    Hi from Ireland. Just found your vlogs, very good work. As a similar aged couple hoping to move to spain this has been a really useful video. I know not exact but the prices are an eye opener.....Ireland and Canada seem not too dissimilar!

      Yes, sadly, Canada has become very expensive to live. Our son just visited Dublin last week, and he also commented on how expensive it was. Hope to meet you in Spain one day! Thanks for watching. 🥰

    It's interesting to see how much things really cost in other countries

    Great video- i did some of this research a couple of months ago (monthly bills) and was laughing at how much cheaper it is than Ontario. The condo fees (community fees) and yearly taxes are hilariously low compared to where we live. Many beautiful places have no fees, 120 euros per year for garbage and 300 euros for taxes. Fantastic.

    Thanks guys most informative. Clearly Canada and Australia sadly have a too much in common. No competition and lots of gouging. I look forward to more on your journey. 😊

    Did you consider including mobile with your fiber? I didn’t and am rethinking it. I’ve done the prepaid SIMs in the past but can apparently add a mobile SIM to our internet service for 5€. That would be every month, obviously, even while we aren’t there. I’m just trying to compare the cost/convenience.

      From what I've read, it's much cheaper to bundle your internet and mobile phone. If you hear of any good deals, let us know!! 🤗

    Besides the cost of living you must tell us that minimum wage in Spain is $1,134.00/month that’s nothing and there is no work in Spain due to the massive population and watch your property taxes if you don’t pay is JAIL TIME

    • @livinlavidacosta
      @livinlavidacosta  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, we sort of touched on that. We mentioned that the salaries in Spain are MUCH lower than here in Canada.
      Here in Canada, if you don't pay your taxes, there are serious consequences as well (like garnish your wages, etc).

      Thing is you can live off minimum wage in Spain, you can't in Canada

      You do know in low wage countries it’s what drives the low cost of living? The average wage in Spain is 2500 euros, people live quite well off that.

      No work in Spain? It's not 1980 anymore. Spain emerged from Covid the fastest of any EU economy and there is plenty of work, locals are obviously given priority as you would expect.

    From what I have reseached it is a bit of a process to move to Spain from Canada and get a residence permit to live in Spain for more than 90 days the Schengen Area? Good for you :)

    • @livinlavidacosta
      @livinlavidacosta  4 месяца назад +1

      You can easily apply for a Visa (NLV, Golden, Digital Nomad, etc...) The first step is getting your NIE. After living in Spain for over 183 days, you become a tax resident. It's a pretty straightforward process, just a ton of paperwork (but worth it)!

    We were renting a home in Torrevieja and in Jan Feb our electrical bill was around €90 p month due to how cold it was during those months. Some nights it was around zero degrees but I assume during the summer it’d be really low. If we did move, our winter heating bill would likely be even more as in the shoulder seasons we’d likely want to heat our pool. What about cost of security? Our rental home in Cabo Roig had an alarm system with rapid response team as part of the contract. We don’t have that cost in Canada. Can you also cover cost of actual move when you do it please. Cargo fares, beaurocracy ,paperwork required etc.? I have a great contact for a consultant in Torrevieja that’ll help you through the government paperwork. She helped me with my NIE while we were there.

      Thanks for watching!! 🥰 We actually purchased a security camera at Leroy, so we don't have any security costs. It was 30€ each, I believe, which is a steal compared to our Arlo cameras here in Canada.
      I suspect when we live there FT, our electricity costs will go up during the winter months.
      We will definitely be documenting all the costs involved when we move to Spain and, of course, a moving vlog! 🙌✈️
