn’t realize they made them. The riving knife is definitely a buzzword lately, but the keb doesn’t have one either. I do like the safety switch to detect kickback though. Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated!

    Wondering if you can use both the 1.8 thin kerf and also the 2.0 standard blade on the TSC 55 KEB

    • @HuntsWorkshop
      @HuntsWorkshop  Год назад +1

      I’m not positive, I use the thinner blade bc Makita and Festool both went with that to keep saw motor from bogging down. It cuts so much faster.

  • @pazuso

    TSC 55 KEB vs Makita 40V (new)? KEBI-F is a KIT for CAD$1,040. Makita I need to separately buy the track, 40V battery, and charger. Probably the same price! This is a major purchase for me. I'm a cabinet installer and my battery system is Milwaukee M12/M18 so I'm not on either Festool or Makita battery system

    • @HuntsWorkshop
      @HuntsWorkshop  2 года назад

      I had the same issue, was all M18 before, so that’s how I ended up with Festool. The price in USD was only $125 difference with the latest and greatest saw and same options from both.

    You do a good job of demonstrating the machine and its capabilities. Take the rest of my comment as you will -
    Listen to yourself. It’s not every sentence but nearly. Your sentences end with uptalk. That is, they as your speech ends your voice goes up in register.
    You get that under control and you will have excellent videos. 👊🤜🤛👍👍

      If you stay honest, show the positive and what you believe is negative you’ll be very successful.
      Work on your delivery.
      You might consider (and it’s very effective) talking in front of a mirror. Record yourself. Oh yes, it’s time consuming, it can be embarrassing to yourself but you’ll discover a speedy sought after improvement. 👍👍
      Watch the channel Stumpy Nubs. He has a very good presence, demonstration and speech.
      (I’m almost finished)
      There’s a requisite for delivering a speech to inform, to persuade..
      Anyway I really believe you’ve got a knack for it. Your video I watched was pretty damned good. 👊🤜🤛

      I don’t have such.
      I took speech classes in college - they helped me tremendously. That - taking speech classes as it may not be viable - I suggest recording yourself -
      There are numerous speeches to listen to. “FROM MONTGOMERY TO MEPHIS is a documentary of Martin Luther King’s speeches/political life. He was an excellent speaker regardless of anyones political view.
      You have very good control of the substance- it’s the delivery. There’s a fellow - “Stumpy Nubs” on RUclips he discusses various woodworking and tool topics. I remarked to him on his excellent videos. He told me he has/had no speech classes yet his delivery and content are very good. Not having instruction, delivering a good, fun, content filled video can be done.
      Filming yourself is a good idea too.
      By the way - I really appreciate your interest to improve. You have sir (I’ll say it again) very good videos. I believe with the addition of delivery you’ll be very successful.
      I’m always taken with “Stumpy Nubs” content and delivery. It’s well done.
