Great review! Sorry, just a little safety message for eveyone if you're using a system that has ICS tips like this but without ANR (I guess do it as well anyway). I want you all to make sure you wear hearing protection properly. Tinnitus can be a killer for aviators! Make sure you squash the tips by rolling them like into a snake before inserting, you need to hold the tip of top of your ear with your opposite hand and pull up slightly to open the ear canal as you place them in. Then lastly hold the ICS in until the foam expands to fill the ear canal :-) This is also a basic thing to do with any foam insert hearing protection. I really hope you get back to flying soon!!!!!!!! Keep up the great work.

Seems like this one being so lightweight and non-intrusive that when you have it on, it’s almost like it’s not even there. That’s what you want when you’re wearing something for potentially hours at a time. Like a well-fitting pair of shoes, you shouldn’t know that it’s even there. Well done Emilie, thanks!
I feel so Old-School with what I dealt with back when I did most of my flying, personally and professionally. I just had a mic I talked into, which I had to always pick up from its holder whenever I wanted to speak and then put it back when I was done. Also, I only had the airplane speakers to listen through. Old times. But that was back in the day when I would fly a General Aviation airplane into a controlled airport and was able to taxi up to the terminal to either drop someone off or park, and then walk right into the terminal with no security or any hassle. By the time I got my Commercial and Instrument, the planes had nicer headsets and mics, and that was a great relief, and I probably appreciated that more than anybody else.
Awesome video, thank you for posting! I've got lots of experience with David Clark, Bose, Sennheiser, Telex, and ear sticks. All I can tell you is that once you try "active" noise reduction, you'll never go back to passive NR. You're young, I'm sure your hearing is still excellent. If you want to keep it that way, I would highly recommend going to an ANR headset. Not only does it protect your hearing, but it also makes a full day of flying much less fatiguing. There are times I forget to turn on the ANR ( I shut off on ground to save battery), and when I turn on the ANR inflight, I can instantly feel my entire body relax. SO much easier to hear and understand ATC. (Especially those Canadians with French accents! HA!) Currently, I use the DC Pro-X with Bluetooth and I couldn't recommend them more. The BT is a true Godsend when you've got a MX issue, you're on the phone with Dispatch, and you can throw on your headsets and have a quiet conversation despite the chaos around you with FAs, your FO, the gate agent, the ops agent, and your ground personnel. I have had the same headset for 3 years and love it. I can wear a ball cap to block the sun and there is nothing on top of my head to get in the way. If the other pilot wants to go on speaker while in cruise I take one ear foamy out to talk to them, but leave the other one in to hear the radio without any background noise. I'll never go back to a traditional over the ear headset.
Thanks for the video; love how much information you gave. May I ask if you had any trouble with the mic having to be constantly readjusted?? Pretty certain I'll get the Classic as I don't really mind the Non-TSO, but I've heard others mention that the Pro Plus is worth the expense of the beefier mic
Nice review! For GA flying I debated in-ear vs over-ear and felt that active noice cancellation and over-ear would work the best. But if ever I get to fly with engines behind me I’m definitely going for in-ear. 2oz sounds amazing!

They are eye-watering expensive though...Which is why I didn't buy a new one...David Clark also has really good customer service...I had about 7000 hours flying with one in the 1900, SAAB and also a King Air 90. Sent it in to repair, and it came back practically brand-new! Keep up the good work, and we want to see your cat again!
@@Pilotemilie David Clarke has great service. I'm fortunate enough to live not too far from their headquarters, and when I ran into a problem, I asked if I could just stop by (this was before the pandemic). they said sure, come on over - I handed the old headset over, they swapped it for a brand new one right off the floor in less than 10 minutes.
I see this is a few years old, so I am not sure you are monitoring it. I have worn A-20s for years and love them for sound and clarity. But one thing I hate is the tension, which also flattened my hair. In fact, my barber told me that my hair was thinning in the same place as the head band. I found a way to take the pressure off. Now that the new Bose earplugs have come out, I debated getting them (any input on that, Emilie?). But after watching your video I am now thinking seriously about Clarity. Guess I will have to try them both on a trial. Thanks for all the great information. Actually, just took a nice gig flying the Vision Jet (the engine on top), so will be interested in how Clarity and Bose compare. Hi Emilie! About music, I thought pilots were not allowed to listen to it during flights. But I'm glad I was wrong. Otherwise in long flights pilots would get bored. About the clip, I actually have a similar style of headphones, I use them when I go jogging and the clip helps a lot to balance the rink behind my neck also it prevents the cable from rubbing against my shoulders and back. Oh crap! This reminds me that I have to start exercising again! Great Video!
Ahahha good reminder! Keep in mind, every operator and country has their own rules/regulations. I'm only describing my experience personally! I used to listen to music during my flight training when I would do long cross-country flights - it's a little too busy to listen to music during our super short regional flights! Hope that makes sense!! :)
@@Pilotemilie It makes a lot of sense. Thank you, I learnt something today plus I've got a good reminder, now I have my brain saying "do something" while the rest of my body is saying "don't do it". It's a big debate. Anyhow Keep 'em coming! Have a great great weekend!
Thank you, should have watched this before I asked silly questions. Your demo was very good also the presentation. I didn't know these things were on the market being a foscille LOL
Great topic. The other aviation channel I follow hasn't done this... I don't think. I appreciate the informative review of noise cancellation types specifically. I am really afraid of the ATC work I will need to learn because I have a hard time processing words when there is background noise let alone poor dictation. Every aspect of clarity is important for me. Light weight is cool. On my few flights I've had I have only used the over ear Bose devices which are great but are expensive and I dream of wearing an awesome cowboy hat when flying (side story my love for choppers likely started with my youth watching MASH. There is an episode of a chopper pilot in a cowboy hat. Flying a Bell 47 with my hat and doors off is a dream!) so having the type of non over head band looks great. Just wonder if it works well in the "whop whop whop" in a whirlybird.
I've been using the Clarity Aloft headsets for 12 years now. The main thing I don't like about them is they move around a lot on your head and you have to continually readjust the mic position. Other than that, great customer service. They have fixed my headsets twice for free.
Excellent review. My only concern is how my sunglasses would sit with these. I guess a thinner style frame would fit better. Unfortunately I live in the Caribbean with no aviation headset stores where I could experiment. Keep up the positive content💪🏾,
Sunglasses fit better with these. There are no over the ear pads to squish the sunglasses frame to the side of your head. Very comfortable. I have had mine for 3 years.
Thank you for the review, Emilie. I first saw this headset on your Kelowna to Vancouver video and I was one of those who asked about it. When you mentioned Clarity Aloft, it didn’t take me long before I shelled out a small investment into the Pro Plus model and am happy to say that I agree with you on all points! It’s biggest plus point for me was the overall weight combined with the memory foam in-ears, where it would sit quite comfortably behind the earlobes without the need to remove them for the entire flight. Since using it, it has generated quite a following among my fellow aviators from the more well-known (and expensive) Bose In-Ears. Nonetheless, I appreciated your in-depth and detailed technical review which is probably a first for this headset.
Thanks so so much! I'm so glad it helped & I'm glad you're also loving yours! It's nice to offer alternatives instead of always gravitating for the popular options! Never know what gems you'll find. Thanks for watching!
An excellent review of the product, i bought it a few weeks ago and trying it now. There remains one question to me - how are they to be used when we have Cabin depressurisation. How do we use it along with the oxygen mask, especially the microphone when it can’t swivel like the other headsets.
I looked at the Bose in ear noise cancelling headset when I was deciding which to purchase but several retailers said that they wouldn't be suitable for a single piston engined GA aircraft due to not blocking out enough noise so instead I went for the Bose A20 and I absolutely love them. I can see in anything twin turbine upwards these would be great though but it'd be interesting to get a review of you trying them in a noisy GA!
Clarity aloft blocks out most. Flew with guys who used them in our Navajo’s. I went with DC one-x just because i didnt like thebidea of replacing ear tips and ear buds tend to come loose for me
Do you ever flight private/small piston props anymore? (like CFC or something?) curious how these would perform in a small piston plane as they seem to be louder.
Emilie: I've heard some ATC and ground radio. Sometimes those guys seem to speak either chesty or nosey, how do you cope with those kind of voices? At this point I figure both parties - transmitter and receiver - must have crystal clear headsets, plus a foreign accent like Scandinavian, Hindu, Latin or Chinese. Is it challenging, sometimes, for you pilots to get the message? Thanks!
Everyone's got a different voice - some are easy to understand, others not so much. If either ATC or pilot doesn't understand something, you just ask to 'say again?'. Easy :)
Didn’t get along with mine, as you mentioned wearing sunglasses made it very uncomfortable. I replaced with the Pro Flight series 2 which are great (not sure if that’s true in a turbo prop)
Hey, i just registered with a flying school, im looking at headsets, i dont know whether to go with these or not for 2 reasons, firstly your the second person thats mentioned not being very good for prop aircraft, secondly the last time a doctor checked my ears it gave me gag reflex, so i dont know if i would puke putting them in Also, my instructor had a set of these, with a pair of bose a20's over the top of them, i dont know whether he used the a20's for extra noise cancelling?
Hi Emilie. I’m on the 1900 freighter. It’s very loud and was wondering if you think this headset would still be sufficient for something with smaller turboprops. I want my next headset to last me into next job hopefully the airlines and have been told the Bose A20/30 is too bulky for smaller jets. Any comments?
Realizing I'm late to the game, but I was wondering if you (or anyone you know) had considered getting some custom earmolds done for these? I've always had trouble picking the right size foam pads for proper fit and extended wear. The earmolds are definitely more expensive to purchase, but perhaps they last longer with proper care? Questions you may not have answers for, but doesn't hurt to ask, right?
Super cool pilot headset sophia emilie . I wonder if i can use it for preaching . Let me know. Love the review of this device. It's extraordinary and super cool. First time seeing this though. Thanks for sharing .
Nope. I don't chat with anyone. If people are pretending to be me, they are scams & frauds. These are my only accounts. Please report those fake accounts. Thanks.
Best headset ever... Lightspeed Mach 1 in-ear headset (with custom ear-gels). It’s clearly better than Clarity Aloft. UNFORTUNATELY, Lightspeed no longer makes them. Fortunately, mine still work great. It weighs about an ounce, and has no hoop.

She is drop dead gorgeous ❤
This video certainly got my head set. Thank you.
Emilie you are so great keep it up
Thank-you for sharing the headset good introductions
...But does it flush? J/K!
I love "your" frequencies!
bahahaha! Thank you!
I've been using the Clarity Aloft headsets for 12 years now. The main thing I don't like about them is they move around a lot on your head and you have to continually readjust the mic position. Other than that, great customer service. They have fixed my headsets twice for free.
That's fantastic! I've found that if I left the clip at a good spot, it didn't move as much!! But glad you're also enjoying them :)
I love my Clarity Aloft, I completely forgot that the tips needs to be replaced after 3 years, thanks for reminding me.. Mine are yellow now :(
It's necessary!
But how did you keep Ninja from interrupting the video? Very great product review!
Ahahahahaa I didn't - I'll include her more next time?? :D
I'm looking at a star😍😍

Loved the review
Glad you liked it
captain emilie i like your job because this my self best old dream...
An excellent review of the product, i bought it a few weeks ago and trying it now. There remains one question to me - how are they to be used when we have Cabin depressurisation. How do we use it along with the oxygen mask, especially the microphone when it can’t swivel like the other headsets.
Glad to see you
Nice review
Excellent review thanks!
I always used Bose, but that was years ago. Do you take your own headset on each flight?
Yes.
Great ! Love mine!
Yay glad to hear it!
I went with DC one-x just because i didnt like thebidea of replacing ear tips and ear buds tend to come loose for me
I'd love that - maybe if I can borrow some A20s I could do a review?
You have a cool aviation channel ✈️😊
Thanks a lot Michael!
@@Pilotemilie your welcome😊 keep up the good work🛩😉
You did awesome job showing your headset ✈🎧🥰
Easy :)
Beautiful cat 😀
Thank you for the review.
What are your thoughts on the new standards for Canadian airlines in 'safe distancing' cleaning of the aircraft ' etc? Thank you
I'm not a medical doctor, so, no idea... :)
Just found your channel. Love the content. Q4 pilot USA.
you need to do more unboxing videos :D "Pilot Emilie does unboxings series" :P
You think? What kinda unboxing should I do? 🤔
Didn’t get along with mine, as you mentioned wearing sunglasses made it very uncomfortable. I replaced with the Pro Flight series 2 which are great (not sure if that’s true in a turbo prop)
Hey, i just registered with a flying school, im looking at headsets, i dont know whether to go with these or not for 2 reasons, firstly your the second person thats mentioned not being very good for prop aircraft, secondly the last time a doctor checked my ears it gave me gag reflex, so i dont know if i would puke putting them in
Also, my instructor had a set of these, with a pair of bose a20's over the top of them, i dont know whether he used the a20's for extra noise cancelling?
Hi Emilie. I’m on the 1900 freighter. It’s very loud and was wondering if you think this headset would still be sufficient for something with smaller turboprops. I want my next headset to last me into next job hopefully the airlines and have been told the Bose A20/30 is too bulky for smaller jets. Any comments?
your outfit is beautiful. great video
You can get custom ones made for these, yes!
Dint know megan fox was a pilot 🤣🤣😜.
J'aime bien cette vidéo
Merci!
BRAVA BRAVA Complimenti👏👏👍

JAMIE STOP OMG. bahahahahahahaahahhaa I love you.
Super cool pilot headset sophia emilie . I wonder if i can use it for preaching . Let me know. Love the review of this device. It's extraordinary and super cool. First time seeing this though. Thanks for sharing .
Thanks Ian. Not sure why you're calling me sophia emilie though! :)
Many call you emilie but i prefer sophia because it is common in Trinidad that's all.
ok lol... but that's not my name...
Is there someone looking like you because the person video call me and looking just like you? You have a twin ah wah ?
Nope. I don't chat with anyone. If people are pretending to be me, they are scams & frauds. These are my only accounts. Please report those fake accounts. Thanks.
I have the same headsets and I bought a pair of customized ear buds! It is so much better than those foams :)
That's so great to hear!! Glad you enjoy them!
Super video
What happens if you don't use pilot headphones for piloting
In-ear earphones are technically not noise "cancelling"....rather noise isolating. Like having earplugs in....they isolate the noise out.
Are you allowed to llisten to music while flying?
Depends on your operator & regulations.
Hi Emilie, How you're doing?
Hi Emile, you have fantastic, very very nice eyes. Fernando from Argentina
Biutefull Very NICE and Smart
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! =)))) cool gadjet
Emile when you were doing training at that time you used to wear headphone or earphones ?
Yes... you always need a headset of sorts
Awesome
I’m proposing that this should be your standard video wardrobe from now on. Who’s with me???
how common is it airline pilots use their own headsets?
Depends on the operator. In Canada, I believe it's literally everyone that has to bring their own...
@@Pilotemilie more of a flight related question what is your favourite bird (aircraft) to fly?
You are very brave girl
Bonjour emilie. Pour moi clarity est trop fragile pour une utilisation en aviation générale et plus particulierement en aeroclub. Je prefere le a20 de bose avec reducteur de bruit.
Bons vols et a bientot sur youtube!

I'll stick to Bose....................sorry
Their consumer products are known for being crazy overpriced. I would guess their aerospace products wouldn't be quite so bad given that market has high profit margins to begin with.
