Do you as Canadians are required to pay a high tax as residents ? I understand us North Americans we will have a very high tax, if we live in Spain but we are American citizens. I’m 55 my husband is 59 our dream is to moved to Spain as well, not sure where yet 😊 we been to Barcelona,Madrid and Costa del sol 5x But the tax situation has us a little worried and confused 🫤

I live in this part of Spain and yes life is good, however, i envy Canadian winters and the snow, frost and clear skies, in the uk winters are so miserable which is one of the reasons i moved to Spain. Enjoy the good life.

That is a beautiful town house and in truth, that is really all any couple needs. As you said, Spaniards do not live inside their homes all day. They mainly use their houses for sleeping after being out all night, or for siesta when the sun is too hot to be outside. Other than that, Spanish people spend nearly all of their time outside their homes either working, gathering socially, traveling, going to the beach, etc. I really loved that about Spain/Portugal and other parts of southern Europe, and find it to be very similar when I spend time in the Philippines and some parts of Asia, although it's slowly changing because of western ex pats. Back home in the US and Canada, people need larger houses because they mostly live their lives inside their homes. I think for being 400 meters from the ocean in Spain, the cost is very reasonable! I assume the total cost of 164k euros included the renovations? Well done!

Will be retiring to Spain in 2025 and plan to spend at least 1 year moving around to different areas, mostly in Andalusia and the Murcia area of Costa Blanco, though we will check out your area for sure. We currently live and work in Asia (my wife is Filipina and I teach the US military in Japan) and only plan to go back to the US for family visits (I'm from NY and my family is now mostly in Florida.) I much prefer Europe and hope to get Spanish residency after my wife gets Spanish citizenship so we no longer have to deal with Filipino passports and visas. I spent time in Spain in the 90's and fell in love with the simple and slow lifestyle, and living on an island for 14 years has taught me that slow is best. You guys are doing it right. Enjoy!

We noticed this too. We are a retired couple who Gabe travelled to Spain 3 times, and we spent 2 months in Fuengirola this past February and March. We have booked our rental and plan to return again in February and March 2025, God willing. We are living in Petawawa to be close to our daughters (in Pet and Ottawa) and their families, but are originally from NS. We’ve made some lovely friends from various countries, including Spain, and we also meet up with friends from eastern Canada who travel to the same area and who have introduced us to this beautiful place. Loved watching your video of 4 days ago and I’ll look forward to watching past and future episodes.

Lived in Fuengirola, Malaga province for eight years in the 90s. We live in the Caribbean now, and visit Spain for a few mths. a year. Fun to get back, but not the paradise it was. Really crowded now.

The health insurance company is not well known in Spain, go for Axa, Mapfre, Sanitas, Adeslas, I think you wanted to say Asisa, not bad but notbas good of the others

Nice video! You ll discover that dental insurance is a scam, you ll have to pay an amount that equals the same you pay without insurance, and you ll receive a better attention too. Im any case its not too expensive.

Hi The health care system at Torrevieja is good mainly : I am 57 and i had a operation on my eyes last January. I was operated on quickly and my after care was excellent. Ps I love that walk . One downside of the Torrevieja area is that when summer comes it becomes a lot dirtier which is very sad, I wish these visitors would respect it more ( especially letting their dogs poo) Regards Nerissa Happy walking guys

Have you checked out the tax burdens in Spain once you become residents? They are steep! depending on where you live, buying property or renting can be quite expensive. I live in Portugal and I love the Iberian Peninsula. I love the fact that it has Mediterranean climate, but I come from California so I’ve known this all my life. You’ll find overtime that it is not Paradise.

If you go a bit further south towards Mojacar the properties are a lot cheaper as is the cost of living, scenery and beaches just as beautiful

Best decision you will make health wise.ideal for retirement.not if you want work with no Spanish you will not get a job.ok there are some people have problems with break ins as theives know houses left empty.you need security either in a gated community or have camera's and security doors and grills and a neighbor to watch out for you.canada not for me have a son lives in Barrie Ontario think he is mad too much snow and grief but married to a Canadian so has to put up with it i live in spain love it.think ye would need to get an eu passports or just come and go expensive for ye.rent for a while and see you cannot live on fresh air in spain.
