  • With it's massive 500 cubic inch V8 and gargantuan length and width, this was the pinocle of luxury in it's day. Let's fix it up some!

    Thanks for the video! I have a -76 Eldo as well with a leaking exhaust manifold. Nice to see that the bolts tend to break 3/4" above the threads so you do not have bore them out.

    Sooo good to see. In Australia here and I’ve got the same but a 1974 model. Just such a magnificent car hey. I’ve done a bit on it myself but it’s always hard to find good people to work on it that know what they’re doing. So hard to find certain parts too. Thanks 🙏 for the vid.

    Same problem with mine. I fixed it although my bolts broke flush with the head. Also had to end up breaking the manifold because it had rusted to a couple of bolts and didn’t want to back off. LOL all in all not a fun job.

    Should have heated the bolt not the head and touched it with paraffin wax. Would have been easier

    GM really screwed up with those tacky plastic inserts front and back, some 5-mph collision nonsense demanded by the Feds. Once the plastic pieces fall apart, the car's image takes a major hit. I'd find a metal fab specialist to fill in the gaps.

    I am thinking about purchasing one is there anything I should look for in this vehicle are they hard to work on are the parts hard to find I know I will need a hood idk are those hard to find

    • @hylandshire
      @hylandshire  Год назад

      Mechanical parts are generally available and affordable while body parts are hard to find and expensive. Frames can get pretty rusty if it was a winter car. Convertible tops are expensive and hard to keep working right.

    Leaking exhaust manifolds? Yes. Tape bumper fillers? Yes. If you are unable to care for him I'll take him off your hands. Why aren't you hitting the bolts with some special sauce first??? PB Blaster

    the minute you showed the exhaust manifold I knew you were going to be chasing at least two of those bolts. Here - this should help you on your journey with it.. and please do post more videos on it! drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1HEGjmkAtLjLUEet76YMYuIazzJOGpwCw
