John, thanks for having me a long for the journey. I loved doing this, the Tsukuba area is beautiful, and as always you found the way to make this truly ONLY IN JAPAN! Hope everyone forgives us for our lack of food fighting skills! ha ha
runAway Japan Dean, this Ibaraki Trilogy was a great idea and greater fun! I know you like a good chance he after seeing your videos so this was perfect - although I thought you’d be a little tougher to beat 😏 gonna have to find the next big challenge and it would be fun to have you back for that! 🤟 #deannukem
@@WaoryuONLYinJAPAN admit it guys, you only did the 15 minutes so that you had an excuse for not having to finish! 😂 And you know...... I hate to say that but... The second attempt doesn't count since we did not see where the food went after you picked it up! Challenge does NOT count as completed! 😜
I've never considered Japan a car country, so I was surprised by the SAs and the food courts. This is why I enjoy your channel; you challenge my mindset and reveal new horizons about Japan and it's culture. Needless-to-say I've truly enjoyed your Ibaraki trilogy. Please do more road-trip style videos. BTW I hope you didn't get indigestion eating all of that food so fast (twice, really?).

@@user-mikeneko5517 Americans don't think the Japanese ride horses. We know you eat them. Americans think trains and buses are used in Japan more than cars. Everyone knows Japan makes cars. Japanese don't go on road trips in their cars as much as Americans. A lot of miscommunication in these comments.
😂 All I kept thinking was, “Stop talking! You’re filling yourself with air and letting the food settle so the brain registers your stomach as full quicker!” The trick to this is not think and just act and consume. 😂 In any case, good job. Love your videos. Keep them up!
1212 yeah, it is. Your stomach needs time to realize that it’s full, that’s why doctors recommend to eat slower to people who struggle with weight loss because they often eat too fast and too much, and they don’t realize they’re full. For people who are food racers, they eat as fast as possible without talking, not just because of the fact that there may be a time limit, but because they need to make sure their stomach doesn’t realize it’s full for a while.
Great coverage of what to expect from Japanese Service Centers and the local food and goods that one can find. They sure know how to satisfy the appetite of a hungry traveler. That food challenge was epic. I know that I can't do that meat and rice challenge. But what a surprise that you finished! Great video coverage!
"Didn't I eat this one already?" 😂 Awesome video!! Love the Service Areas, but I've never been at that one. Looks so yummy and worth it!! 😆 Congraaaaaats on beating the clock and wall inside at last!! 👏😆🥓🏆🥓 Thanks a lot for the video! Can't wait for the next one!! 😁
Japanese service areas really make your journey so much more pleasant! It's unreal the variety and quality of the food you can get there! Looking forward to our next road trip now 😁
Like round 15 of a heavy weight boxing match! I felt dizzy from the greasy fast speed of my chopstick skills, hahaha! and the punches I got from the food in return!
Your videos are the best, I think I've watched 40% of your total video history. Thank you for putting so much time and effort into such an amazing series. Absolutely love the channel. You have a fantastic listening voice!
yes... i'm from turkey and i love japan so much! i learn english the fact remains that, i watch your videos with subtitles ... thank you john! i hope one day i will come to Japan
I don't relate to the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment a marathon runner feels after finishing a race. This, I relate to. Good job going back and taking that challenge down.
whenever you do one of those challenges just divide your food into small portions that way you get a sense of accomplishment and it motivates you to go on and finish remaining portions.
I saw a really cool documentary about rest stops in Hokkaido, and how farmers bring their crops and home-cooked foods into the little grocery stores generating local business for everyone. What a cool concept, I wish we had that in America.
a few tips mate in a food challenge drink as little water as possible when eating and never ever stop if you stop its over because your body would realize that you are full and if the food gets cold it becauses more solid which makes it harder to keep going!
Great advice! I did that the second time. No water, just sipped the soup a little. Went fast, beast mode. You’re so right - eat it before the body knows what happened! Thank you.
Lmao I love the way John talked about comments from Gyoza challenge video that bothers him xD Don't worry and continue your marvelous food journey & travel man.
I'm sure it's a family size dish but the plastic model say to people -- come and eat me if you can! That right there is a challenge I can't back down to.
That looks amazing, and I love pork belly. I couldn't finish it in one sitting though. Thanks for taking us to these out of the way, yet very interesting places that we don't see in everybody else's Tokyo vlogs.
Has anyone talked about how cool that mayo bottle top was at 3:50-3:55. It was like 4 small holes instead of one big in the center and it just blew my mind! Take my money 🧟♂️
Wow! Can’t believe you wolfed down that mountain of meat and rice two days in a row! I was gonna say, you could shovel the rice into your mouth “Chinese” style...that’s how we do it, when we’re hungry or in a hurry. Not elegant, but gets the job done! Since, you applied that technique on day 2, I guess they do the same in Japan. I always thought the Japanese avoid doing that at all costs. Loved this fun and interesting episode, John! 🍚🥢
