Thanks for the info in the video. I have interest in the 2.5 ton LMTV and videos on costs are very difficult to find. I would like to see more content on maintenance and the costs involved to help make an informed decision on this being a platform for me.

@nicholasflanders1309 the one year anniversary of me buying this truck at auction is coming up, I'll do a one year cost break down. It will include cost of buying the truck, normal maintenance for the truck, tools I bought, diesel, etc

I bought an Oshkosh MTVR, $8k for the truck, $2k tax title and fees, $3700 to get it delivered to Washington. The tricky part with theae trucks is the incomplete cab, people want an arm and a leg for parts for them due to scarcity. I found a HEMTT cab for $750 and am installing that instead. Just makes to much sense and it makes the truck a COE (cab over engine) frees up a lot of space behind the cab. Also my truck doesn't have it but you can get 6 wheel steer and then they can really make tight corners.

If you need parts or advice from a reputable leader in the community look up Midwest military equipment they are located in Missouri, build gear assemblies for the hubs “highway friendly “ ac bolt on kits, and more

I have been using Midwest military equipment for most of my needs for this truck. If they wouldn't be around I don't know if this build would be possible haha

Hey Sean, I appreciate the comment! Believe it or not, you were one of my inspirations for buying and building this truck into an overland camper. I am pretty sure I watched every single one of your LMTV videos building out Abel. This truck is expensive but this project is years in the making. Thanks again!

Not sure what a good sized crane costs but those trucks are made to be lifted relatively easily so that would be you quickest on off as long as you have overhead access. 1 hour each end. Maybe a delivery probably min fee like $500 each side? Could be wrong.

Use a used Reefer box for the habitat

Im thinking about building out the habitat myself. It will be a lot more work, but I think I will be more satisfied with the roamer build out if I do it.

Love all the insight. All the build videos of expedition vehicles seem to glaze over the costs. Worse yet many are sponsored and don't even explain their costs. I'd love to be sponsored but for a guy with 1 youtube video it's not going to happen. I plan to build on a similar platform. Once I get all the finances in place I plan on putting together a similar video series so there are more resources for "normal diy'selfers" to build their dream vehicle themselves

Thanks again Mike! The goal for this channel is complete transparency. I never planned on being sponsored, I just want to show normal people what it costs to put together an Overland truck. I am not a mechanic by trade either so it goes to show if you have a dream and are willing to put in the time, you can accomplish anything.

@@M2-Expeditions we'll stay in touch! I am also going to start a blog on my build progress. I don't mind sharing any suppliers that I find or ideas. I'm in Calgary so maybe once our builds are complete we can meet up and put them to the test.

If you sell the crane can get some more cash to invest in that beast

Matt, Wondering if in perfect 20-20 hindsight would you do this again? Or would you buy a smaller truck to build a camper onto? Thx!

    • @M2-Expeditions

@maxvanrunkle1052 I still would go with the 6x6. All the people I talked to that got the 4x4 variant say they wish they had more room. I love the size of the truck. The places I plan on going with the rig will be out in the wild and away from the city. I never heard someone say they should have gone smaller, I always hear people say they should have gone bigger.
