I've had mine for little over a year now and yes, the fence can be very persnickety. I've adjusted to it so it hasn't been a huge issue for me. Other than that, I love it, especially for the price, as you said. I spent a little extra on a good gauge to help keep things aligned. Always a good idea for any table saw, but maybe more so with this one. Keeps me happy with the saw.
Totally agree with this video. Just moved across the country and had the good pleasure of putting this thing back together again. The fence is just terrible for all the reasons you said, and the two point fence makes it hard to have a good out feed table if you use a cross cut sled. And yes, the wings are terrible too. I will be selling this in the future.
Congratulations on the work. With your information I am making my choices better, prosperity to you. These are the votes of a Brazilian who accompanies American professionals.
Thanks for the video. I actually have this saw and definitely agree with your opinion, the fence is not good. I only started watching these videos after I already had this saw unfortunately. I am a DIY so its fine for me but I probably would not buy it again. I only went down this rabbit hole now to find a better blade, which you did mention so thank you!
I have the same saw. First thing I did was wire it for 220 volt, second thing I did was through the fence out and replaced with different one. It wasn’t for the saw but I only had to drill 1 or 2 hole to make it work. The only other problem I had was the switch burnt out on it. It was $30 to charge it out to a better one.
I was having problems with the torque on cutting. I thought it was the motor at 1st so I upgraded it to 220. But the problem is not the motor. It’s the fence off throwing the wood off and cause pressure on blade. I keep on having to adjust the fence it get to the point of annoying that I have to constantly double check my tape front and back. I have all same issues.
Sorry to hear that! I have learned a little trick to stop the problems with the double point fence. Pull back towards you before pressing the fence handle down, and it will really help with the angle consistency.
Thanks for the update. It appears that the fence is probably the main issue for this saw. I’m in between this saw and the delta. The Delta appears to have a better fence.
Hmm.. usually the beisemeyer fence style just rests onto the back fence and referrences its square off of the front. but if that one is different then thats news to me!
The display delta i just looked at appeared to have a standard style t-square fence that only referenced in the front rail. The backside support rail is there to support and align the extension wings.
I just picked this saw up on clearance for $375. For the price I believe it will be a good saw. I’m not a cabinet maker or anything. Jus the occasional rip cut on various projects.
Thanks for the honest review brother! After 20 yrs, I'm finally ready to upgrade to a better tablesaw, the fence on the one I have right now, sucks so bad, the eyeball method is more accurate. I was seriously considering the Rigid, but after the stuff you pointed out, I just might go with the Delta, just for the fence.
By the way, many people have mentioned in this video that both Rigid and Delta have come out with newer versions of their saws. and many people say they both fixed many of their issues.
I bought a Delta nine months ago such as the one in the photograph. Now I'm looking for another table saw. The Delta's motor gave it up. Trying to find Delta customer support/service has been disappointing. If you prefer the Delta over the Rigid, I guess I'll pass on the Rigid. Thanks for the informative video.
I totally would have thought a two-point (rail) system would have been better. I don't know much about saws so it's not like I'm doubting you. You can make table sleds really accurate if you're looking to do fine joinery. Thanks for the review. I was just looking at the newest version of this saw.
Iv had this saw for about a year and I also had the older Delta. They are both great saws. The only reason I sold the Delta is because I went overseas. If I had to do it over again i would buy a cabinet saw. I think the Rigid is a great saw so far don’t hesitate to buy one.
Great review...no bullshit, just talking about your experience with the saw...unfortunately I don't live in america anymore(germany ex military) so to buy one would just cost too much for anyone who might be willing to ship it...
Thanks man lol. I'm not looking to make money off of RUclips. Just looking to share some of the stuff I consider hard to find info as a woodworker for fun lol. Thanks for watching
I just got one of these I'm looking forward to setting it up. says it's "new and improved" so I don't know what the changes are, I'd be interested to compare them. I enjoyed your video it was useful information but it was really really hard to hear you
Do you know how to adjust the fence? The four bolts that starch the fence and the one in the back to tighten the rear clamp I got, but the 2 white plastic things that take the play out of the front slider can’t actually be adjusted. (There is a metal ridge that they register to that prevent it) ugh!!! I get different results every time I move it!
Biggest hang up on buying a $700 saw from Home depot, is that for $300 more you could have a true professional saw from Grizzle and/or Shop Fox! Glad your's is still going though...
Thanks for the review. I'm comparing this one vs the Delta as well, but I noticed Delta has a T2 version out with a 15 amp motor...no release date though.
I'll be checking out this saw personally in the store when we are allowed to travel again after this coronavirus pandemic... I like its size, table and weight. But, if I'll be having to fix this typical flaws... maybe I would be fine just buying one like the Makita MLT100 which has essentially all the flaws but can be fixed, for half the price. What do you think? :)
Makita makes great tools. The Makita MLT100 should function just fine, but its a compact saw. you might have a difficult time ripping big sheets of plywood or other super heavy stuff. other than that, it should work great!
Hi i have bought that same table saw 2nd hand n i dont have the manual to it, where can i get that one. Also there is a piece of the saw that was handed to me which is the not connected it is the adjustment level that is between the extension table wing, i dont know how to put, n the extension wing keeps moving to the side. Please help
I saw someone had called “orange...” something. Saw them on Etsy. Apparently they go on the front and back of this fence and make it work fine. Small pieces of orange plastic. Might be worth people that have this saw to check out
I have the same exact table saw. Very nice video. I really really like your wall wood storage. What are those white supports you have that holds the wood on the wall? Been looking to store my wood planks on the wall for a while and been looking for a simple solution.
They are actually the cheapest shelf supports you can buy from Home Depot or amazon. it wouldnt seem like they are strong enough, but combined they are more than enough
I plan on building my own Kitchen Cabinets from 3/4" ply. I found a great deal of this saw. You reccon this is accurate enough? I was going to invest in a Delta Saw but hear complains that the cast table top is not level and dips which is not good for dado cuts. The Delta also has a very short arbor like a european saws were Dado blades are illegal.
oh wow! well then i might have to reconsider my recommendation for the delta. The only real problem with this saw is the fence. if you replace the fence system it will work like a champ. but yes sir. i've been building cabinets with this saw for years now and it does the job well enough.
Hi friend. Looks like this saw has the same typical flaws of all saws in this price range. But I would have liked to see more about the fence. How is it bad that the fence has 2 securing points? I think it's ideal that the fence be locked from behind and front. Maybe you meant that the locking mechanism doesn't work?
No sir. if it used the front and back to lock into place then that means it can be skewed slightly by the friction of the back lock. If you see a beisemeyer style fence thats on all the top of the line saws, it is only a single point fence. that two point fence is literally an inferior design... at least the way Rigid has done it.
@@thecrazyrepairman6286 you got a great setup going there, man. With those upgrades that pretty much addresses my main complaints. If I'm gonna have my table saw for years to come I think I'd have to make those same upgrades. Great choices!
Good review, I'm about to upgrade table saws, and was debating between this one and the delta 36-725. Now delta has an upgraded model the 36-725-T2. So I might go with that one. You mentioned you would've got the delta, did you ever upgrade?
No sir, i havent upgraded yet. Eventually i will upgrade to the sawstop, but i'm just waiting till the right time. The sawstop wont exactly save m a bunch of time making me money, but it will save me a slight amount of time and be much safer.
@@MaydaysCustomWoodworks Well... I ended up going with the Dewalt 7491RS. I work out of a 1 car garage shop. So I needed a saw as mobile as possible. I will eventually get a sawstop. I'm saving up for it. The Dewalt handles a dado stack and has a 32.5 inch rip capacity. It's worked great so far.
Finally, please share the link to buy that push helper from 7:07 Or, could you make a template to replicate it? That'd be great :) Thank you, and cheers from Peru 🇵🇪!
You didn't mention the dip in the cast iron in the middle near the throat plate. Or maybe you got lucky and got one of the flat ones. The grizzly hybrid is a bit more and it would cost a bunch in shipping but is a much better saw.
I have heard about this dip mentioned more then once. That and the fence scare me. This jet pos needs to go. Looks like I’m putting a sawstop on the cc. 😫😩🤪

Ya definitely. You gotta fight with the saw a little bit sometimes to get it right, but it gets the job done
All the issues you mentioned are easily adjustable. I check mine about every two months and usually holds square and parallel.
That's correct. The saw really works great. You are correct. There are no deal breaker issues with it. Just some annoyances.
Thanks for the review. Been thinking of getting this saw but now you gave me something to think about with the Delta saw.

I believe on the Delta Table Saw #36-725, the T-Fence has a steel back rail that the fence clamps onto as well as the clamp on the front.
