@GrumlyOldGuyPlaysGames: Well, Jimmy's not wrong about that Trying to describe a Kiss concert to anyone, Especially if you've never seen them in concert yourself is damned near impossible to do
I have seen more than 50 shows of the band, in the US the shows were cool, but audience cant react so much because there were seats, in South America and Europe it was crazy!!!!!!!!
Paul Stanley said that "Detroit Rock City" was one the best songs he had ever written, released in 1976, it was overshadowed by the ballad "Beth" that became a huge single that year. Paul Stanley said the lyrics were a tribute to a Kiss fan in North Carolina, who was killed in a car accident on the way to a Kiss concert. Kiss wanted to immortalize Detroit in gratitude for embracing this band from New York City with 4 guys in makeup and costumes. Everybody thought Kiss were clowns, but they blew away audiences on tour and they were playing arenas in Detroit around 1975 and the Midwest, before they even had a hit record. Also, their big double-live album "Alive!" was recorded in Detroit's Cobo Hall in '75 and that became their first major album. By 1977, the original Kiss was a global success and had become a pop culture phenomenon.
The bassist is Gene Simmons. The lead singer for this and the other sing you watched is Paul Stanley. Gene is the lead singer on many of the heavier songs like "Rock And Roll All Nite", "I Love It Loud", "Calling Dr Love", "Cold Gin", "Deuce" and "Unholy". It is really those two that run the band, the other two has been a revolving door but the two other original guys were Ace Frehley on lead guitar(best musician of the whole group) and Peter Criss on drums.
Kiss - black diamond at the midnight special. It shows just how fucking bad ass and cool these dudes were. Low budget show and they absolutely murdered every last moment of it.
Imagine being a young teen in the 70s, already a fan of the band and then they put out the mighty destroyer album after KISS ALIVE. yes I got the posters, yes I joined the kiss army, yes yes yes. P.s. I can't listen to this without hearing the muscle car in the background from the studio version. Good times. The 6th grade version of me says thanks for the memories 😉
Yes i agree I still love you from MTV unplugged really allows Paul to showcase his voice it's a slow song but his voice is amazing in it. On a side note Paul Stanley also played the lead in Phantom of the Opera while it played in Toronto
I've never been big on KISS, but love this song. More than anything though, I really appreciate their biography, they were a group of guys that was determined to be successful no matter what. Almost everything they do from the makeup to their large expressive movements has a purpose and a backstory that is often tied to their determination. Another outstanding reaction Aileen! You're awesome and I always look forward to your vids!
@@michaelasay8587 I've heard all their music. I'm not saying is bad or anything, just not what I choose to listen to. This song is about Detroit, a city near and dear to me.

Original members: Gene Simmons (Bass), Paul Stanley (Vocals), Ace Frehley (Lead Guitar) and Peter Chris (Drums). This video features Tommy Thayer (lead guitar) and Eric Singer (drums).
thank you thank you thank you!!!!!! that was fun you are awesome Aileen,,, find a live video of Kiss " fits like a Glove" you'll need two spray bottles hahaha............... you are Bad f.... ass friend
Just saw KISS a few weeks ago and it was the absolute most fun night of my 43 years of life. I've been a fan my whole life and to finally get to see them live was everything I needed it to be and more. This is the song they opened with and as soon as they descended from the ceiling and the first note played I started crying like a baby. When the pyrotechnics go off and that blast of heat hits you it just sends you into the stratosphere with excitement. I didn't sit once through the whole show, I just danced and danced and sang My Heart Out! Kiss is my favorite band and I'm devastated they won't tour anymore but I can at least go down in history as one of the many people who lost their mind ROCKING OUT to Detroit Rock City!!!!!!
Gene Simmons, the bassist, was with Cher from 1977 -1980. They were in all the tabloids at the time. I saw them while in high school and got grounded for two weeks because of it. 1976 was a great year for concerts, not a great year for sneaking out of the house. Loved your reaction, I see many more Kiss reactions in your future! Blessings.
Nine year old me bought this album, Destroyer, in the sweet summer of '76! It was the first record I got with my own hard earned cash. I still have that album four decades later. This song rocks, this album rocks, this band is a blast live (seen 'em 4 times) and I will forever be a soldier in the KISS army! 🤘
This song was what got them to blow up along with "Kiss Alive". Paul Stanley; the lead also did "Phantom of the Opera". If you look at their catalog I find them to be one of the most accomplished in the body of work and length, ever!
I was 4 months from being discharged from the Air Force. I was stationed in Cal. and on July 18, 1975, 2 of my Air Force buddies and I went to the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino,Ca to see ZZ Top, the headliner. The opening band, which none of us had ever heard of (I was a major rock- a- hoalic and saw many of the major bands perform there since 1972) was Kiss. I know my mouth was on the floor when they took the stage. Their look was amazing and when they started to play the 3 of us knew we were seeing music history. Went to the local chain record store the next day to buy their LP. The dude at the register said their FIRST LP would be in the store in 2 weeks. I have seen them many since then.
My Very First Concert Ever... Lead off band was Night Ranger,Then KISS came out and blew my 12 year old Mind!!! Night Ranger was great as well!!I was only 12...My older brother got the tickets for me and my identical twin brother's 12th birthday!!! EPIC!!!! Great Reaction as Always Beautiful Young Lady
Kiss is my wife's favorite band...we just saw them last August. And still they gave it 110 percent....saw them first in 78...lol. Pure entertainment. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
I first hear this song in 1t grade back in 1977. From that point on it was Kiss posters on my wall. I first saw them in concert in 8th grade. Watching you respond to this reminded me of me when I was so little. All I wantd to do was be the drummer for Kiss back then. and tour with them. I think I manifested it because a band I was a tour manager for opened for them on a European statdium tour a few years back. It was surrea for me. THey are humbe amazing people, INCREDIBLE business minds and put on the best show a rock band could dream about. That was always their goal - the show. Little known fact about this song, while it's called "Detroit Rock City" it was actually about a car crash where I live in Charlotte NC. Kiss were playing in Detroit when Paul read about it in the newspaper and that led to this song.
I've followed KISS since Destroyer came out (Detroit Rock City was the first song on the album). Been hooked ever since, and have seen them in concert 5 times. Always an amazing show! Thanks for doing this reaction, love your channel!
It's nice to see a new fan of KISS after all of these years. I enjoy your reaction and am not surprised that you are surprised. The KISS of before modern day "was"the greatest band in the world". Thank you for your videos!
If you like hearing Paul's range as a singer, "Million to One" highlights really well what he can do. I don't think anyone's reacted to that, it's a lesser known song off of the album Lick it up. But it really highlights Paul well.
Growing up the 70's I was more into classic hard rock and prog such as Zeppelin, Floyd, ELP, Queen, Aerosmith, YES, Slade, Boston, Heart, and Sabbath, etc. I had dismissed KISS as a mere cartoon rock band. But one of my younger friends owned 2 albums. One was Elton John's Greatest Hits, and the other was KISS ALIVE Vol. 2. I borrowed the latter one weekend to check them out. The first song, "Detroit Rock City" blew me away! The intense energy of the live performance got my attention right away! Its become one of my favorite "classic" rock songs. Other tunes like "Love Gun", and "I Stole Your Love" are others that I love. Then there was "Beth". I love both the studio version, and the live version. Even love the acoustic version played in their "Phantom" film. To thank my younger friend, I took him to see a KISS concert in our town in 1981. (his second concert after the Queen concert I had previously taken him). Later, I took him see a double feature, "Pink Floyd: The Wall" movie, and the "Heavy Metal" animated cartoon movie (the ultimate double bill!)
Aileen, I got into Kiss back around 1976 (I was 13), but it was a brief "affair" between me and Kiss because I also discovered Rush around the same time. I found Rush was more my "flavor" and I kind of left Kiss behind, after 1978 or so. But, more recently, I've been diving back into Kiss to check a lot of the stuff I missed. I started watching live concert videos on RUclips and there are some great ones out there, from 1977, 1996, and 1998. Great ones, where Kiss was still wearing the Kiss make up and doing their classic sets of songs. Amazing, right? BUT -- I TOTALLY slept on Kiss from the 1980's! You should check out their live concert from 1984, on their "Animalize" Tour! I am BLOWN AWAY! They own the stage from the 1st beat and they are just going nutz the whole show! But the thing that got me is watching their old drummer ERIC CARR!! I am a drummer too and I've loved all the greats, including Peter Criss, Neil Peart, Phil Collins, John Bonham and all the top guys. But I have never seen a drummer play with so much unbounded energy, precision, and passion as I have with Eric Carr! You have to see 1980's Kiss if for no other reason than to watch that kid BURN on that huge kit! Plus Paul Stanley is a FREAK on that show! It's incredible! If you are the Metal Goddess you claim to be, you owe it to yourself to check out that video and those crazy songs from the Animalize tour with Kiss! Wild!! By the way, Rest in Peace, Eric Carr, who died in 1991 (11/24/91). What a great musician! Plus, he sings will he's going wild on the drums! He was truly special. RIP!
I was in Jr. High at the peak of KISS madness and was part of the "Kiss Army" they were absolutely awesome in concert! You've got to react to God of Thunder next!
my first concert was 1975 at the San Francisco cow palace. That was the original 4 Jene Simmmons on bass, Peter Chris on Drums. Paul Stanley and Ace Fraily. I was 15 and it was by far something over the top and amazing for my first ever concert.
You picked a more modern performance where they're old and using two replacement members for the guitarist and drummer. You gotta try a vintage performance or the studio recording.
Fine reaction! Really, their energy is amazing. However...if you only know a couple of their songs, I gotta tell you there's a long way to go to get to know their music. I got a few suggestions: "Rock and Roll All Nite"; "I love it loud"; "Heaven's on fire"; "All Hell's breakin' loose"; "Lick it up"; and, if you like ballads, the beautiful "Forever".
First off, you with those *BOOTS*?? A slay 💅We need to find you them asap cause you would be cooking!! Secondly, again and again, you always have the cutest faces and the most fun with reactions when you clap/play along with them especially when the singer did that little move towards the end 😭The energy from you is always so infectious ❤With this being my 2nd song too, I was also taken back from how different it was from the first one! Baby deer with the wheels too 😭
Saw them a few years ago and they are still putting out the best live shows ever!!! KISS ARMY FOREVER 🤘🤘 Songs: Deuce, Strutter and Cold Gin should keep this party going for a while!!
KISS staples (hits & deep cuts) : 70s - Strutter - Deuce - Parasite - Rock & Roll All Night - God Of Thunder - Shout It Out Loud - I Stole Your Love - Tomorrow & Tonight - Love Gun 80s - Shandi - Creatures Of The Night - I Love It Loud - Lick It Up - While The City Sleeps - Thrills In The Night - Under The Gun - I've Had Enough (Into The Fire) - Heaven's On Fire - Tears Are Falling - Forever - Let's Put The X In Sex 90s - Domino
My older sister loved KISS and wanted their albom KISS Alive 2 for Christmas my parents were freaked out by them and told her not in their house but got it for her we have a picture of her holding up the album and crying when she got it.
Saw KISS back in the 70’s .. First time at Anaheim Stadium with Ted Nugent & Bob Seger opening. Then again at the Fabulous Forum with Peter Frampton & Cheap Trick opening!! So much fun! I still have the confetti that was blowing’ around the Forum arena during I WANT TO ROCK N ROLL & PARTY EVERYDAY 👈 I highly recommend that song!
Kiss have been doing their farewell tour for almost 4 years and they've played their 'final' performance in Chicago like 3 times and they'll be back soon. I felt so lucky to see then in 2019 thinking it would be the last but no...they dont sit down...60+ and still kicking. You can notice it in their vocals but its not bad
Dang first time ?! Holy moly ! You gotta listen to creatures of the night , I love it loud, turn on the night , nobody wants to be lonely , reason to live , crazy crazy nights
1. The bassist with the tongue is Gene Simmons. Also there are a lot of KISS songs where Gene is the singer. 2. This kind of performance and energy is why the late, great Dimebag Darrel of Pantera was buried in a KISS themed coffin (with Eddie Van Halen's guitar!) Because, even in death, go big or go home!
Yes!!! KISS is Rockin! Luv Detroit Rock City!! This band really had a great show and their talent spoke for itself! Gene Simmons was always a badass! (bassist) Not a bad song on their playlist! I would suggest Rock n Roll all night! Luv ya Aileen ❤️💛
Of course I want you to check out more Kiss since this is one of the two most played out Kiss songs. Well it's possible I heard it above average as I'm from the Detroit area
"Deuce" and "King of the Nighttime World" are really good, fun Kiss songs! If you can check out the live versions, all the better, but studio version is fine too.
FOR ENERGY: "I wanna Rock and roll all night (and Party Every Day)", "Love Gun".,""Shout it out loud"., "King of the Night time World" , "Do you love me" , "I love it Loud", and Psycho Circus". FOR A DARKER VIBE: "God of Thunder" (This is the part of the show where Gene usually Spits up "blood"). FOR A LOVE BALLAD: "Beth" BTW, Paul was one of the First to finish a song by Smashing his guitar and throwing the pieces into the Audience... And Ace would have Fireworks shooting out of his...
The main singer is Paul Stanley. He also did a play on Broadway called The Phantom of the Opera for a bit. Gene Simmons is married to a Playboy Playmate. They did a movie based on this song called Detroit Rock City as well as a "B" movie called KISS Vs The Phantom in the Park. The song I like the best is sung by the drummer Peter Criss called "Beth".
Seen KISS in Detroit/Auburn Hills, lol. We were short by $20 for tickets at the box office. Some old biker guy and his wife were walking by and heard us talking to the person behind the glass. We walked away and he came up to us and just handed us the $20. Said KISS Army has eachothers backs. Top 5 concert memory.
When I was growing up, I had heard on the radio 101KLOL Houston, that KISS was coming to town. I was pumped and immediately went to ask my dad if me and my brother could go. The look on my dads face was priceless as he rolled his eyes. Not only did he say no but hell no. He saw them as demonic and thought that KISS stood for Knights in Satan's Service. Kind of amusing looking back on it but man was i pissed back then. Loved your reaction.👿🤘
It's worth finding video of this song, and many from their first 4 albums, played by the original band. True rock n roll animals! God of Thunder, Deuce, Black Diamond, Rock and Roll All Night, and Beth are good starts. I Love It Loud, Lick It Up, Heaven's On Fire, are second wave suggestions. Capped off by Unholy. A crimimally under rated song.
Other great KISS songs to react to, in my opinion: Rock and Roll All Nite, Love Gun, Strutter, Lick It Up,. Beth is also pretty different from their normal work.
Gene was the Bassist! In that Gear, he's "The Demon", and it's been said his tongue is a full 8 inches. The Lead singer is Paul Stanley, know as "The Starchild". HERE'S THE KICKER: For all that Energy onstage, Think about how Old Paul and Gene are! Paul was born in 1952, and Gene in 1949!
The bassist with the tongue was Gene Simmons. Paul Stanley was lead vocalist on this song, though Gene Simmons sings a lot of Kiss' songs. The 1976 album "Destroyer" that this song was on is worth a deep dive.
Because I was live and audience when poison opened up for kiss in Texas, and when poison did every rose has his thorn is so set me up for the ballots of the 80s of kiss
Aileen, I just found your reaction channel and love it. If you could react to the Kiss song, Calling Dr. Love which was my favorite Kiss song as a child I would be very appreciative. The bonus is no one else has reacted to this classic Kiss song. Keep up the great work and best wishes of success with your reaction channel. 👍😊
another KISS classic vid you would LOVE would be one they did back in the *80s called "I LOVE IT LOUD" it's one of vthe best known hallmark song and vids of them at their most rockin out.
aileen ive seen kiss live in concert several times they are amazing live you ever get the chance they are on tour now but not sure if they are coming close to where you live but you get the chance you should go see them live you will be amazed by the way for your next kiss song listen to unholy or warmachine both are outstanding kiss songs have a great day your friend robert
I have been a fan of KISS because my parents got me into it, they actually are really great, Hell or High Water is a great song, Psycho Circus, Thief in the Night, just to name a few
KISS is good no matter what goes on. One of the wildest things heard or saw was when the did MTV unplugged. Not onky did they NOT have the makeup on, both the OLD lineup as well as the existing line up at that time did a lot of their catalog acoustically for the most part.
Saw these guys in Chicago back before they took off their makeup and no one knew what they really looked like. Not just a crazy show but the crowd was as well. CRAZY!!
Imagine, what you just saw there is what a KISS concert is for 2 solid hours. Best showmen in the business. KISS is referred to by many bands as a major influence on them.
Paul Stanley is the singer and rythem guitar, Gene Simmons is the bass player, Ace Frely is the lead guitarist and Peter Chris is the drummer. They were never a grest band but they are amazing performers. They taught Van Halen everything they knew about the business.
I'd love to see some reactions to videos of KISS back in the 70's when they were young and full of energy. Also, some of their heavier songs like "Got To Choose", "Parasite", "Cold Gin", etc.
Jimmy Buffett was right when he sang, "don't try to describe a KISS concert if you've never seen one"
was still the loudest one i been to lol

so would the movie "Detroit Rock City" be a homage to them???

Cold Gin was written by Ace Frehley. It's not KISS without him and Peter Criss.

Gene Simmons, we salute you. Even as a senior citizen, he can still make 20-something year old girls blush with his antics on stage
Ik right unlike Paul he also still has his voice
Love your faces!!
Nice reaction 🙌🏼
Yeah Gene Simmons is the one with the tongue! 🤣
They’re gonna play here in Fort Worth October 27 🤘
They have loads of amazing songs I definitely recommend you keep going 🤘
Love your reaction! Nobody compares to Kiss when it comes to the live show.
my first concert was 1975 at the San Francisco cow palace. That was the original 4 Jene Simmmons on bass, Peter Chris on Drums. Paul Stanley and Ace Fraily. I was 15 and it was by far something over the top and amazing for my first ever concert.
This was the song to start with. Anything but I was Made For Loving You. 😁😁 Keep playing the Kiss! Love this tune! And yeah, that bass!

My older sister loved KISS and wanted their albom KISS Alive 2 for Christmas my parents were freaked out by them and told her not in their house but got it for her we have a picture of her holding up the album and crying when she got it.
My first ALBUM was KISS Alive 2. My first concert was KISS and my second album was Dynasty which “I was made for loving you” is on
And keep in mind this is when they were much older.
As the man below said, unplugged 'I still love you' is awesome. Paul up front and Gene on base.
Bomb reaction hahah love this
This song was my first introduction to Kiss and I've since seen them live twice. Awesome energy
I once dug out of three feet of snow on a mouto get to a KISS 💋 show!! It was great!!
Don't forget God of Thunder.
YES!!!..I'm glad you got disco KISS out of your system and now got a taste of real KISS!!! You're going to really enjoy this rabbit hole!!!
Another great video of theirs is their official live video of Shout it out Loud from 1996. PURE ENERGY AND IN YOUR FACE
This is my favorite KISS song. I love your reaction! This is rock and roll! The biggest band in the world for a good reason. They get it done!
KISS 1978 at the Spectrum; best concert that I’ve ever been to.
You really need to see them live, it’s not a show but an experience! KISS ARMY
I saw them in 1977, I was only 14
Of course I want you to check out more Kiss since this is one of the two most played out Kiss songs. Well it's possible I heard it above average as I'm from the Detroit area
Saw KISS in '79. I was young, the girls were pretty, and the pyrotechnics were awesome. Great concert!
Wow, I was a YEAR ago in '79
@@stephen9302 No school like the old school.😎
My first concert was in Detroit Rock City Feb 18 1984...Detroit embraced KISS.
Next song Heavens on fire
My first show!! 1975! They did a live album, but anything on their Dressed To Kill album is awesome.
And, this is just the first song. They put on a great show. So much fun!!
FOR A LOVE BALLAD: "Beth"
BTW, Paul was one of the First to finish a song by Smashing his guitar and throwing the pieces into the Audience...
"I still love you" the song they do on an unplugged show is amazing.
KISS Live is incredible, so loud, so fun, major party whole time every time I saw them...
Cold gin!
Other great KISS songs to react to, in my opinion: Rock and Roll All Nite, Love Gun, Strutter, Lick It Up,. Beth is also pretty different from their normal work.
Absolutely ALL of them
Cold Gin
This is one of the bands that actually let the bass shine and was the reason I wanted to learn to play bass back in HS
Paul does have a great voice! He played the Phantom of the Opera in Canada in the late '90s. That's not an easy role to play, and he nailed it!🤘
Took my daughter to see them in 2012. IWMFLY was in response to Bee Gees fame and shows off Pauls falsetto. Give Rock and Roll All Night a listen.
KISS Army is watching YOU! KISSes from Deutschland!
I got my first kiss album when I was 6 at an Easter egg hunt,, chocolate's and kiss alive (loved that cover) ,, thanks mom for the great memories 🥺🥸
they are in the guinness book of records for using the most pyro in one show
They were phenomenal Live!!!
Yes they were
FJK & Masego “Tadow” Live in studio,All bangers Thank you for the awesome content!!
I LOVE HOW MUCH FUN YOU ARE HAVING!!❤❤❤❤❤
That was great!!!Would love to see you do the music video for I LOVE IT LOUD by KISS!!!
another KISS classic vid you would LOVE would be one they did back in the *80s called "I LOVE IT LOUD" it's one of vthe best known hallmark song and vids of them at their most rockin out.
First song at their show this summer. Often voted their best song. Kiss ruled in the 70s and early 80s.
aileen ive seen kiss live in concert several times they are amazing live you ever get the chance they are on tour now but not sure if they are coming close to where you live but you get the chance you should go see them live you will be amazed by the way for your next kiss song listen to unholy or warmachine both are outstanding kiss songs have a great day your friend robert
Got to check out more KISS with a song called "Love Gun", a great banger!!!
I just saw KISS Sept 1 , it’s not just a concert it’s a show!! Awesome! You should try “God of Thunder” next.
I saw kiss live in 2000 and it was godly my very first concert at 10 years old
Paul Stanley is the singer and rythem guitar, Gene Simmons is the bass player, Ace Frely is the lead guitarist and Peter Chris is the drummer. They were never a grest band but they are amazing performers. They taught Van Halen everything they knew about the business.
Metal is therapy. You can experience all range of emotions. Which makes it great.
I'd love to see some reactions to videos of KISS back in the 70's when they were young and full of energy. Also, some of their heavier songs like "Got To Choose", "Parasite", "Cold Gin", etc.
I saw them at Tiger Stadium in Detroit and my ears rang for days!
